We went to Vogue under their new ownership on 7‑2‑26. We've been going there for 15 years, and unfortunately this was the most disappointing visit we've ever had. We ordered the appetizer tempura calamari and scallops. It arrived as one large fried clump, very unappetizing, and we had to pick through it to find any calamari or scallops. I ordered the special of the day, prime rib. I requested medium‑rare, on the rare side as prime rib should be. It came out extremely overcooked and tough, even difficult to cut. I didn't eat any of it. On the brighter side, my husband's salmon was cooked perfectly. However, it was supposed to come with a side of risotto, and there was maybe two tablespoons on the plate. The bartender, Jayce, did his best to make up for the food. He didn't make excuses and handled the situation professionally. We did receive a complimentary dessert. The new owner was present but never stopped by, even though the food was returned uneaten. The restaurant itself looks worn down--paint peeling, menus dirty and worn. Perhaps the new owner is aware and plans to restore the quality and ambience Vogue was once known for. Until then, we won't be back. We'll likely check again in six months to see if improvements have been made. It's definitely not what it used to be. read more

We bookmarked this place after seeing people rave about it on Facebook back when we moved here 4 years ago. We finally went and I will say it was pretty disappointing. You can tell everyone there are local regulars. Probably their go to weekend dinner spot. It was odd they were playing Patch Adams on the tv screen. The smell was off. Kind of like old seafood. Our server was a nice guy and our busser, now she stood out! I am horrible with names so I can't remember their names. But the busser was so full of personality and loved her! Everyone else there just seemed like robots with zero personality. We were sat right in front of the kitchen where the gals just stood there to run food out. Definitely a lot of employees for a small place. We wanted to start with the cheese fondue then got told it's no longer on the menu. Our waiter recommended the kettle chips. Husband isn't a fan of Gorgonzola so he suggested doing half parm cheese half Gorgonzola so it worked out. Chips seemed freshly cooked. Not greasy. Served with what tasted like buffalo or franks red hot sauce. It all worked and tasted good. I got a side caesar salad and I must say. That wasn't a Caesar. It had sad iceberg lettuce and a dressing that was on the sweet side. Kind of reminded me more of a thousand island or creamy french dressing. Not worth $8. Meal wise we each ordered the vogue steak which was basically steak and fries. Fries were hot and crispy. The steak was supposed to be a prime grade flat iron but it was tough. The portion size was actually comical. It looked like they took a normal piece of steak and cut it in half. Gave half to me and half to the husband. I even asked the waiter if they split one meal for us or if it was 2 meals. He said it was 2 meals and that was actually the largest steak they had. Last we had dessert. They were kind enough to treat me to a dessert for my birthday. The creme brulee was good. It's weird to me when it's served warm. But it was good. At the end of our meal someone next to me ordered the fish special that I considered ordered. But I was glad I did not. Being a huge seafood lover, the smell coming from that fish was horrible. I honestly got sick to my stomach and had to get out of the place. Not sure why it was so foul. Overall. I don't think we will be back. We didn't seem to fit in with the crowd of retired people. This is a hard one to write. I'm still processing what happened and why. My wife and I have been to Vogue many times, and the food has always been solid and service good. We saw that the special this weekend was Beef Wellington, one of my favorites, so we invited another couple to go out with us to enjoy this dish (I was the only one in our party who has had this previously). We made an on-line reservation, and had no choice other than "patio". We thought this would be fine. When we arrived, we were led to a table in the front corner of the patio area, one of only two that were in the full sun. The temperature was relatively mild - 84 degrees, but anyone who has spent any time in the Arizona sun knows how hot it can be regardless of the ambient temperature. There were many open tables on the patio as well as in the restaurant, so we asked if we could have a table that wasn't in the full sun. We were told "no". When we asked for a reason, we were told that others who had made reservations had specifically requested the other tables in that area. Since the patio was 80%+ empty at that time, this seemed a little strange - I'm sure that they stagger reservations. OK, what about the tables that did NOT have "Reserved" signs on them? No response. Asked again...no response. I then asked if there were shades that could be pulled down or anything else we could do to make the table more amenable to a decent meal. All I got was "no"...followed by "you can wait until the sun goes down" - which wasn't due to happen for well over an hour. By this time our group had decided that we would go elsewhere for dinner - we had no desire to sit in the full sun for the entirety of dinner. I asked to speak to a manager before we left so I could convey my disappointment at the situation. My interactions with him made me feel worse about the situation because of his attitude. We had a low key, non-emotional discussion - but apathy just oozed from his pores. He reiterated that the tables on the patio other than "ours" had been specifically requested by others. Apparently he felt that simply echoing the "company line" was sufficient, because that was all I got from him. No offer of any alternate solution - maybe to check and see if something might be available indoors....or suggest that we sit in the bar? Absolutely nothing - just a deadpan stare that told me he'd like me to leave. You'd think that a manager at a mid-level restaurant would at least offer something like "I'm sorry we can't accommodate you" or "please give us another chance in the future". Nope...nothing. So, I informed him that it was unfortunate that he'd lost some repeat customers...and not just for that night. No response - he just turned his back and walked away. I guess it's good that this business must enjoy full tables every night and don't need to treat their customers well. I seldom leave a poor review on a place on Yelp - but this place REALLY deserves it based on our treatment. read more

We made a reservation for 6:30pm but they couldn't seat us until 7pm. The restaurant has a west facing exposure so it was uncomfortably warm inside. The wait staff was innatentive but friendly/efficient enough one we could flag them down. I had the shrimp risotto and my wife had the carbonara. The shrimp was over cooked and rubbery and the risotto had the consistency of rice pudding. The pasta in the carbonara was sitting in a sea of liquid with minimal bacon. The wine & beer were okay. Bearing in mind the resort prices they are charging we'd hoped for a much better experience. I definitely couldn't recommend and won't be returning. read more

We celebrated our anniversary at Vogue Bistro, and it totally delivered that "fancy but not fussy" vibe. The night started strong with a silky Lobster Bisque that could've easily doubled as a cozy blanket -- rich, smooth, and impossible to stop eating. For entrées, we went classic: the Chicken Cordon Bleu (basically the world's most elegant stuffed chicken nugget -- crispy outside, melty ham-and-cheese inside, total perfection) and the Duck Two Ways, which looked and tasted like something straight out of a French chef's daydream. Both plates disappeared embarrassingly fast. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, our waiter surprised us with an Apple Tarte Tatin à la mode to celebrate our anniversary -- warm, flaky, drizzled with caramel, and just the right amount of "wow, I'm definitely eating this even though I said I was full." Service was on point, the atmosphere was romantic without being snooty, and the whole night felt like a little celebration wrapped in butter and good lighting. Pro tip: Get the soup, order something that sounds French, and always say yes to dessert -- especially if they bring it out for free. read more

We were very disappointed in this restaurant. Caesar salad had no flavor just oil and water! I chose pasta carbonara. Pasta was cold, extremely black peppered and dry. Waiter took it back to warm it up and returned with it all stuck together and clumped butter on the plate. Two other people in our party had the duck, which was undercooked and tough. We went into Vogue a few weeks ago and found out they had changed their menu. They removed my favorite item, the Frido Miso, and changed the onion soup. Why would you try to improve on perfection? I ordered the ravioli and received only five or six pieces for $27. They were far too salty and just not good. The appetizers we ordered were also very disappointing and overly salty. I'm a salt person, so if it's too salty for me, that says a lot. I've been going to Vogue for years and have never had a bad food experience. Sometimes the service is slow, but the food always made up for it. Because of the prices, I'm hesitant to go back and give it another chance. With such a dramatic decline in quality, I'm sad to say I can't see this place staying in business much longer! It's like they're trying to put an Italian spin on it, but Vogue is FRENCH, not Italian. It's really unfortunate. Please change the menu back!! read more

This is an a wonderful place for a nice dinner. They have a great happy hour as well. I hear. Everything look good and service was impeccable. The patio had great ambience. They retain their workers for many years some since the place opened. We ordered the beer cheese appetizer and they gave us so much cheese. We had to order more bread to go with it, but they gave that to us complementary. We did not want to waste one bit of it.!! We went there after a ceremony and so we were celebrating. The Prada, my favorite drink in a long time. A mix of grapefruit and pomegranate martini. I can still taste it. Anything you order will be awesome. It's far from her house, but I definitely will be back at some point. Try the pretzels they're hot and wonderful part of an appetizer. The bruschetta was different than I thought it was going to be again very tasty and well presented. I love supporting Mom and pop restaurants. I try to be positive with my reviews with over 90% being 4 and 5-Star reviews. So I do not take this one lightly. I made a reservation for my 44th wedding anniversary. I wanted something nice, something different, so I thought Vogue might be that something. I stated on my reservation that it was my wedding anniversary, hoping for something special. There were several young ladies that seated us. We were placed on the bar side of a partition. That partition block the lovely view of the dining room windows. Rather than the nice dining room view, we were treated with the bar view. I explained to the hostess that it was our anniversary and asked for a dining room table rather than a bar table. She quickly rebutted, "that is the dining room". I asked if we could be seated at one of the open tables in the dining room and was told "sorry, those are reserved". Yes, I reserved as well. And that was it, she was done with me. My anniversary experience was depressing and a 2-star experience. The food experience would have normally been 3-star review, but it was not a good food night either. I saw a beautiful looking lamb shank on Yelp and while not on the menu, they do have a daily chef's special. Maybe I'll get lucky. Our server came by and asked if we had any questions. I asked what the chef's special was and was told that there wasn't one. That was disappointing. In the mean time, the guy at the table next to us ordered the Lasagna. You guessed it. No Lasagna. He then walked away without taking our drink orders. When he came back, I ordered the Filet Mignon and my wife order the seafood pot pie. The Filet was a perfectly cooked med-rare and was tasty, but tougher that I thought a Filet should be. With that, I added the lobster bites which were among the driest that I've ever had. Also, I did not like the potatoes Au Gratin at all. My wife's seafood pot pie was so fishy that she hardly ate hers. We'll, there's still dessert, right. There was a Creme Brulee that I was dying to try. Well, wouldn't you know, the oven is broken and there is no Creme Brulee. So we got the cheesecake which wasn't bad, but disappointing since we had our hearts set on the Creme Brulee. The steak and french onion soup was good, but otherwise the depressing nature of our anniversary dinner wiped out what little positive there was in the evening. There was zero consideration for our special evening. Oh, and the two tables that were open that I was told were reserved, still empty when we left. read more

We LOVE Vogue Bistro!!!!!! Everything about it is GREAT!!! Food is always delicious, Service is always GREAT!!! Jason is a great server, when we do get him he always explains every meal on the menu of the specials of the day. The restaurant is intimate and we love seating in the Patio. Highly highly recommended this place. We love Martini Mondays, Mondays and Tuesday they have a special for $70. which includes two soups or salads, 2 entrees from the Menu and one dessert. Okay I'm not sure how to begin. Air conditioning wasn't working so it was uncomfortable but can't determine my whole review. It's just unfortunate. It was was 110 degrees out this day. It smelled old. I'm so sensitive to bad smells in a place where fresh food is being made. There aren't a ton of options for people who are super clean eaters. Yes, they have salmon but I'm just weird about fish in the desert Now the good stuff We ordered spinach salads as it was too hot for a hot meal My friends had the salmon, the fish pot pie and they loved it. Said it was truly delish. Our waiter was good when he was at the table. Wine took a long time to get to the table. Took a very long time to even be able to place an order. I don't know if he was the only waiter in the whole place. I think people will like it but for me it was an "eh" experience. We wouldn't go back on our own or if we were invited. read more

They don't serve minorities. Was Sat at a table for 30 minutes without any acknowledgment the waiter did not hold the door open even though we were right behind him. Great hideaway in Surprise! Busy, but it was Saturday night when we went. Definitely make a reservation! Both inside and outside seating was full. We might try the lanai next time when it's cooler. Happy hour menu is excellent! Dana suggested the Vogue Chips and they were spot on. Also has the Fritto Misto, definitely a shareable dish. Not only was Dana, our server, knowledgeable about the menu but service was excellent. The two young men that ran the food out and greeted us with water were very friendly and polite. My expierence for lunch was horrible! There were four options for entree's, and they were out of one. No chicken, pasta or fish options. You could have a hamburger, French Dip, or a salad. They did not have several of the appetizer or dessert options. We began sitting on the patio under the misters. The misters went off and we asked three times that they be turned back on. No luck. We had to move back inside the restaurant. When I received my French Onion soup it was burned. Sent it back to the kitchen. Service was extremely slow. I'd give Vogue a C+ rating. Service was extremely slow. We had a 6:30 reservation and were not seated until 6:50. Once seated we waited until after 7 for someone to take an order. Food was ok. The Manhattan was excellent and plentiful. My husband had escargot which was adequate. I was disappointed in the Fritto Misto. It was described to be a tempura batter, however it was more deep fried, greasy and heavy, The steaks were excellent (filet and skirt ), but the fries were undercooked. Disappointed. My boss (a physician/surgeon) and I decided to visit this bistro for a dinner meeting as it is close to the office and was recommended by one of her colleagues. Sadly she (my boss) was treated very rudely by our waiter, she asked what salad he would recommend and one additional question to follow (*note - she has a slight accent but speaks English very clearly) his response was "do you not speak English?" I am usually one to ask for a manager or address a situation civilly head on but I was so taken by his statement that I was honestly speechless. - The comment was uncalled for and insulting, I felt it was racial since it is apparent that she is from another country. We always have a nice experience here. They have a good wine selection, but their martinis are spot on. One of my favorite things to order is their Vogue burger. It sounds generic, but it has such a great combo of different flavors. We also have enjoyed the flatbread, beet salad and seafood gumbo. Always delicious! read more

We went to Vogue on 11/1. Husband made res on line for our Anniversary which he said we were celebrating. I will start first the seating we were sat closest to the toilets/POS system and the service window. The wine was good as were our drinks (the only reason for the 2). Both of us ordered the special (beef bourguignon) which was $35.99 or $39 (can't remember). Mine had 3 little bites of "meat" one of which was mostly fat. This was delivered over mashed potatoes. There was mostly gravy. My husband received ZERO bites of meat. It was $2 worth of food for a ridiculous mark-up. The waiter gave him $15.00 off of my husband's meal. People 3 down from us ordered the same. There meal looked completely different with more meat however, we noticed they left within 5 minutes of their food coming. I don't think it was just our opinion. We had creme' brulee for desert. The custard was flavored nicely but, the thick layer of sugar over the top was far to much so, we scraped it off. We used to go to Vogue often but, had not been in a while. This was a HUGE let down especially, since we were celebrating our 23rd. Oh well, next time we will drive to Scottsdale to pay that kind of money and get GREAT food too! read more

My husband took me out for a surprise date night. At first glance this place seemed cute, the greetings were amazing. Our waiter did a fine job and the food was unique. I would have loved to tried other dishes but after our experience we will will not be coming back. We were purposely ignored by the female manager who asked every other table "how was everything" or "would you like to sample some wine". We asked the nice ladies next to us were they in some kind of club or is there something special going on and they both quickly told us no. This is not how you treat your guest. We were the only interracial couple there and pray that this had nothing to do with it however it felt like it. Hopefully yall will get better and treat all guests equal. read more

We've been coming to Vogue Bistro since 2011. We are here often and we always enjoy ourselves. The staff are fantastic, the food is wonderful and they always have a special going on to mix up the menu a little. The restaurant is cozy, which is okay most of the time, but when it's full, the bar or patio is our go-to. The patio is great, shade and misters in the summer and heaters in the winter. The bar, awesome, the interactions with the bartenders is fantastic. This is our neighborhood restaurant. read more
