I was just at Von Maur in Orland Park where i purchased a few baby girl and 3 yr old boy gifts. I'm writing this because I had the absolute BEST sales associate. She went above and beyond to box my gifts and make them look so special. She was super personable and pleasant and just an overall great person and employee! I have noticed that Von Maur employees are always very pleasant, courteous & helpful. The store itself is always clean and neat. The piano player is a nice added touch. I disagree with other reviewers' negative comments. Perhaps not everyone will fall in love with Von Maur, but those who seek upscale quality and service (and a pleasant shopping environment) compared to what stores like Kohl's, Target, Ross, Marshall's, etc. offer are sure to find gratification here. This pristine new store in a space previously occupied by Carson's is a unique and welcome addition to a spiffy mall that has thus far survived the migration towards online shopping. Coming in from the hustle and bustle of the mall, you feel as though you've traveled back to an era when old school department stores were "in." Instead of annoying piped-in pop music, your eardrums are gently caressed with live piano music (we were entertained by a violin and guitar duo). The merchandise displays are attractive and the aisles are uncluttered. Von Maur is not at all snooty. Store personnel are friendly and extraordinarily helpful. Customers are welcomed and treated like guests, and are never pressured to buy anything. There are comfortable places to sit throughout the store, and the fitting rooms and restrooms are immaculate. Among other perks, Von Maur offers complimentary giftwrapping and has a generous return policy. Compared to Yorktown, the Orland Square store is smaller. True, a significant percentage of the merchandise can be categorized as luxury, but my Missus walked away quite happy with two large shopping bags of reasonably-priced outfits and unique Holiday gifts. read more

Von Maur has picked up right where the old Marshall Fields left off. This is a very nice store, and easily the anchor for the whole Orland Square Mall. When Fields closed up at Orland Square and Macy's replaced it, there was a vacuum. You will never confuse Macy's with Marshall Fields, for those that experienced Fields downtown or out in the suburbs. So the Mall was missing a slightly classier kind of place to shop ... Von Maur to the rescue. The items they carry are just a bit higher-class than the run of the mill stuff you might find at Macy's or Carson's or Penney's, and the prices are pretty similar to a bit higher. You can also find the one-of-a-kind thing every once in awhile. Whoever is in charge of buying for the Von Maur store knows their stuff. Classy merchandise at an affordable price and presented in as attractive way. Even the space between racks is a bit larger here, and you are not as crowded as at the other stores. Classy all around - even have a piano player every once in awhile. I only wish that the store was bigger - like the one in Yorktown. Recommended. read more

My daughter and I came to Avon Maur shoe department to purchase a pair of dress shoes to match her homecoming dress. After waiting and not getting acknowledged I brought the shoes to the African American female employee and asked for her size and she said she will bring them right out. After 10 minutes of watching her do nothing and not getting the shoes we need we had to walk out. There were two other employees there as well that were standing around and no one could get us a pair of shoes. This is the second time these same employees did this to us. Why obviously have the money for shoes considering we had 5 other bags of stuff we bought that day. Once is a bad employee but twice shows how your store is ran. read more

I visited this Von Maur finally after all this time and all the advertising promoting this place. I can definitely say is that I really enjoy this store. It has something for me everyone here. The men's section isn't too big but to me it's preferentially perfect size. There's a huge lounge area to put on shoes. Plenty of dressing rooms. They have Mens Sportswear and they're all pretty stylish. The staff was friendly, eager to help and competent as well. The rest of the first floor is primarily women's attire. You go to the second floor, you got children clothing, they have a gift section that I had SO MUCH fun browsing through. They have decor, other odds and ends. Overall I definitely love this store and will be back. Sure stuff is higher end, much more pricey but the products they sell here and especially the stuff on sale is better than most department stores. The appearance of this place is a 5 star look inside and out! Tons of people here as well. Definitely recommend visiting Von Maur. read more

People wrongly assume that this is just a high priced store. I find that they have high quality merchandise at reasonable prices. You get what you pay for. There are great sales, too. On my last trip I got a $75 blouse for $14! The store is pleasant to shop in. Isles are wide enough between racks of clothing, not all crammed together like some stores. read more

The store is beautiful ! I just visited the location for their soft opening , and the sales associates are extremely friendly and helpful. The clothes are pricey and definitely high fashion . According to the sales associate, there won't be any coupons . But they will do great markdowns throughout the week. All of their merchandise will be kept on the floor and not in the stock room. read more

This store opened today. It looks real nice. Although it won't replace Carson pirie scott, it looks promising. One of the managers explained that they have 2 different types of credit cards with no interest rate. They also carry one of a kind vintage purses from Europe & movies. read more

I was in Von Maur on December 30th at the Orland park location. I was in fragrance with my family and overheard one of the associates tell her coworker to "watch them" the associate walks over and ask if we need any help. I tell her no but then proceeded to ask her about a fragrance. Then I asked her did she just tell you to watch us ? She looked at me dropped her head and said "yes" and started to apologize to me and my family. I told her no need to apologize, it's not your fault. She just confirmed what I heard. I then walk up to the associate that made the comment and asked her what her name was. She said "Connie" I said well Connie why did you tell your associate to watch us? She said no I would never say anything like that. I said Connie I heard you. She repeats no I would never say anything like that. A co worker she was standing next to also said "no she would never say anything like that ". I reported her to her manager. Who apologized and said that this type of behavior is not tolerated in there store. I do shop at Von Maur but I'll never shop there again after the treatment my family and I received. read more

I bought something on sale and it didn't fit my husband. I tried to return it the next day and found out it was a final sale. They showed me on the back of the receipt that states anything marked down twice is final sale. My mistake and I'm okay with that. The problem is when I bought it I wasn't aware that they take off all the tags. I can't give it as a gift because there are no tags on it! I told them it looks like I'm giving something that was worn. They said it's policy to take off tags. I asked for the big cardboard tag that had a string around the button. Sorry, no tags on final sale. Doesn't state that on receipt. Beware!!! read more

I felt safe when shopping here. The staff is taking the proper safety precautions. I love Von Maur because they have a nice children's section. It is hard to find cute boys' clothes, and they always have something for our family's needs. I also love their selection of kids' shoes. It is very hard to find nice kids shoes and Von Maur always has a nice selection. I love the personal touches, free gift wrap and they always ship my presents for free to my out of state relatives. read more

Beautiful store with excellent customer service. They carry very nice, classy merchandise and have amazing sales on marked down items. Final sale items are clearly marked AND the sales associate tells you they can't be returned. The final sale items are marked at unbelievably low prices, so I understand the return policy. I had an interview for shoe department manager a month ago. First I had a phone interview then an in person interview. After that I received an email stating I did not get the job. Ok no biggie. I see on indeed there hiring for another department manager so I apply again the same woman calls me and stats how I didn't go to the interview etc etc. long story short I went to the interview and as they asked how much I would want to get paid I initially said $23 then my in person interview the question was asked again and I said $25. So what happened with my first interview I didn't get the job cause I was asking for too much money and they cap at $23. I'm sorry if you want me to where a suit everyday $23 isn't cutting it. Also the gentleman that interviewed me said he's been with the company for 20yrs the man had one tooth in his mouth so not only does the pay suck but you must not have good insurance. read more

I normally go to the location in Yorktown but I was out in the south suburbs this weekend decided to stop at one of my favorite stores Von maur . Well this is one of the times it was not one of my favorite stores stop in a Schmidn shoe department there was an African-American gentleman watching football instead of taking care of the customers I made myself visible so there's no man could see me maybe he wasn't paying attention he walked up next to me took the remote and turn the channel to another football game never once acknowledged me or is asking if I need an assistant Well to avail I decided to get a pair of shoes but I had to go to your competitor Macy's but just to let you know that Jermont is very rude he's more interested in watching sports on your television you may recommend turning that television off because he's not paying attention to the clients and for them to walk next to me while I was looking at shoes and to take the remote for the television to another channel without offering assistance so lack of professionalism. So don't think I ever be visiting this far Mars store again I have never ever been treated like this and I refuse to go somewhere that people are not professional and have cook customer service read more

I was so happy to see this store coming to Orland Park Mall. The selection of goods is unique and the quality of their items is amazing. There customer service is impecable and their employees are so nice and helpful. I do wish the store was larger like the on in Yorktown but I am very pleased I do not have to always travel up to Yorktown to do some quality shopping. The mall has needed a good upscale retailer since Marshall Fields closed and Von Mauer more than meets those expectations. While not a Saks or Neiman's, they have never tried to compete with them in any of their stores, the brands they offer combined with their impecable customer service makes them a wonderful and much needed addition to the mall. read more

I went in for the first time today. The store is bright, clean, and love the pianist. Upon browsing, the shoe and handbag department were decent. Most of the clothes were of cheap quality (F21) and never heard of brands. The impression I got was they're a cheap department store trying to fool you into thinking you're at Nordstrom. Most of the stores at a Orland are now cheap boutique type clothing. Stick with a Oakbrook if you have a more upscale palet or taste. You can put lipstick on a pig, it it's still a pig.
