I am happy to have cameras installed and to have the peace of mind of an alarm system; however, my experience with Vivint, especially their installation team and to some extent the service department. When I signed up with Vivint, the salesman said there was a special promotion that included a discount if the installation was completed that day. The installer came that night and was there till after 11pm installing my panel--so my young son and I were alone with this stranger after 11 pm! He was unprofessional (complaining about his boss), he borrowed my drill because he didn't have the right tools and then took it with him when he left(!), and he did such an ugly job with the installation. I'm also pretty sure he filled out the customer evaluation himself and didn't give me a chance to. When I called the company to fix these problems--albeit after the 120 days allowed for customers to complain--they charged me a $99 service fee, offering me only a $15 credit to my account for my inconvenience. I think the company has good products but they butchered this installation job and didn't make up for it when they could have. They are offering $300 if I refer them to other customers, but I will not be taking them up on that offer because I do not recommend them. read more

If you are searching for an alarm company; do yourself a favor and skip them. They have the absolute worse service. If your alarm is down they will leave you unprotected for at least a week. You can never have a technician out in one day. They sell you the stars and the moon but they are horrible. With my previous company I never had an issue. Since I installed Vivint I have a problem just about every other month. If they knock on your door, don't open it. Trust me you will be sorry. Even if they offer you the world JUST SAY NO!!I can't wait til my contract expires so I can dump them. Trust me they don't even deserve the one star, I would rather give negative 5 stars. read more

This is about Vivint First of all, my wife 77 years old and I 79 years old should have known better about signing a contract with Vivint and trusting with what we were signing by a 20-year-old salesman. In the past we have refused to sign a contact with digital signing by a salesman. Now we all have no choice. We get to the printout after the signing and it can have many mistakes and we are screwed. Now in my experience with the Vivint sales person (I what to be pollical correct) His first pitch was "free Installation" in the end we were charge $199.00. Also, the Vivint thermoset was not installed because they say only an HVAC certified installer can do it. Its only two or four screws and the wires from your original. What the s said "our security system installed for free" We first took it as we had a model home and everything was free and if we put their sign up in front of our hose, we would only pay for a monthly charge of about 15.00 for monitoring thermostat. This they say is Connecticut Law. Not sure if it is true or false (is this true). So right now, it is on my kitchen table waiting for Vivint to get this installed. What you end up with is two different contacts. One with Vivint and one with a loan company. The loan Company contact says we owe $199.00 for installation. What seemed to be because our home was so beautiful (we have lived in since 1976 and the longest owners of a home on our street in Windsor. Now in Windsor about two weeks a sub contracted company by Vivint, which this sales person and installers are roaming my neighborhood the out of Florida and stay at a hotel/motel in Hartford Ct. The00 next day I saw the salesman on a stre0000.......................et next to me at the front door of a foreclosed home that has padded sides. I wonder this fitted in to "my model Home" that they wanted to give me free stuff especially install. In the end the security l package was $3450.00 to plus $39.00 a month monitoring. We all paying this off over 5 years. We signed digital documents not seen until they were printed out after signing. To late we were now charged $199.00 installation. How can that balance two different contracts and why a specific loan company (I guess Vivint gest a cut. We were told by signing up with their credit company was all they wanted to do was verify our credit (turned out to be a credit charge. That all they wanted to have them do was verify that we were in good credit so that they could use as "a Model Home" and we would get in my interoperation free stuff. Sound familiar? We never got to see what we signed for in the contracts until they were emailed to us and we printed them out. Now here is the "RUB" in Connecticut you have so many days to put in writing in a certified let canceling the contact. Here is what they do to go around this, again in my opinion. Without my knowledge the salesman called the installers to come. (they were also form Florida and part of the Team" They were done at 10.00 PM Est. I could even see what the two cameras were seeing. I said I wanted to review what we signed so if there were any problems We could cancel if we signed according to Connecticut t law. Now the salesman told us if it was not done that night we would be charged for installation. He did not know the cost. So as two old married couple of 58 years we went along with it. My wife just felt compassion for the 20-year-old salesman from A Cuban family on Florida. How do we know about him, he talked about himself? What I am asking if this sounds familiar and you had a similar experience with Vivint let them know. Now after contacting their customer care support they, up to their supervisor, we need verification this 20 year who sold us this or that his main approach was FREE INSTLATION" beside other promises that were extreme "PUFF". So, I got his email address, emailed him twice Vivint contacted at least 3 times my cell phone and while I was on the phone for 20 minutes, they could not contact him'. Can you imagine a 20-year-old off his Smart phone and not getting these messages? Why does he not answer and admit that I should not be charged $199.00. Here is the email that I have been sending him: Mickey, This is my second attempt to contact you by email about this. Please have the decency to respond. My wife drove you to McDonalds because it too was too far for you to walk and back so that you could get something to eat. She dried your jacket because it was wet from the rain. We were charged $199.00 to install our security system. It was supposed to be installed for free. You mentioned this several times the first time when you first met with me. Also, at the end of the signed contract you told us that it was being installed that night. I questioned why it had to be installed that night and you replied if we don't have it done that night we would be charged for installation. Representative was out knocking on doors at 8 PM, would not leave when I ignored the first couple of knocks so unfortunately I opened the door and he had me talking about this company I have never heard of for way too long even after I said I was busy and didn't have much time. He tried to get into the house to talk more but I said no. It is much more difficult to get them to leave once you let them in. He kept trying to say there's three homes he is choosing to install their equipment for "free." But he had nothing with him, no identification, nothing but paper and an ipad. Kept asking if he could install right then... it is 8 at night get out of here. I was so angry about having my time monopolized especially when I had zero interest. Now I have to find a different alarm company just in case he or someone else from this fake company shows up late at night acting weird, which he said more salespeople will be out later in the week, he was just the first guy. They will have a police escort out of town if they show up again after business hours. If this is a real company, please hire more professional people and don't send them out after your normal business hours. Probably a ploy to scare you into buying their security stuff which has received terrible reviews as well. read more

Worst system ever! Don't waste your money! Our system has Never worked properly since it was installed. I have spent numerous HOURS on the phone with customer service. I'd give them a ZERO rating but they won't let me post without choosing a star rating. Buyer Beware!!! Had them for years and they were fine - not great but fine. A few months back my husband and I decided to add a video door bell upgrade. The salesman Jonathan Grimes sold us a pack of lies - was told us he could reduce our rate, get all new equipment Plus the video doorbell. At no time did he explain he was opening a new account and opening a loan in our name for the equipment which I will be paying for the next 5-years in addition to the cost of the monitoring service. Not only did he not explain this - we did not get all new equipment except for the video door bell - the installer simply changed out some batteries in our old equipment. So now I have a $2,200.00+ loan in my name on my credit report for a door bell I could have purchased outright at Best Buy or Amazon. Customer Service is not budging nor are they willing to offer any compensation. They told me if I want to cancel - I have to pay off the loan before they will remove their equipment and services. I hope they go out of business!!! read more

From Utah where they are based, and he was awesome, then I said ok to the installation even though they are the most expensive around....employees came to my house...can I say disorganized, UNRELIABLE, are just a couple adjectives THAT i can kindly come up with without using profane language......they will never get my business!!!!!! P.S. they should offer training classes to the people they hire due to the fact that employees are an extension of a business. ...wat a sad day for this company!!! read more

I purchased a new home and the alarm was already installed..spoke to their rep told me sign today,, pay 40 today , 2 yr contract @ 60 a month ....that was a lie , I m now paying 75 , with no one in the company able to explain why the difference. They have no support in area in the event door- lock should not work, or in my case the batteries on the door should die. I was not warned of this and I could not open the door with my 2 small children in 25 degree weather ..customer support told me to call a locksmith ....thank you for that genius , which I did and cost me 225 dollars..they're customer support takes at least a half hr , I ve been on the phone w them for over an hr waiting on more than 1 occasion . However , If your toast burns the fire alarm goes off and they will call you... A rep called me 4 or 5 days later aired my grievances and she politely had no answers. I wanted to cancel my service . I was transfered to cancellation dept and was on hold 35 min before I gave up . Just a poorly run, disorganized group, with kind reps in Utah that can't do jack shit for you if u have an issue in NY and don't have answers when you you question your bill. They do have good tech , but very poor deleivery and horrendous customer support, although they are polite when they tell you they can't help you . As I was working in my backyard the Vivint sales rep came onto my property and started asking me A LOT of questions about my home and neighbors. I politely told him SEVERAL times that we were not interested, but, he persisted. I then politely asked him to leave my property. I never yelled or cursed. Yet, when I asked him to leave my property he cursed me out and directed racial epithets towards me. He made it racial! I called the police!! read more

Company is horrible. The day of the install the installer had no batteries for the equipment. I gave him packs of batteries for the equipment. We discussed the glass break alarms, I didn't want them because the dogs set them off when they bark. They swore they would not set off "their" glass break alarms, so I bought them. The installer was here for hours, could not get anything working. He called for help, tried all sorts of things, swapped out parts no luck. After spending all day here we found out it was interference and got it fixed. The glass breaks false all the time and when I called to complain they blamed me for ordering them. I swear I did not want them, they pushed them on me. The key pad buzzes all night and day, on and off. They told me it was the key pad communicating with them. But the realty is it drives you nuts, you can here it in the background when you read or watch TV. They came out to fix it, did a software upgrade and it still does it. The package came with compact florescent light bulbs, its been 18 months I am still waiting for them. If you call they will just run you around. Oh and now the thermostat is out to lunch. I came home and it was hot in the house, the thermostat read 70 degrees. The central air is on but not running. I tried to change the temp it still did not come on. I took the batteries out when I put them back in, the display reads 76 degrees and the AC went on. Glad I paid for the upgraded thermostat so I can keep an eye on the house from my phone. I did it to keep the pets safe, I see that was a waste. Bottom line, don't waste your money with this company. lousy service,broken promises and broken equipment.
