What happened? Everything has been moved so that it takes 3x times as long to shop. It also takes 2x more dollars. Check out the signs in the center isle that goes across the store. The signs are oriented so that you can only read the sign for the isle your in. (I already know what's in this isle, I'm standing in it.) If you're in that center isle and want to know what is in the other isles, forget it. You can't read those signs. Employees are very nice and the people doing the shopping for delivery and pick up are good showing you where things are (since they have been moved.) Why can't the app tell you which isle things are in? The app is very hard to navigate. I clipped about 15 coupons on the app the night before, but most of them either disappeared, or I could not find the list of them to shop them. The app also doesn't have the same specials as the store. For example: Diet Pepsi 12 pack on line did not have the Buy 2 get 3 free special. The app needs some work and consumer testing. Von's could be 5 star, but top management seems not to get it! read more

My last experience with pick-up on October 11, 2024 was not good. All of the fresh vegetables were old and/or use by 10/12. Yeah I'm not using a bunch if fresh vegetables the day I recieve them. Package of salad greens was already wilted. Only refunded 2 of 3 items. Another item I didn't notice for a couple of days was expired and slimey. First time this has happened. It looks like someone intentionally picked stuff that would have been discarded 10 hours later. BTW.... The chat option does not work in the app. read more

Full-on torture chamber. we foolishly wound up in there again for our once-yearly reminder of why we don't shop at this hellhole. We were in the self check out, and of course, the pricing on the shelf is some bizarre tricky combination of items that apparently we did not meet. When we asked for help, a woman came along at the piece of a snail and said she'd have to go check the shelves. I've never seen anyone walk so slow in my life! Off she went-on a journey to seek clues to unlock the mysteries out the pricing I guess. There we were- left in the self check out corral with all of these horrible computers, making horrible sounds--one after the other. About 15 computer voices saying, some sort of things about 'how many store provided bags did you use, follow the instructions on the pin pad'. Hell. Awful. Oh my gosh. Absolutely a torture chamber, not to mention extremely high prices. We fled. Such a wretched place. Horrid experience. That store disrespects their customers in so many ways. How could anyone stand to shop there??? read more

I want to give 5 star to Jennifer in the Bakery Department. I came to Pismo Beach last month to celebrate my brothers 50th bday and called the bakery department to place an order for a cake. Jennifer went above and beyond to take my cake order. She made sure that my cake matched my Desert table. Jennifer is not only good at what she does but she was so friendly and nice. Great service and great selection of groceries; however, the sidewalks, seating area, and parking lot need to be routinely cleaned (power washed). It is disgusting to see coagulated brown substances near the store entrance that remain for weeks and the dark sticky residue left to build up on the sidewalks and parking area which seems to be completely neglected is not a good look for our community or your storefront. I will not include photos, because I am not trying to embarrass this business. My hope is the manager of this store will take a look at the exterior of the store from a fresh perspective and set out to permanently resolve the issue. I would love to change this review to 5 stars soon. read more

Tonight's visit has me not wanting to go back for a while. The service tonight was unfortunately rude. I went in for milk and coffee creamer and ended up seeing some marigolds that were visibly dying and I asked the self checkout clerk if I could receive a little bit of a discount. Her response was that if they aren't dead then you aren't getting a discount in a stern and no smile or customer service composure. I never ask for help so it's unfortunate that the one time I do the response was unfavorable. Xo read more

I don't actually yelp stores but honestly I can't with this place anymore. I have lived within 1 mile of this store for 20 out of 30 of my years on this planet and have consistently shopped for groceries that whole time at this location. It went down hill after the merger and all the regulars have disappeared, maybe one or two left. Nothing is ever stocked anymore and they all pretend like they can't go check in the back for more, "if we had it, it would be on the shelf"...I've worked in grocery stores and I wasn't born yesterday I know that's not how it works. Kids pushing mops scrolling their phones... management here has given up. The store is on autopilot. Usually I just buy what I can and leave annoyed. Today I left my items and went to another store that was well stocked. read more

The self checkout lady that was working on July 24th came at us at very hostile environment was screaming instead of talking in respectful manner. My go-to store in South County! Great flowers, produce, seafood, selection and prices. Only issue is that they are often low or out of stock...probably because of Covid-19. Convenient clean store. Love their sushi take out too! Yum! read more

Von's is very fortunate to have an employee by the name of Jen, on their winning team. When I suffered from a major fracture of my wrist and forearm, she took a personal interest in volunteering to assist me by taking by groceries out and loading them in my vehicle. She did this without asking and provided the utmost customer service ever. The other day I needed to purchase items from the deli to create a charcuterie board. Jen was there and recommended some very delicious products that were definitely a hit. Jen is an extraordinary employee and has definitely made my shopping experience inviting, enjoying, and satisfying. Thank you Von's for the best customer service provided by Jen. read more

Staff were very nice, they took social distancing seriously. They were all wearing masks. Carts were wiped down. The store had everything I needed, was clean and organized. No complaints! read more

Love this Von's! I usually end up coming here at least once a week (and have done so for the last 2 years), and I've never had a difficult or unpleasant experience. Love how clean and organized the store always is, and every staff member here is so helpful and kind. It's clear that the store does its best, and I appreciate all of their efforts. I noticed a lot of chatter on recent reviews re: Vons' non-requirement for masks, and while I realize it is a sensitive subject, there are far more businesses than just Von's that aren't making it a mandatory practice. I believe that the only nearby grocery store requiring masks for entry might be Trader Joe's, so I would politely suggest that these concerned citizens take their business there instead, if this makes them feel more safe. read more

Grabbed a package of cinnamon rolls today and this is what I got! Went to the customer service desk talked to Kathy who said " it could have been dropped today " she then just walked away. I am absolutely appalled, not that it was a broken package but that the package had so much mold pouring out of it! That amount of mold does not happen in one day nor a week in a refrigerated area! When they stock they're supposed to rotate this is obviously not happening and neither is any customer service! There was no oh I'm so sorry this happened or anything. Make sure to check your dates and packaging as Vons is no longer doing this, very sad! read more

I don't think I've ever had so much fun in a grocery store. Maybe it was my crazy sister making me laugh at random stuff, maybe it was the vacation high I was on, maybe it was all the really cool non-food items for sale, maybe it was even the cute guy who helped me pick the right shrimp, either way, this store was one of the best supermarkets I've been too. Came in here recently on vacation to pick up some food for our stay and was pleasantly surprised by all this store has to offer. All the aisles were well stocked and clean. The store had everything on our list (but our list was just basics: milk, bread, eggs, hotdogs, cheese, tortillas, etc.) except firewood. The staff was friendly. And apparently so are the other patrons (yes, a cute guy helped me pick out the right shrimp--shell-on, EZ peel is the kind you want, not whole shrimp! )But the coolest thing in the store was all the non-food items. Giant blow-up unicorn floaties for the pool? Check. Highlighter chalk pen for the kids? Check. Really cool wood cookware? Check. Adorable Christmas decorations? Check! Awesome Mexican blankets/towels for the beach? Check!!!!!! I think I spent about $100 in non-food items. ‍ And as I was shopping my butt off on all this cool stuff, I realized they have a Jamba Juice in store!! Omg!! I might never leave. read more

When I worked for Vons customers service was the number 1 thing we needed to strive for. Making sure your customer leaves happy. Well that didn't happen to me not once but twice in 2 days. Not going into major detail except if you don't pay attention to their sale items, you will get ripped off. It almost happened to me yesterday and when I pointed this out to a store employee she argued with me on the pick 4 mix or match. I even showed her the sales app and she got mad and went an got the manager and I got the same thing from her. I walked out and left everything. Had to go back again today to pick up a prescription. I decided to look over the display to make sure I wasn't wrong and I wasn't. I talked to the supervisor on the floor and pointed out that their display is misleading and what her employees told me. Did I get I'm so sorry let me fix it for you, nope what I got was a very rude reply "I'll talk to my cashiers and walked away. I don't think I'll be back. read more

Yo this is for whoever makes the sushi at this Vons... it is OFF THE CHAIN. It is so much better than the sushi in the SLO vons. This is for April in the "butcher-block" section. Each time we've gone to Vons she's always ready to give us a warm welcome and terrific service. She's given advice as to whats good and how to prepare it. This place is outrageous with the prices! The premium priced fruit just doesn't ever taste right, peaches and plums taste like bland chemicals. I just can't get over the price of beef! I can't afford their eggs or chicken either. Dogs in the shopping carts is getting out of hand. This place turned into a tourist trap. The bakery is very good though, delicious fresh breads, cakes and pies. read more

I shop at Vons often, as it is close and convenient to my home. There is a Starbucks inside, which is great for me. I can buy a coffee and shop. Today I am reviewing the deli and bakery, although all of the staff in all departments are excellent. I ordered several deli trays for a baby shower I hosted. The deli has a great selection, and I felt the price was great for a tray of delicious hoagies and a tray of pinwheel sliced wraps. I ordered the baby shower cake at the bakery. The cake was simple but tasty and affordable. You only need to give 24 hours notice, so that is nice to know for last minute plans. read more

Alise. In customer service is the worst.... she was rude and very unprofessional.... she proceeded to service 2 other people prior to me even though I was there first because they flirted with her..... wtf is happening to customer service.... read more

Everything here is stupidly expensive - I'm particularly referring to the deli and prepared foods section, where a rotisserie chicken is $9. You've got to be kidding me - that's as much as Whole Foods in the Bay Area! A stale, old sushi roll is over $6. I can get a cheaper Cali Roll at a literal Japanese restaurant. I'm okay paying more for convenience, but not when it comes with a huge lapse in quality. This Vons is a joke. Buy your take-out elsewhere. :-P read more

The reason I shop at Vons is only because it's convenient until this last time. I Purchased prosciutto at the deli counter which I had her slice I also purchased a wheel of brie. When I got home and unwrap the prosciutto it was old stale dried out you would think the person slicing it would have noticed that but she did not I had to throw it away. Then I open the brie and it was brown and had an order so I had to throw that away I'm so tired of buying things from Vons that's old outdated and I have to throw away. Everyone... please double and triple check your grocery pick up orders if you do them online. I've done this three times and all three times they have forgotten items. Not cheap items either. When I call they always say "oh yeah... I have them right here." Can you tell me why three times, I've had to call you and you don't just call me an say "hey, I forgot to put a bag in your car." I would be much more forgiving with that. Not, oh yeah I charged you all this money but didn't give you all the items. DOUBLE CHECK your receipt and items match!! read more

This Vons in grover beach is very crowed with people, with all that is going on right now with this virus, they should have more control in how many people to allow in the store at one time, very poor management or what, or they just don't care about the customers or employees. I had gone into the store to get a few things, lines every where people were not social distancing, as well as the employees, also they were not going in the direction they should be in the aisles, people bumping into each other, just a total mess. I don't think even half the people were wearing a mask, thank goodness I was. I was looking at something, and this man was so close to me that when he coughed I could feel it, he was not wearing a mask. He was rude when I ask him to back away you are to close. I felt so uncomfortable in the store that I just left my cart and stuff there and walked out. This store is a total disaster right now, very hazardous, no excuse for it, no excuse at all... I will not be going back until all this is over or they take better control of the store. What a shame time will tell what the outcome will be, its a deadly accident waiting to happen. read more

Very frustrating that this store doesn't enforce the public to wear a face mask! Your hard working team of employees and customers need to be protected! It's sad that the cashier's DONT HAVE A SHIELD Between customers, a flimsy mask isn't enough protection for your valuable employees! Vons is not a grocery store that I frequent very often. During a trip to Grover Beach, I was called on to purchase a dessert. Went to Vons since they were close to our location. Really disappointed in this store lately.. Unfortunately, we haven't many options in this county. I guess they know that, so they don't have to try to please the customer. The store is ALWAYS super crowded lately, they have run out of many things we've wanted to buy, and the aisles are often clogged with carts of employees stocking the shelves. How about stocking during store closing or early in the morning? There are always long lines for checkout, not enough cashiers.. The last several times I've been in, I've had to bag my own groceries because there doesn't seem to be enough staff. Once, not too long ago, I didn't have enough bags and the cashier was nice enough to give me one paper bag since I had already bagged most everything myself. The same thing happened today, I needed just one more bag. The cashier, who is a supervisor, asked me if I wanted to buy another bag. Seriously?? I just bagged all my own stuff and you still can't give me one bag that likely costs you way less than the ten cents you charge for it??? I am thoroughly disappointed in this store and will be rethinking my shopping options. read more

I like and use this store all the time & would normally give 4 stars. But the other day I saw that a customer had placed her dog (obviously not a therapy animal) in the cart where the food goes. Yuck! I know staff probably hesitated to intervene, but really, a dog with who knows what on it's feet/fur in the cart where you put food. If the dog had to be with owner, then at least on a leash walking alongside. Would appreciate if this practice could be stopped. Otherwise, the re-model of the store is great, products good and staff is friendly and helpful. Updating: I mentioned this problem to a friend who took off running with it. She spoke with the manager at Vons, Sean/Shawn and he was already on top of it. Had ordered signs a few days ago and once the signs are there will put them up and enforce the 'no pet' in store policy. This does not affect the ADA, which has very specific issues on animals in stores. So yay for the great manager and yay for keeping the store clean!!! 5 stars now. read more

I was visiting the area on a family vacation and we rented on a nearby home. The store was well kept and easy to navigate even as someone just visiting the area. The bakery was well stocked and had a large assortment of pastry and dessert items. I came in for some ice cream for the house as well as a few forgotten items like a toothbrushes and sunblock.
