I gave Russ a call after deciding to upgrade my existing home alarm system, and I couldn't be happier with the process and results. Russ came to my house, took a look at my setup, and made a few reasonable upgrade recommendations...all at no charge to me. He didn't "push" anything on me, just gave me the facts, briefly mentioned his Blockwatch service, and let me decide how I wanted to proceed. He actually dissuaded me from spending more money on upgrading my panel unit or adding sensors he deemed unnecessary...fine with me! I was so happy with Russ's inspection and advice that I paid him to come out and install a new keypad and a half dozen new sensors. Some of these were the tiny Micra window sensors he sells on his site (alarmprofessor.com), all of which turned out perfectly. Russ, Travis and Tom were awesome. Their no BS approach to alarm security really won me over to call them and they were the first/only company I felt comfortable moving forward with. I called Rev Associates to schedule a consultation for my home. Russ arrived promptly at my home for the scheduled consultation. He's a very personable guy with nearly 50 years in the business. I trust his expertise and he didn't try to add any fluff to items he felt the house needed. I received an email from him that same afternoon and decided to proceed with the install. Tom arrived to perform the install and was on time as well. However I was delayed 5 minutes due to me leaving my office a little later than expected. Tom walked over the house with me to confirm what he was installing. He was very careful in his work and had plastic laid out to catch any debris that may fall while drilling and tapping. He also walked around with shoe coverings and vacuum to pick up whatever else he may have missed the first time. It was refreshing to see such care and consideration for my home. The install itself took a tad over 2.5 hours. Everything was tested and works perfectly. Last, but not least. Travis installed our camera system and motion lights. Great guy who set up all of our systems and even helped trouble shoot their in-house app that was finicky at first with my Google Pixel XL. They were quick with a workaround which I suspect they'll probably be encountering more customers with Pixels as the phone gains popularity. So it's definitely a good thing this was caught early on. I cannot give a more glowing recommendation about a company. Everyone we dealt with was an absolute pleasure. I found Russ when seeking repair on my old ITI SX-V alarm system's keypad. I wasn't ready to upgrade my entire system due to a broken keypad, but the system is so old that most providers surely would tell me I need a new one. Russ found the keypad I needed, programmed it to work with my system and even reset a sensor that had dropped from the system. I love repairing rather than replacing and Russ exceeded all my expectations. He even left me with an older broken keypad that I later disassembled. I discovered the internal keys on the keypad are common to a number of newer systems, so I bought a new keypad on eBay for $10 even though it isn't compatible with mine and used the internal keys to repair my original keypad. So now I have a working spare. Russ also recommended some systems to look at when I asked what he thought of another. I highly recommend Russ - he listens to and works with the customer to give them what they want. I will definitely go to Russ when I need any future alarm system installations and/or repairs. read more

Believe the hype!! I had an old alarm system I was interesting in repairing/testing/upgrading. Another company took one look and said it was junk and I needed to replace everything with their overpriced selected models and then lock me into a 3 year contract. Russ came out the same day I called, replaced a battery, fixed a loose wire and presto the system was back. Instead of having to replace everything now all I need is an inexpensive cellular communicator to bring my system (which previously operated on land line/telephone) up to date. Great experience. Very FEW companies meet my full expectations... and it 's so rare for anyone to exceed them. So, I'm using my own time to reward Blockwatch Alarm / (aka REV Associates) for being one of the few, rare companies that did! After researching the alarm industry, services offered, price-shopping, and comparing many companies, it was up to Blockwatch to win my business with their product, customer service and price. After the first phone conversation, I'd already learned new, valuable and detailed insight about options that were completely unexpected and exactly what we needed. (Russ really knows his stuff! He shared his experience with a new high-tech but affordable gadget that we didn't even know existed. By the way, it wasn't an up-sale like you'd expect; not even part of the services they offered. We purchased that add'l product from an Electronic store because it was perfect for us.) Back to the point, it felt incredibly reassuring that someone so knowledgeable answered the phone on my first call! (NONE of that automated recording crap and then routed outside of the U.S.!) So, I took a few days to research what he'd shared, did further comparisons, and decided to call Russ back. And, even though our house is in a remote area (required over an hour's travel time), Russ agreed to come over. As I recall, the appt. was scheduled within about 72 hours. Timely response / lead time: check! He showed up promptly as scheduled. (I didn't have to allow the typical 3-4 hour window for a service call. Amazing, right?) Though dressed in work attire, he was clean and professional. (No mud on his work boots to track through my new house, ya' know?) He was courteous, and quite expedient with the technical portion of the job. And, he had an inventory of parts with him which came in handy for some unexpected things during the installation. When he finished the technical work, he showed my husband and I how the system worked, explained what to expect and had each of us practice using the alarm ourselves while he observed. I should also mention that this company has a unique business approach that I think is really SMART! A few days later we had a question. Again, Russ was great and helped us over the phone. The next month we were away traveling, (part of the reason for wanting the alarm) and then my husband ended up very sick. He was hospitalized for 3 weeks. So, I was unable to provide the signed document and Emergency Contact List back to the company like I should have. (I really think most other companies would've gotten nasty.) But, I asked for patience and they were so understanding. No late fees, nothing! Our installation and service activation was over 3 months ago... Since then, the system has worked exactly as described and the functionality is really cool! Bottom line: This company provides the experienced, excellent service, value and personal touch that I haven't seen in a decade, seriously. And, I'm a frugal shopper... they also provided the best price I could find. Blockwatch Alarm truly earned this review. Personally, I believe they deserve the opportunity to earn your business, too. After doing some research on Yelp and other places I found Russ VanDevanter to be highly recommended when it came to home alarm systems. I knew that I wanted a an old school hard wired system and a specific brand of alarm panel that was compatible with some other equipment I had. We arranged an appointment for Russ to visit my new home in Puyallup, WA to see exactly what we needed. I personally had installed three alarm systems in my younger years and never trusted battery type sensors but Russ convinced me that they have come a long ways over the years and would last several years between battery changes. He also said you would get a warning when a sensor battery was needed. We ended up just hard wiring the keypads and siren that had a shorter battery life. I found Russ to be extremely knowledgeable and not trying to sell you something that was not really needed. When my house alarm system panels started to have sticky keys, I couldn't find replacements on-line ... it seemed they were too out-dated. I went to Bulger Locks, who referred me to Russ VanDevanter. Russ told me he had some of these panels in his storage. They weren't new, but they worked perfectly, and best of all, they were free. He came by very promptly, and replaced 2 of my sticky panels, and showed me how to replace my third one when I felt like I needed it, and left me with a third unit.
