    Pickled mustard greens and pickles
    Mike C.

Amazed that I've never reviewed this business. I've been buying their offerings for years at the Saturday Ferry Farmer's Market. Starting with their basic kimchi, I've grown to enjoy their wider variety of vegetables in recent years. My favorite is the smokeshow (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=4wSbOqyH3Im2yYVyw17N9A&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), made with regular cabbage as opposed to the traditional Napa cabbage. They also offer cucumbers in a regular pickling juice as well as the traditional kimchi marinade. Recently, I tried the pickled mustard greens and pickles (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=a7_vGmgWZJ5epzP_JejvGA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); this was a nice change of pace. I will likely get this again but my lean is towards the spicier items. Big thanks to Lisa for explaining the various items that they carry. My friends and I appreciate having options and your non-traditional take on this Korean food classic.

The rustic/home style decor was very welcoming and it seemed that a lot of the folks knew the cashiers/barista! Some people even stopped by just to say hi and welcome back the barista that was on leave for a bit. I forget his name, but he was a lovely person to chat with! I ordered a Breakfast Burrito with Carne Asada ($12) and an iced latte with Oat Milk ($6). It took ~15-20 for my burrito but the latte came out within five minutes and was made fresh with Portrero Trade Operations coffee beans! While waiting, I ended up buying a bag of coffee beans with flavor notes that were so unique- "cola, tomato, and herbaceous". For $25 you get a whole pound of coffee beans, which most only offer 12oz now. Get a bag while you can! The breakfast burrito was served with one green and one red salsa plus a small bag of chips. The burrito was decently sized and very juicy. I was a bit sad to see that the cheese wasn't melted inside, but the fresh pico de gallo inside totally made up for it. The carne asada had a great bite to it and everything was seasoned well. The salsa verde was absolutely stunning. Not too acidic and just the right amount of spice to go with my burrito. I ordered for takeout, but next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going to consider dining in for the full experience.

I had enchiladas for my entree. They somehow reminded me of a great lasagna, but they were just OK as enchiladas. The ambiance is nice enough to warrant a return visit, but I'm not rushing to come back. Related: they only serve beer and wine so there's that

I purchased some of my favorite spices: cayenne pepper, white pepper, poppy seed, and one other. I've purchased this brand in the past, but didn't really appreciate the quality of the brand until now. Over the years I have relied on McCormick for the spices that I really care about. For basic spices like Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and salt, I resorted to Aldi and even the dollar store. Morton and Bassett spices are worth the extra expense since they taste fresher and have great flavor. I don't give five stars out to anyone, but Morton & Bassett went from 4 to 5 stars because of their customer service. After my purchase, I discovered that two of my spices did not have a shaker option. Perhaps many people don't shake their cayenne pepper or white pepper on prepared foods like I do. Either way, I was really disappointed with this seamingly minor inconvenience. Please let me explain that it is very difficult to sprinkle a small portion of pepper on your dinner if you do not have the little plastic top with the convenient holes. I know...most people would just suck it up and perhaps spoon the spices out or simply purchase a different brand (with a shaker top) next time. Well, fortunately for me, I made the wise decision to look up their customer service phone number on www.mortonbassett.com (found with a simple Google search). My call was immediately answered by an English speaking, professional representative! This alone was impressive. He offered a quick and simple resolution and mailed two plastic shaker tops to my home. I wish I remembered his name. Either way, it may seem like a simple thing, but I appreciate it a great deal.
