Vivint attempts to compete with the larger security companies, however, it's products and customer service do not compare and hold the company down. Numerous times I have had to call about my thermostats not working with representatives who have no idea how to help or what to do. At times service reps have actually told me that some of the functions they advertise do not work and not to use them. Once I had a service rep who I am fairly certain could not add or speak any language coherently. My alarm has gone off at times, but no one ever responds. Better off going with a local company and investing in your own off the shelf equipment than what Vivint tries to sell. read more

Lately I wanted to purchase an outdoor camera, went through the online purchase and then saw that I was getting drafted from my account BOTH the full price and the per-month charge. So I got hit with $527.98 AND $97.94 on the same day. I called the next day and was told I would get a refund. When I contacted them today, my refund had been rejected! Dump this company!!! The only reason I gave this company 1 star is I could not give them any! What seemed like a stand-up company offering good service at a modest price turned into something quite different. To begin with, the main piece of equipment (the piece that connects all the various pieces to the internet so the system can be remotely monitored) was not available when the installers arrived and it took 3 MONTHS for it to arrive. Both my wife and I were under the impression that the monthly fees deducted from my checking account were all that was required (hence why I thought it was such a good buy). Then this past January we received notice that we also owed them a monthly fee (over $100.00) to pay for the equipment. We decided we'd had enough of Vivint and called to cancel the contract. The "customer service" representative we spoke with told us that in order for the contract to be canceled and the equipment removed, we would first have to pay in total for the equipment ($3,000.00). Nice way of doing business, don't you think? I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office here in North Carolina. My one regret is that I neglected to check them out on the BBB site (or even Yelp!) prior to letting these folks into my home. Don't make the same mistake! read more

Absolute worst customer service. My husband and I decided to take part in Vivint's 3 day FREE trial. On the third day we called to cancel and we're told they would send someone out on a certain date to pick up the system. No one showed up. After calling a few days later and being told a completely different date and that our account apparently was not cancelled, we were extremely upset. Now we're being told we must pay the full amount ($3000+) to cancel, even though we were told it was done. Today, after speaking with THREE different customer service reps who told us three different stories and gave us the run around, we're being told our first phone call to cancel was disconnected. Extremely upset with this company and the lies and deception they portray. Not the way to conduct business at all. I will never recommend this company. read more

Worst customer service. I have had numerous issues with a system I inherited when I purchased a new house. Each time I call customer service I hear a different story. Went without heat for three weeks due to a faulty thermostat installation and could not get anyone to help me. Have had billing issues and panel issues. Just awful. read more

Vivint is absolutely the worse!!! I'm not living much to the imagination but I have to be really honest with you regarding this company. I got talked into getting this security system by a very persistent sales person who wouldn't take no for an answer. The initial tech installed a camera outside in my yard and the control panel was installed on a wall outside of my living room bathroom. After the allotted 3 day trial period ended, I called VIVINT for the removal of their devices and a tech came and removed their devices without reinstalling my previous alarm system. In fact, the original alarm system was taken by the tech and never left with me. When I talked to the tech about this matter, he looked at me as if I had three heads; and after removing their equipment, left without addressing the matter. Once he left, there were noticeable holes left in various areas inside/ outside of my house. I contacted VIVINT about this situation and was eventually compensated for the damage done to my house. Nevertheless, it still left a bad taste in my mouth because I still had to purchase a new alarm system and fill the holes in the areas where the tech removed their product. This whole matter I though was resolved but today I found out that I'm still being charged for their equipment. Also, they never credited my credit card for the initial equipment installation in the first place. Therefore, this matter is still being resolved. read more

But we did not have the system 24 hours and it was already giving us trouble, we contacted our sale rep, he told us someone of messed with the plug.( remind you it happened in the middle of the night) then that day we went out i alarmed my alarm on my phone, got home super late with sleeping babies and it would not connect to my phone. the whole system was down. ( no alert that it disconnected or anything) very frustrating! I called customer service and they were extremely rude,we put in our written cancel request they told me someone couldn't get out here foe two weeks! I told them that was unacceptable and they told me they would send someone the next day, and here we are and no one is here. I keep calling the company and they are trying to give me the run around. And the rep on the phone laughed at me when i told him no one showed,All this company wants is your money, they truly dont care about your safety. Dear Vivint. (You don't deserve the minimum review of one star.) I just spent 45 mins on hold to describe the following issues (which you deleted) and yes I will be printing this current post AND will be sending a Yelp review. My install was in May/June. My sales associate's credentials were expired, so he used another associate's information to complete the contract. This was not the MAIN issue for my call, but my husband just reminded me of these facts. The reason for my call was because Vivint was suppose to pay a termination fee for my old security system (who had never given me any problems) but I got a letter in the mail today from collections -- the termination fee was never paid. Once I finally was on the phone with someone, they contacted the individual on the contract (who was never there). I was told from CORPORATE that they could not do anything regarding a resolution on my claim but that the person on the sales contract (again who was NOT my sales associate and was NEVER at my house) would contact me regarding a resolution. Oh did I mention my Vivint system hasn't worked in over a month? Yeah, I was signed to contract under false pretenses and now my credit is being affected. And I went to comment some of this on another person's post and my comments were deleted. Scam. Ya'll are a complete scam. You may have cool toys to install in people's homes, but mine have been causing all kinds of issues since install, and with the false pretenses for contract, you've really screwed up. I would give this company a ZERO if I could. The representatives are unprofessional, sassy, unwilling to help and simply don't care about anything but getting your money. Do not go with this company, for many reasons, besides trying to run payments twice without you authorizing it, they will not let you discontinue service without paying 1500-2000$ dollars or more. And if your in real danger don't count on them to call anyone, they will call your phone as if your going to be able to answer it in a real situation of danger. I regret falling for their sales speech & fancy gadgets, and I just want others to learn from my mistake so they don't have to deal with this as well.
