    Personal pizza

Tried this place in Uptown and it was surprisingly good for a pizza joint! My pizza had peppers and tomatoes on it! Dough on pizza was made fresh and I really enjoyed my little bite to eat! You get complimentary red sauce, pepper flakes and grated Parmesan cheese at the bar. The tables with benches were made super sturdy. The music and art made me feel like I was right in Italy. My fiancé got an Italian hard seltzer and it was perfectly sweet and went well with the pizza. The restaurant was clean and service was quick!

Get ready for some beautifully crafted authentic wood fired pizza folks!! This place is a little trip to Naples. Service is excellent, gelato available, but it's really all about the pizza. Simple indoor seating and very casual. Wine and beer available. They do takeout as well.

They already have a high star rate but this place should have a fully perfect high 5 star rate. The server that I placed the order with was seriously perfect and kind. And she helped me pick which pizza I ordered. The chefs and the one that delivered my pizza to my table were all hard workers with a great vibe too. The feel inside is great in here. The whole palace was good and the pizza was honestly equal to my favorite unique pizza ever. If you want a boring plain pizza go to one of the plain pizza places but if you want a wonderful delicious pizza and have a good seat with some good tvs playing, come here for sure.

This place was amazing, fast, plenty of seating and the food was phenomenal. We had our puppies and there was outdoor seating, this place worked out perfect for us passing through.

    Siena

Ordered for take out and even when not fresh out of the oven, this pizza was incredible. I got the Siena and didn't realize how big it would be, and makes $21 a STEAL!! The pizza was huge. The pepperoni was the best I'd ever had and the crust was thin, crispy, and soft all at the same time. The cannolis are incredible too and the tiramisu! I'll be back soon to try it fresh!

We came after a long day of travel. We were able to walk here from our hotel. Nice. We ordered the Siena pizza. It tasted amazing but was a bit too greasy for us. Probably because of all the pepperoni. But the staff was very nice and we would definitely return. Just maybe go for a veggie or caprese pizza next time

Picture doesn't do justice. Palermo is excellent!

This restaurant is the most authentic Italian pizzeria experience in town. They make Napoletana style pizzas and their attention to detail is outstanding. The signature of a Naples-style is the chewy dough, sweet tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese. I had the Palermo, and it was amazing. Sausage, sweet red peppers, caramelized onions, San Mariano tomato sauce and mozzarella. The pie had a thin bottom and puffy bordering crust; the outside had a little char from the oven. The toppings are perfectly portioned. They were fresh and tasty, and they complemented the remarkable crust. I also tried the cannolis and they were as good as Mike's Pastry's at the North End in Boston. I was blown away. This place is the real deal, and may be the BEST pizza in Birmingham.

Loved the fresh ingredients on a perfectly cooked pizza that has just enough crust for me to dip in the hot marinara sauce available as a serve-yourself. I didn't have room to sample any gelato but I got some cannolis to go. Both the pistachio cannoli and the chocolate chips cannoli were perfect to me - I prefer a whipped Creme/ricotta cheese filling, in a crisp shell, with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Personal pizzas are available 11am-4pm. Really good Neapolitan pizza. I'll be back soon for more pizza, gelato, and cannoli.

A nice set up, a fairly roomy and casual dining area, a cooler with bottled beverages, a wide open kitchen where you can watch all of the action, and a cute gelato and dessert cooler. It doesn't have a lot of character as it is a strip mall with some Italian memorabilia on the wall. The location is convenient for me so that is a big plus. I really wanted to give 5 stars, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. The pizza was good, but not great. We had a Palermo pie. The ingredients used are mainly quality. However, it was not the highest quality of crust. Truly elite authentic crust with proper rise and a nice crust with crispy bits - like the best of the best, doesn't leave you feeling heavy afterwards. I'm not sure if it's the flour itself or the recipe, but the crust wasn't quite right in my opinion. This pizza would be very very average somewhere like NYC, though many in Birmingham will find it above average. The Friday evening when I went it was very very busy with a full staff working hard in the kitchen and we waited a little under an hour for a pie to go. The staff was so kind and friendly and the setup was good. If the crust was improved I could add another star, but the pizza was just really missing something. I would also like to see some different topping options. I think people may be overrating it to some extent because of the hype. All in all I hope to see them succeed. I may try them again for lunch and see if my opinion is the same after a second visit. As it stands I can think of at least 3 other pizza places I prefer locally.

I still haven't tried their pizza, but go regularly for cannoli and gelato. Best in the area!

We walked up the street with a half dozen other diners. Wooden City is definitely not in the best part of BHM. Walking to the restaurant was a little sketchy, no need for a detailed description. Although we had reservations, the hostess looked at us like we had three eyes. She found a small table for us in the far back of the restaurant. No problem, at least we were seated. Our server greeted us quickly and went over the menu. We ordered drinks, blistered Hungarian peppers and a sausage and mushroom pizza. We told him that we were going to a concert and were on a little bit of a tight schedule. By the time our server checked on our food, the second time, we went from a little bit tight to full "gotta get out of here" mode. I guess the delay in getting our food was to give the kitchen time to burn our pizza. Over half of the thick, chewy crust was inedible. The bottom of the pie didn't fare much better. The peppers, on the other hand, were amazing. (not so much so at 2 am but that's just me!) They are a do not miss. We were at least able to settle our bill quickly and made it to the concert with time to spare. Overall, would we go back? Only if in the area - those peppers were amazing. Still, I definitely would not make a special trip.

Yet,…read morewe are humans, we cannot stop ourselves at the Neapolitan classic version, the iconic NYC slices nor the Chicago deep dish. Something within us, is tirelessly reinventing. Whether good or bad, someone else can decide. A real distinction of Pizza Grace is in its most fundamental element, and the aspect that one could argue to be the most important part of any pizza, period. Of course, that would be the crust. The crust here is created with wild yeast sourdough, called "Frank", resulting in a unique profile regardless of what later lands on top of the pizza. Let's pause here for just a second, is it not ridiculous having to wait 24-48 hours for the slow crust fermentation to happen? Apparently, the owners Chef Ryan Westover and his wife Helene didn't think so. Their signature pizza here is no less impressive either: topped with Louisiana crawfish, ricotta, Parmesan, mint and basil. It is a true star of the show. It's hard for most people to pinpoint exactly where they had the best pizza of their life, but this warehouse building in Alabama might just end up being that spot.

Wife and I ate there before going to the movie. She ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. Noddles were cooked perfectly. Meat sausage covered the noodles, not like some places that but a ladle in the middle and you end up with more noodles without sauce. I ordered the Salvatore's Special Calzone. Won't be the last time. Crust was crispy, filling were abundant and extremely tasty. My wife mentioned that unlike some calzones this one was not greasy. It was very flavorful. There place is rather small with less than a dozen tables inside, and an outdoor covered patio. Very comfortable, friendly staff, and obviously everything cooked to order. This may well become one of my new favorite places. Looking forward to my next visit, and sorry I've missed the opportunity to eat here over the last 40 years or so.

I was greeted by the front employee, who was wiping down the final tables before service started. I viewed the menu and saw they offered pizza in different sizes and toppings. They also served pasta, including lasagna, chicken alfredo and spaghetti. I learn that the front employee's name was Solomon. He proved excellent customer service to me, answering all of my questions. He even pulled up a special menu on the TV for me to see that changes every day of the week, serving pizza by the slice instead of a whole pie. I ordered the Spaghetti with mushroom meat sauce, which included garlic bread and a side salad. I also ordered 2 pepperoni pizza with a drink. My total was right at $22 dollars for everything. To me, this was a bargain to get so much food as well. The setting of the table featured red and white tablecloths, which made it feel like a real Italian pizzeria. There are about 30-35 tables, with bar stool seating areas for single guest to enjoy the Birmingham view. My food took about 12 minutes to come out, and Solomon bagged everything nice and neatly before I made it to the counter. I went back to the stool seating to enjoy my food. Once he realized I was dining in, he brought over a parmesan cheese shaker for me to use with my food. This was top tier for me! Very observative. The Meal: I can tell you now that the portion sizes are humorous! The pizza is large thin, hand tossed slices that filled the box of a small pizza. The pasta was enough to feed three people, so they give you a well amount for your money. The pizza had to be eaten folded, which I enjoyed a lot. The pizza sauce was full of flavor, didn't seem like anything out of a can. The slices were cheesy, saucy and not overly greasy with a perfect crust. Some of the pizza I've enjoyed in Birmingham. The spaghetti mushroom meat sauce pasta was very meaty and full of mushrooms. The mushrooms could have been sauteed more before adding to the sauce. As the pasta was full of meat, the sauce could have been more. to cover the bottom of the noddle as well. The garlic bread bursted with buttery, garlicy herb flavor and was super airy and fluffy, not like hard toast baked to plinko chips consistency. The salad was super fresh and simple. The cheese was thick, hand shredded mozzarella cheese with fresh romaine lettuce and a slice of tomato. The ranch dressing was not my favorite, but the house vinaigrette was 10/10! I could drink that dressing; it was so good. I was able to wash it all down with various Coca-Cola fountain drinks or fresh brewed tea (Sweet or Unsweet). Coke Zero was an option, which made me happy! Overall, this visit earned a solid 4.5/5 and I would patronize with them again. Customer service as 5/5, thanks to Solomon. The chefs were hard at work the entire time. By the time I left, 75% of the tables were taken and mostly everyone was eating already too. Check them out if you're in the area! -DASC
