This company is a total 100% scam. at the time of purchase our sells representative Saxon told us that the installation fee of $299 was waved and that we would get a lift time warranty which is what really set them apart from ADT for us. when reviewing the paperwork we asked Saxon about what the protection plan was and he said we didn't need it and can skip over it because we had the lifetime warranty. come to find out we didn't get the $299 waved it was added to our bill and there was no such thing as a lifetime warranty. basically we got scammed and are now stuck in a 5 year contract and have to pay 5 years for equipment that only have a limited 1 year warranty on them. Honestly, go with any other security company. My panel goes offline almost every other week.. what's the point of having it if I'm constantly calling to reboot it? And it takes 10-15 minutes to reboot. Cameras are super slow to load on the app. I paid $3k for 1 camera, a doorbell cam, and 5 sensors. Totally not worth it. Wish I did more research rather than jumping the ball when I bought my house. read more

Stay clear of vivint. Sales guy is nice but wish I would have researched the main company prior. They have had multiple lawsuits against them and lots of negative reviews on top of that. We signed up and cancelled within a few days. They didn't install some of the stuff they were charging me for and their "4K" equipment was worse than our 2K Arlos. Several of the features did not work properly also. Not to mention the price of the equipment is ridiculous. We just had it uninstalled yesterday only to find out the installers fried our door bell during the install, and during the removal due to installers poor wiring, the wires began to melt the plastic on the panel inside our home. They left holes on the exterior without filling them, in our door frames, etc. I called in and told vivint about the door bell but was told since we are no longer customers they will not fix the damage they caused. Simply the WORST. They will lie, cheat and steal from you in any way that they can. And their equipment is crap. Run as fast as you can. I have been trying to cancel my contract with them for a year. Apparently that is nearly impossible to do. They will blame everything on you. After begging, pleading and practically crying on the phone to them last March to cancel my contract and sending in all of the proper paperwork, I found out today that they began charging me again in May (without consent). I have record of everything and will be taking it to court if I don't get my money back and my cancellation. We reported them to the credit card company so they can't get our money anymore. Poor Business practices. You are an alarm company that cannot guarantee its services or its equipment. You and your sales salespeople practice unethical means to get contracts signed and never follow up as they said they would. You can never get customer support long wait times and if you do it is over sea's when you request to speak with someone in the US it doesn't happen though Vivint is based out of Utah. Have complaints especially when it deals with my safety. You are an alarm service you cannot reach when the equipment is not working or any other reason very reassuring to me. I spoke with this company regarding a whole house alarm and outdoor cameras. As someone who was in home improvement sales for years, these guys were too much. I kept telling the guy on the phone that he needed to stop trying to close the sale. Just give me the numbers SINCE they didn't want to come out for an estimate in person. I was so put off by their tactics. Then he wanted me to pay over $100 to hold the price and then started with the.... What can I do today to put you into this security system. Yeah, no. I had a great service years ago and i spent the evening trying to remember the company name. Portland Security Alarm! I used these folks 20+ years ago and they were fantastic. Please do yourself a favor and stay as far away from Vivint as you possibly can. I have never felt so trapped by a company. The saga started a few years ago when the tech scratched my brand new washing machine when installing (incorrectly, might I add) the security equipment, which never worked .....ever. I was informed at the time that we could not get out of our contract until our equipment was paid off (fair enough). Finally.......after three years and over $1400 dollars in useless equipment later, I made the call to have my service discontinued. The first person I spoke to kept me on the phone for at least five minutes asking why I wanted to leave and offering me deal after deal despite my insistence that I was done. At the end, he asked if I had the confirmation number from their lender stating the equipment was paid off. I let him know that I was sent an email letting me know we were paid in full, but no confirmation number. He told me that I would need to get that number in order to proceed. After another fifteen minute hold, I was able to get in touch with the lender. The person I spoke with let me know that there was no confirmation number, but he could give a verbal okay to the Vivint rep. I had to wait another ten minutes for this to happen. Once that was confirmed, a Vivint rep got on the line to let me know that I would receive an email to which I would need to respond in order to discontinue the service. He said that if I did not receive that within 24-48 hours , I would need to initiate an email of my own letting them know I want to end my account and why. Once that email was received, the company would take 30 days to review the account. During that time, we would be charged. It feels icky, desperate, and very dishonest. read more

Despite my numerous attempts with customer service, the continued to send the same, incompetent, unprofessional technician to my house. I was forced to pay for the service even though it did not work. I recently sold my house and opted to pay nearly $500 to get out of my contract with Vivint. $500 seemed like a relief after the mental damage dealing with this company has caused. It's been three months since I paid off my contract and gave written notice of my cancellation. However, they continue to charge me monthly for service. I know nothing about their product. Was looking into getting their Smart Home devices installed in my newly purchased home. Decided to wait on installation and cancelled the initial call. I was charge $39.99 for the initial installation and am waiting over 2 months for a refund from this company. When I call them I am transferred from one department to another. The last time I called I was told that department doesn't work on Saturday and only works M-F from 6 AM - 7 PM. Still waiting to talk to someone about that refund. Do not work with this company. They made me make a deposit before seeing a tech, fair enough, I want to pay people for their time. But the price was slightly different than I was told. And after they took the deposit they put me through to someone to see if my internet could even handle their system. Why didn't they do that before I paid? I was just getting a weird feeling about their needless lack of transparency. I would've wanted them to double check the internet bandwith, but why not before I paid? I wouldn't have minded an additional $1.48, but why didn't you tell me the whole price? So I canceled the appointment because there were enough red flags. They emailed me twice with free months of service and steep discounts, which weirded me out even more. That meant they were definitely overcharging me. I emailed the rep Leidy Escobedo back each time and said cancel the appointment and refund my card. I was texted by several reps to set up an appointment, I had to text each of them that I'd canceled the appointment and that I was awaiting a refund. I emailed Leidy for a week with no response, asking for my refund which she said should be in my account within 2-3 business days. I called in, they said a check was in the mail. I called two weeks later, they said they didn't have my full name, so they'll send another check. I called two weeks later, Liam Roberts said he was refunding my card on 04.03 and it would be there in 5-7 business days. 7 business days later, no refund. I called in again, they said a check was sent on 04.04 and I have to wait for it. It's been 48 days since I cancelled that transaction. Do not work with this company. read more

Do I even have to give them one star??? Seriously, they are the WORST company EVER!!! Almost 6 years ago I signed a contract with them and for a year everything was fine. But then we moved and used our free move certificate. The tech came out in October and didn't have the right cameras so couldn't do that. Then while trying to install the thermostat he broke something so our heater wouldn't work, in late October so it was freezing for several days. Had a repairman fix it and cost almost $100. The tech came out again, but still didn't have the correct cameras. Finally on 3rd trip had correct cameras. BUT he couldn't get them working, and they never have been. Our keypad shorts the batteries constantly so we really don't use it in case it won't work while trying to get in and we are locked out. Our security system is worse that using a simple key. We asked them to lower our rate for the thermostat that we couldn't have and they said it was approximate $10 less per month. Both my husband and I spent hours on each phone call trying to convince them to make the rate change but no one could do it. Not sure why it was so difficult. It has been 5 years since that move. No cameras, no key pad and ability to lock our doors and no thermostat, yet we are paying for all of that. They have promised credits on our account, but do actually think they would deliver? Don't count on it. We tried cancelling our service over a year ago but they won't stop charging our card. Now our card has expired and they expect we are willing to pay them an extra $200 on top of what we have already been overpaying for the last 5 years. Not on your life!!! I bought my home 5 years ago with an apx system installed today my smoke detector started beeping so I call apx and after 45 minutes with Andy he told me that he had spoke to his supervisor taylor story and the only thing they could tell me was they don't own those boxes anymore and because I was not a current customer the only thing they could tell me was to unplug the power source the box might beep for a couple days but then everything should shut down. Andy suggested that I contact an electrician and have them remove the system at my cost. I cannot believe that Apxalarms will not stand by their product because they sold all the Apx boxes. So I have a beeping smoke detector no way to turn it off and when I try to check the batteries the Box on the wall starts going crazy I do not believe that I should be responsible for removing this product that I did not install nor pay for. I believe that if they believed in good customer service they would have come out and figure it out how to stop the smoke detector from beeping and show me how to care for it in the future. Pro - The actually security system in itself is very good and user friendly. Con - The Company. I first used Vivint in 2012 and was very pleased with all services provided. Then I deployed to Afghanistan for a year and all the while was fighting the company to stop charging me for a service that I did not have. I eventually did a stop payment with my bank to end their collection. Being forgiving, I contacted them when I returned home to have the system re-installed. Once again, all was well. Fast forward, I left the Army to return to school and moved from FT Campbell to OR. A year has passed and I still have not had the system installed even though I spoke with a representative every 3-6 months. I actually just had to pay out the remainder of my "contract" to completely terminate services. By the way, while I was without services for the year awaiting installation, I was charged for service in the months of: September, November (billed twice), December, May, June, July, and August. read more

I have spent nearly 12 hours on the phone with different reps that all promise to take care of my problem and no one follows through. They messed up my online access by combining it with the old owner. They send me overdue notices even though the bill wasn't due and accidentally billed the old owner $1,500.00 even though he was paid in full. My email is attached to his old account and IT hasn't been able to remove that in three months... are you kidding me ! We someone there promises to handle it and call you back don't believe them.. I've had three do that and no one has followed through. Ive had five people say "I'll submit a ticket to IT" and it's still not fixed. The only reason I just got a bill was because I begged them to email it to me and when they did it had not return address so I had to call back for that ! I have been a customer of vivint for over two years now. There services, on the surface, seem good and for the most part worked for a time. Recently we have had software issues which require a tech and have left our home without security now for over a month and will be at least another month until one can arrive. We asked to be relieved of our contract and have been denied. This is not a security company and there customer service voices we can get to beat the corporate mantra to an extent that I feel sorry for them (sheep as they follow one another over the cliff). If there where a no star rating that is what I would have given them. There is nothing worse than an unreliable security company. My guess is they are going out of business and so have no concern for current paying customers.
