Loved the food and great service. Host/owner was a character. We had the Cordon Bleu and it was amazing. Will go back next time in London.

The potatoes were not crisp at all and felt like they were undercooked. For the vibe of a Friday night to go and chill with friends, the place is amazing. You won't be disappointed at all. I didn't feel like alcohol and mainly came for the food, ordered tap water and got an odd look from the bartender as in "you do know this is a beer garden right". I approve of the chicken schnitzel, it is beaten well and not a dry piece. Normally schnitzel is a lottery where 50 percent of the time it will be dry like a bad Thanksgiving turkey where you need to gulp water excessively. My theory is the skill is in the beating of the chicken along with the timing of the frying. Other than that, it's obviously just breaded chicken. You can order it regular or small size. The chips on the side are really good and you get a red cabbage salad as well. Any sauces cost extra. The potato salad was also good and a generous serving for only 2.5£. I think the allergen information might be wrong, because it says that mashed potatoes has nuts in it. Maybe it's a German thing. Bill dropped off at the table before food being served, gave the feeling of 'finish your meal and leave so I can close up early', but maybe I'm overthinking. I would consider coming back on a day when it's a bit more lively. Vegan options available for those who think a seitan schnitzel sounds like good idea - not me.

Being a German, it's simply a treat to once in a while treat yourself to a Currywurst or a Krakauer...and so I appreciate the folks at Wurst Club for giving me this opportunity. What I missed was a place to sit and by means, this is nothing that the shop owners can do about, due to the space constriction, but not working around the area, I had to find a place to eat my wurst. I had ordered the homemade Kartoffelsalat (potato salad) and while the portion was plenty, the taste didn't exactly hit the right spot. (Maybe I can give away my mother's recipe, as her potato salad is delicious!) My tip: go for the Currywurst as this is the most German you can get. Simply have it with fries in a paper tray - it's by no means healthy, but it sure makes you feel good inside ;-)

I stumbled across this place on the way to Leadenhall Market and made a mental note to return and try it for lunch. I ordered the Berlin Berlin meal deal which is Curry Wurst, Chips and a drink for 6.95 which puts it in the top end of my lunch time pricing. Considering that it markets itself as German street food is a little pricey but then again the rent on a unit on Cornhill will be steep. There is not much space to eat inside so I would recommend The Wurst Club as a takeout place. I was impressed with the food, the curry sauce on the sausage tasted great and the chips were very crispy. I'll definitely try it again.

I got the bangers and mash while by wife got the cottage pie. I think I got the better meal as the sausages were really tasty and the whole grain mustard in the potatoes was a great way to elevate the potatoes. Her cottage pie was fine but didn't have a ton of flavor. Food came out surprisingly quickly, but we also had an order of chips which was crazy slow to come out of the kitchen. The chips were quite good but we'd both finished our entire meals and most of our beers by the time we got them. Beer options were solid, some good German choices. Beer was cheap too.

This place is not trying to play up on an image like many of the bars in this areas and sticks instead to the important business of being a damn fine pub. Being quite small there is a naturally cosy feel to the place and this is complimented by the decor wuth lots of wood panelling and comfy seats. The bar has a great selection of draft and bottled beers and, for the summer months, there is an excellent beer garden. I've yet to try the food but they do serve traditional pub grub between 12 and 5 Tuesday through Sunday. With a great atmosphere, warm and friendly bar staff and an excellent range of drinks, The Carpenters Arms is a brilliant place for a relaxing evening or a great stop-in after a hard days shop.

We originally headed over to the Anchor Tap pub to enjoy some pub food since we had just arrived in London earlier in the day and had built up quite the appetite. Unfortunately, they stopped serving food already, so while looking for a nearby place to grub we ran into this place. Wow. ...and not in a good way. The bald headed bartender that day could not have been much more rude and dismissive if he tried. I attempted to place an order at the bar (as this is apparently how it is done out here) and was told, "Wait at a table, I'm helping these people." He pointed at a table of 4 who were already eating. Ok. So we sat. and sat. and waited. and waited. He never made any attempt to make any kind of contact after that. We sat there for about 15 more minutes before deciding eff this. The only other employee there that we saw was a young lady who kept wiping down the same 2 tables over and over. (??) By the time we got up and walked out of the place, there were at least 2 other couples sitting at tables waiting to be acknowledged. That guy needs to find a new line of work. What a rude, miserable little man. We were there practically begging them to take our money and business and they simply weren't interested. Unless you enjoy hostile and rude service for no apparent reason, I would avoid this place like the plague. 1 star.

It's not going to be to everyone's taste but for the slightly disheveled crowd at the bar when I arrived and the mildy pretentious Hoxtonites in there it seemed like a veritable home from home. Things took a more obviously Hoxton-esque turn when the bar man upstairs appeared to be dressed like Jeannie Crankie from the Cult Scottish variety act 'The Crankies'. Tweed jacket, knee length shorts and pleasant if obviously affected air of cool was the order of the day. That said, once he came off his mobile phone to serve us he was reasonably pleasant till kicking out time, upon which there was no warning and little patience. All-round a nice oddball bar. Perhaps a bit too Hoxton-y or run down for some but I'd take this over some of the other overly trendy locations in the area (though you can probably tell that's not my thing by now! :) ). p.s. I have to say, it was a hot day and I'd rather sat outside, but I can imagine this to be a rather cozy place on a (more typical) gray London day.
