Sunday Roast

This place was amazing! The food was delicious and the staff/chefs were so friendly I cannot wait to come back when I get back to London one day!

The Castle was located on our daily route from our place to the train, so I often would walk by and see crowds of people enjoying happy hour cocktails spilling out onto the street. Looked like a fun place so I bookmarked this for later. After noticing it was somewhat hard to be seated in a group at restaurants, we made a reservation for a Sunday Roast dinner. I noticed we were running late, so I called the restaurant and they held our table. After a long day of touristy stuff, we were hungry. My family ordered their favorite comfort foods including a watermelon salad, the chicken roast, the beef roast, steak and fish & chips. The kids had lemonade and we ordered a little beer and wine. Dinner was good and service was as well, good spot for a nice Sunday Roast.

My friend and I decided to stop by here after a chocolate making class nearby for a midday pint and a quick snack. I grabbed an apple cider, which was tasty, but a little too sweet for my taste. We also decided to share the halloumi fries , which were AMAZING. The outer layer was a good amount of crisp, and the saltiness of the halloumi paired SO well with the chipotle jam. The chipotle jam was sweet, with a hint of spice. It was a perfect pairing for a midday snack!

Close pub if your staying at the Hyatt. Great little place, at first we had no idea you had to order your items at the bar until we saw that notation on the menu. Besides that great selection of beer, menu is short and sweet and the food is excellent. Great ambiance for a pub and really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff so that made our stay enjoyable. Arancini balls

I chose here after reading decent yelp reviews so we came here for dinner on a Thursday evening after being at the beer festival. We ordered arancini balls and brisket cubes to share to begin. These were OK. For my main I ordered the chicken burger with avocado and ham. They had no ham left but they added salami. Ordered sides of sweet potato fries and truffle mac & cheese balls. Staff seemed a tad all over the place but were overall pleasant. The sweet potato fries were cold. Yes cold. They shouldn't be cold. The only reason this is not a two or less is the truffle mac & cheese balls were absolutely delightful.

Buffalo mozzarella, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and cream fraiche. Delicious!!

No stars. Slow service and no ice tonight...so you cannot have a proper drink! .

This restaurant was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I ordered the beef roast, and we also shared a side of the creamy cauliflower, which was to die for. I truly cannot sing the praises of this restaurant enough. The service was personable and welcoming, making it easy and comfortable to ask questions and try new things. One of the managers (apologies I don't know her name) checked in on us several times and even encouraged a few of us to try additional menu items. The food came out quickly, and once it arrived, the table went completely silent because we were all too busy enjoying every bite. I highly, highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting London and even the locals. A solid 10/10 experience!

If I could rate this place a 10/5 I would. This was a death row meal for me. WOW…read more We came here for a sunday roast with 8 people, of those 2 got fish & chips- the rest the roast. I was a fish person, and I am SO HAPPY I did! The fish at this restuarant will live in my head forever. Im not joking. I live in the US and I almost want to fly back to London just to have it again. The roast looked great too, many of my friends saying the meat was great and the gravy was flavorful. The staff were ALL so friendly, even offering the charge a phone that was dying! The place itself feels like it's straight out of a movie, a true london pub. I cannot stop thinking about this fish. Mall Tavern, if youre ever in Minnesota, please send me the recipe.

One eventually came to our table after sitting awhile. I of course had to try the fish n chips. A couple of veggie burgers were ordered and a regular burger. Surprisingly happy hour was still on at 8 o'clock so drinks were ordered. The food all came at the same time and everything was cool. The fish had a nice flavor from the fried batter. To me it was similar to Long John Silvers as far as the batter is concerned, but slightly better quality overall. The fries were standard. The only thing horrible was the very bland mashed green peas. They should be omitted from every pub across the country, but I think it is a traditional item included with the fish. The cocktails were good as well as the price. The sticky toffee pudding was something else I was advised to try while in London. I must admit it was really delicious. It came with a scoop of ginger ice cream and a warm buttery toffee sauce to pour over. It was delightfully warm and sweet and paired well with the ice cream. The cake itself was moist enough on its own with notes of brown sugar and molasses. I could have had seconds and thirds of this desert. Yum! The majority of my party didn't think the food was fantastic. The burgers happened to be somewhat alright. This was a first for me having pub food and I would have more again as long as I stick to the basics.

Yes, there are many pubs in London, everyone has their favorite, everyone has their local, and my "local" depends on where I am staying. In any case, several of us met here. The place was definitely hopping but one of our group arrived early and grabbed a table. We all ordered drinks, I had beer which was delicious. After perusing the menu, I ordered the standard- Fish & Chips, with Mushy Peas. It came out quickly and was fried to perfection. Everybody else who ordered food seemed happy with their choices. It was a great setting to meet up with friends, and I will happily come back here when in the area. A solid pub in a city of many pubs!
