This was my first time going to Tortugas Pizza, and I was very pleased with my experience! I came in about 30 minutes before they closed, so I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to order just a slice that late, but they happily welcomed me and took my order to-go. I was told that it would probably take about 15-20 minutes to be out, but it was a little less than that. I interacted with multiple staff members while I waited, and they were all extremely kind to me. The inside is mainly sports-themed and had plently of seating to choose from. I was sent off with my order packed in a classic styrofoam box and plastic bag. I was given cutlery and plenty of napkins. I got the Chicago stuffed cheese pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. It was hot, not greasy, and tasted like fresh ingredients were used. I appreciated the large portion size as well, since it was just over 9 dollars. I'll definitely be going back soon! read more

I went to Tortugas for lunch. I had a slice of Hawaii thin crust pizza. The single slice is about $12 but it is large! Like twice the size I was expecting. I think it is more like a quarter of a round pizza. The crust was "thin", but thick by most pizza standards. The toppings were phenomenal, Canadian bacon, pineapple, legit cheese and topped with a generous amount of bacon bits.. Atmosphere was perfect for the location across from Regions Field. A real treasure for the area that is growing with new housing, dining and entertainment options. Service was wonderful. read more

Chicago style deep dish is not my top choice for pizza style. To me it is almost like pizza cake and too much bread. Tortuga's may have changed my opinion though! The Tortuga's is very good. It is still stuffed and has loads of delicious cheese but it isn't as dense as some would of the other Chicago DD I've had. We got a slice ( which is more like 2.5 portions) of the Chicago cheese and a slice each of the thin crust. The thin crust was good but the deep dish was king! The restaurant is surprisingly big in the inside. They have a nice beer selection and a few tvs. Service was friendly and we enjoyed our lunch. Would def go back and get more deep dish!! read more

The second I walked in, the staff was super friendly and actually acted like they wanted to be there, which already put me in a good mood. The deep dish is huge, cheesy, and loaded up so well that one slice feels like a whole meal. The large pizza is massive too, so you definitely get your money's worth. For how much food they give you, the prices are really reasonable, which I appreciate because I love good food but I am not trying to go broke doing it. My only complaint is that I wish they stayed open later because I would absolutely go even more if the hours were longer. Other than that, Tortugas is just solid. ***Sigh*** I really had high hopes for this place because of all the great reviews by patrons including from Yelp Elite members. The first thing that struck me about this pizza was the price of a 12" pizza, deep dish or not, $40.00 is way expensive! After the first slice I knew it was NOT for me. The sauce tasted more like a Provençal sauce more than a pizza sauce which is an issue because of how much moisture the sauce holds which is an issue when you don't want a soggy pizza. That was issue number one. The second issue was that instead of pizza shell being pre-baked and then adding the meat, cheese, etc. this was all just put together and baked in the over. Every slice had to be eaten with a knife and fork because it was so wet and soggy from the NOT PIZZA SAUCE. Now, I am stuck with 3/4 of a pizza that I will not eat. Also instead of them dicing the chicken into chunks it was shredded like pulled pork which made the already soggy pizza even more chewy!! The only reason I settled on this place was because I talked myself out of driving 11 hours to Michigan for my deep dish seafood pizza from Pizza Papalis! This was NOT THAT! Just for scale the Deep dish seafood pizza is $45.00 for a Large and the crust literally melts in your mouth and Isn't doughy. Sorry guys, I would not recommend this pizza shop. read more

You feel welcomed once you enter the door. Staff was very helpful and attentive and the restaurant is nice and clean. I like that it is near Railroad Park. My first time at this location was a great experience. I ordered the thin slice in pepperoni and one in cheese. Both were nice size slices. I was told it would take about 10 minutes to bake and they were out on time and delicious! I can't believe it's been nearly 2 years since I last visited here! I must say that the quality of service and food hasn't changed. In this Covid era, the restaurant required mask and had other parameters in place to ensure safety of guests and workers. Definitely felt safe! Every single employee was extremely nice and made sure to check on us multiple times throughout our visit. Our personal server was amazing and I really hate that I don't remember her name but she was outstanding! I had the same pizza from my previous experience... the Beachum . This time with thin crust. It Rocked!!! Prepared just as requested. I also had a small spinach salad. There was nothing small about this salad and the ingredients were all so fresh. I really enjoyed their homemade salad dressings as well! Tortugas easily is one my top places in town whenever I'm in the mood for pizza , which is rare! I just hope that more and more people jump on their bandwagon because this place is Special!!! If there is a downside it would have to be the parking situation. This is a great local place that's situated near the hospitals. They clearly state the pizzas take 30-45 minutes, which I appreciate. We did a take out of two salads and a 12" deep dish. There was a disproportionate amount of crust to sauce ratio, but the pizza itself had good flavor. I also noticed our food wasn't very hot. My roommates and I went to this Tortugas location and really enjoyed our experience. When we arrived, we were greeted as soon as we walked through the door. There were only a few other patrons in the restaurant when we got there, so we were seated immediately. We ordered a 10" Chicago style pizza with pepperoni. We also got a slice of the thin crust pizza with pepperoni as well. It came out in less time than advertised and tasted delicious. Had the pleasure of checking out Tortugas Pizza new location behind Good People Brewery and it was yummy. They serve stuffed slices everyday unlike the Hoover location that serves it only on the weekends. I tried the carne special stuffed slice and it was amazing. Just one slice required to satisfy your hunger but I bet you'll go for another one. The sauce was bright, tasty, and the bread had just enough chew the way I like it. This is my first experience with a stuffed pizza slice but I will definitely be back soon. The location is perfect for grabbing a slice after a Baron's games or after a pint at Good People. However, what stood out the most was exceptional customer service. A young gentlemen made sure all my soda stayed filled while I anticipated my takeout order.
