Popped in for a couple drafts and fish & chips. You order (everything) from your friendly neighborhood barkeep (I requested the Timothy Taylor's and sauntered off to find a comfortable table to await the fish & chips. A long draw from my pint & a couple minutes led to my dinner delivery (not sure how they knew where I was? Magic?). I received a healthy portion of crispyly crusted and PERFECTLY cooked fried cod with peas & nicely flavored crisps (I do wish they were hot on delivery). I had a crisp delicious Guinness for dessert. When I think of a pub, Three Tuns is exactly what I picture, dark wood, happy and friendly patrons and good food. We came across their website and read the menu and knew that we had to come in and have some food. We came on a Friday so it was quiet busy, but we were able to find a table right at the entrance. You have to order from the bar, we sat there for a little thinking a server would come and help. For starters we had the batter halloumi and for my mains I ordered the steak and ale pie with the triple cooked chips while Bryan ordered the vintage cheddar and bacon burger with chips and a side of onion rings, we're not drinkers so I had a ginger beer and Bryan had a coke. We did wait a really long time, apparently there was a huge party at the pub and so they were a bit backed up in the kitchen, they didn't get a chance to tell us that, but they were really apologetic for the wait. Our food though was really delicious, I had never had halloumi cheese before but it was so salty and cheesy it was so good, I need that in my life. My chips were really crisp and it paired so well with the gravy, my pie was tasty too, the meat consistency was a just a little strange for me, too soft really. Bryan said that his burger was the best we had on the trip and we had plenty so that is saying a lot. I really give this place a 4.5, the food was good, the consistency on the meat for my pie was a little strange but it was really flavorful and the wait time for food made me a little hangry, but would definitely come back! read more

We specifically asked the counter when we ordered to ensure that the hot chips were hot. Food came out lukewarm. Even the mashed potato. It tasted fatty coz theynwere not hot. No wonder they took long to come out. Good plating. Not coming back again. read more

I finally had the chance to try the Three Tuns pub. I often stay at the Doubletree across the street, and have observed it gets quite busy after work with the local office workers, who often overflow onto the sidewalk. At 1530, they were not very busy so I ordered the salmon cakes with salad and onion rings for takeaway. The young ladies at behind the bar were very nice and helpful. The atmosphere is that of an old small neighborhood pub. The salmon cakes were quite good, with plenty of salmon chunks. The salad was fresh with light oil and vinegar. The onion rings were tasty, but they were mostly breading with a lot of oil. Overall my experience at the Three Tuns was very good, and will certainly be back on my next trip to London. read more

This was the first pub we stopped in when we arrived in London. It was close to the hotel and we tried to go in a few other times, but it was crowded with it's regular and local customers. It does get quite busy in the evening. Great traditional British pub , with a variety of good beers and local ones too. Had some good food here and the service was excellent. Poor girl working behind the bar, was the only one there, but she was amazing, handling a full bar with the lunch crowd and able to deliver food, drinks, smile and make sure everyone was taken care of. read more

After a long and expensive day watching the wife spend money on Oxford Street, this place is a blessing. For a pittance you can eat and drink in style. Solid pub, great place to go after work. Nice ambiance, clean, with a nice staff. Please be patience with them as they are a little understaffed. Wide variety of beers and food at a reasonable price. Traditional British pub in the Marble Arch area. We gathered for a pre-dinner drink. There was a good selection of beers and we had a nice conversation. Later the place really filled up with the post work/pre-dinner crowd. Food is available but we did not try any. read more

My husband and I went on a trip from the USA and my one request was to eat in a UK pub. He had the wild boar bangers and mash and I had the steak and ale pie. The food was the best food we had on our trip and I was so amazed at how sweet the staff was! The decor seemed so authentic and it was seat yourself unless reserved. The beer was great and I had a white peach sangria which was perfectly sweet and not too strong. If we get the chance to return to London we will be back! read more

Was looking for a pub near our hotel in W1. Came across the Three Tuns Pub early on a mid-week morning, but before opening hours. Came back late in the afternoon about commuter time (5:00pm to 6:00pm)and it was about 90% full with most tables taken and even ten people drinking outside with rain pending; all, which I took as good signs. Ordered traditional fish and chips from a fairly extensive menu. Food was good and served hot in a timely manner. Small staff of two bartenders and one bar maid, all who were working at max capacity to keep up with all the orders. Anyway, in and out within an hour. read more

I am so sorry to say but seriously terrible service. It looked great from the outside; busy, full and lively on a Friday night. I got my friend and I drinks with no problem however she didn't like her wine. I gave it a try and totally agreed. The taste was just off. The white wine had a harsh bite to it and almost came across with a vinegar flavor. It tasted old, or maybe that it was just a bad bottle. I informed the waitress and she rudely dismissed my friend and I. As paying customers we could have been talked to with some understanding and maybe an offering of help. Instead we were written off as invalid and made to feel uncomfortable and unhappy; we left soon after. Majority of patrons were men and I'm thinking if I were male I would have been treated differently. Don't go here for white wine or friendly service. Try another local pub. read more

Not sure what was going on with the other reviewer, but colleagues and I often go down the Three Tuns for lunch and a pint. Good food, normally well cooked (including the fish & chips - which come with mushy peas as served in a chip shop) and the pies are usually worth a good crack. Normally have a good pint of Greene King IPA on too, as well as a couple of other ales that make lunch go down a treat. Normally about £10 for a meal and a pint. read more

I went here last week, and that was a BAD idea, as it was the week before christmas, and it's location is still pretty close to oxford circus. And there was some kind of work x-mas party going on at the same time, but i bet that if you can make it there at a time when it isn't the PEAK of crowded-ness it's a great pub. read more

Not really sure what to make of this place. I've gotten very mixed service here. I lived around this area for a couple weeks before settling into my flat, in turn coming here a handful of times. They bartenders/waitresses were quite rude on just about every occasion, yet the couple times I was able to make it for food, the food was really good. They seem to have a pretty good selection of ales, but it is still a strange place. Not really decorated, just kind of dark and cold, which maybe is why the staff throw that sentiment back at you in attitude. If I am in the area, need a pint or quick bite and don't want to try somewhere else, I'd go back. However, this is not going to be a destination for me anytime soon. read more

A fantastically dark, grimy, old-man's pub. Drink prices are middling, with the excellent food being very reasonably priced. Staff are nearly all antipodean for some reason, mostly hilarious and all very welcoming. Not much room to move in the place when it's raining, but when it's not, you'll find a lot of happy people spilled out onto the street. Nowt wrong with that! Saw Tom Jones in here at Christmas, which absolutely wins it in my mind. read more

Another classic English pub done right. We were a little Leary at first since the posters and menu look a little "corporate" and not at all like mum had made them up years ago. Solid selection of local beers and and impressive description of Budweiser. Don't try Budweiser. Bangers and mash were very good, although could have been served hotter. One of us tried the lasagna, served with a salad and garlic bread. What was hot was hot and what was cold was cold, just as it should be. The building and decor suggests a traditional pub, but the menu screams chain restaurant. The service was consistently good on the two occasions I had dinner there. I have had the cod and chips and their burger. Both the cod and burger were good. The burger was larger and meatier than I expected, the cod large, in a nice crispy batter. Being the closest external restaurant to my hotel, I would naturally have gone here more often, except that I do not like their chips (fries). Other might like these large and consistently limp chips, but for me, they must be crisp on the outside. I did like the amber ale they serve, "Doom", I think. read more

Food was terrible! Had the Hunters chicken with seasonal vegetables and also came with onion rings. The chicken breast was about the size of a McDonalds hash brown. It was so over cooked and dry it was difficult to cut, and then drenched in a sauce that was so overpowering you couldn't have tasted the chicken anyway. Veggies were half raw so also improperly cooked and the onion rings (3 tiny ones) were soggy and bland. My dining companions fish looked okay, but he didn't comment on it, so who knows. The accompanying chips had little flavor and were soggy. Very disappointing as the menu and pub looked very nice. Maybe everyone was more focused on the World Cup games that were playing. There could be a cultural breakdown here (I'm from the US)... But this place is gross! When I stopped here for dinner and a beer on a European vacation with my brother, it could not have been worse. Despite a friendly staff, I found no other redeeming qualities within this pub. We ordered fish and chips for dinner. I did not expect the fish to be fried with the skin and bones still in it. The peas were bad beyond words. Worst of all, a man at the table next to us ran to the bathroom (mid-meal) to throw up, came back to his table, then continued to finish his food! So as I said... It's possible that the locals love his place (the staff is polite and helpful). But as a tourist checking out a local pub, I would not suggest this one ever. read more

Classic looking english put in a great location off Oxford Street. There are not too many pubs in the immediate location and so it is often a good place to stop for a quick one. The food is decent and so is the beer. It is a chain owned pub but it is good. read more
