Ok selection. Average prices. Not enough checkers and no baggers makes for very long lines. Overall, sub standard customer experience.

I'm writing this review on Jane(cashier). I'm a customer of Vons and I also do Instacart. Jane has helped me out many times, and she always has sour face attitude. She never smiles, she is rude. I don't think she realizes her facial expression of annoyance shows.Every time I come to her lane when I do Instacart. She is unprofessional and unwelcoming.I have no problems with any of other employees. The rest of the employees have been always nice and helpful, when I need help finding an item.Jane needs to refresh her customer service skills. read more

Have being going here for years, have a home very close. Most of the staff is great. A few of the night workers are rude and zombie like... My main complaint is the lines...They never seem to have enough cashiers. I stopped going in the mornings before work, because they only have one cashier open, and you'll have a line where 1 person has 2 item and another person has a cart full? They had signs stating "3 or more", meaning 3 or people in a line and we'll open another register? The signs where taken down recently and with good reason since they never where able to comply. I guess since iit's a supermarket, and people will go either way, it's probably a lost cause. read more

I no longer go in this store because I find no one that works here is the least bit friendly...feels like a cattle call when you are in line. Anyway, so I do resort to Instacart once and awhile to get some of my favorite store brand items. Never again! My shopper informed me that a certain item was not available, but sent a photo of a replacement. I saw the price and said SURE! I forgot that stores/Instacart uptick their prices and I understand that. Not sure who's fault this was but my item was up charged 13%! I started checking some of the bakery items that have the prices on them...same thing. What a ripoff. Also, each store is responsible for their website/stock and I know it can't be updated every minute, but with barcodes there should be a system where items in or not in stock could be reflected....other stores will say 'likely out of stock'. You spend all that time making your choices AND replacements only to find they don't have either one. I guess it's back to in store shopping at Smart and Final....great prices, fast checkout and friendly checkers. OH I FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING....OUT OF DATE ITEMS!! TWICE I got totally expired food and Instacart was gracious enough to refund me, I hope they got their money back from this Von's. The items came from the deli items. read more

Terrible service at Vons on Pass in Burbank. Could not even get anyone to answer phone to complain. So here I am. Tried to purchase 4 items, but because 2 of the items were wine I was rejected at self check-out. I went to get in line so that someone could check my ID - and there was one other line open with 4 very full carts waiting to be checked out. Obviously not worth the wait. Left - No Purchase. By the way - I'm 82 years old - not a teenager so I don't think I look under 21. I get emails from Vons every day telling me to shop there - Now maybe they will get the picture as to why I rarely do. They have lost this customer for good. Ralphs is not the greatest but better then Vons. If you're in self-check out at Ralphs, the girl working the line helps you out. She doesn't send you away. At Vons, the girl at self check out was very abrupt and not helpful at all - and although all the customers had a mask on - SHE DIDN't. When I mentioned that to her - she smugly said - Tomorrow. This happened at 9:45 a.m. on 7/17/21. I think there is a Mask Mandate in effect as of 11:59 p.m. 7/16/21. What's going on Vons - doesn't this apply to your staff? read more

Deli employees suck, rude and lazy they see you standing there and they ignore you and go in the back and don't come back out to help you. You let managers know but it seems they don't do nothing about it .Go to Ralphs people are so much nicer and HELPFUL read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at this store until recently. Recently I stood in line at the meat Dept. for over 30 minutes. Thinking that the Store Manager didn't know what was going on, I went to the Help Desk and encountered a man who said he was the Store Manager. I told him no one was helping the customers at the Meat Counter and he replied: "The customers can wait because we will be here all night" and then he laughed. Well since I was one of those customers waiting I didn't think his comment was funny. I then saw a lady who said she was the Asst. Manager and I told her what he said and she said: "Oh that's just his sense of humor, he was just kidding". I don't come to VONS Burbank to receive Jokes and rudeness from employees whose purpose for being employed there is to provide professional customer service to the customer. The VONS Corporate Office should most definitely look into the evening Management team and update their Customer Service skills. I want to continue to shop at that location because it is in my neighborhood but I don't want to experience that Manager/Asst Manager's unprofessionalism again. Please talk to them. Btw, the Manager's name was CARLOS BANOLOS and I am not sure what the Asst. Manager's name is. This incident happened May 23rd 2023 between 5:25-6:30pm. Thank You read more

Vons in the Lakeside Plaza is a solid store that I am usually satisfied with it . The deli counter has great choices, but are regularly understaffed with often long waits. However the personnel behind the counter are terrific. I think the best thing about the store is that they are helpful and pleasant. The standout employee for me is Laura, at the check stand. My wife and I always look for her to have a quick chat as we are moving through. Although this is not an exceptional market and they are not that willing to get requested items that, it is very sufficient and our go to place unless we are looking for seafood. read more

I've been shopping here every week for over a year now and it's a decent Vons. Plenty of parking and space for cars / pedestrians. An official Starbucks in the same plaza and a small Starbucks inside Vons by the entrance. When I started shopping here last year, the cashiers / baggers forgot twice to bag some of the groceries I paid for which then caused me to return from home and frustrated. Thankfully that doesn't happen anymore since I mentioned it to them. Deli and butcher can get busy at times. I wish there was more help there but the people I've met are really nice and even let you try a sample. I wish there were more cashiers at times. I also wish they had self checkout for the quick purchases. read more

Helpful and pleasant staff. Pleasant customers too, that might seem silly but I spend a lot of time shopping and I appreciate a friendly smile. Plus they always have what I want. read more

NO SELECTION AND LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG LINES! Empty shelves and 2 check stands open. The lines are reminiscent of the beginning of the Covid lockdown. My nearby Vons keeps insisting it has no control over deliveries and what foods are ordered etc. While this may be true, what's with the long, long, long, long, lines every day of the week at all times of the day??!? As I walk past the homeless people outside of Vons where they are begging for jobs, it seems incongruous that Vons has 2 cash registers open. I don't even bother trying to find out why that's happening all the time. Who knows what lies I would have to smile through?!? I went all the way across town to the Pavillions, which is twice as big and twice as expensive and encountered the same exact problems: lack of selection and 2 check stands open, with super long, long, long lines. I've tried going in at 6am on a weekday to avoid the long lines, but to no avail. They usually have only one cash register open in the mornings, which completely defeats the purpose of trying to beat the crowds, as you still have to wait in very, very, very, very long lines. I am utterly disgusted and defeated. One cannot order fresh fruit and vegetables online, so avoiding the grocery store isn't possible unless I want to live on cheese puffs and prepackaged cookies. Not very healthy or balanced. read more

3/28/21: I've never been to a grocery store who had the rudest most unhelpful employees. From a bad attitude at the meat department to a crazy woman trying to assist the self checkout. My god. I don't understand how DENNIS is still working there. Mind you I worked in Vons and this is one of the reasons why I quit in the first place. Everyone there lacks customer service skills and talks down on you treats you like garbage. I bought alcohol at 11:30pm today I showed DENNIS my ID and he asks for both my ID and card (that is not the process btw) I showed him and my card and my last name didnt match because I recently got married and it shows my maiden name and he didnt want to sell me the alcohol??? After asking Claudia she said that is fine because I match my ID picture obviously. It shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. My card declines and I told him I was going to use another card I asked my card to my husband and to resend me my money since we always split our grocery bill which he then proceeded to shout "u can't do that its against the law!" I even told him I have proof I can show you that I zelled him my money. He then proceeded to shout "If you are the one with the ID you need to use your card not his card Its the law, its the law" I told him that is my alcohol I am using my own card my money he then started arguing with me to show him my card i showed him twice but still got heated and throwing a tantrum denied my whole purchase and started banging all my stuff on the table because he thought I was using my husbands card? This went on for like 15 minutes its really ridiculous the way he acted and getting into my face I literally had to tell him to shut up the way he was screaming at me infront of all the people!!! His supervisor Claudia had to rescan all my items and I used my own card and ID with no problem?? What is this Customer Service!!! read more

I happen to live around the corner from Vons. It has been my super market of choice ever since moving to the area for the last 14 years or so. Aside from being close to me (so close I walk there several times a week), I go there for the competitive pricing, large selection, its open 24/7, and there are usually hot chicks there at all hours of the day. Hell, it's much better than Albertson's over on Hollywood Way (aka Burbank's butthole). So this evening I had to run to Vons to get some stuff. I am in the aisle looking at their wide selection of energy bars. (side note, good thinking on the part of Vons to place the energy bars next to the condoms. in my experience they go hand and hand, no pun intended). Then all of a sudden it is as if Satan himself ascended from the depths of Hell and entered Vons. Over the loud speaker was playing what is often considered to be the worst song ever recorded by mankind. That is right, Starship's "We Built This City". A song so vial and horrific, I screamed out in agony as my ears were bleeding. How could my beloved Vons do this to me?? Why?!?!? If I had discovered that Vons had some illegal sex trade business involving girl scouts and grandmas in the back of the store, I would more forgiving. If it was discovered that all of their meat was made of human flesh, I would still give them a pass. But "We Built This City"?? That is just unforgivable!! So to you all my fellow Yelp citizens!! Until we get a written apology for this travesty, I demand a full boycott of this Vons store and every other Vons location. Also boycott Jons! (I don't know if they are owned by the same person. It looks like Jons is Vons but they change if the V to a J if they are in a crappy neighborhood.) Until then, I give Vons 2 stars! I would have given it 1 star, but because of the hot chicks and the fact they normally stock Beemster imported aged gouda (it has a robust carmel flavor that I love) read more

When I first moved to Burbank around 12 or so years ago, this was the place I bought my groceries since A) It was walking distance, B)I didn't have a car back then, and C)It's open 24 hours, unheard of for a grocery store (for me, anyway). Plus, there's a sandwich place, a Japanese food place, a drug store with a post office (post office is gone now), a video store, a dry cleaners, a bank, and back then, a bookstore. It was one-stop shopping. Then I moved a little further away and started going to Ralph's which was decent. I went to that Ralph's for years. Then one day, I decided to go to Gelson's. I was blown away by the service there. I was also blown away by the high prices. I thought, "Well, the service is exellent....maybe it's worth it." So I went there for a few weeks, even though it was a little farther away. Finally, I strolled back into my old grocery haunt, Von's. They remodeled the hell out of the place, looking a little closer to their sister store Pavillion's on Alameda. The biggest difference, though, was the change in service. Someone got fired or hired or had a meeting or was sent a stern letter with bits of angry spittle on it because suddenly, this was the most helpful grocery store on the planet and it was actually pleasant to be in. Everyone got "be nice and make everyone feel like a million bucks" implants in their brains. It's the Westworld of grocery stores except not creepy and no robot sex. read more

I work across the bridge from this Vons and every now and again I come here for the buffet and sandwich bar, not really the groceries... I wear a plaid shirt and am typically seen with flip flops and jeans making me somewhere between a hippy and hipster... Which means I get my groceries at Trader Joes. But, that being said, I like writing reviews of place I frequent, and this Von's eats about $20 a week so here goes: THE GUY THAT RUNS THE SANDWICH BAR IS AWFUL (I looked up 30 different put-downs and have determined to be professional... but he is desperately bad at his job). It is often believed that a sandwich is something you can just throw together. Some meat, cheese KERPLOW and shove that in some kind of bread/bun/wrap combo. But it's not. It requires care. It is the proverbial 'garden' of the kitchen with each element needing it's own tender care in order for the health of the greater whole. And this guy, who 2/3'rds of the time is in the back... I'm assuming brutalizing the tomatoes... Just doesn't give two feathers about the food he's making. All the amounts are off, the food is dropped half the time and do NOT ask for a wrap... You'll get mostly plastic glove. Now. I could be a snob- but this is where that 3rd Star comes in- because today when I went, I was paired up with "DON" the guy that runs the cold cuts section- made me one of the BEST sandwiches on can expect from a chain grocery store. AND IT WAS AWESOME- complete with some artisan touches like asking if I wanted mayo or if I preferred honey dijon to regular mustards... rather than not putting anything on it after being asked. Don's the man. So if you go here for sandwiches like I do- either go early when Don runs the sandwich part, or insist on him and not... the Barbarian trying to paint the Mona Lisa. read more

This review is for the deli only. I usually only come in here to visit the deli, and there is one reason and one reason only. LUPI! this woman is the sweetest gal out there. She makes an amazing amazing sandwich. Even when she is busy she spends time with you and she makes exactly what you ask for and more. I love that when I come in here she always remembers me, even when it has been months. She's truly a sweet human being. However, her supervisor in the deli is something that I am not allowed to say on yelp. He's always crabby and in a bad mood and giving the employee's and customers a hard time. He's not funny, hes not joking around, and his sarcasm is not to be tolerated. I cannot stand when I come in and visit the deli and he is there. I just turn around and leave the store. His mannerisms are uncalled for. Thank you to Lupi for her kind service and genuine personality! read more

Some months back, I descended into the bowels of yelp, yes, the "talk" section, where I read through a topic about women who go grocery shopping bra-less and in sweats. I found this really interesting, mainly because I hadn't noticed such a phenomenon previously, but also because I was curious about the legitimacy of it as a grocery epidemic. Being that I go grocery shopping every other day coupled with my proclivity to indulge in not-too-leery adult thoughts while running my errands, I seem to be inadvertently gathering research on the subject because EVERY TIME I step into this Vons, I notice at least one example of this near-naturalist behavior. Most often very clinically; not arousing or a turn-off, just filed away data. I've learned that examples of this behavior can be found in abundance on Sundays for reasons unknown, however, I have my theories. I find all of this fascinating. Vons is my petri-dish when it comes to braless-behavior and that alone is worth two stars of varying size. TO SCIENCE! But what makes me love this Vons so much (aside from having grown up shopping here as a child), is the fact that I once saw Bernard from LOST here and while I am, for the most part, well-past star-struck behaviors, it took everything in my being to NOT hug the hang-dog looking, superstar character-actor. That, my friends, is worth an additional two stars and definitely NOT worth getting arrested over. Subtract a star for a combination of minor annoyances: no bike rack(s) - at least none nearby, tiny gluten-free selection, oddly expensive at times, terrible produce selection and a guaranteed long line each visit. So whether you come here for scientific purposes or just to meet your grocery needs (like a normal, healthy person), Vons is a "hits the spot" grocery store that happens to be located next to one of the coolest bars found in a strip mall: Sardo's, and is worth checking out once or twice or three times. read more

5 stars for being the only market in the neighborhood that is open twenty four hours a day. It is a very clean store with a very friendly and attentive staff. I was here a few days prior to Christmas and did not anticipate my arms not being able to hold all my goods. An employee went to grab me a cart and helped place them in the cart while I tried not to drop cans on his foot. Being in a Vons takes me back to my teen years when I worked for the Vons Safeway corporation. I know that the employees have to ask patrons if they need any help, but it seems that the employees do it regardless of whether or not they have to. read more

Today, 8/31/23, I bought what was advertised as "lobster roll salad". The sign under the tray did not state that it was imitation so I assumed it was real. After getting home and eating it, it was obviously imitation. When I called the Meat Department, the low-functioning employee's response was, "We didn't say it was real." This is clearly a scam and false advertising. I tried calling the store several more times in an effort to speak with the manager. Nobody bothers to answer the phone when you try to reach Customer Service. I finally spoke with someone who apparently was a shift manager who said he would tell his boss. He said that the store receives the signs/labels and they just use what they receive them. I told him that if I buy something, I expect it to be as advertised and not a different product. This is a bait and switch. I made a call to the Customer Service at the corporate office and put in a complaint about this. I also purchased one crab cake. All I could taste was bread crumbs and I suspect that the crab cakes are imitation too. When I spoke with the shift manager" David, he offered to refund my money and provide me with another product of my choice. He completely missed the point, namely that this isn't an issue of one person who happened to call to voice a complaint. The issue is that everybody is being scammed and Von's needs to stop it's unethical business practices. They also need to answer their phones. read more

My friends and I started coming here because the pavilions by our house is broke down, ghetto and a mess pretty much at all times. This was so refreshing to walk into. The bakery is is night & day different, so fresh so clean, the french bread was great! The aisles are clean, items are generally where they belong and the employees are there if and when you need them. The lines moved at pretty quick pace at check out, these checkers know what their doing. Also it's great that this location is open 24/7! I'll definitely be coming here more regularly. read more

Honestly I wish I could give them more stars. LOL. 5 stars is great though. BEST location I've ever been to this is now my go-to location. Always stocked up, VERY kind staff, always helpful and kind, pretty clean store even the bathroom is never too bad. I've been going to this location for about a year now maybe longer. All the items are always great as opposed to other vons locations where they still have WEEK old expired stuff on their shelf's (Tujunga and La Canada vons) so this vons is great about rotation. The workers there are great. I feel bad I can't remember all of the managers names but 2 I always see are always so great. Pretty small location too but still includes a Starbucks which is always nice to have while shopping. Thanks Burbank Vons! read more

Great customer service, although the lines are usually very long at this location. However, when it's busy, you can see the employees hustling to get people on their way, which is nice. I do think Vons is under-staffing this location. Very few organic alternatives unfortunately. Definitely wish they sold a higher quality of food, instead of the typical junk that grocery stores carry these days. Instead of an entire isle of chips, maybe an entire isle of organic alternatives would be nice. Open 24/7, and it has a Starbucks inside, so I find myself going a lot. A great location for your basic, non-arganic needs. read more

I actually like this Vons a lot. For a while, I was a dedicated Ralphs customer because it is the closest grocery store to where I live, and they were very much like the kind of stores I was used to in my small town growing up. Whenever I did go to a Vons or Pavilions, I instantly thought that the prices were always higher on whatever I bought, so why spend more there when it was just the same at Ralphs? Boy, was I dead wrong. Yes, there are many occasions where the prices at Vons/Pavilions are going to be higher than those at Ralphs, but I would say the same about prices at Ralphs compared to Vons. Especially on produce. Vons always has produce items on sale that I need, at prices lower than Ralphs. I suppose if I really based which store I go to on cost of things, my butt would end up shopping at the Jons on Glenoaks every week, but I need a bit more than that. I like the shopping experience at Vons -- it's a very clean store, and everything is nicely organized. The staff have been nothing but pleasant and helpful. I know that what I need will always be available (unlike the Fresh and Easy down the street). Parking is easy, and the location is convenient to work. Even the customers are awfully nice.... can't say that about any other store. Check-out is fast and easy. I also like ordering sandwiches from their deli counter, which, if there isn't too much of a wait, is actually quite good and worth the 5-10 minutes it seems it takes for them to make your sandwich. But, if you haven't tried their sandwiches and soup... give it a try. It's fresh and delicious. read more

Terrible customer service and management. Have never waited less than 10 minutes at the deli even with no line. Go to pick it up and "no you ordered turkey, sorry next in line" no help or anything. Called into to talk to a manager see what they can do. MUCH better than Albertsons on Hollywood Way and Verdugo. Better selection, easier to navigate, nicer staff, faster check out lines, better parking situation. After meeting a friend for lunch in Burbank I decided to stop at this Vons today to pick up a few items. In the past this Vons has carried a wide selection of products. While this store is very very clean and modern the selection of products leaves alot to be desired. I left the store empty handed and 8 items I was looking for they don't carry at this location anymore. The service deli is poorly stocked. Most of the quality name brands and specialty food products have been removed to be replaced with store brand products. Paula the main store manager has no knowledge of any of the products. I asked her why her store doesn't carry refirderated bubbies pickles and only carries bubbies relish. Paula said that two years ago the Vons/Safeway chain discontinued Bubbies pickels. Oh really!! How come a few days ago I saw Bubbies refridgerated pickeled at Vons in Tarzana. This store doesn't carry diet cherry pepsi or diet A&W cream soda. These are very common supermarket items. This store doesn't carry Sonoma jack garlic jack cheese either. Many vons/pavilions stores carry Sonoma jack garlic jack. This store was out of stock of the items that I wanted to purchase such as hawain papayas, juice evolution orange juice and haagen dazs mint chip ice cream. This is a nice grocery store. They have a decent selection and their prices are OK overall. They constantly have deals on what I want but then again I don't buy specialty items for the most part. They also have a decent butcher selection with premade stuff for the "I'm too lazy to cook" nights. Most of the cashiers/managers I've encountered are very friendly and will help you with everything you need. Their coupon policy kind of stinks now but they are in line with Ralphs as far as double coupons go. The Downsides: 1) The credit for bringing your own bags is lame. (10% off Safeway earth friendly items) 2) No pharmacy or makeup at this location 3) One of the supervisors Carlos is the biggest jerk you will ever meet. He always second guesses coupons and refuses to take some even if you have the required purchase amount. If he makes a mistake and you correct him he's really rude about it. Avoid his line! Other than that, everyone else is great! read more

Ironically located on Pass St., you might want to Pass this place and shop somewhere else. Service is lousy. The workers here very hostile attitude, seems like they're not enjoying their jobs. I came in to return an item, not a food item, a beauty product I purchased. The cashier lady whom I didn't get her name probably could've been the manager or might be the same person others are complaining about in the reviews. She refused and gave me a rude attitude about it while I was also about to pay my other groceries. As a humble and quiet soft-spoken person type as I am, I politely said to her "I'm not gonna by my groceries here." and she said "Okay." I put aside the basket by one of the employees while they were watching this like a bag of popcorn at a movie. Not only this place looks ghetto but workers here look it as well with ghetto attitudes. Upper management needs to retrain them better. Or better still rehire people who knows how to show respect and consideration towards customers. read more

I have never in over 35 years of being a Vons customer , have ever been treated like a piece of Dirt by one of their employees, Until today. The asst. mgr. Friendly staff, Good deals on Fridays and Mondays and they still double their coupons. Unlike Albertsons and now Ralphs.

I know you're wondering why I have Von's on here. But I swear by their chicken strips. I absolutely love them. I crave them so much from here. If you're lucky they will run out of chicken strips and substitue a boneless fried chicken breast which looks like the ultimate of chicken strips. HUGE. I must say it made my night. Plus you can get small things of ranch too that is pretty good in the small island right next to where you get the cooked food. You know how some ranch can be, too watery, not creamy enough, not ranchy enough. Well they have the good singles to go along with your bombizzle chicken strips. read more

This VONS has seen several improvements over the years. From the deli counter, to the produce and even the Starbucks baristas are all fantastic. I would particularly like to note the bakery department. They made the most beautiful two tiered cake for my daughters birthday and it was a fifth of the cost I would pay at another bakery! The cake was delicious and the strawberries were fresh. I give it up to this store for staying on top of customers needs. There are more organic options and products on the shelves that work for people's changing needs (gluten free, etc.) . Keep it up! I am so glad I live in the neighborhood!
