NORRISTOWN, PA: When we were chatting with locals at this brewery, they asked us how we found the place because apparently it's a locals favorite and they don't get many tourists! Well, now we are putting it out there, go visit von C Brewing Co.!! They have a beautiful and modern indoor tasting room and big outdoor beer garden that allows leashed-dogs! There are over 15 beers on-tap with a nice variety and they even have an Uncle Jerry's wheat beer (Brie's Mom's favorite style and hard to find with IPAs still dominating the market). A rotating schedule of food trucks are available and you can bring your own food. They have pet adoption and other events, fundraisers, bingo nights, and nice TV's to watch the game!

Older Philadelphians remember Schmidt's Beer as a classic brew that represented the city proudly for over a century back in the day. Times and economies change and sadly there is little left of that tradition except in old photos and dusty corners of antique shops where an old metal sign can still fetch decent prices from those who fondly remember Schmidt's trucks rumbling down the narrow streets of Old City, Society Hill, the wilds of the Main Line and other small, yet evolving suburbs. Well, that DNA is alive and well in the descendants of that family who have now brought us "vonC Brewing Company" in Norristown, PA, the county seat of Montgomery County. They have ownership of a former industrial factory/warehouse and have brilliantly given it new purpose while maintaining its workaday heritage. This is what adaptive reuse is all about. In its current incarnation it has become a modern brewery with large tasting area with hightop and picnic tables in front and full blown stainless steel fermentation operation in the rear. There are floor to 18' ceiling photo murals of the old Schmidt's plant in honor of the connection between this generation of brewmeisters and the originators in the 19th Century. It is a pleasure to hang out, sample their curated list of available choices, and shoot the breeze with friends and coworkers on a Friday evening, as I just did. (I did notice that there did not appear to be any accommodations for the disabled in the tasting room, something that should be addressed.) My 10 oz. of what was described as the closest thing to the venerable Schmidt's lager, was very good and bathed in golden amber. We brought in a large Corropolese Tomato Pie to balance the alcohol intake, and I ended up spending more time with office mates than anticipated. Fair to say, a great time was had by all.

Pros: stunning indoor space, cool outdoor seating. Cons: none of the bartenders are engaging or friendly, the beers were okay. I think they attempt too many varieties. They should stick with a few to find their groove. If they have special events I might come back, but it doesn't give the friendly brewery vibes I enjoy.

So glad to see this in Norristown! It's a cool space- huge, industrial and pays homage to their lineage- Schmidt's. No A/C but ceiling and floor fans did the trick. Cute outdoor area as well. I'm not a beer drinker but really enjoyed the kolsch. They also have wine and cider, all from PA. Hubs had a flight- $16 for 6 and not a miss in the bunch. He then enjoyed 2 rounds of their OG Pils- a throwback to Schmidt's which uses the original yeast. No food truck today, but they'll be adding more to that rotation. It had a nice crowd at mid-day on a Saturday. I wish them well and will be back.

It's the opening day at Von C. The location is unique - industrial strip facing abandoned Norristown State Hospital. Kinda cool view. Inside bar, hightops and picnic tables, outside barals and picnic tables available. Since it's their "soft opening ", they have 4 beers in tap, when we got there only 2 left. We tried both, the NE IPA was pleasant, and the ESP is more complex and well balanced. Staff was very friendly and attentive, despite the fact they were overwhelmed. We plan to come back next week when they brew more.

PLENTY OF SEATS HERE to watch the football games

10/2021: I really enjoy this place, environment, and staff. Everyone is extremely friendly. We have our own neighborhood version of "Cheers". (This reference is for those who are from the same generation as me, lol) A very welcoming, family-friendly, dog friendly environment to watch the football game. When they don't have caterers on the premises you are allowed to have food delivered. I would suggest checking with management JUST AS A COURTESY. Also, they close at 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Another good brewery in the area! I love the ambiance here and perfect for a casual evening. The beer it good and there's lots of variety. Dog friendly, you can bring your own food and seat yourself. If you're expecting to be waited on, this isn't the place

Something for everyone, I am not a big beer drinker but loved the uncle Jerry's and cutloose joose.

An easy choice for a laid back afternoon in King of Prussia. We stopped into Workhorse Brewing Company for a Saturday lunch and walked away genuinely impressed. The space itself is massive and well laid out, making it ideal for groups while still feeling comfortable and relaxed. Even better, it is kid friendly, which makes it a great option when you want a brewery vibe without excluding the whole family. The drink program really shines here. The beer lineup was solid across the board, with styles for just about everyone. What surprised us most was the cocktail menu. They were running seasonal Christmas renditions, including an Old Fashioned that was festive without being gimmicky and genuinely excellent. It is refreshing to find a brewery that takes cocktails seriously. Food came out quickly and was better than expected. Everything we tried was tasty, but their take on the traditional Philly cheesesteak stood out and is absolutely worth ordering. Though a slight miss for the buffalo chicken cheeseteak, as it was dry and under seasoned. Overall, Workhorse is a great place to spend an afternoon. Whether you are meeting friends, bringing a group or even showing up with kids in tow, it delivers on drinks, food and atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

I LOVED MY MEAL at Puddlers!…read more The fried pickles were crispy and when you bit into them the pickle stayed in the breading for future bites, which isn't always a guarantee with that dish. The Bavarian pretzels were so soft inside, but crusty and buttery on the outside. My jalapeno burger was cooked to perfection with lots of pink in the middle. Even the French fries were good, and I'm not a huge fry person. I do wish they had Bloody Marys/would bring the brunch menu back, but the Espresso martinis were not bad at all. I really want to come back here and sample more of the menu items. If they are anything like what I had on my first try here, I'll be simply delighted!

It's across the parking lot, so they have their own bar with limited drinks there and the food you order comes like take out. The outdoor seating is gorgeous though - right on the river with string lights, plants, lawn games, and fun/quirky vibes. They were blasting 90s girl anthems which was fun. It's be a perfect place to take kids. My son would have played in the rocks for hours while I chilled. The IPAs i tried were good, but the cocktail my friend ordered was questionable- super sweet and dipped from a giant premixed vat. I liked how much variety their menu had. The salmon was delicious and I liked the rest of the meal too but the squash was tough and underdone. I'm not sure if they offer flights inside but they don't outside. I was a little sad about that because they had a variety of beers that sounded good.
