This company is the only non satellite provider in our neighborhood in Brunswick County. Spectrum was chased out of this section of the large neighborhood but continues to provide everyone else. Wish I had them Not sure if ATMC/Focus is playing dirty so as to have a monopoly. Need to be fined if so for conducting monopolistic activities. The speed is as promised but the service drops for several seconds here and there and the tv has to buffer due to their subpar service. Tested it online 2x and the ping speeds differed a lot from 07 to 18 and then 16.! Not great either way. Wish I had spectrum. Was completely happy with them at much less cost. read more

Absolute garbage internet. I've lived in Brunswick county most of my life and have always had problems with either the internet going out later at night OR them downgrading my internet package to the slowest speed while charging me for what I signed up for (multiple times I might add so no accident there). I moved for work for about 3 years and used different internet services during that time, I paid far less, got faster speeds, and rarely, if ever, dealt with an internet outage like I do every single week with this poor excuse for a company. read more

It's pretty sad when you're considering selling your home of 20 years mostly due to utilities &/or lack of options. We pay almost $100 monthly for landline and internet. That would be fine IF the services worked well. I was reminded last night how crappy our internet is...after visiting a home with comparable speeds. Last week, I agreed to hook cable back up to save $ ($60 monthly). Specifically told my needs - they install - I disconnect my other service. They left wires above the ground in the yard - dangerous for kids and dogs (3 day waiting process to clear what's underground - should've been done prior to install and not leave my yard a hazard). In addition, that was NEVER discussed with me and I had to call back to see what the deal was. Then they thought they'd just show back up to do it - ummm...we're gated!! Then, the devices weren't working as promised for the cable & they tried to talk me into less than what I had in order to make it work. NOOOOOO!! I want what I asked for!! We lost ALL our stored shows & will now have to enter a contract - they suck!! Back to DirecTV - wish we had different companies to make it competitive - supposedly monopolies were outlawed but definitely not true here! read more

Every time i call focus to get a technician out to fix my equipment. which has not worked properly since the install. I have to have a passcode/password that they gave me on my first bill but when i read it they tell me it is not correct. Then after that they cannot find me, my equipment, or account at all. I have been trying to schedule an appointment since march when it was first installed. I got an appointment schedule today finally and its an all day wait no rough time frame like other providers have. They just tell you that the tech will be there its on his route so he will show up sometime today we don't give time frames bc we have no idea how long a job will take a tech. They give you a AWG(all in one modem and router). Then they add a wifi pod and that acts as your router and they do no test your wifi speeds only that its online and has some type of internet i pay for a gig service and only get 100-300 mbps if i am lucky enough. I have to constantly reboot the wifi pod to get 30 mins of 800mbps before it drops below 100mbps. Hardwiring has been the best and most steady results. I cannot even pull facebook or google up on my phone with the current wifi service and my pod died after only a couple months. It is piss poor service and quality of equipment that drove me to leave a review. read more

Internet/Carolina Shores, NC ....for the past 3 days my internet speed has been one notch under dial up. Have seen several other local complaints so I feel confident it's not just my house. What will it take to get ATMC to provide the service I pay for? I ran two tests both were under 12 mbps Upload and 2.0 Download. Twice, I got an error message trying to run the speed test...lol...so didn't even have enough juice to run the test. #atmc read more

Great customer service, much faster internet speed available then Spectrum. We have ATMC internet and cable in our winter home in NC. Has worked great 99.999% of the time, one day the internet stopped working, I called ATMC, the repair people were there in about 30 minutes and had fixed in about 15 minutes. To all those people complaining about the customer service here and quality, sorry but you are full of it...move to Chicago and use Xfinity, you will have over 900 calls to customer service in a year and 500 service visits where Xfinity cannot fix the issue of their internet. ATMC internet service is terrible. Constant dropouts, and when it is "working", we can't even stream a show without it stuttering, and that's with only that one device active in the house. And we have the 300 Gbps plan! With the AppleTV less than 10 feet from the modem/router! Garbage service, but no other options are available in our area. I don't understand why ISP service area monopolies are allowed to exist. read more

This is not a good review. For several months I have been contacting ATMC about poor internet speeds and "dropped" connections. The issue remains. I have called in dozens (maybe even a gross) of times. Yet I have no other choice as no other provider services my house. If I could jump ship I would. read more

Do not allow ATMC to auto withdrawal your account. I was due a refund after turning in my equipment and later received the refund check for $21. Weeks later, I received a bill from ATMC for $75. Sent a letter asking for an explanation for this billing. ATMC charge my checking account without notifying me. Do not give ATMC your account info!!! Their billing department can't get anything straight. Just get satellite TV. Better and far cheaper than ATMC read more

so they are running new lines down our road. there are six houses on the road coming in and not many on ours but they informed me today that they are stopping within 800ft of our house? why if they are the rural internet provider would they do that? there are only a few more houses why would they not continu? I heard they hit a water main in one of the closest towns maybe the expense of that makes no sense!! read more

These guys are the worst. They set up two accounts at my home, office. They sold this plan to me like this... Which was not necessary. I was billed over $450.00 dollars a month instead of that. On top of that they left a role of cable at my property - that has been here for 10 months. This is ridiculous. read more

We have used ATMC in North Brunswick and have never had a major issue. And all small issues were resolved without much effort. Neighbors with other providers are frequently complaining about glitches or outages, but not us. They are not the cheapest, but they do stand up when coming to t be service we've had. Would rate higher except for cost. read more

It took over a week to get my internet service running properly I then called them to credit my account for the days without service 36 minutes on phone front billing to tec support to repair and back to customer service and then she said I have to talk with my supervisor WOW what a run around for over half hour of my life for only 6mg of internet that's just one step up from dial up., WHAT A JOKE read more

I've had the displeasure of disconnecting my DirecTv and having ATMC installed in my home. In the 7 months that I've had it, I've contacted them at least 7 times with issues. The last time they told me they wouldn't swap my boxes out even though it had an error code. Well, here I am again tonight with NO cable and crappy internet service. $200 per month (without any premium channels) and have more down time than anything. If ATMC doesn't bring me some new equipment then they can come remove this worthless electronics from my house and I'll go back to satellite!!!!! read more

One day a professional cable company will buy them out and it can't come too soon. I've experienced multiple no shows for services/repairs and copious I'm sorrys, I don't know excuses from ppl I call trying to find someone/anyone who will take accountability and don't even try leaving a message, they won't return it. In short, they don't care. So my advice is always note day and time you call, get your repair tix number, everyone's name, and as much detail as you can get (how many calls are ahead of you) because you'll need it when you have to track them down...they'll deny it till you tell them. Atmc is the worst!!! I live in Bolivia and this was the only option to us besides satellite, I guess I should have gone with satellite. The internet does not allow for more than one connection at a time, if my daughter is using her computer than no one else can and that's only when the internet actually works which is almost never. It goes out at least three times a day. I am constantly resetting the modem and we have already switched it out twice. Do yourself a favor and just go with satellite! read more

I moved here from Minnesota, where we had DirecTV (and loved it). I braced myself for the disappointment I expected with some local cable company here in Brunswick County. I was extremely surprised to discover faster internet (fiber optic wired), considerably more HD TV stations, and customer service that was quicker and effective. We get TV on 2 outlets for the same price, added a 3rd last year for just $5/mo. The installation went smoothly, the equipment so far seems bulletproof, and they actually resolve any problem right away. Yes, their internet pricing is high, but so is all internet pricing in the US. read more

As ATMC is the only internet available in my area, we were forced to get it. Its almost better to be without it, to be honest. we lose our Wi-Fi every other Friday night, without fail , and nothing is done about it until Monday afternoon AT THE EARLIEST. Even then its only fixed after about 5 phone calls, customer service speaking to me like I'm an idiot who knows nothing about how computers work, and many many hours of waiting for someone to show up, only to have them realize they can fix it remotely. In addition to the outages every other weekend, I lose Wi-Fi every night between 6 pm and midnight. EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. theres absolutely no reason I should be paying as much as I am for such poor quality service. I wish there was another company, because I would switch in an instant. read more

This is the worst internet service I have ever had. It is extremely slow if it even works at all. I would say at least 50 to 60% of the time I am getting an error that my connection has been disrupted or the page just won't load at all and I get an error message. I get faster service by hotspotting my cell phone. I will most likely end up canceling and going without internet service until Spectrum can be available in my area. Unfortunately I don't have 30 to 40 minutes to call in to troubleshoot every time I internet is not working. I definitely do not recommend. Save yourself the headache and get a data plan through Verizon. read more

I come from the north and I hate being called a Yankee but I guess I am. I have been very pleased with ATMC I work from home and upgraded my ATMC internet speed. Its faster than at work but you have to pay for it. The services are much better than the provider I had up north and the people are a lot nicer. ATMC installed a signal expansion nest so we are now getting a strong signal throughout the house. I had an equipment problem on a Sunday night and they were here first thing Monday morning and got us back on line. As far as prices they are high but they are for all cable providers across the country, if you think ATMC is high you should check out the prices up north or out west. read more

Don't look for any sympathy from this company if you are late on your bill. That's even when you call twice the day before and leave a message about it (which they did confirm I did In fact leave, because they checked their messages after They put me on hold for 5 minutes to check)They shut my Fiances and my phones off and she was expecting VERY important calls that next three days especially potential job oportunities, so that a customer of three years could pay them thier all mighty dollar on time in the future. The manager Joyce I was finally put through to turned out to be nasty and treated me like a degenerate crack head. I never felt like that in my life. Maybe she was having a bad day, but as the leading manager in the whole company as she claimed she was should have been more professional. I eventually got her to put me through to the CFO's line in which I left a message groveling to please turn our phones on for a couple days longer as it would of been paid. Apparently it was too much effort for even him to humor himself and call a lowly customer and maybe push that single button to turn our phones back on. Apparently their heads have gotten too big and think they are a Fortune 500 company and don't need or have the time or patience to help the people that pay their salaries. Ill be sure to try to persuade many family members and friends in the area to make the switch. read more

Ok, so the internet pricing is a bit high for me, but I have nothing but good experience with the customer service reps at the Shallotte office. I have been with ATMC since moving here 20 years ago. Yeah, I had to have my mom and dad's help(they put my account in their name to save me the large fee-I was a single mom at the time), but I always paid on time and over the years had my service changed- home phone, no home phone, cable, no cable) according to my pocketbook. Not once did anyone give me any grief over these changes and most of the time completely understood. I was helped with a smile, a Thank You, and went away feeling pleased. The latest was a lovely woman named Rebecca. I mention her especially because she went above and beyond in her quest to help me. Many times we talked to each others voicemail, but she never gave up on me and eventually we were both satisfied with the outcome. THANKS SO MUCH REBECCA!!!!
