This place was very nice. The people are polite. I was attended quickly, and the server knew the menu (always a plus). I had the Fire Vokcano Roll and it was delicious. This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Odessa i mean it's west Texas very hard to find a decent sushi place...i have never had issues until today...me and my bf drove from Alpine got there at 8:59pm restaurant closes at 9:30pm as soon as we walk in the host informed us the kitchen closed at 9pm i mean don't you close at 9:30pm kitchen should too...in that case close at 9pm i was very disappointed im giving it 3 stars just because the sushi is yum read more

My wife had been asking me to take her to Volcano for quite some time and I decided to make her day and take her out for a date to this restaurant. As we get there the restaurant is very clean and the hostess is super friendly. It was somewhat busy but nothing out of the ordinary. My wife ordered a ceviche appetizer and it was just ok. Flavor was somewhat bland and if I had to give it a score it would be a 3 out of 10. I ordered the pepper steak tips with bell peppers and onion. I was extremely disappointed with my food. It came out cold with absolutely no flavor as if it was cooked with no seasoning. The rice that came with it was ok nothing like what I'm used to at any Chinese restaurant. I asked to speak to the manager at this point and all the manger said was "I'm sorry for the your experience". Fine, I paid my tab which was also super expensive for 2 people ($100) and went along with our day. Overall my experience here was extremely distasteful. I will never come back to this restaurant and will advise others to do the same. If I could I'd give 0 stars. read more

We also ordered a jalapeño chicken and requested the fried rice which is an up charge. We got charged the extra dollar but given white rice. We placed the order at 9:10, 50 minutes before closing. We've eaten here three times. I haven't had a bad food experience yet. Their tea is not good, but that's a crap shoot in Odessa any day. The best sushi I've had in West Texas. I've tried over 8 different types of the rolls and have definitely found some favorites. I always look forward to eating here. My favorite go-to rolls are the Godzilla roll and the house roll. My husbands go-to is the volcano mountain roll. read more

This place is par for the course when it comes to Asian food in the area. They are probably one of the best in town but still lacking, their sushi is decent, but there hot food is never hot, it either sits out for a long time before they bring it or they are not heating it up enough. The service is good most of the time but they will sit and talk for a long time instead of waiting on tables, it is also hard to communicate with them, very little English and essentially no Spanish. Suggestion, make your food steaming hot and you will gain two stars, get your service upgraded and you will have 5 stars. read more

This is our go to spot whenever we think of date night. We go so often that we consider the staff our friends! Whenever we walk in, we are greeted by Wendy, and she already has our drinks and appetizers ready for us. The best sushi out here in West, TX. The atmosphere is also unlike other restaurants here. This is truly an asian fusion chain, they offer sushi, hibachi, udon, ramen, and other signature asian hot dishes, all of which are great! In terms of food, delish. Speaking with staff you can tell they take pride in the quality of their ingredients. Fish is fresh, and Sushi Chef's are flexible to make rolls that are not always on the menu for us. Presentation is always fun and absolutely beautiful. Our favorite rolls are the Red Dragon and Texas Roll. Their hot dishes are also very good. We like to get the Walnut Shrimp, it is a nice lighter take with excellent flavor. We haven't had one thing that we didn't like. read more

I have had pleasant experiences at Wokcano (Volcano-update new name change). The food is creative, delicious and the chefs focus on presentation which is refreshing to have in Odessa. The sushi is very good and hard to come by in Odessa. The customer service for me has always been great. The ladies that work there have always been attentive and when I walk in most of them remember me by name (which is sad because obviously I dine in too much). The staff have also giving me tips of things to order not on the menu and the chefs have graciously made it for me and it has come out really tasty. I have ordered to-go as well. There is plenty of parking available. The food is not cheap but not overly expensive. They have great lunch time deals if your on a budget. If you like sushi you will love this restaurant. read more

Definitely! Some fresh sushi in town! I've moved to Midland 7 months ago from Seattle, and I've been dying for some good sushi. We made reservation for a party for 12, the wait was about 20 minutes which wasn't bad at all. The restaurant was crowded and a little crammed, but it's a cute little spot. Greeted by a friendly waiter and our waitress was attentive, but seemed stressed out. We ordered the wings and lettuce wrap to start off with, and the wings were way to saucy with a strong vinegar taste. Lettuce wrap were good, but a very small serving. We ordered two Sushi and sashimi love boat ($47 each) it's worth it if you like sashimi, comes with a good amount and served on a wooden boat! We ordered a few specialty rolls: Godzilla roll was one of the best. I can't remember the others. We also ordered Phad Thai and udon soup, but we weren't too crazy about it. We've been searching for a good, even decent sushi place in Midland/Odessa since we moved here. We have been extremely disappointed with the sushi and it was a gift from the heavens when Wokcano opened. They have very very great sushi and the sushi chefs really know what they are doing. The other places I have been to around midland, the chefs don't know what goes in every roll and is constantly checking a recipe, and they have used too much rice and too much mayo sauce and the rolls fall apart when touched. These sushi chefs know what they are doing and they use the correct amount of material for each roll. The sashimi is very good as well, which is very important in my opinion when picking a sushi place. The customer service is great and the Green tea ice cream was a dream :) If you are in Odessa/midland and you want REAL sushi, come here. read more
