I just received an ad from Focus Broadband to switch to them. In big letters the ad is 500Mbps for only $49.95 and 1Gbps for only $62.95 and very tiny postscript saying free standard installation only for the more expensive service, for new customers in select areas only and do not include taxes, franchise fees, and other user fees. And oh yes, this is a promotional price for only a certain time only, and then monthly fees go up. There is no mention of what the going rates will be or how long the promotional rates will last. The offers are subject to change at any time and other restrictions apply. Trying to email them requires giving email, telephone and address, undoubtedly ensuring being hounded to take their service. I wonder if they want to sell me the old Sunset Beach bridge for a good price as well. Subject to change, with fees, taxes and unstipulated other costs, of course. This is a pathetic pitch for new business that just stinks. read more

Internet speeds drop down literally every single day. Pay for their highest package but consistently receive speeds of (or not even at all) their lowest package and they do nothing to compensate. It's sad when the techs they send out don't even know what the problem is or just say the same excuse ("you were only getting 2/4 lines from the road to your house") to other people in the county. If you need steady internet for work DO NOT come to Brunswick County because you won't get it with Focus Broadband. Issues? I see all these horrible reviews and I can't help but wonder what's going on! We have used Focus for internet only for 3.5 years, and haven't had any real problems. Last month we did notice that we were starting to have issues with glitchy/dropping Zoom & Teams meetings for work. We called customer service, and they informed us that fiber was available in our area. The techs who came out to install it were polite and knowledgeable. No issues since. People have complained about the value as well...we moved here from Texas where we had used Spectrum and ATT. I can tell you that Focus is a MUCH better value than either of those. Cheaper prices and better signal quality? I'll take it. read more

We have had Focus at our home in Calabash for a long time and I can honestly say they are fantastic. The contacts are always very cooperative and polite. I have had no problem with their TV service or internet service. The price is unbelievably low. I don't understand why some people are complaining because I give the company an A+ I also have service with another company in New Bern, NC and I wish I could say the same for them. I don't know how long my parents have used this company for there internet services, but I can easily say that after today I certainly hope they take their business elsewhere. The internet cable was accidentally cut when my father was gardening. They said a service person would be at their house first's thing in the morning to fix it, and they were. However, the gentleman said he needed to go get a cable to replace the one that was broken because the one he had wasn't long enough and he'd be back. Mind you there has been no internet or television at my parents home since yesterday morning. He left the house around 9am...it is now almost 4pm and nobody has come back to fix the internet cable. We called and were told that someone would be there sometime before the end of the day but gave no specific. This is unacceptable! We have been waiting all day for something that should have been taken care of within an hour! We are all beyond frustrated and I am sick of waiting. Not a good first impression for me! read more

I am paying for 1Gbps but while I do get 900Mbps upload I only get 300-400Mbps download. This is with a high end laptop directly plugged into Focus Broadband modem. I have complained before but nothing happens. Also the service regularly drops. As an example, there was a major outage this year that went on for several weeks that during hot parts of the day would cause low bandwidth. The only reason we use Focus is because our POA/HOA made a deal with Focus Broadband to exclusively give focus the business. Since our neighborhood is less than 50% built out the builders have the majority vote and therefore we are locked into Focus Broadband. Use Spectrum, ATT or other. Stay away from Focus if you have a choice. read more

We left spectrum because the bill kept skyrocketing, we switcged to Merge TV, I would like to report, it has been the worst experience ever! I can't get through a single program without some ME8 sorry for the inconvenience glitch. I have reported this time after time with it not being fixed. Currently completely frozen up. This happens consistently and I am currently in the process of searching for a more stable company to purchase from because ATMC/MERGETV is useless, including the fact that I was very quickly able to receive help when buying, but cannot get support when their apps go down. read more

Have been with them for 2 years. Absolute worst WiFi ever, originally was paying $60 a month but it has now gone up to $75 even though we can hardly even use our WiFi. We just called because our cellular data is working better than our WiFi and were told that they could send a technician out but if they don't find anything wrong we'll get a $60 service fee? They used to be decent a few years ago but now it's just horrible. I pay for the highest tier fiber and and get just above dialup speeds often especially in the mornings when I'm trying to work. They made a deal with out POA so we have no other choice outside of cellular. Customer service is also horrible. The last time they sent a guy dressed like a thug with no credentials, in a plain white van with no markings to our house to look at the issue and I refused to let him in because I didn't know who he was. They punished me for that and told me "Well he was our guy and you should have let him in..." This is what happens with you have a monopoly and the consumer has no choice. Buffer Buffer Buffer. Spent one hour waiting for a tech to answer the phone. A lady prerecorded message came on and they hung up on me. Watched 4 hours of Gunsmoke from 7:00PM to 11;00PM and had 35 buffers in that amount of time. We called Focus Broadband on Sunday afternoon and set up a appointment for Monday after 3;00PM. No one showed up. Called again and set up appointment for Tuesday after 11:00AM as both my wife and I have a doctor's appt. It has been like this for over a year. The techs come out and change a box and nothing changes. We pay over $170.00 per month for internet and TV streaming service. No problem with the internet service, but their streaming service is useless. We are looking elsewhere. read more

The company is a joke. Internet goes out atleast once a day. When they were putting our service in, it took 3 different crews 4 times to bury the cable properly in our yard. I hate Spectrum, and was looking forward to ATMC, however I'm not sure I would sign up for their service, even if they were the only provider in my area. ATMC and their contractors have been installing fiber in our area, all the while wreaking havoc on personal property with no regard for safety whatsoever. From getting their equipment stuck in our yard, to failing to put out the proper road signs, they've created nothing but a mess. I'm switching to Spectrum; I know that they suck but they're better than Focus Broadband for WIFI/internet. Foolish me, I had Focus for the last three years thinking that things were going to get better. In 2022 I complained about the slow WIFI and was told by a tech there to get a 'mesh' system (has a broader range of coverage). I did but I really didn't see much difference. Today, two years later I called again about the slowness and they stated that they have a 'pod' system (it's the same as the mesh) and that it'll give me greater coverage around the house. Obviously, they must've known back then that there was a coverage issue as they now are including the pod/mesh system (something they didn't include before). Bottom line is; this so-called internet company is failing. They do answer the phone which is better than Spectrum so I have to give them that....but I'll give Spectrum a try as I just need constant coverage and not the buffering that one constantly has with Focus. read more

I have been having trouble with internet connectivity getting progressively worse for 2 years now! They refused to send anyone out after the coronavirus happened. They said they would not send anyone out unless the service was completely not working. Currently, I have been fighting them for 2 weeks, EVERYDAY with new ticket numbers, new people each time, new excuses, and new problems! I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired of ATMC. If there was anyone else in this damn county to get internet through, so help me God, I would. Now these dumbass people are trying to convince me the problem is my wireless router? Making your modem turn off and back on? Full of shit!!!!!!!! Sick of these people. We've had Focus mergeTV + Internet for almost two years now with only one issue related to our moving across town which resulted in the tech not being able to activate service right away. Still - one phone call from him to the office and it was all fixed. The builders of our new house left a lot of shoddy wiring, but both ATMC techs that came out went above and beyond to repair the terrible ethernet terminations left by the builder (two different pairs bad on both runs back to the garage). At the end of the day everything was up and running. They even worked with me to replace some of their own hardware with my own recently. I work from home and - so far - this has been the most reliable ISP I've dealt with. read more

Focus is the worst cable I have ever had. Always going on and off. Channel selection never goes to the proper channel. Less channels and quality than my old cable box. Movie channels are low definition and small viewing area. Lack of high definition tv channels. Old ATMC cable is much better. I am looking for a new cable provider. I hate it.
