Steins offers great tasting authentic Bavarian fare. We love it and come back to recharge Bavarian taste buds. Food is well prepared and always tasty. Accompanied by a good choice of Bavarian beers and spirits It's like being back in Munich with our family!

Steins really should be a 3.5*, but I'll round up for the lovely view. Sitting out next to the river on a warm summers night is definitely the way to go here! We don't drink alcohol so I can't say much in that regard - but the table next to us sure did like their beverages... We shared a pretzel to start, and it was lovely and firm and chewy. Definitely worth having with a few drinks, if you're that way inclined. The wait for our food was ages. Like 30-45 minutes. It wasn't that busy and no apologies were made, so I think this may be their model on purpose, as most people would have gotten through at least 2 beers in that amount of time. We had a couple of schnitzels, mine being the better of the two. It was a seasonal special with white asparagus and hollandaise sauce. Really lovely, but they did bring out the wrong meal to me - and by the time they replaced it, my dining partner was done with his meal. His schnitzel was fine, but having not that long before had an amazing, amazing schnitzel in Cologne, it was a bit of a let down and not as good as we'd hoped. But in isolation, it was a perfectly acceptable meal. If I was in the area, I could be tempted to pop in again but I definitely wouldn't make a special trip there again.

I went to Stein's on a recommendation through Yelp in my area and I'm not disappointed with my choice. I had high expectations because I've never tasted German food before, let alone even been to Germany but Stein's made a great impression on me and my friends. The service was fantastic and excellent. I need to commend our waitress Diane for her great job at servicing us - she was right with us all the time and gave friendly recommendations. I had asked her for what her name for for the purpose of this review so that I could write this review. I was a little bit weary about the service given one review which said that their party waited ages to have their food ordered. I have had the opposite experience so I can't comment on that. In any case, the setting by the river, the friendly staff, full housed restaurant and great food made me a fan! The food itself was delicious as were the German beers. By default, if you're going to a German Restaurant, you must taste the beers. I do recommend trying the Erdinger Weissbier beer which is great for someone who likes wheat beer which is very sweet tasting. I ordered number #30 on the menu which was Nuremberg grilled sausages with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection with the mashed potatoes deliciously creamy. The sausages tasted as you'd expect them but they were a little thinner than I would have liked. A friend of ours actually came quite late so we actually had 40 minutes to eat our food. This was definitely enough time which might mean that the dishes are quite small for some people. Personally, I was a little full but I didn't finish off the sauerkraut which I think was a little too sour for my liking. All in all, it was a great German experience and I will most certainly come back whenever I feel the need for sausages. Of course, there are other things on the menu that I didn't try out that were not sausages but you can't eat everything at one go. As always, I attach pictures of not only my food by my friend's with full captions on what they are.

My first try at authentic German cuisine :) Thos is a great pub for a chillax evening with friends and beer and food. A great way to end the day and relax by the Thames. I would definitely come back. If you just wanted a refresh drink then try their homemade lemonade which I found to be a perfect thirst quencher and complimented my chicken salad very well.

Why does the happy hour from 5-7 include everything but beer?? Seems like this place is trying too hard to fit into the German stereotype. It didn't really feeel authentic German. "Let's just call it Stein's and put the entire menu in German, they'll fall for it!" Although no food was consumed at our table, heard several complaints from other customers around me about their meals. However, I can't stop thinking about that stein of dark Paulaner I had. Based on that, I will happily back up their selection. Additional pluses: Free wi-fi and right on the river.

The beer mug boot comes in 1 and 2 liter sizes try the Edinger very good beer.

But then what do you expect from a pub that is 600 years old! The Bell is Molesey's oldest pub, and in the top 20 of oldest pubs in Britain. I have been going there since I was 5. (I would like to point out that the only thing I got from the bar at that age was a packet of cheese and onion crisps.) The large pub garden is still a great place to sit with a packet of crisps in the summer, although these days I wash them down with something a bit stronger than ribena. The locals still turn out in their numbers here, and there are plenty of little corners in this twisty turny old pub to stake out. One of the rooms off the bar has a TV with sports, and on the last Saturday of every month, this is the venue for Wii night, where the TV is tuned to Wii Sports, and customers take part in interactive sports games. The other entertainment to watch out for is the popular pub quiz which is every Tuesday. Even if your team is loosing, you can still look forward to a complimentary plate of chips for every team during half time. If you a still hungry after the chips, there is a full menu of traditional pub fare also on offer which is available from 12pm - 9pm. This is a great pub if you are visiting Hampton Court Palace, as it is only a 10-15 minute walk from the Palace and perfectly compliments the Tudor experience.

If you are a resident and have never been, shame on you! If you haven't been and are an out of towner then I won't tell you off, but please let me explain why it is worth a visit. - Its idyllic setting. Esher is a built up town, but this nestles proudly in a little corner of a large common, overlooking a pond and a church, so it retains a village feel. - The interior. In cold dark months, of which we have many, this is the cosiest, most inviting place you could imagine. Dark floorboards creak underneath you as you head to the bar. The place is alive with the hum and chatter of locals, and there is no jukebox or music playing - you will be required to make the conversation yourself. For a relatively small place, this has plenty of little nooks that you can sink into with a pint or a glass of wine. - The exterior. There is also a large well kept pub garden with plenty of large tables to sit groups of people in warmer weather. Come summer this place is packed out. - The food. Freshly prepared I would like to add. The dishes are more sophisticated than usual pub fare, so no burger and chips. But you can look forward to dishes like meatballs, chicken pie, croque monsieur, cheese and meat boards and Sunday Roasts. Plenty of puddings too. At the moment it is just lunch which is being served, but chefs are working on a possible dinner service. I highly advise a visit to this place. Trust me, you will love it.
