Part I of 2
(Part 2 had to be written under Vons Studio City Laurel Canyon review. I wasn't able to write a part 2 here. But you gotta read the rest, it gets wild, with elephants, bitch calls, and meat cleavers...
It all began the other evening...
The shift supervisor of this store refused to give us our bag of food after we paid for it!! Read on...
A few days ago I shop, hit the check stand, pay, and ...oh no! forgot something! Checker says: it's OK. Leave bag here....I run for extra item and then back to check stand. She and bag gonners.
Figure I'll get it after going thru that long friggin other line. I get lost in pages of the Enquirer and such crap as do we all, can you admit? Lost in space on the grocery line at midnightish, hardly the Oasis, but do I hear violins? Finally get home and oh crap. Forgot bag #1 at the store! My Peet's organic coffee for tomorrow morn, oh no..but I can't go back now. I have some Yuban in the freezer that'll do in a crunch.
Ring Ring, John answers. Yes save for you, will put in fridge. Yes I'll try to retrieve it or refund tomoro, maybe next day.Oh well. I'm assured info on this will be passed on to day manager. Cool and case closed. No prob, treasured customer. We love you. Okay! Buy Buy!
Oh, one would only wish it was that easy.....
I'm not in that part of Burbank often, so I skip a day and go retrieve my bag of food day after, bringing my receipt for clarification and proof, not thinking I'd need it but always good to have physical proof.
By the way we'd come from Universal Studios after a missing child lock down (check my next review on Yelp). Twas a tiring day, hunger set in. Penny Wise does not buy her eats at Universal...each jelly bean at Sugar broken down costs you a nickel a jelly. but I had to do Von's, it was time. 20 minutes later...
I brief the Von's shift supervisor Edwin Rodriguez and wave my receipt.
Ed while shuffling papers: I don't know what you're talking about
This is what I'd feared. The time waster. The energy sucker. The Shift Supervisor!
I believe not only does he not know. He doesn't wanna. Really he doesn't and says it. I don't know who you talked to or when you were here or what this is about, says Rodriguez.
It's okay, Ed. It's all there for you. On The Receipt !!
This should be stress free, and they should be nice. This guy's eyes said I want to disembowel you
His eyes tell me he is going to be the time life sucker shift supervisor meanie most people don't stand around to dispute especially at supermarkets..
But here I am to remind you, Vons and Safeway are big bodies, and these corps we visit to get the best prices for our sustenance. It's not for them to eat us alive.
So I put on my consumer warrior hat...and give him choices,
One is to behave like a mensch (good guy in Yiddish)
Two is the receipt to bestow him with investigatory power. (magic!)
I hereby present this wondrous piece of evidence to determine who was where when or whatever is keeping you from ceasing to shuffle those papers and hightailing it back to the fridge section to see if my bag of food is there..
His attentiveness to the shuffling of his papers is now compelling him to completely cut me off from his senses. He turns a few times to direct himself towards a screen, then takes my receipt and taps some keys and puts my receipt down.
He doesn't take to my suggestions which are:
1. Call the store manager, the DM, anyone who was working that night
2. Check the freezer or fridge in the back
3. Look in the drawers to find a note from John or the manager that night
4. Call someone
5. Just believe me
He says Vons/Safeway has the best communication of all and everyone. And since noone told him about this... (I guess there goes his believing me).
NOTE TO VONS: GET A BULLETIN BOARD AND POST LITTLE NOTES ON IT.
To suggestion Edwin Rodriguez says "no". Then he said "no" to another. Then I got some silence which said to me uh uh. Then a side glance that said "no". Then I got a glare that said "I don't give a crap about human kind and if I had my druthers I would go to the meat section grab a cleaver and hack you up into little pieces" which I essentially understood as "no".
Let's go over CONSUMERISM 101.
THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. (not true, but we follow this like we are supposed to follow The Constitution).
#1 You realize that you are holding onto a bag of my groceries which I paid for and won't release to me
#2. You realize you can find who the name of the manager I spoke with from my receipt, right?
#3. You realize your "I don't knows" are premature, and your sense of investigation needs redirection)
...especially when you are in charge of the store right now (GO TO PART 2 WHICH IS IN THE REVIEW OF VONS STUDIO CITY LAUREL CANYON STORE . ...I am in extraordinary violation of word count, exceeding anything beyond what one review should ever say. strike me dead why don't ya? read more
