The service technician they dispatched to install a brand new system argued with me every step of the way, but didn't offer alternate solutions for things he deemed couldn't be done. He placed several sensors in locations where he thought best as opposed to where I need them because "it can't be done", without consulting with me. To boot, it has now taken me about half an hour to speak to a live rep, with lots of hold time in between. And the last one spoke English, but not very well. This company uses predatory & dishonest tactics to trick elderly people into buying their products & services. My late father was sold a security system that he did not need or understand how to use. The door to door sales associate talked my dad into financing $3,500 worth of low quality security equipment through Citizen Bank as well as a monthly service fee. After my fathers death I was told the equipment was "charged off" & I didn't need to continue paying on the account. A year later during the probate process I find out that there is a collection agency (Phillips & Cohen) trying to collect for the equipment. The product itself seems 'best-in-class' or close to it. The customer support team and experience is an unmitigated disaster. They appear to outsource their support team to The Philippines or someplace like that. They are as courteous as they are clueless. Even a drill and a 9-pound hammer will not get through to them. There's nothing one can say to get anything but the simplest messages or issues through to them and understood. There currently seems to be a security problem with the company. I'm guessing they have been hacked, and their customer data has been distributed/sold to scammers (presumably on the Dark Web, if that still exists). I get scores of phone calls and now emails about late payments to my Vivint Account. I have an automatic payment so there should be no issues. The emails I receive have two glaring problems. 1) the abbreviated account number is incorrect. This makes it pretty clear this is a scam email. 2) the two links on the email are to the following dns domain: spmailtechno.com. This domain is owned by a company called MessageBird USA Inc which is in Maryland, USA. Here is a link with background information on this company: https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/1396628D:US. I called Vivint 5-6 times today to inform them about this security problem. No one at the company has the professional wherewithal to take ownership of this issue and/or escalate the issue to someone who has authority over such things. This is potentially an existential threat to their business, and all I get from the "support team" is the equivalent of "Do you want fries with that?". To say I'm frustrated is the understatement of the century. I will keep the service for now as there is no one else who offers a superior service. 14-day trial scam - beware I bought a house that already had a Vivint security system installed. I was hesitant about activation, since I never heard of the company. The salesperson offered me a 14 day free trial, so I signed up. On the fist day I noticed my credit card was charged - strike one I was walked through setup over text message - strike two (remember I had no previous knowledge or context of this company and I am supposed to fully understand the system after 5 text messages) I tried calling customer service and was transferred 7 times - strike 3 Thus I cancelled the service after 1 day. read more

Poor Business practices. You are an alarm company that cannot guarantee its services or its equipment. You and your sales salespeople practice unethical means to get contracts signed and never follow up as they said they would. You can never get customer support long wait times and if you do it is over sea's when you request to speak with someone in the US it doesn't happen though Vivint is based out of Utah. Have complaints especially when it deals with my safety. You are an alarm service you cannot reach when the equipment is not working or any other reason very reassuring to me. You buy an alarm to know your house and family are safe, well think again. Not with the Vivant alarm system or its support team working. I have spent over six hours on the phone not getting anything done. No one could answer a question to get me to help most of my conversation was with the Philippines, yet a Utah-based company how American. Vivint somehow keep me getting worse. their website is terrible, crashes constantly, so today i needed to call to update my credit card number (website didn't work for the update). they would not let me do this over the phone, said they needed to call me back with 2 mins. they never called. my door locks still don't communicate with the system, and the tech team still hasn't called me back. such a waste of time, energy, and money ...And now they want me to go online to their unsecured chat to provide my credit card information. I had this system for about a year my husband passed away, I had to sell the house. Moved to an apt. In November. I have been trying to end this service since November. Supposedly taken care of twice. They are still billing me, and the police are on their way to my old address as we speak and I will be charged for it. When you call to talk to them they put you on hold until you are disconnected. This has been going on since November. This company sucks. Go with brinks or someone else. I have multiple systems in multiple properties and it seems like I am always having one issue or another that have to be fixed "at the panel" which means I am driving from one property to another to unplug things or taking the batteries out and putting them back in. buyer beware read this before signing up for vivant! i got vivint service 1.5 years ago and financed the equipment. im selling my house and was told it's $99 to transfer to the new owners, i just have to pay off the balance. cool. paid off the balance and called to complete the transfer. then i was told since it was financed i can never transfer service (how does that even make sense) i have to pay every remaining month of my contract ($1800) and a $300 cancellation fee. are they out if their minds?! they agreed to cut it by 1/2. this company is a predator plain and simple... also the one time i needed them their system did not save a recording of someone backing in my house. now i cant go after the person who caused the damage To reply to your comment. Can I give a zero? Had the system 1 1/2 years. Problems started the first week. Thermostats have been replaced 4 times. Cameras have gone offline a couple of times, and having to get a tech out this week. Equipment is cheap and shoddy. Online/call-in support is 100% worthless -- people reading from screens. The home techs are actually pretty good. Oh -- one of the techs told me they not only recycle refurbished equipment (which they pass as new), they are told to use those first. Vivint is overpriced for the service it provides. Everything is DYI and if I wanted that type of security system, I would perhaps been better off with RING. The customer service is absolutely not very good and it seems if most of the reps don't really know what they are doing. I have had this system in my home for approximately 4 years and even the install was done wrong. They had to move the panel and only put some putty in the hole that was left. I have had the panel replaced as well as sensors not work. Then, the rep would ask me if the sensors were part of a prior system and if so then they were not covered under the warranty. I responded Vivint did the install and if they failed to change existing sensors, I am not going to be responsible for their negligence. If you need a technician, you are charged extra for that, even though the service is already expensive. This company's model needs to be put on the same level as any DYI model and priced accordingly. I have had issues from almost the first day I had this system and I will not recommend it. Perhaps Vivint needs to reevaluate its entire company and make some serious changes. read more

I cannot believe they would do that for a simple installation. They are totally invasive and called him again today after I had cancelled the installation and severed all contact with them. Had the system installed in December. The cameras and doorbell lose connection every day. Technicians have been out 5 times in the past 5 weeks and can't get the cameras to work. The product has so many issues and once you're stuck in a contract, no one at the company wants to help, the hold times are long, and after 10+ calls of over an hour each time, nothing has been handled. When I asked the customer relations department how to cancel this contract, they told me that I could look into getting a lawyer without any sort of offer for resolution on their side. This experience has been utterly terrible. I have been trying to schedule this appointment for a month and have had appointments randomly rescheduled without me being notified, I've had to wait on the phone to talk to someone about the appointment multiple times for over and hour or two each time with no resolution. First I had to wait two months to even be able to schedule an appointment after moving from my previous house due to some random requirement when moving service and installing new equipment. I was praying everyday that nothing happened to my house while I had to wait. I originally had an appointment scheduled on 6/16 that was rescheduled the day before (on 6/15) to July 29th without any communication to me. I called and talked to three different specialists where I had to wait for at least an hour each time and then at the end was told I was going to get a call back each time and was never called back so had to call back myself and rehash the situation over again each time. Then when I was told the technician on the 16th just left the company and that was why I was rescheduled I finally had to demand it get rescheduled (again after waiting an hour or so in the line) as soon as possible so I can keep my elderly mother safe who has to be at home often alone. Then the appointment was rescheduled to 6/23. I received a text on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd saying that the appointment was going to be on the 23rd between 8am and 12pm. On the morning of 6/23 I got a call also confirming but the girl said what she saw was that it had got re-moved back to July 29th (again with no notification to me) and then she had to check and call me back. After 2 hours again with no call I called again and was told that the appointment was scheduled for the 23rd from noon to 4pm. At 3pm I still had not heard from anyone and so I called again and was again told that it was confirmed for 6/23 from noon to 4. At 4:30 with still no contact from anyone I called back again and was on the phone for over an hour and a half where the person kept trying to get connected with the scheduling department and was ultimately told that no one could get in contact with the tech nor their manager so the appointment was not going to happen on the 23rd and the soonest date was in august. I feel like this whole process was an insulting waste of time, I've tried to be very patient this whole time with horrendous communication. (if there was any communication at all). I do not feel valued as a customer at all and I have been a loyal customer for the past 3.5 years. I literally want to have nothing to do with Vivint anymore. My trust is totally lost and I'm sure I will get no response from this complaint or any other complaint I make. I hope that no other customer has to go through even a fraction of what I have had to go through. read more

So I downloaded Yelp just for this so I hope it translates how furious I am with Vivant. Although judging by these absolutely terrible reviews, it's obvious they don't care and this will go unnoticed. So here's my short and sweet. I had a perfectly good working alarm system, bought out by brinks. I decided to go to Vivant because brinks has raised my bill about 3 dollars every 6 months adding to around 20 dollars more expensive than my original contract, which doesn't apply to brinks apparently because my contract is not with them. So I call Vivant, I explain my system, tell the floor sales manager Levi, I need my garage openers to work with the app and my auxillary panel to still work. They both currently work with brinks, I just asked if his system could run my auxillary panel and my garage openers. He says YES. So I set up the appointment. Pay for the new panel up front to avoid the contract which is something else he lied about, he said under 500$ you don't need a contract, I said great! When they called to confirm my appt they said I needed to be there to sign the contract. Had to pay the unit full price to avoid that 320$ , no big deal. So I wasn't home during the install but when all was said and done tech tells us the new panel won't work with the openers or the auxillary key pad. And leaves! I called to cancel Vivant based on them lying to me and get transferred a bunch of times to end up talking to the cancel department. I tell them the situation, he says: they will send tech back out to pull out keypad but will not reinstall the old one to put everything back to normal. I need to call brinks to do this. So I'm literally going to be without an alarm now, down a couple hundred dollars to get a brinks tech out there to reinstall his panel. So instead of them making it right by providing the compatible equipment, or back to the way I had it, the guy with Vivant literally said it's my problem. So to clarify, if I promise a customer something, or a tenant, or any of my clients something and I don't deliver, I make it right, if I make their situation worse accidentally, I make it right. If Vivant promises you something, and it is impossible, they will literally leave a hole in your wall where a good panel used to be and tell you it's your problem. I've honestly never been so offended by anything this much in my life. They are going to leave a hole in my wall. For trying to switch to them. And not be able to fulfill any of the promises they made to get me to switch over. And tell me it's my problem. It is costing me money, to return something. Think of it that way. To get brinks back to fix it will cost me money. To return something that didn't work. I explained this logic to the employee on the phone. He said sorry, but that's not his problem. Follow up: Vivint wrote under this that my problem has been resolved on another platform. It hasn't, that's a lie. I had to cancel. Write a letter, then they gave me a hard time cause it was my last day to cancel (which is 3 days) then I have to wait 11 days for them to review my cancellation. Then they will come out, pull my key pad. Still leaving a hole in my wall. And then after a few days they will refund my money. And also, they charged me an extra 70 dollars that was never discussed that I still have no idea what it is for. So they can say all they want, issue is not resolved. I'm still screwed and will be out money when this is all over.. and when you cancel they'll try to convince you to buy all this extra stuff to make it work, I was told that I can buy new garage door motors and pay someone to put those in so it would work.. hilarious... Or she said I really don't need that I can put in some kind of auto dead bolt, and then they can open the garage. Like I accidently have it set up the way I do now and don't know what I want, thanks for the insult. So keep that in mind when you try to cancel. And she said that they installed some sensors that we never even discussed even once like a monitored smoke detector and glass break sensor.. I'm guessing the panel has the glass break built in and they tapped into my existing smoke detectors. Either way it adds to my distrust because of the different possibilities of what's going on there. I'm exhausted over this whole thing and would absolutely not recommend them, but I don't have a clue at this point who is better so good luck. read more

If any of you are approached by Vivant for a home alarm system do not....I repeat...DO NOT buy into anything they are telling you. We experienced a classic bait and switch by this company. Long story short we were promised equipment at no charge both initially and after our move. I have now learned they will not stand by thier word. This was the entire basis behind our agreement because we knew a move was in the near future. The salesman emphasized how much value a security system would add to our home when it sold! Being that it was in the home when it was under contract we had no way of removing the equipment since it was part of the home at that time. There was nothing different we could have done in our situation. It was also very difficult to get all of our original equipment installed and they had to keep coming back because they never seemed to have what they needed for the job. So now we are stuck either paying $1700 to break our contract or purchase the new equipment for our home AND the $79.99 montly monitoring fee (which is OUTRAGEOUSLY high) for the next 21 months. Completely and utterly ridiculous. This company is deceptive and overpriced. I posted the above to thier company facebook page to only have it deleted and have them block me from posting again. I am disappointed with Vivint. I've been a longtime customer on basic monitoring services and decided to have outdoor camera installed. While the cameras work most of the time and I get notification, I do not see it on my iPhone instantly. There's a lag time. Sometimes the Activities button from my iPhone does not show the correct time until much later. I've spent an hour with Vivint trying to correct this yet it still does not work. I got tired standing in front of my panel as the tech was giving me instructions thru the phone. If a tech would come to correct their own system's error, they'll charge you a fee. At this point I have nothing good to say about this company's ability to provide good outdoor camera system that truly works. For basic home alarm system, their system works (5 stars) but not the cameras (1 star), hence I gave them a generous 3 star rating. Totally disappointed with them!!!! One camera has been malfunctioning, yet Vivint kept trying to correct. Common sense dictates that something is wrong with the camera but Vivint can't seem to sense that or they are Just too cheap to replace it. It's the end of the year and I'm tired of playing their games. I look forward to saying 'goodbye' to this stubbornly inefficient company who charges a fee for their tech to go to your house to perform their responsibility of insuring that their system works! read more

Two words. Buyers Remorse. I'm only giving two stars because the alarm works. Cameras are slow, sensors trigger intermittently, and virtually no customer service access once you've bought the system (Vivint, at least do hold music instead of Mr Vivint Customer Service guy asking me to refer a friend...seriously?). Oh yeah, and after the special promotional 60 days, you have to pay a fee for a tech to fix their own product. Interesting, if you dial the inside sales department, no holding! Vivint, Inc. door to door sales person was totally dishonest with me. Watch out for the word "free". Nothing is " free ". System works well, but a $50 per month monitoring fee is excessive and a "killer" with a lock of a 42 month contract. I just paid $2,100 for a "free" system. DON'T SIGN A CONTRACT WITH VIVINT! I used to be a loyal customer with Vivint for many years, so when my step father moved out due to health issues, I continued with them. In December 2015 I called them to remove his name from the account. The customer service rep escalated the issue because she didn't know how to do that. The person who got on the phone informed me that the only way to take his name off was to sign a new contract with me only. Makes sense right? So they set up an appt, got the 5 yr contract signed in January 2016. Since then, over half of the contract period has elapsed and I've repeatedly called to have the name fixed on the account that was not resolved by signing a new contract!! Each time I'm assured it's done only to find out that nothing was changed. Finally called again today and asked them how to get out of the contract because I'm NOT paying a termination fee when they mismanaged my account and gave me false information. Again it was escalated. Guess what? Come to find out all I needed to do was email a doctor's note to their AR dept and request to have my step father's name removed from the account. They said the medical reason qualifies as an "exception". In other words, I DID NOT have to sign another contract and was given false information. Root cause for the poor customer service? They don't know their own policies and procedures. Even their "escalation" team isn't adequately trained as this option was not provided to me nearly 3 years ago and it took multiple calls over the past 2 1/2 YEARS to resolve an issue that had a easy solution. I actually had to get angry before I was given correct information! So what's next? My husband and I will be considering our options including TERMINATION of the Vivint contract and going with an alternate security solution. By the way, don't bother apologizing, Vivint, like you have with all your other bad reviews. Instead, FIX your customer service issues. That's the foundation for customer loyalty and you're bad at it. read more

So I just bought my first house an called vivint for an install. I was happy to get home security. They were so nice at first. Then when I found out my cameras were not working they sent a tech. Then I called again an they only offered me 25 dollars off for one month. They also said they would be working on the issue. Some time goes by and a vivint rep comes by an ask us how we liked everything. Told him my cameras suck and have never worked. They don't even record to the panel and it's only a foot away. He said this is not how it's suppose to work. Vivint will take care of you. So I called them ONE more time. To shorten the story. They pretty much said there was nothing they could do over the phone that I would have to pay for someone to come. When their $HIT never worked. Just incredibly how quick they are to take your money. Vivint security is NO GOOD. ADT is better, I thought I switch to Vivint is a good idea. I was wrong, they set up my first appointment to install the service, they did not show up, they do not have enough technician to do the job, the one supposed to be there, he called in that he had a family problem. I was upset and frustrate because I do not have time to wait for them since they already set up my appointment almost 2 months, they wait til the last week to call me that they have an issue. Now, I want them to send me the motion camera, they said, I called in and set up an appointment with them on Friday, sometime in May. They did not show up. So, my friend called in and told them that he will be free on Monday, they said they will set up Monday 6/24, the appointment was set up in May. Now, I just receive a call from them, that they could not make it, the technician supposed to be there, his wife has a baby. Is anyone tell me what kind of services do they have. The appointment setter did not communicate with installer and they do not understand what customer wanted. Even the manager and specialist, they told me that customers are their top priority. But when I did set up the appointment, they change before the week of the appointment. They just set up the time, then when the time come, they called in that technician is not available.
