I don't think I have ever been upset enough to leave a negative review on yelp. I have gone to this Vons store in Atascadero three times and was disgusted at the rudeness off the staff each time. There is one particular manager that hangs around the customer service area and completely ignores people he never smiles! ( heavy set guy) He doesn't answer your questions. Makes you wait till he's done chatting. Today was absolutely awful. I went to the Starbucks ( Saturday Around 12 noon) a sweet new girl was training and she kept asking the girl who was working with her how to do things and the senior girl constantly ignored her. She even snapped loudly " hold on" I think her name was Jan? J? she had glasses .. no name tag. Now not only did she snap at staff, She completely ignored me when I asked her if that was my coffee sitting on the counter. Her response was " I don't know" then she walked away. I asked for a straw and she rolled her eyes and started talking to a co worker. I was so shocked I told her she was rude. I would be complaining and so even though I was late for work I went to the customer service desk. But no one ever showed up. ( as usual) What is WRONG with these people. I work in retail. There's no excuse. I plan to call corporate. I plan to write a documented email with names when I get them tomorrow. This is the first time I've ever made a complaint. The worst customer service I have EVER received! Too many good people need jobs. I will never shop there again! read more

Although I do not purchase much food from this store, when I am in town and need some flowers, this is my go to place! I enjoy that the layout is similar to other Vons stores and I know where to find the items I need. Although the food is a bit pricey, if you are in a pickle, this is a nice place to go! So after waiting almost 10 minutes for customer service, I was never helped. I did get to hear the automated voice calling for someone to go to customer service repeatedly. The reason I was at the customer service desk was to see if it is true that there is now a new district manager who is going to discontinue carrying local items. I was told that this is the rumor by someone at Olea Farms after I had to go there to get the olive oil that I love because Vons has been out of it and the display barely has anything. This store is not only understaffed. It has had a feeling of we don't give a crap about you for quite a while now. I'd like to say I'll shop somewhere else but where? My choices are Smart and Final which has some of the things I buy and Food For Less which is usually out of whatever I'm looking for or Grocery Outlet which rarely has the same thing twice. Thank God for Templeton's farmer's market where I can get my meat and vegetables. I miss having a grocery store with employees I recognize and say hi to you like they actually remember you, like you live in a small town and not in corporate America. read more

This cons always has fresh produce and meat, the layout of the store works well. The only issue I have is, it always has really long long lines. The self checkout lanes don't always work as well. Poole don't understand if you have a little amount of items you go to a certain aisle. I've seen people with two shopping carts full go to the express checkouts. The workers done say anything. It causes congestion and frustration for people who are there to get in and out with just one to two items. read more

Great store we are lucky enough to have 4 major grocery stores in our wonderful town. Vons has great produce and there Fresh Hot French Bread every hour for $1.50 from 4pm to 7pm is amazing. But I love how clean it always is no matter how busy. There meat is alway fresh. These day it is about the deals so I am always watching the sale paper to take advantage and Vons is a big help. read more

I've had to shop here for years, since Spencers left, smart and final is even worse and the produce at food 4 less is old and rots in no time. It's an ok store, what makes it less than ok is the fact there are no carts. You have to find your own cart, and while you're unloading the groceries people are asking for the cart. Have the homeless people taken all the carts? Could they buy some more carts? Gotta have a cart to shop, dontcha think? Then the lines, there were dozens of people in the two checkouts that were open, they call all cashiers to the front, and then no baggers show up! Every customer was bagging their own, ya, I do that at food 4 less, but they make it convenient to do so. Idk, everyone blames everything on the pandemic but I think they just have a bunch of lazy people working there. I know for a fact the one bagger is always walking around doing nothing, he's just a load. I can't figure it out, if I performed that way at work I wouldn't have a job, would you? read more

I just went to Vons in Atascadero California. Many of the customers were not wearing face masks. I reported this to two managers but both said that people could opt out if they had health issues. None of the people not wearing masks were even questioned by staff. Vons is breaking state law by not requiring all customers wear face masks. read more

This wont stop me from shopping at VONS but i'm a bit disappointed. I'm a loyal customer. I will pay more at VONS then go somewhere else. However, when things like this happen i start to think my loyalty is one sided. I called to inquire about getting a cake make. I would like to have a photo printed on the cake. The nice young lady said that was possible. I asked, if i were to email you the photo as i dont have it in physical form if that would work. She politely said VONS will not let them use the printer for this. I also dont have a printer. Forces me to use someone else. What is really wrong here is she didn't even call a manager and ask. Not sure what a 50.00 cake is worth to vons but a 2 min inquiry and 3 cent copy would have sealed the deal. I also like to state the obvious. Not one comment or effort from management from this store to address people's bad comments here on yelp. Maybe what they are saying is true about their customer service. Companies cant control every employee or situation so I always look for a reply. This proves the management wants to address issues. But when nothing at all is said or done... Vons is usually a pretty nice store, and this one has a loony way to go. It's been overpriced since their remodel of the Starbucks inside the store. With that being said it's usually fine but I have got expired food numerous times now. Never enough staff check out takes for ever. The baggers left food out numerous times. Lastly I just stood in line to get a sandwich for 15 minutes with 6 people in line to never be asked if I needed help. Ended up walking over to mr.pickles. This store really is awful. The deli food is substandard. Prices are ridiculously high. Customer service is non-existent or flat out rude. I shopped there twice and will never step foot inside again. Well worth it to shop at Trader Joes in Templeton or go to San Luis Obispo to Ralphs or Costco. Vons is such an outdated place. Try and get dungeness crab here, they carry Alaskan crab legs, flordia, crab claws, but no dungeness crab! I asked why not, I bought dungeness crab at albertsons, food 4 less, but not vons. The meat manager has argued with me several times over past six years. Two weeks ago, and last Friday i talk to talk butcher with full beard, he gave me party line reasons why they don't have it and cannot get it. Then second butcher said: "We have a case in back". This store is currently in a remodel. I have worked at stores under going remodeling. When stuff is not in the shelf you ask for it and they get it for you from the back. I asked the MANAGER of the store where the hot dogs were or if someone could grab me a pack. He said and I quote "I don't know maybe over there (pointing to raw chicken) I have something else to do right now" Well I guess it's back to smart and final and their own brand of bad. I handed a winning Lotto ticket to the person at the customer service counter. It would have taken less than ten seconds for them to hand me my $4. Instead they decided to answer the phone first and turn their back to me to avoid eye contact. So I stood there for nearly five minutes waiting for the call to end before they gave me my money. I like this grocery store! Their bakery is the best supermarket bakery in town hands down. Their fruit tart is AMAZING, and a go-to whenever I am hosting friends or family at my house. I like shopping at Vons...dont get me wrong but the prices are a little steep and the lines are ALWAYS long (which although incovenient shows how successful the store is right?). Other than the before mentioned, ive always found the employees top notch in customer service and am always impressed by the cleanliness of the store and the overall layout. Why was there no Passover food displayed this year (2018) in Atascadero, CA? There was always one in the past. We also lost our Albertson's last year and have to travel about 15 miles to get to one (but it is worth it because the quality and selection is far better than at our Vons). This Von's often has prices missing on produce and it seems no one is careful about being sure that info is there. It is also disappointing that they are charging much more for produce if it is sold in wrapped packages instead of by the pound from bins where the customer can pick and choose their produce. Often our "discount" stores (Smart and Final and sometimes Food for Less) have better produce and lower prices. I want to add how wasteful and awful the Von's policy is now about holiday flowers the day after the holiday. For years they (and Albertson's when we had that store here) would put the overstock of non-bought flowers on sale. For those of us without extra money it was really fun to be able to get flowers at 1/2 price once in a while. So, what do they do now? They bag them up, crush them and throw them into the garbage! I wonder if they do that with food too instead of contributing it to the food banks for folks who are struggling financially. read more

I like Vons for their organic fruits and vegetable section. It has a nice variety and the price is about par if not a little less than Whole Foods. They also sell bison ground beef which I can't get anyplace else on North County except JE Naturals. Only thing to watch are the expiration dates of the meat. It doesn't sell fast so get the stuff in the back. read more

I have loved this store in the past and continue to shop here because it is convenient and most of the time, has great prices. However, management really needs to pay more attention to their busy times. This store is so dark and claustrophobic. The isles are full of staff stocking shelves which makes the already narrow isles almost impossible to navigate. They seem to be stocking no matter what time of day I am there. I was looking for whole wheat bread crumbs and was told by a checker that "what you see, is what you get"...that was helpful. Overall I miss the Albertsons that used to be in town. Hard to believe two stores owned by the same company can be so different! read more

Sooooo I called in an order for sandwiches. They said 15 min. I gave it 25. When I showed up they said we don't have those sandwiches on our menu anymore. I literally looked right at the menu on their board. What I had called the "Primo Italiano" is now called the "Gourmet Italian." Exact same ingredients. I went to Vons at 7pm tonight (Monday) there was Regular lane open and a express lane open. In the express lane was 3 cashiers/courtesy clerk with no customers, in the regular lane was 1 cashier with 5 plus customers in line.... The cashier was bagging for himself and we were all waiting patiently!!!! Like for real??? If the chit chatting employees simply looked outside there register they would've seen us. I go to Vons mostly because it's close to home and right off the freeway... Next time I will stop off at Whole Foods... They try to keep their lines 2 people or less. Another quality Vons on the Central Coast. I really wish the Vons in Southern California were still as good the ones on the Central Coast. On Friday, March 17th, we went to the bakery to get some St Patrick's Day cupcakes. The man stocking shelves in the bakery asked if he could help us find something. When my wife told him we what we were looking for he showed her everything decorated for St Patrick's Day but there were only large and small cakes left, which wouldn't work because we were taking them to volunteer workers with no utensils. He said they had been so busy he hadn't had time to make more but said if he could have a couple of minutes he would make them up. This young gentleman got us 24 decorated cupcakes for St Patrick's Day in a flash and with a smile. Only regret is that since we were in a hurry, my wife forgot to get his name. We hope the manager will read this and make him employee of the month! read more
