Thankfully, did a little more research and came across HomeStar Security, and it was day and night difference. Talking to Mike was great - totally understood my needs, didn't press for any features or services that I didn't want, and got me scheduled for an install appointment (upgrading existing equipment) in a short timeframe. Brent - the technician who came to the house to perform the install - was on time, friendly, efficient, and helpful. Was quoted 2 hours for the install, and finished exactly within 2 hours. Brent also gave a great walkthrough on how to use the system, and was happy to answer questions that my wife and I had. If you're considering ADT, work with these guys! Thanks so much!

The system got installed the second day after they came, and everything worked precisely and accurately. The package comes with a motion sensor, but I already have one from my old system, so they give me an extra key fob with no charge instead of the sensor. It was very nice. They also put an ADT secured sign outside my house to increase the security level more. They called me after installation, making sure everything is okay. I have some troubles using ADT pulse (the iOS app for controlling the system), and they stayed on the line helping me trouble shooting and fixed the issue. Also, got quick enough replies when I ask them questions via text msg. Very nice product and even nicer service. 5*.

Wade, the owner of the company, responded quickly. He is very professional and runs a very honest business. He scheduled a time to come and take a look at the issue. Meanwhile, asked me to take photos of the control panel errors, motion detector model number, etc. and send him prior to his visit. Shortly after he replied back with a quick suggestion and asked me to try them. During this experience, he followed up with me a couple of times via text to see if I need help. We did a face time and he easily walked me through the control panel to troubleshoot and suggested a couple of changes that I took care of myself. My security system is now fixed. Russ came to my house, took a look at my setup, and made a few reasonable upgrade recommendations...all at no charge to me. He didn't "push" anything on me, just gave me the facts, briefly mentioned his Blockwatch service, and let me decide how I wanted to proceed. He actually dissuaded me from spending more money on upgrading my panel unit or adding sensors he deemed unnecessary...fine with me! I was so happy with Russ's inspection and advice that I paid him to come out and install a new keypad and a half dozen new sensors. Some of these were the tiny Micra window sensors he sells on his site (alarmprofessor.com), all of which turned out perfectly. Russ told me he's been in the business for 30+ years, and let me tell you, it definitely shows. He worked very quickly, but always took time to answer my questions. When I showed an interest in learning the keypad programming, he taught me exactly how to do everything myself in the future. Russ seems like a good man and a skilled alarm technician. Shortly after contacting them, Rick came out to the house, listened to my needs and then came back with a few options. The install team of Joel and Bent arrived as scheduled and did a very professional job on the installation. We were with Northwest Security and Sound for home and small business for quite a few years. The technicians were always polite and friendly (shout out to technician Joel!). Other than billing error where they thought we owed on past bills until I sent proof of payment they were fine. Then a problem developed where the alarm would not set in our small space and NSS could not figure it out. The nature of our business is such that we absolutely cannot go without an alarm set but was told by Rick to just deactivate a zone (which would be great until someone breaks in through a door of that zone). Repeated trip charges for this same, seemingly basic problem prompted me to finally ask via email (can post if necessary) if there would be a charge to come yet again for the same problem and Rick freaked out and sent a certified letter saying they are dropping us? Seriously? That's how you treat a long time customer? And out of spite, I guess, he terminated service at our home as well. All for asking if there would be yet another trip charge for the same problem. Who wouldn't ask that question? They also couldn't figure out the cause of a repeated false alarm on a smoke detector and kept charging us for trip charges, alarm replacements, keypad replacement, and even a whole new panel and still couldn't get it resolved. Very disappointing to be treated this way. So far, so good with another local company.
