It's incredibly reassuring to know that I can rely on Chris and Joe to be consistently knowledgeable, accommodating, honest and friendly. They are incredibly fair and even generous. This morning I took my C30 in because the Check Engine Light was on. While I waited, Chris dropped what he was doing and diagnosed the problem. Thankfully, it turned out to be only something to do with my gas cap. He lubricated the cap, reset the warning light, and didn't charge me a dime. This is not the first time they have helped me out in this way. And when something serious has needed to be done, I have always been pleasantly surprised by how quickly they get the work done and how reasonable the bill is. I TOTALLY trust them to take excellent, expert care of my car. My son recently needed a new car and had only $5,000 to spend. Knowing that any used car in that price range would inevitably need service, we chose a 2004 Volvo S40 specifically because we had Voltek to work on it. Straight up, the only place in Denver that I'll take my Volvo. These guys actually KNOW Volvos - even more than dealership technicians (and I've taken my car to a few). I can't tell you what a relief it is to know that they'll correctly diagnose my car and not charge me the soul of my first born child to fix it. Have owned all luxury cars over 35 years in Denver...if you" love your Volvo" like me and many others, you can't beat Joe, Chris, and Carl...I got all 4 brakes replaced today on my 2006 XC90...called from downtown after lunch, they said drive right over and in less than 90 minutes I was out the door...reasonable price, quality work and great tire advice also. I was super impressed with my entire experience...6 stars is more like it. While waiting talked with several other customers....all agreed...they won't go anywhere else and that says it all!!! I meant to write this review a long time ago. When my 2007 volvo s40 suddenly stopped functioning after a botched oil job, these guys took a look and gave me their opinion on what happened. After that, they kept my car there no charge for over a month while I figured out logistics of next steps and trying to work with the place that had done the oil job. They were super nice and understanding. In the end, I wasn't even able to get the service done there, but they never once complained or charged me for keeping the car there! These guys are awesome. The shop's a little bit out of the way for me, but totally worth it. They explained the prices to me and were able to quickly diagnose a new issue the day I brought the car in. They even saved my state park pass when replacing my windshield. Awesome. Just moved here from California and when I bring my S40 to mechanic I want it to be someone who is reasonable, upfront, and fast. These guys did all three. I had a vibration coming from my engine when shifting into drive so I scheduled an appointment. I ended up coming in earlier than I had arranged and instead of saying "hey we'll call you when we find out what it is" joe hopped in the front seat and took a drive with me and told me what his guess was on the problem and the cost to fix it. Next day at 10, Chris called and told me had fixed it along with a couple other minor things, 30 minutes later I was leaving Voltek with my car. Literally the best experience I have ever had at the mechanics. They knew exactly what needed to be done to fix my car I went in for an oxidation wire and I left with that fixed and my a/c fixed without even being charged for the a/c which can be up to 900$ to fix. It was one of the nicest things that has ever happened to me! I paid 68$ for a/c and a wire to be fixed that was going to cost me 500$ somewhere else for just fixing the wire! HIGHLY satisfied and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who has issues with their Volvo!! read more

We have been using Voltek for several years. Our neighbor originally recommended them to us when we purchased our Volvo. The service has always been excellent factory Volvo quality work, but without the high priced dealership costs. The owners, Joe & Chris are very friendly, and do not recomend unneded work. Carl, who is the lead technician, has been working at Voltek for 20+ years. He is a very sharp Volvo mechanic! Most recently, we had to replace both front struts along with the necessary components. Joe actually did a bunch of leg work to keep the cost to an aceptable level. Through his resources, he was able to purchase factory struts at a much discounted rate, which he then passed those savings on to us. These guys are amazing. Had an issue with my wife's XC90 where it looked like coolant was leaking. I brought it here because of the amount of 5 start reviews they had on Yelp. I was not disappointed. I brought the car in and they offered to take a look at it between their already booked schedule that day. Turns out that the coolant was just low and what had created the puddle under the car was just condensation from the A/C unit. As an Audi/VW/Volvo driver, I was prepared to fork over a couple hundred dollars for their trouble. Their response to me shoving money at them was, "No, don't worry about it, there was nothing actually wrong with the car". I said, "Yeah, but you don't work for free, I should pay you something". Their response was, "Just bring your car here next time there is something REALLY wrong with it". Seriously, who does that these days. Anyway, you can trust the reviews on Yelp, and you can trust these guys with your Volvo. (Sadly, they don't work on Audis) :( read more

I'm always hesitant to take my car to anyone but the dealership but after going to Voltek my car will never see a dealership in Denver. I am writing this review to give a shout-out to Chris, Joe, and Justin and Voltek. We have be bringing Volvos to this business for years, dating back to long before they owned the business. We were concerned when the original owner retired, but he assured us we would be in good hands. I think the business has only improved over the years. All three are excellent technicians. They are thorough and when they do find an unanticipated problem they are honest and straightforward with the best ways to handle it. I have never been pressured into an unnecessary repair nor have I ever been upsold something that I did not need. The work is always high quality and I don't recall ever having to return because something needed to be corrected. They are a little out of the way for me but well worth the drive. read more

I just picked my car up today from Voltek Volvo. Chris and Joe worked so hard to make sure I was getting the best price possible for a new alternator. I've been bringing my 11 year old XC90 to Voltek for about 9 months now and I love this place. Repairs are reasonable and they explain it all thoroughly. When a long list of repairs were needed, they helped to prioritize so we could spread it out over a couple of months. I won't go back to the dealer now that we have a solid repair shop that does it all. Oil changes are reasonably priced and fast. Well worth the slightly longer drive. read more

2002 XC70 (STC) - My car needed a power brake booster replaced. I wasn't happy with the Volvo mechanic I had been going to for 5 years so I started calling mechanics in the greater Denver area who could service a Volvo. All of the dealerships wanted around $1200 (parts and labor) and the best I could find from other independent shops was around $900+ (parts and labor). I found Voltek and they replaced the power brake booster and labor for under $700!! Voltek is now my mechanic and I highly recommend them for any Volvo owner. Chris, Carl and Joe are all very friendly and know their stuff. I took my 2002 Volvo to a dealer for a check-up, and they gave me a list of 7 things wrong with a quote of $3500 to fix. I took it to Tom for a second opinion and he quoted me a much cheaper price, and even found that the dealer had tried to scam me on a few of the things - not all of the 7 things were actually needed. Voltek is under new ownership. Chis Hernon is the new principal. I have had both my Volvo and my Toyota serviced at the new shop and by Chris personally. The work and repairs performed were done very well and in a very timely fashion and at very reasonable prices. There were several additional issues that I was concerned about with the cars at time that I brought them in. Chris checked them advised me that these issues actually were okay and that no further action was necessary. No charge for that part of the consultation! I would definitely recommend Voltek both for the very good service and for the reasonable prices charged. read more

Do NOT let them talk you into a used transmission!! They only guarantee it for 30 days! They put one in my XC 90 for $2800. It only bought me 11 months before that one started going out too. My family has owned many, many Volvos through out the years and has been taking them to Voltek, until recently. Being faithful to Tom and Carl for almost 25 years my father has moved on. With the new owner he felt he didn't get the service we once got. As a woman who has always called Voltek her "Volvo daddy" is now also moving on. Tom and Carl knew that I would come in to have my car looked over for any preventative work that needed to be done and take it on with my father. If it was anything he and I couldn't handle, an appointment would be made for the work to be completed at Voltek. If I ever had a question or needed guidance on something I was fixing on my own, I could call Tom or Carl and they wouldn't flinch on walking me through it via the phone. I made a call to Voltek this week looking for the same kind of guidance and was told I needed to bring it in. I asked for Carl and was told I couldn't speak to him and I should just bring my car in. I don't doubt that Joe is knowledgable, but pleasant and helpful is not the case. So long 20 years of Voltek servicing my Volvo needs. I took my S60R here for the brakes to be replaced and because the check engine light kept going on and off. They replaced the brakes, and even though the brakes ended up being a faulty part (squeaking loudly), they stood behind the warranty and replaced them with an additional pair for free a month later. They then spent an incredible amount of time researching why the check engine light continued to come on, and after conducting numerous tests, still could not find anything wrong. Instead of trying to put a part on that my car did not need, they were very honest and straight forward with me, told me they would absolutely not charge me when they cannot find a problem (even though I felt they should be compensated for the time they spent conducting the tests). They even replaced a brake light for me for free while they had my car at their shop. By far the best shop I have ever been to for repairs on my vehicle! Honest, trustworthy, repairs are done quickly and you are given a loaner vehicle for the day. Cannot say enough good things about Voltek! Definitely take your Volvo here for repairs!! read more
