I am a big fan of Hibachi Express. They are not cheap but their food is always fresh and just like I ordered it. I like to try different sushi options here as well, but my go to is the Hibachi combo with fried rice add egg and extra zuchini. It never fails that I end up spending 30 dollars or more just for myself as I also always get the gozya dumplings (they will pan fry them if you ask) and the crab rangoon as well. Yes, I have left overs, but when my appetite calls for Hibachi, I cannot just get one thing from here. I would give it a 5 star but I only give 5 stars to the greatest of fine dining restaurants. This was my 1st time here in Big Spring,Texas and I and I have to admit that it is very quaint but the choices of food places are very slim. 1st of all I can't say the food was horrible but it was not something I'm very used to eating for Japanese food. One of the items I ordered was tempura. Usually when you order this item it also comes with a dipping sauce that is similar to a warm broth sauce to dip your tempura in. They gave me sweet-and-sour sauce as if it was egg rolls! That this was a mistake I asked them if they have the sauce to dip in and they said no that it came with the sweet-and-sour sauce. Since I also ordered the steamgoza, I used that sauce to dip my tempura in. Was very confused with this place because the name hibachi express I thought it was a Japanese place but it is some type of fusion of Maybe Japanese/Chinese? I really had nowhere else to go for Japanese food so this was the closest thing I guess in the small town. The food was not bad it's just that it threw me off in the menu. read more

There is nothing express about this place. Very slow and unprofessional service. We were the only ones in the restaurant, not already eating when we ordered, and waited over 35 minutes for steak and rice. I asked how much longer our wait would be and she replied, "since you got your steak medium rare, it takes longer to cook". Don't waste your time or money here. read more

I ordered the shrimp yakisoba with another person as we waited on one more to show up. Those two got their orders say within 10 minutes, I asked about mine and they said the noodles and shrimp takes longer. After 35 minutes I finally got my order. They can be on the slow side, if ordering anything other than sushi, recommend calling it in. Sigh. I wanted to like this place. It had more stars than most of the restaurants here in Big Spring (we're just passing through), but alas, no such luck. After driving for over 8 hours we stopped for the night. We wanted something other than a burger or pizza for dinner. Since it was 8:45 and Hunan didn't close until 10pm I headed out. Unfamiliar access in the dark is unnerving. I drove past the place, circled back and found the weird, speed bump road leading to the entrance. The building has a string of lights on a far corner, however that isn't the entrance. The entrance is not indicated or we'll lit, but does, at least, have an "OPEN" sign with traveling LEDs. Upon entering I was immediately greeted. I asked the kind woman at the register if they did take out. She said they did. I asked how it worked, she handed me a partitioned styrofoam box and said the cost was $11 and change per box, and that the lid needed to close (do people really do that? Load a take out container so full that it can't be closed?). She asked me if I wanted 1 box or 2. I told her I'd take one and let her know if I needed another. As I approached the buffet area, an employee was standing between the fruit station and the dessert station, busy scooping water from the dessert buffet into a bucket. I opted to skip that area. At the next buffet table, roughly every other pan was empty. A label of the contents was there, except there was no food. The pans that did have food in them has no more than 2 a spoonful portion. The broccoli beef, which was what I came for for my husband, had 4 pieces of broccoli and just bits of meat. That did it for me. I thanked the woman up front and told her about the empty bins and low portions. She offered to have anything I wanted made, but I was exhausted and didn't feel like falling asleep in the dining room, waiting. All I can say is I'm disappointed. This was an experience I would expect if I had come in 10 minutes before close. P.S. The Whataburger chicken fajita is pretty tasty. read more

The noodle dishes at Hibachi Express are decent enough and they're fine for a quick stop if you're craving this type of food. I get cravings for Asian food soo often and these dishes do enough to at least somewhat satisfy my craving, but I wouldn't seek it out otherwise. If you're looking for sushi, don't eat here. Finally. A new Asian restarant in town. Grand opening was this week. Nice decor, but very uninspired customer service. No greeting at the counter, rdered quickly without a wait for our lunch. Most entrees & Sushi Rolls were $6.00-$8.00 each. We split the Dragon Roll, Hibachi Chicken, and the Chicken Udon. Unfortunately, most of the food was only a mild improvement of what is in town now. The Chicken Udon was by far the best of what we ordered; it had a slightly sweet soy-garlic (and ginger?) sauce with a generous helping of thick noodles. The Dragon Roll was fried & a little greasy; couldn't really taste any of the tuna within it. The Hibachi Chicken consisted of a very unseasoned (but well cooked) grilled chicken breast, unflavored plain fried rice, and surprisingly good stir fry veggies. Oh yeah, they weren't busy and it still took probably 20+ mins to get our food. Give it 3.5 stars... Drop it to 3 stars for poor customer service, just ok food (except for the udon...), and a long wait to get the food. Given the other places in town are just awful IMHO, I'll prob give this place another chance.... read more

So... Where to start. I'm not too disappointed with my visit today, but nothing exactly impressed me either. Staff were kind and courteous. Food came out quick. And the store is clean! Ordered two different hibachi plates, gyoza, and the nigiri plate. The hibachi was okay but I make better at home and the same with the gyoza. The nigiri was on par with, (maybe a little better than), HEB provides and I will not me getting it again. I'd choose this over a chain burger joint, and Big Spring doesn't have many choices for food so will probably be back but wouldn't suggest it if you want fine dining. read more

I've eaten here several times but this was a first. We ordered vegetable fried rice over the phone and when I picked up the order I saw on the receipt hibachi vegetable. I told them we ordered fried rice. They said that is what we are getting you. so I made sure with her "vegetable fried rice" she said yes. Mind you not that big of a deal if it is hibachi vegetable but we ordered 4 of the fried rice. Food is always good but they should work on getting customers what they ordered. Hibachi! Smells great as you're driving by the restaurant...gotta go inside to check it out Even though I've only gone in to eat a few times, the food is always hot & very delicious. The set-up is a little different than what you would usually have at another restaurant, as in your food is served to in to-go plates even when you stay to eat. Like I've seen some others say here, anything new in Big Spring is exciting. So even though we'll take whatever we can get, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. I come from Southern California, which is known for higher quality food, and I would have been impressed with this place even there. I had the combination beef and chicken hibachi with noodles. Tender and well seasoned meat, fresh vegetables (obviously not previously frozen) and everything was very tasty. They cooked it specifically to order for me. I haven't tried any of the sushi yet but I will next time. Staff seemed very nice and they were helpful as well, making some great recommendations. Not a great drink selection but hey, I was happy to get such great food that I didn't really care about the drinks. read more

Foods pretty good here. All the hibachi we have tried had been great. No complaints.
