I've driven by this building a million times and never would have guessed that this is a sport bar. We were seated in the patio section on the first nice-weather day of the season. All of the huge garage door windows were open, which was impressive and really lovely. It was busy, and we were happy to see they had trivia starting soon. The pretzel bites were crazy good. The southwest bowl was pretty good too. Trivia was kind of chaotic and took like 2.5 hours. We might give it another try to see if it's always that way. The restaurant is located in a residential neighborhood with private parking lot. There aren't many spaces but there is street parking. There is an entrance near the parking lot and one in "front". Either entrance you will immediately see the host. I was immediately greeted and seated. I think you should ask if the customer prefers pub or table seats. I'm 5-3 and I find pub style seats uncomfortable. I was lead to pub but I asked for a table and was easily accommodated. The restaurant bar is a large open space, you can see practically everything. The wood burning stove and a large bar. My server was efficient not memorable. The one moment that turned me off? I asked for a cocktail straw he handed to me with his bare hands. Please use a napkin for unwrapped straw etc!! There is a decent amount of food choices but I love pizza. I must say the Boss Pizza is excellent and the deviled eggs different in a good way. I got Pierogies to go to for a Pierogi snob; they LOVED THEM!! Would I go again? Yep and bring some friends when they have live music! read more

My family and I visited for the first time and always talk about how we need to return ASAP! The staff, food and drinks, and the ambiance were all excellent. Although the patio windows were not open, it still felt like you were outside with the views that were given. The patio is spacious and has beautiful gas fires on some of the tables. This is a great place for large groups! Michael was our server; he was very kind, patient, and friendly. The drinks were fun to choose from and he helped us decide on some good ones (Ten7 Double Scoop Milky Milky Shakey Shakey Peach, Top of the Hill, and Axe & Arrow Sour to the People)! For food, the Shrimp Po Boy is still a sandwich that I often think about, absolutely delicious! The Crab Cake and the Chicken Pot Pie were scrumptious as well! Loved sitting on the patio which gave a feeling of open air while still being under cover from the sun. We ordered the pretzels and beer cheese to start which were very good! Hubby tried the Boss Pizza which has pepperoni, meatballs, red peppers, and red onions which he enjoyed. I had the 23 Burger and added an egg on top. The egg on top of the savory burger and crispy onions was so good! The fries weren't my favorite in terms of of texture (stringy) but I did enjoy how they were seasoned with parmesan and herbs. I visited here with my two cousins for dinner on a Saturday around 7 pm (we had reservations). It wasn't too busy when we arrived and we were seated immediately. I loved the open air feel of the giant patio room with giant TVs everywhere. I felt like I was sitting in a huge garage with windows everywhere! We ordered two apps: Cheesesteak Egg Rolls with spicy ketchup, which were really good-perfectly cooked, crispy, with a good amount of steak and cheese (and some onion), The spicy ketchup was similar to siracha sauce and I added some nice heat to the eggrolls. We also ordered the buffalo chicken dip, which was equally as good (when we finally got it). Entrees were the 15 pc wings, which were also pretty tasty. They came with a sticky sweet Thai chili sauce that coated every wing. My French Dip was just ok. I wasn't super impressed and the Au Jus was SUPER salty. My rating would have been higher but service kinda sucked. We ordered two apps--Only one was brought out (by a different person) and we were done eating the first one and wondering where the second one was. We couldn't find our server anywhere--he didn't come over to make sure we got our food or to see how it was. My cousin had to physically go look for him to tell him. I had the opportunity to checkout Taphouse 23 today for brunch with friends! I have been there many times in the past, but I haven't been since COVID began..but glad we got the chance to give it a shot again! I enjoy the openness of Taphouse 23...it was a beautiful day out and the windows were open ...it helped with the patrons comfortability level! The waitstaff were friendly and prompt and this helped with the extra star in my updated review! The food continues to be consistently good! Today, I had the Pork Belly as an appetizer and the Mussels for my main course! Great decisions by me I must say..both were flavorful! I think this place is a solid option for the area. We sat at the bar when we went and the bartender was very friendly and happy to mix up drinks for us. There's plenty of tvs to watch the game, and a good variety of food on the menu. It's a sports bar, and that's exactly the vibe you get. Taphouse let us down. Was seated in the crammed back, with music blasting very loud. Server was atrocious. He came over and instead of an introduction just said what do you want to drink (could barely hear him), both drinks came from the tap/soda gun that completely ran out of carbonation so both beer and soda were flat. Crab dip was good but the courses were not spaced out as our entrees came about 3 minutes later, so we barely got to touch the appetizer. Shrimp po boy was decent but could have used more flavor and felt skimp on portion of shrimp. Boyfriend's burger had all the fix ins but no seasoning. A little greedy to charge $2 to upgrade chips to fries... feel like a burger should come with fries standard. One of the best places for a burger or pizza. Somehow in a town with 3 pizza places in a 3 block strip on the main drive, this place beats out 2 of them. The bar area leaves nothing to be desired. If you go in expecting a decent sports bar/restaurant with a great space to watch the game, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Taphouse 23 has a ton of great beer options, including local brews. The taproom area is spacious and airy (especially in the summer when they open the bay doors) and perfect for catching a Phillies game. The food is not going to blow you away, but it's certainly not terrible. I think last time I got a po' boy and it was perfectly edible. Their salads are also okay. Service can be very slow for food, but as long as you're not in a hurry you'll be fine. It's not the type of place to be in a hurry, anyway - it's a place to nurse your beer for an hour and forty-five minutes while you pray that the Phils claw their way back from a scorching loss. read more

Really cool place, at least from a design perspective. Our server was wearing headphones in both ears, this was a first for me at a restaurant ever. That was a good indication of the service to follow. I had to go up to the bar to request the drink I ordered stop sitting as I watched the server mess around with his coworkers. The drink arrived finally with most of the ice melted, tasted horrible. Food took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, and was pretty good, too bad we were already over this place. Really disappointed in my meal but fun environment and beer selection. The pretzel bite appetizer tasted microwaved and had a thin drizzle of cheese sauce and bacon bits tossed on top. Over salted and hard shell. The chicken pot pie looked promising but it was so liquidy like they poured it straight out of a soup can and the pastry crust on top was still doughy. Looks can be deceiving. On the other hand my boyfriend had the beef kabobs and they were delicious cooked perfectly and the veggies still had a bite to them not over cooked. Cute little find in Bridgeport/Norristown! The outdoor patio is huge and has multiple TVs and fire pits. Our server, Diana, was very attentive and sweet. The beer selection is pretty decent, with a lot of craft and local brews on the menu. I deducted a star for the food - we ordered the shrimp appetizer and a margherita pizza. The sauce and slaw that came with the shrimp was delicious. But, the pizza was way too salty for our liking. It would've tasted better if there wasn't an excessive amount of salt on it! I've been going to Taphouse for years. There was been menu changes and management changes and been flexible through them all. The last two visits have been really disappointing - once about 4 weeks ago and tonight, 5/14/2022. On our second most recent visit, the burgers were really dry, we had to send food back for being cold...smaller portions than ever and prices seem to have gone up. Tonight, we ordered nachos - the shredded chicken was cool, the cheese not cooked through, the description called for guacamole, but there was only a slight drizzle of a green avocado based sauce? The wood fired pizza was cold - definitely not cooked through. The rocky road cake my daughter ordered was cold and was barely more than a slice of previously frozen Bundt cake. I've been very loyal to this establishment. I'm disappointed by the recent menu changes and whoever is cooking back there. Prices are out of control, even considering COVID damage. I hope Taphouse can turn it around - the inside restaurant so is empty every time I'm here. It's a huge restaurant with SO MUCH to offer. read more

I have never met a more demeaning, angry man. He has no respect for customers or employees. My girlfriend ordered food 15 mins before 10 and he said no, it's Thursday and no one has ordered food for 20 mins so I closed the kitchen. My bf and I have been patiently waiting for this restaurant to renovate and re-open. (I love alliteration!) We also waited a little longer after they opened, to give them time to work out kinks. We both really enjoyed our visit. Our server was tiny, perky, and very nice and helpful. Our food was delicious. We opted to just get sandwiches on this visit in lieu of actual dinner entrees. I ordered the reuben, which was definitely one of the best I've had. The corned beef had obviously been crisped up on the flattop, giving it a great texture and flavor. It wasn't one of the huge and overstuffed versions you'd get in a deli, but it was still filling and really delicious. My better half ordered their roast pork and broccoli rabe sandwich. It was really great and super flavorful. Just be warned it's VERY spicy. And we didn't even add the fried long hots that come on the side. All sandwiches automatically come with homemade potato chips that you can be upcharged for fries if you'd like. I recommend you stick with the chips - they were so good! The decor and vibe inside was cool. Definitely didn't feel like I was in Bridgeport. The restaurant seemed well staffed, and things were executed pretty well. The only downside that I saw was the beer prices. Really high, like 2 dollars more per beer than what I would pay. We both love beer, but just couldn't stomach the prices. Even the few non-craft beers like Miller lite are like $5 dollars a pint. Miller/Coors/Bud should never be even at $4 a glass. Their happy hour seems great (see my pictures for the happy hour specials menu!), but because it ends at 6pm, I can never make it there in time. Oh well. I have a love-hate relationship with Taphouse 23. So it's averaged out to be a 3star. What I LOVE (5-Star Items) -- Craft Beer. The selection is awesome, and they're on top of all the taps. They have 2 bar areas, inside and on the Patio. Different selections. -- Happy Hour hours. Tuesdays and Wednesdays Happy Hour goes to 7pm. -- Ahi Tuna Wonton. The BEST I've had in the area. I crave them every so often. -- Hummus. Very fresh with a nice display. -- Service at the bar. Very friendly. Occasionally slow when they are busy, but understandable. What I HATE: (0-Star Item) -- Philly Cheesesteak. The WORST I've had in the area. C'mon we're still in Metro Philly area. We can't mess up Cheesesteak this bad. Not for $11. Well I hate the fact that everything else is just mediocre. This is just a nice place and could be so much better than what it is. I really do want it to be more than just an average bar! read more

We sat outside in the covered, heated outdoor area. Very Comfortable with excellent service. Bartender, Kristen, was very warm and engaging. Chef Rich introduced himself and shared ideas about the food. We had Ma's Meatballs, The Fat Slab and Calamari. The hard part is that I can't decide which was the best - as they were all fabulous! I can't believe I haven't reviewed Taphouse yet. I've been there many, many times. I go primarily for happy hour, but I've had a meal or two. Taphouse is a very large restaurant bar with fantastic outdoor seating. The 23 comes from having 23 beers on tap. Their menu is new american. I've had just about every appetizer and my favorites are cheesesteak eggrolls, calamari, and the wildfire shrimp. You can't go wrong with any of the flatbreads and if you go on Friday during hh they are half off! The burgers are big and love, love their french fries. Parking is plentiful and they do offer valet on busier days. But I've never had issue finding street parking or parking in their very large lots just a quick walk across the street. I do wish their hh hours times/specials were consistent across the week. Why not have hh 3p-7p? I would come early and stay later instead of leaving and going else where. Also if you didn't feel so burdensome ordering beer from the inside menu would be nice. They have a limited beer menu for outside, but it's such a tease to see the whole menu. This is one our favorite hot spots to go to on Friday's in summer. Look forward to another great summer of great food and yummy cocktails. read more

I rarely venture to Bridgeport for anything but I had heard good things about the Taphouse so I decided to grab lunch on a Sunday in December. The building sits right along the road and there is street parking available as well as a parking lot just up the street. As you walk up the front steps a large outdoor area is off to your right. They're still finishing up this area but it looks like its going to be awesome. They have a print just inside the front door of what the completed outdoor space will look like. I added a picture of it to their yelp page. As you enter a seating area sits off to the right with a high back booth style seat along the right side wall and several tables. The large bar area is to your left and high top tables line the perimeter while 13 or so tv's split the middle of the bar. The near side of the bar is raised about 1ft above the far side. The owners clearly spent a lot of time and money with the design and interior decor. Multiple different finishes are used on the walls and ceiling. One of the TV's in the middle of the bar had the draft list displayed complete with brewery, alcohol content, beer style and a short description. They have (23) beers on tap as is obvious by their name. The same TV frequently switches to a full page description of each of the beers on tap. In the upper corner of the draft list there is a running total of the total number of drafts poured. The tv's are installed down the middle of the bar and they are really close to where you sit and made viewing the multiple football games enjoyable. The only down side was that there were two fraud Dallas Cowboys fans sitting next to us. (Both were from PA) As my wife and I sat down at the bar our bartender came right over with the draft list, bottled beer list and menus. They have a good variety of beers but I didn't see anything rare or eye catching. As we looked over the menu I asked if the Calamari was made fresh and not pre packaged. I was told that most if not all of their food is made fresh. We did order the Calamari and it was indeed fresh and cooked perfectly. If you can't handle spicy food you will not like the tomato sauce that comes with it. I did enjoy it but it was way to spicy for my wife. For our main course we settled on: Chicken Fried Oyster Po Boy $10 Sriracha Tartar Sauce, Lettuce, Tomato, Buttered Brioche Chicken Pot Pie $15 Tender Chicken, Seasonal Vegetable, Herb Cream, Flaky Puff Pastry I had the Po Boy and while it was tasty I thought it was way to small. It seemed like only a few small Oysters were on it. I did enjoyed the Sriracha Tartar Sauce. My wife is a big fan of Pot Pie's and she said this one was one of the best she has had. I took a few bites and agree that it was very good. We split the chocolate chip bread pudding and it was GREAT. I think they did a fantastic job renovating this restaurant / bar. Some of the light fixtures were really well designed. In the men's room the main light over the mirror was made of of water pipe and beer bottles. The ceiling was lined with shiny tin panels. This place has the feel of a bar you would find in the city and not Bridgeport. I hope they can attract the Conshy Crowd because I think its ahead of its time in this area. Our total bill was about $55. This included (3) draft beers, (1) app, (2) entree's and (1) desert. read more

Really good draft beer list. Happy hour is $2 off draft craft beers from 4-6pm Monday-Friday. There's a wide variety of beer prices, ranging from $4-15. With happy hour, those $4 beers become $2! Most of the list is in the $4-8 range full price, which means $2-6 during happy hour! Flatbreads are half off during happy hour (so $5). They're decent. I would never pay full price for these, but $5 is ok for a restaurant, just because there's really not that many toppings on it. Really the best thing on the menu are the burgers & sandwiches. The 23 Burger is pretty standard and good, but they also have a ton of options: lamb burgers, bison, crab, turkey, hawaiian, cowboy, and sandwiches like reubens, ribeye, etc. There's an entire parking lot that is on the block next to the taphouse. Tapehouse 23 craft taps are what brought me here for the first time last year. It's what draws me back as well. I can always find something new to try or something I know is good. Inside decor is inviting with a marble bar and dark wood. There is also a sizeable outdoor bar and seating when the weather is nice. I would like to recommend the tuna wontons but they seem to have lost the bright pink color that you want to see in fretsh raw tuna. Cheese steak is also lacking. Mine was dry overcooked. Subpar for this area. Humus is good. The place can get pretty packed at peak times. Great hangout. Definitely go for the beer. read more

I've been to Taphouse 23 a few times now - once for HH and twice for dinner. I love what the owner did with the place as it looks 10x better than it did previously. I think once the outside deck opens, it will be an awesome spot for HH. My only real qualm is the prices for beer when it isn't HH. The prices are more in line with what would be charged in Philadelphia, not in Bridgeport. The food is reasonably priced and pretty good. Portion size for a lot of appetizers is a bit small, but the flatbreads and sandwiches are very large. I definitely recommend the Mac N'Cheese, French Fries and Roast Beef Sandwich. Just a warning, it is very loud in there (even on the top floor), so if you are expecting to be able to have a decent conversation this isn't the place for you.
