    Stromboli

This pizza spot is conveniently located on the UAB campus. The stromboli was big enough for two people. It was cooked to order. The facility was clean. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was friendly.

If you're on or around the UAB campus and you're looking for a dine-in pizza option that serves up a solid pie in a bright, welcoming environment then this is definitely your spot. Plenty of seating both inside and out. Quick and easy ordering at the counter, (then wait for your name to be called), prices that won't wreck your wallet, and a variety of pizza, calzone and pasta options to suit everyone. Service was quick. Portions were up to par. The people were friendly. The food was delicious. The place was super clean. What else can you ask for? 5 stars.

Hands down best thin crust I've ever had. Wings were great also. Have been back multiple times.

We made it to Wooden City for dinner on Thursday night. We made reservations for our party through…read morethe link on the restaurant's website (Resy), and the process was straightforward and easy to modify when our party size and time changed at the last minute. Wooden City is located off Morris Avenue in a shared row of older buildings. There's a private parking lot behind the building, and you can have your parking ticket validated at the restaurant. The location and vibe on Morris Avenue are really neat and uniquely Birmingham. It's a great addition to the city's dining scene. Our party of four started with drinks and shared three appetizers: the Bread and Butter, Heirloom Tomatoes, and Steak Tartare. My favorite was the Bread and Butter. It's house-made focaccia served with a sun-dried tomato spread and an oil dipping sauce. The bread was amazing. For my entrée, I ordered the Peel-and-Eat Shrimp from the appetizer menu. It was fabulous--a generous portion of large shrimp that were perfectly seasoned and grilled. For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Mousse and Blueberry/Blackberry Crisp. The crisp was my favorite. It was served hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream--an excellent way to finish the meal. While Wooden City doesn't have a large menu, everything we tried was very well done. I definitely recommend giving it a try, but don't be in a hurry. The service was a little slow during our visit.

This place was recommended by a local Birminghammian and it was a good recommendation. Three of us…read morewere working somewhere nearby and we took an Uber here and it was kinda packed. We snagged some seats at the bar and had some drinks and shortly after that, our table was ready. And they were able to keep everything on one check, which was nice. No need to settle the tab and start a new one at the table. And the old fashioned I had was delicious. For food, we started with the Hungarian Hot Stuffed Peppers. These were pretty good and the heat gradually snuck up on you as you ate them. I don't know if it was because the heat was more intense as you worked your way towards the stem or just a gradual burn. Either way, these were good and worth the heartburn later. The thick focaccia helped with the burn a little. Speaking of heartburn, the pepperoni pizza may have contributed a bit to that too, but again, totally worth it. The cup-and-char pepperoni was charred nicely as were the edges and bottom! I love a nice bottom! These were easy to share between two of us. Service was amazing from the bartender to the waiter to the uber driver (who didn't really count, but nice job, man). We felt welcomed and I can see why the place was crowded on a Tuesday evening.

Wife and I ate there before going to the movie. She ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. Noddles were cooked perfectly. Meat sausage covered the noodles, not like some places that but a ladle in the middle and you end up with more noodles without sauce. I ordered the Salvatore's Special Calzone. Won't be the last time. Crust was crispy, filling were abundant and extremely tasty. My wife mentioned that unlike some calzones this one was not greasy. It was very flavorful. There place is rather small with less than a dozen tables inside, and an outdoor covered patio. Very comfortable, friendly staff, and obviously everything cooked to order. This may well become one of my new favorite places. Looking forward to my next visit, and sorry I've missed the opportunity to eat here over the last 40 years or so.

It was then and now my favorite pizza place in Birmingham. I am from New York and the pizza reminded me of home. I only found out a few weeks ago that this "Downtown" location even existed. I would usually take the 25 minute drive up 280 for my pizza. I have no idea how I missed this. Food: The sauce is the key. Weiher on the pizza or on the pasta. We always order a Meatball Pizza and it has been very consistent. My son and I had a Medium Meatball pizza and Cheese Ravioli Parm which comes with Garlic Bread. Service: The service is simple. You order at the counter, and they bring it to your table. Just like every other Salvatore's location. The manager was OUTSTANDING. I asked for the crust to be a little more done, and it was PERFECT. Ambiance: Super Casual and perfect for the food they make. Lots of table and for the most part very clean. Pizza is a personal thing. What I like, other don't or have their own special place. Now that I know Salvatore's is so close to my home, actually walking distance, I will eat there more often. As a matter of fact, we are ordering for pick up tonight. I don't use delivery services unless I am desperate. Eat Well, Drink well and stay Healthy.
