    awesome spicy cucumber from Sinto
    Trish P.

GREAT products made with fresh local (to SF) ingredients. they sell cabbage kimchee, white kimchee, radish kimchee, cucumber kimchee..... all kinds! the flavors are fresh, and if you talk to the owner? vendor? she tells you about how her kimchee reflects the area she was raised in. there is no use of fish products in her kimchee (you might find that in other kimchee's), and all the flavors are clean and nicely spicy. she gives samples too if you want to try some before you buy! any kind you get will be tasty! try and buy all of them.... they're good. check out these websites for more info: http://www.realtimefarms.com/source/6733011/sinto-gourmet http://www.sintogourmet.com/

The spicy radish kimchi is the cat's pajamas. For anyone who likes tabasco on eggs, try it with breakfast.

These inside shops were curated by the likes of Alice Waters (chez panisse chef in Berkeley) and are nothing short of beautiful. Be warned there are inflated prices for most things. The coffee, baked goods, fruit, and dessert selection is especially exceptional. The market itself is not dog friendly however, people still seem to bring their furry friends along. Honorable mentions: * Brown sugar latte from Painted Leopard (oatmilk) - incredibly creamy and sweet. Coffee taste was mild and well balanced. * Apricot kefir from Achadinha Cheese Company - Creamy, tangy, and pairs so well with fruit. * Thousand layer cake from NUSA - not a typically easy to find dessert. The layers are soft and delicious while not being too sweet. * Pain epi from Acme - the perfect vessel for cheeses and spreads. Light, crispy, and easy to pair with anything whether sweet or savory. This market is such a fun way to experience the local vendors in the area with your taste buds. Come early before 11/12 pm so its not too crowded.

Very well organized and traffic is under control. Foot traffic can be thick. Watch out for baby strollers. Wish dogs were kept out according to the signs. That said, they are also the PRICIEST FM I've seen in the city. And really crowded, so go early at 9AM opening, or close to 2PM market close. Some favs: RIZE BAKERY - great for their breads but their cookies are yum! ROOT DOWN FARM - Heritage breeds, organically fed, pasture raised PORK, bacon, sausage, chops, shoulder, lard or organically fed POULTRY whole chickens, parts, bone broth, ground chicken, stock bones, DUCK whole, breast, legs, broth & GROUND TURKEY. Always a crowd at their booth! REGENERATIVE A2/A2 Organic (Alexandre Family Farms) - carries regenerative, organic, humane diary products, eggs' milk, grass-fed milk, half & half, yougurt, kefir; cheddar cheese, ground beef, organic eggs. Another popular booth! LOU XIONG FARMS - Asian produce from Fresno. Fresh, well-curated, friendly. MARSHALLS FARM HONEY - local Bay Area honey. A long time staple, BAY AREA HONEY (back in the day, SF Honey), is favorite. J&M IBARRIA FARMS - fresh produce from Sacramento, San Benito and Santa Clara counties. Fresh, fresh, with crowds at their booth. STEPLADDER RANCH & CREAMERY - GRASS-FED BEEF, bones and offa, PORK, chops, sausages. Artisan cheeses, TG they're here! Otherwise it's a trip to Palo Alto FM. H&H FRESH FISH - Fresh local seafood from Santa Cruz. Whatever is fresh that day. Plus tuna poke, or rockfish, salmon, Italian squid ceviches. Also a crowd pleaser so be patient. DELIGHTFUL FOODIES (Oakland) - pies, pies, pies! Favs are KEY LIME PIE and CHOCOLATE PRALINE PECAN CREAM PIE! Latter best served warm. Mmmm. YOODOOBOO - fresh made tofu! CLEMENT STREET FM is a great artisan, organic FM with much more to explore. Too many to list here. There was also a booth for pet treats from MARIN RAW. Homemade soaps bath products. Something for everyone in the household. See you there!

Parking in the area can be a bit tough and you might have to circle the blocks a few times or end up parking a little further away, but with so many great stands at the market and shops on Clement street it's worth it.

Every single time I've ordered from him he's totally rude to me when he's totally nice to other customers. Not sure what his problem is. I ordered Challah from there once. Wasn't good. Too dry. They don't call it Challah anyway, they use the German name with the word Challah in parentheses. Wouldn't matter if the bread and service were good. Hadn't been there in a couple years so I went today for a pretzel. I thought, Maybe the service has changed. Maybe the dude acting is nice now. Fat chance. I walk up to the booth and wait for him to finish with the previous customer. He's all friendly with them. As soon as he's done he looks right at me and says real stern, "What do you need?!" I tried to brush it off and smiled and said "I need that right there," pointing to a pretzel. Big smile, hope I could elicit some sort of common courtesy. Not happening. He says $2.50! Or whatever he price was. I give him the money. He curtly gives me my change and says "50¢." No smile, no thank you, have a nice day. No guten tag. Nothing. Nada. Nichts. Bread Nazi. It was a decent pretzel. I've had better though. It was definitely my last one from this guy. On the other hand the guy who sells dates is Awesome. Awesome dates, awesome variety, awesome service. Super friendly, down to earth. A real Bay Area type person. He'll let you sample new kinds of dates and give you tips on how to eat them etc. I recommend the one that are almost round and taste like butterscotch! They are so good!! And he takes plastic via the Square, so I bought a full pound. I've been buying them from him for an few years and they are delish! The rest of the markets pretty good. Awesome looking veggies. I used to be able to get some nice basil at a really good price. Haven't seen any lately but hopefully I will. Anyways good place to be on Thursdays in the FiDi.

But now that I'm trying to get a little more plant-based, I have a little more motivation these days, plus I have this neat canvas bag I got for free from the Halal Guys at 53rd and 6th in Manhattan. So now I can carry produce and compete with all those elderly Chinese women with their flimsy pink bags. Oh yes, that last Chinese eggplant is MINE, old lady! I actually come here for the produce I never see at Safeway or even Whole Foods like Romanesco zucchini. Y'know, the big gray-green ones with the prominent ribbing and nutty taste. No inappropriate jokes please. I also come here to get at least a couple of bunches of Chinese long beans and those silky-firm white peaches. I have to say I have no problem filling up my Halal Guys bag with fresh goodies because the vendors here always have quality produce (see my photo gallery). It's worth coming just for the free samples but expect to get an elbow in the face from the more aggressive cheapskates. Nothing is ever free, is it? The market fits snugly into the ground floor of the Crocker Galleria every Thursday from 11AM to 3PM (plus Tuesdays during the summer). Come early if you want your pick of the freshest produce, but get your stinking hands off my Romanesco zucchini. That's mine!
