Can you get anymore low quality?

They're consistent in that they keep lowering the bar. Congrats Von Ebert as your breakfast burrito is one of the worst in recent memory. It tasted premade and it was deep fried reminiscent of what you'd find at the Safeway deli counter. When I asked for "half the bacon" I got a nod, but doubtful they did anything with that request. The salsa: frickin' packets like at a gas station mini mart. Nobody I know - even regulars at Glendoveer - rave about the food. I wish the club would part ways with this place.

I love that this is what opened in this space after Ringside Steakhouse vacated. The menu for food has changed over the years. But I like the pizza and beer with other gourmet types of bar food on the menu including salads. The beer shines in all its award winning glory - and I've enjoyed every beer I've tried here so far. I do love a good Pilsner and they do that very well! I'd like to make it here for happy hour one day as I hear they have $10 pizzas. Bar service is great! There's some issues with either the floor or some of the bar stools in front of the bar (kinda rickety) annoys me every time. But I'll forgive them for having wonky chairs when the beer is so dang good!

I had eaten one already! Food was great!

We hadn't been here for quite a while. We came for lunch and it was great! We had the taco trio. It was very good, the shredded beaf was excellent along with salsa. I also had a cup of chili. It was very good. The service was also excellent and very attentive. The beer was fabulous. We will definitely be back. I would highly recommend eating here.

We needed someplace last minute while in Portland. Three of us for lunch on a Sunday at noon. We waited for a host but waited for a few until we walked back and someone seated us. Menus were on the table. Our waiter arrived, brought us water and took our drink order which was just water. As we attempted to place our order the first FOUR items we requested were out. No pretzel, no 12" pizzas ( they could make a 16" but not 12), on and on. We finally rested with sandwiches and fries. Food came out quick yet mostly cold. Our sandwiches were very tasty but all the fries were soggy and cold. We ordered the fries with herbs and cheese and aioli. The Aioli was so good and we wanted more but the waiter never returned. We ate for about 20 minutes then waited at least another 30 min before we got up to get our check. We found our waiter with another employee eating behind a counter. When I approached our waiter turned away from us and I had to ask for help. Without washing their hands, they printed the bill and gave to me. I quickly paid. The waiter seriously stood right in front of me while was deciding on a tip. I seriously felt uncomfortable so I probably gave a lower than normal tip. I really think this place could be great but no one at this location seemed to care. If notice in the pictures, it's not busy. Hopefully they'll try and improve.

Portland Pizza Week alert One of our favorite places near our home, Von Ebert Brewing, is featuring one of the best pizzas of Mercury Pizza week, the Cubano Pie, made by their talented chef. This delicious dish is filled with spicy and tangy flavors, including pork, Swiss, smoked pork, black forest ham, pickles, and a drizzle of mijo. The award winning beers are awesome #MERCURYPIZZA #vonebert

Location, location, location! I have a friend who lives crawling distance from this spot. Both she and I had dismissed it just assuming that neither of us would find things here. I am allergic to hops so beer and me are not friends (more for the rest of you!) and she is vegan. I was is serious need to find us some lunch nearby and typed in vegan with her address. I clicked on the menu thinking yeah right when I saw not just one thing but a multiple amount of vegan options?!? She said she always thought about dropping in but thought there was no way they would have anything for her to eat and she is not really a drinker. So, we sat in a brewpub with a Pepsi and a Dr Pepper! That pizza though...seriously, you will not even notice their shroom pizza is vegan - it is ridiculously good and would have earned them 5 stars except... so, the folks who eventually come to you are super nice. It took forever for the weird menu app to load and get it to work ok. I ordered my drink and a second later it was there but basically unless you order, forget seeing anyone. They dropped the pizza off and ran...and we never saw anyone again so my friend went up and grabbed napkins to take the rest of the pizza home. It is all about the crust and that was some of the better pizza crust I have had in this town so I had to four stars just for that.

    VEB Haus
    Janell H.

The VEB Haus salad was seriously delicious! The combination of the pickled onions, avocado, pepitas, cheese...etc was so good. Our server was great up until we were finished and ready to go. He seemed to have disappeared and we had to ask another server for our check. Other than that, a very pleasant experience.

Von Ebert's A Night in Tallinn.

I have had beer from Von Ebert before and my latest outing with it was fairly solid. We had the porter, A Night in Tallinn. Not a bad porter at all. Perhaps not the most unique that I have come across but I was entertained by it nonetheless. This porter has flavor features of a rich, smooth and velvety texture and flavor. The maltiness is pleasant and the sweetness is appropriately dispensed to the point where it's not too weighed down by sugar. A fairly enjoyable porter overall that we had at this location which continues to affirm our (Me and Steve's) overall positivity with this brewery.

Their tap list is extensive but also includes non-standard options. We love to see non-alcoholic beers as well as gluten free beer, cider, cocktails, and other libations. The food menu is great too. There are several items that either come gluten free or can be modified to be. The servers are knowledgeable about the ingredients of the menu items and I feel confident and safe eating here when gluten free is a need for me. They can get pretty crowded, but have several seating options. It was nice out today so outdoor seating was even possible, though it looked like there was a wait. There are tvs in several spots that showcase local sports when possible. There is a kids area and you can sit close while the kids play. Everyone we come in contact with here from servers to hosts are super friendly and welcoming. The food is pretty good. This time around, we shared the garlic Parmesan fries and the chicken wings (buffalo and honey gojuchang sauces). The wings were smoked and moist with good flavor. The fries were alright. More of the aioli would have helped so maybe request extra sauce or get some on the side. The dessert menu has some non-traditional offerings. The highlight for me was the cheesecake. I was assured by a server one time that the chef creates a gluten free cheesecake that rotates on the seasonal dessert menu. The current offering is tiramisu. The coffee chocolate sauce is good and I appreciated the bonus chocolate chip biscotti. The actual cheesecake is decent and I would be excited to try other flavors in the future.

Great rooftop vibe and a fun place to hang out for an afternoon. We ordered a beer flight, and as someone who's had quite a few brewery flights and is pretty open-minded when it comes to beer, this one unfortunately missed the mark for me. Out of the 10 beers, only about 3 were somewhat enjoyable and around 4 were honestly undrinkable. Thankfully, the food redeemed things a bit. We got the pizza with artichoke hearts, mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, and basil. It was super flavorful and the dough was delicious, especially the crust. We also tried the catfish po' boy. It was a little salty, but the fish itself was cooked really well and the sauce was tasty. The spring mix salad with cranberries, slivered almonds, and feta was good too, though I personally would've liked a better toppings-to-lettuce ratio. Overall, I'd come back for the rooftop and food, but probably know to expect mediocre brews.

Simple with pepitas, kale and raddicio. Cheese and dressing. Their beers are some of my favorite from a local brewery. Their Cloud Mentality is a good choice for IPAs. The line gets long for the bar and there's no way to close your tab if you leave it open unless you're willing to wait in the line again to pay. If you don't do that you will be automatically charged 20% gratuity which is a good deal to not have to line up just to close out.

The fantasy and the Dungeons & Dragons themes are really fun and totally calls to me. So therefore with our first experience here I stocked up on a lot of swag- shirts! My first beer with this brewery was a Red Ale or Amber Ale, The Lady of Embers. This was a very enjoyable first time beer with this brewery. Flavor features in this beer are Caramel, a roastiness, maltiness, biscuity and a dry finish. It proved to be a fun beer to try out for the first time and we were eager to come back and try more of their beers. A bit of time passed and we were able to do that. This time we got three different beers of different types to give us a well rounded experience with their beers. Cascade Falls was the first beer on the second experience that we delved into. This beer is a Cream Ale and I haven't had one in a while so I was quite eager to get a hold of another one again. This particular Cream Ale had peaches and vanilla as the primary flavors and they were pretty good. It was sweet but not heavy handed which made this beer pleasant. This beer was a collaboration beer with another brewery, Thunder Island Brewing Company. After that I moved into dark beer territory and got a stout by the name of The Ashbringer. This one I rated very highly on Untappd because I enjoyed the flavor profile so very much! This stout has flavor highlights of roastiness, a spiced presence, coffee, chocolate and some clove. It was a really well made stout...well balanced and one I really got into. I believe actually this was my favorite beer out of the several I have tried. The last beer was a Marzen beer, a type that isn't too terribly common but always a good one when I can get a hold of it. The name of this beer was the Hasta La Raiz. This is a nice light bodied beer that has maltiness, roastiness, some fruitiness and a bit of a floral presence. It was a fun one to try out for sure. TPK Brewing also serves food and it's quite good! We grazed off of several different appetizers here that we really enjoyed. The first one was the Yuca Frita which was Yucca cut into big, thick French Fries sort cuts and we dipped it into a green sauce as well as a pico de gallo type of dip which enhanced the experience. In addition to that we got a beef empanada that Steve and I split along with the same sauces...also excellent and then to round out our snacking here we got the Arepitas De Queso which is a white masa cake mixed with cheese and then deep fried. It also had the same sauces as the previous two appetizers but we were fine with that... we were all about it and deep into it. Steve and loved this place and would be thrilled to come back to enjoy more of their food and beers !

You'd think they'd phone-it-in, but there's a great selection of Latin food. Everything from Cubanos to bowls to burritos.
