Nice neighborhood restaurant serving comfort food with friendly, honest service.
First, the concept of this place is great. It's basically kid food for adults with a focus on schnitzel, it's basically giant chicken tenders except you can get beef tenders or veal tenders too. The sauces are good, if simple with the default being garlic mayo, ketchup and coleslaw. They also do sandwiches on challah. The only complaint about the sandwiches is that they can be a bit dry between the bread and the breading. I found them to be better with some of slaw that my wife wasn't eating.
The service has always been great. They are fast and friendly and will give real advice about what to order. I asked if I should try the sausage or the schnitzel and the server said, "Well, you're at a schnitzel restaurant. So, I'd probably go with the schnitzel." Spot on, a bit funny, and helpful.
The only possible complaints are that the food isn't cheap--it's easy for it to be over £20/person--and they can sometimes be a tiny bit pushy with the sides--although the Parmesan chips and the hispi cabbage were both really good. read more
