Honest-NO, Affordable-NO, Repaired-NO Affordable, Honest Volvo Repair is on their repair order and We Promise Quality Repair for Your Volvo Car is on their Facebook page but I experienced exactly the opposite. Both Chris and Joe lied to me about the services on my car. I spent almost $5,000 repairing exactly what they assured me would fix the problems on my C70 and the problems aren't fixed. Now they want to charge me more money to fix what I already paid to get fixed. I won't go into more detail now as I've filed a dispute with my credit card company and plan to also pursue legal remedies so I'll update this review once things are resolved. I will say I called them again yesterday and let them know I wouldn't let them work on my car again because of the lies and that I can't trust anything they say or do at this point. Chris said he would call back before the day was over with a resolution and I never got a call back then or now. I'm a car enthusiast, was trained as a mechanic through General Motors national training in the 70's, have owned dozens of vehicles, worked at multiple highline car dealerships including four BMW dealerships and was the sales manager at BMW of Denver so I know the automobile business and auto mechanics and am typically sympathetic to any auto business but their behavior is over the top and I would recommend anyone considering their services going elsewhere. read more

Passenger rear view mirror wobbling. No appointment and drove in before mirror fell off. Voltek removed the mirror and repaired with glue. Replacement would have been $175. Shop refused payment and wished me a good day and it was. read more

MOST DISHONEST SHOP EVER!!!!!!! They said they did costly work they never did. They stole parts from my car to put on another customer's car (confirmed). They stole my power steering pump and seat belt trim. They took out quality spark plugs I'd just put in and burned beautifully. Shameless thieves should be in jail. Even 100 times worse if you're a woman. I pulled up the carpet to see the new fuel pump and there was so much dirt, it was obvious they never even went near the fuel pump let alone put in a new one. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! I came in for regular scheduled maintenance and after I was was told my car was done I came to pick it up from oil change the mechanic mentioned the struts had previously been repaired and a part was missing and I would need to have to get "back in the schedule "to get them repaired for around 6-7hundred dollars. I was assured my car would be fine and I was driving it the next day and the struts broke and was poking up in the hood. This is exactly what I was trying to prevent when going in and I can't believe I couldn't get it fixed when I originally brought it in. I'm a 3 time Volvo owner and spent almost 15 years taking my car to the dealership for maintenance and repairs. Until one day when my perfectly maintained xc60 just stalled and stopped while driving. My extreme frustration and disappointment led me to Voltek who fixed a persistent issue with a $135 repair. This is after thousands of $ spent fixing other things. I waited 6 months after they fixed it to write this to ensure the problem was truly fixed. My car runs like new and Chris and Joe even gave gas tips. I have a local Volvo shop here in Portland OR, that we use. Our daughter recently moved to Denver and her 2010 XC60 died overheating. It was unfortunately towed to Sill-Terher(aka Still Terrible at our house now). Don't read my review of them, just take your Volvo to the team at Voltek. I wish I was able to find them when our daughter had called AAA in the first place and have it towed there, it would have saved $150 getting the car towed from Still Terrible to Voltek. A great Volvo shop is worth their weight in gold. An exceptional Volvo shop is even rarer, and I believe Voltek may be Exceptional. I arranged to tow my daughers car from SillTerher to Voltek, and was expecting to have to call and confirm that the tow occured, then verify that Voltek had it and would schedule it. Before I had time to do any of that... Joe called with cost information, I thought it was a repair estimate. Nope, Joe was FINISHED with the job. (I had called earlier to arrange/clear repair with Joe). Words fail me at describing how indebted to Joe and the Voltek team for fixing my daughters car so fast, and at a price significantly less than the estimate Sill Terhar (aka Still Terrible)... I was willing to pay 4x more, to get it done at all, not expecting to pay 1/4 the price to get the repair done in 4 hours when Sill Terhar was unable to do the same repair in 3+weeks at 4x the cost. Keep this in mind next time you need Volvo service. All I can say is that Voltek has earned our business for all future oil changes and any odds and ends that might happen with a 10 year old Volvo. I grew up in my parents 1962 Volvo P544, and guess what, we had breakdowns on the way to grandmas house just about every year. Dad got pretty good at fixing the Volvo. If you own a Volvo in Colorado you need to bring it to Voltek. I have a 2005 V70R which is very finicky and when it breaks it REALLY breaks. Last week it simply wouldn't start due to an ignition issue. When I explained my problem to Joe, he not only was incredibly cordial and understanding, but even took nearly 10 minutes to explain how to get my car in gear so that a tow truck could come get it. This was even before I was a customer. The 4 shops I called in Colorado Springs before contacting Voltek gave me the bring it in and we'll diagnose it spiel, nothing more. Joe and Chris were awesome when I would call like a worried parent about my car and never seemed annoyed by my questions like many dealer experiences I've had in the past. I sent my car up there and had it diagnosed the next day for a new ignition. Part came in a few days and was immediately fixed. When I picked up my car Joe went over in incredible detail about what went wrong and what I may need to worry about in the future with this 16 year old Swedish problem sport wagon. The prices for parts and labor are incredibly good and fair too. Never did he upsell or try to convince me I needed a service just to make a buck like a certain Volvo dealer near me. It is simply the most thorough and personal experience I've had with getting a car fixed. If my car ever needs anything i will not hesitate to go the distance to Voltek in Denver from Colorado Springs. These guys KNOW Volvos and it shows. Thank you Voltek. My first visit to Voltek. Had a coolant bottle leak in my '07 XC90 w/ 175k miles in December 2021 and also decided to get a synthetic oil change while it was there. 8 quarts + BG fuel additive + MOA oil additive = a happy Volvo at a very reasonable price. Bottle was changed out with a new one and only charged .2 hours labor on it + the part which was probably 1/3 the price from a dealer. Would definitely recommend Joe and Chris and Voltek anytime. Rear brakes are next up for the car. read more

From a well travelled Volvo and Yelp-loving Denver native, Five Stars to Voltek. As good as it gets. Seriously. No bad anything here. Buying a used car is a very tricky task and Caveat Emptor is sometimes putting it lightly. It is also similar to some kind of a unusual game--a race to find a good one that won't cause you huge problems being the (formerly) seemingly unattainable goal. The number one thing is to find out as much as possible about how/where the car was maintained/serviced. In some cases if at all-yikes, it happens-the best clue to how it will perform in the future, or not. Finding a beautiful used Volvo with a nice folder of maintenance receipts from Voltek would be the ultimate. However more often in the search there are no records available at all and you are in the dark. You no doubt know at this point a pre-buy inspection is not an option it is a must. I am happy to say I have finally found mechanics that don't seem to want to lie, cheat and steal from their customers. Amazing. The team here will diagnose and discuss their findings so you are better informed about what you may be buying, or why you are running away from it. No car (new or used) will be perfect but it is guys like this who help take the complete mystery around used car buying down to a manageable "yes, I can do this!". Many thanks to the Voltek Team for being honest and doing great work for reasonable prices. As long as they are in business with the same ethical business model, I will keep driving a gently used Volvo. Voltek is excellent. I bought a 2001 Volvo XC last fall from a friend. Great car, 120k miles and fairly well maintained. It did have some issues, though, and I came up with a list of things I wanted to take care of. Suspension, tune up, overall health check, etc. Basically I want to get 300k miles from this car! Chris at Voltek went through my list with me, then drove and went over the car and we prioritized everything, Chris catching some things I had missed and suggesting that some things could wait or need not be done at all. Yes, you heard right. He told me some of the things I was concerned about, big expensive things, could wait or even never need be addressed. He left money on the table. How huge is that? I'd had some other people look at the car. My Dad taught me to always get multiple quotes for anything expensive (and what's more expensive than Volvo work? Neurosurgery? Platinum?) A Boulder shop specializing in Volvos wanted to replace the brake booster to the tune of $600 based on a noise. Chris realized that the booster was fine and an interior blower motor just needed a little silicone grease to eliminate the noise. Boom, $600 dollars saved.. Boulder shop wanted 980 to replace radiator with very slow leak, Chris told me I could wait on that indefinitely, Boom! $980 saved! Same with left CV joint, will need to replace at some point in future but ok for right now. Boom! $700 saved (for now...) I could go on and on about these guys (I dealt with Joe at the counter--very helpful and professional and the guy who arranged the loaner car, and Chris, the mechanic) and their expertise. But in short, if you drive a Volvo, you should consider Voltek for repairs and service. Sorry if I seem overly psyched--it's because driving home felt like I just got a brand new car. And now I know that I have a mechanic i can trust.. How huge is that? read more

The short story: Voltek saved me almost $1000 on my last repair, admitted and fixed a mistake made during the repair, and they're always friendly. I'll never go anywhere else. The slightly longer story: I had been taking my 2006 V50 wagon to voltek for regular maintenance for about a year. I was always happy with the service, and I appreciated the friendly atmosphere that Joe and Chris have at the shop. When my alternator went out, it took the main computer with it, and it was going to be a very expensive repair. Chris went above and beyond to get a rebuilt replacement for the computer, saving me nearly one thousand dollars. They fixed my car quickly and for a price that was more than reasonable. A day later, I was getting error messages when I drove. I thought that the rebuilt computer was a bust, and that I'd end up paying double to have it replaced. Instead, Chris took the car and called me back, telling me that *he had made a mistake*, that he had tried a certain method of installation, and that he had to make a change that took about 10 minutes. Again I got my car back quick fast in a hurry and was on the road. Here's what impressed me: Have you ever had a mechanic admit a mistake? Me neither. But everyone makes mistakes. Even mechanics. We all know that to be true, but still and yet, I believe that it's a sign of a true professional when they're secure enough in their knowledge of their craft to be honest about it in all instances. I think Chris took a big risk telling me he made a mistake. I might never have come back. But instead of thinking "Wow, I don't want anyone who makes mistakes to work on my car," I immediately thought, "That's some pretty bold honesty. I now trust this guy more than any mechanic I've ever met." Joe's great, too. Family guy. Nice to talk to. I once told him my mom was having some surgery, and a few months later when I was there for an oil change, he asked how she was doing. That doesn't matter to some people, but to me, that's pretty huge. As long as I own a Volvo, I'll be taking it to Voltek when I need work done. They're as good as it gets. read more

The guys at Voltek are simply amazing. I have been taking two different Volvos there for 7 years now, and possibly a third. They are quick, honest, and affordable--which is hard to find in the Volvo world. I had an "incident" in my current Volvo, let's just say it involved a summer monsoon down poor, a flooded intersection, and a stalled engine. We pushed the car across the street from the flooded intersection to a mechanic, and asked about it (knowing we would still tow it to Voltek), he flat out said "That's the third Volvo pulled from that water, and the first two are totaled." After a weeks' worth of work, and multiple phone calls to me with updates, Voltek had my car running like new, and it was nowhere near totaled. Even now, three years later, they understand my extenuating circumstance, and to save us some money we pushed back my 150k mile tune up; most of the work was done when they fixed the engine after the puddle "incident" anyway. They also always re-assure me that my car is in great shape, and it's just getting broken in. It's a good feeling when your mechanic loves your car as much as you do. Plus, you can't beat driving down the highway in one of their loaners, with a giant "Voltek" sticker across the side of the car. read more

I feel really lucky to have found a great mechanic who is honest. I was also pleasantly surprised that they offered a free loaner car for the day -- Rickenbaugh has never offered me a FREE loaner, btw. I needed a bit more work done above the scheduled maintenance -- Chris called me less than an hour after I left my car to go through the additional repairs -- he told me what could wait and what I should consider fixing that day. It's just a new thing for me to leave an auto repair/servicing and feel relief. I'm very much a happy customer. read more

Voltek is amazing! I just moved to Denver, knowing that my car needed some basic maintenance I found Voltek, and I'm sure glad I did! I took my 850R in, thinking I needed a new timing belt. And that maybe something else was majorly wrong with my car, being that it was difficult to gain RPM's. Chris took a look at my car and told me it needed a new water pump and spark plugs. He drove the car to see for himself, and then gave me a list of what he felt needed to be done and what could wait. I got everything done for a cheap price and it didn't even take a day. Chris is honest and knows what he is talking about. Great service and quality. Also, you get to roll around in a classic Volvo if you need transportation while your car is being fixed. The team at Voltek did a great job with our new-to-us Volvo 240 GL. Its got 300K miles and runs like a champ! The work was right on time, less than budget. This car is a commuter for about 30 miles a day. We let them know exactly what we planned to do with the car and they let us know exactly what to do now and what to do later. BTW, the exhaust replacement CAT and back was less than half of what was quoted by a very reputable muffler shop in Boulder. While there, I watched as Joe and Chris took care of another client who brings their car from Steamboat Springs! The client said her car only gets worked on by the guys at Voltek! read more

I love that my wife feels safe and loves to drive her 2005 S-40. But whenever it needs service, I hate it. After repeated trips to the local dealer for service (in Denver it is the dealer that starts with an "R" and the one in Broomfield that starts with "Sil") and the feeling that dropping off the car was going to be $500 unless something was actually wrong, in which case we are starting at $1000, I was talking to my wife about getting a more reliable Japanese car. But she loves her Volvo, and a happy wife is a happy life, right? Luckily she found Voltek and our Volvo service challenges are behind us. Joe, Chris and Carl are pro's (we found out later that they have years of experience at the "R" service center before buying Voltek.) Their prices for service seem to be about 30-50% less than the dealer, and unlike the dealer service that seems to me to love putting parts on the car in a shotgun approach, Voltek seems to diagnose problems and only fix what is actually broken. I can't say enough about these guys. I can afford to keep my wife happy in her Volvo. read more

When I moved to Denver and got into an accident, I took my 98 S70 T5 to Voltek on the recommendation of a friend who'd been taking her Volvo here for years. I've now been taking my Volvo to first Tom and Carl and now Joe, Chris, and Carl at Voltek since. When I lost my beloved S70 to an accident, I bought its replacement--another Volvo--from the previous owner, Tom, at a fair price. Tom always quoted me a fair price and never more than I needed, was always available to troubleshoot over the phone, and Joe and Chris continued that great service as the new owners. They even introduced alignment service at Voltek, so I don't have to take my car anywhere else! I've been buying my tires direct through Voltek for a few years, as well--whatever tires I've wanted (I've done my own research on Tire Rack)--they've ordered in, so I didn't have to deal with it. Tom was in business for many years and had great product knowledge, and while I was skeptical at first and didn't believe it possible, I'm convinced that Joe and Chris have even more knowledge when they caught something that even Tom missed! These guys have continued Tom's commitment to honest service and great work to ensure that I'll be going back for years to come whenever something breaks, or even just for my routine service. They let me know when things are important or critical, or if they can wait a while so that I can have things done on my own time, but if they tell you it needs to be fixed right away, take them at their word! Get it done! They're being honest and you could be putting yourself at risk--I've seen cars come in with broken tie rods and axles because they didn't believe it was urgent. Living in the Volvo world one has to realize that for maintenance and repairs beyond oil changes, you will need to accept that for the job to be done right the first time you need to go to a qualified shop that specializes in Volvos. Came in with a check engine light that wouldn't go away. The team was able to diagnose the issue and call me back within the hour. Once the part came in it was finished within 45 minutes. The out the door price was very competitive with non Volvo repair shops. A little out of the way and there is no fancy coffee bar available ( that is what you go to dealerships are for -but you pay $$$), but there is a donut shop around the corner you can wait at . Most important the guys were very patient with all the questions I was asking. read more
