I was a customer with this company until switching providers in March 2025. I followed every required step to properly cancel my services: I paid off my equipment, canceled through their third-party account lender, and my new provider even submitted a cancellation letter on my behalf. After completing all of this, I reasonably believed my account was closed. That assumption changed when I was contacted about an unpaid balance after fraud was discovered on my card. When I called to investigate, I was informed that this company had continued charging me for monitoring services the entire time--even though the equipment they were supposedly monitoring had been offline since cancellation. At no point did they contact me to question this. The first representative I spoke with, Leah or Aliyah, was helpful and confirmed that my service had been canceled and that I should be receiving a refund of over $250 . However, after being transferred to the billing department, the experience deteriorated significantly. The billing representative was rude, repeatedly cut me off, and ignored what I was saying. I have now been on hold for over an hour and forty minute waiting for this issue to be resolved. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, as well as contacting a lawyer. read more

Do not use Vivint. I'll start off with saying that the Sales person was kind and helpful. The installers however left a mess and didn't clean up after themselves. But the big Heck no was the billing department. I initially signed up for service back in 2019 ish. a bout 2020 I added some upgrades, a better camera and floodlights in 2 spots. When speaking with the sales person I asked about if there was any long term contract or change of contract with the upgraded and she stated that there was not. Fast forward, i just sold my house and was going to recommend Vivint to the new owners. I will not be doing that. In trying to cancel my account I was just informed that I am in a long term contract due to my upgrades and they want to charge me over 1K after ii just paid off my balance with they loan financing company. Took down the camera's already in place and put up vibint camera's. this is after her husban passed away about a month prior. She came to my house in tears. anyway that is her stoy to tell my story is about me moving out due to divorce.My wife restricted my use of the camera's so i cancelled. Later she told me she did not feel safe there.Vivint calls and says we will only charge you 19.99 a mo. so i said ok after the first monthmy bill was $44.17 i called my wife and said i am going to cancel it they did not honor thier deal..she said I will put it in my name. I said ok.so they put it in her.. name several monthes later i see they are still charging me. I call and go through the many questions and being on hold for over an hour.To make a long story short they said because i did not call to cancel myself that they can charge both of us. Not wanting to be honest or moral about the sittuation. If you sign up with them you will get screwed.And they dont care at all.As a matter of fact I am still on hold it has been 2 hours. I was with them 8 years and wanted to upgrade my system and a sales rep by the name of Paul came to my house on a Saturday and added equipment I didn't need and thought because I was a royal customer I'd be getting a deal but no. He kept telling me not to call the royal program until after they installed everything. I told him I'd check into it first before deciding and then he tried to send me a technician at 8-9 at night saying, they were having a contest and today was the last day to win. They wanted me to help them win by them coming to my house at 8-9 at night when I wasn't even home. I said no! That was fishy and too late. Then they were supposed to come on Monday at 10 am and no show or call. Then they said 3 to 5 and once again no show or call so I decided to cancel everything. Then I called the royal number to make sure everything was indeed canceled but no, the service rep offered me a deal of 3 cameras with spotlight, 1 being free, DVR 24 hr monitoring, a new panel, ring for my front door and 5 break in sensors. And they made the appointment for two weeks later and I thought I was getting a deal but no. I had a wrong technician from the old sales rep show up and I said no, I didn't request it today or using Paul anymore and decided to use a sales representative instead who gave me a better deal. He wasn't happy and called someone and insisted to come into my house and I said no. I have plans and they are coming next week. Friday comes and the technician explains and reviews the installation and tells me that no, the dvr monitoring isn't included but 300 dollars more and I'm like what? I'm nlt going to pay that. It was part of the deal but he insists no. He calls someone and they try to offer a 20% disc and I refuse. I told them forget it. I want to cancel everything. I call them once again to cancel and they tried to give me a discount and keep me on hold and they talk to their manager and to give me a discount but I notice every time I call they give me a different story and discount. They say they will give be free installation and deduct 550 from my equipment and not charge me the 5 recording fee and since I was paying for the equipment, I'd only pay 29.99 per month but I say no thanks. ‍ they keep offering me a discount and wasting my time so I hang up and call again and tell them I only want to cancel and don't want any deals. And then they tell me I was charged 133 for the technician who showed up and I explain to them what happened and nothing. I have to talk to a manager and make me wait over and hour. I finally talk to someone and they say they will cancel everything but they don't. My system is still working and I call again a week later and they tell me my system is still active. I get a letter from Fortiva, the equipment finance company welcoming me to refinance with them and I never requested it. In fact I had said I was going to pay for the equipment up front and now I call fortiva and cancel the credit card because I didn't request them. I call Vivint again to cancel and they say, they have to charge me the monthly fee after cancellation and put me on hold and rep tries to talk me into staying and offering me new deals but I say no. I told them, even if lady Gaga comes to me house in person and asks me to stay. I won't! Omg it took 3 weeks to deal with all this mess. So no I don't trust them and don't recommend them. Worst customer service ever!!! On top of being complete liars!!!! They came in very head strong and guaranteed us that they will buy out of our prior contract with another security company. After taking down and literally cutting our cameras from our previously security company. They were unable to fulfill their prior obligations of buying out of our previous contract with the other security company. Since they couldn't buy out of the other contract that we continued to pay, we told them to just go ahead and take back their equipment and put back up the other companies equipment on top of replacing the damaged cameras that they cut when they were setting up their cameras. We were told that they would not set back up or replace the other cameras and ringers from the other company and said it was out of their hands. BUT demanded that they get their equipment back. Also!!! It has been 2 months of a runaround with them and has been no different no matter who you speak to at customer service. They are trained liars and are very good at convincing you to get their equipment. One of the employees has been to my house three times now even though there's a "no soliciting sign" on the doorbell he rings and I finally told him that we're not interested and don't want the service and he ignored me and kept trying to show me the product. I finally was irritated and told him to leave and to stop coming back because it was his third time and that the first time he was walking around my wife's car and looking at the back plate. Do not PURCHASE equipment from this company. They were deceptive at the sales level and did not disclose the transaction accurately. I only found out the level of deception upon moving 2 years later. I was SOLD 2 outdoor cameras, 1 doorbell camera and 2 sensors for close to $3500 financed for 5 years. Never was I told I was purchasing listed equipment TOTALLING THAT AMOUNT BEING FINANCED OVER 5 YEARS. THIS AMOUNT IS ROBBERY. We had a charming young man come to our door in 2018. We previously had ADT. At that time ADT didn't have a smart monitor so my hubby decided to switch to Vivint. We have had 3 false alarms and Vivint hasn't called us to make sure we are okay. With ADT someone would always call and make sure we are okay. Finally in August We called them and they said it should be in by Sept 15th. That date came and went. We kept calling and were given excuses. Mid Ict we called and they said they were waiting for city approvals so I called the city and they said approvals have been oked already. When we called Vivint back, miraculously they were able to come out the next week. After the install (3 weeks ago now) Vivint said the next Monday they would call us after setting up the inspection. The alarm system is very good, no issues there. However the customer service is by far the worst I have ever experienced. I had a refund due to an overpayment and as today Vivint has refused to return it to me. Each time I called the story changed. The refund was going back to my account, then canceled, next resent to my account, lastly a check was be overnight to my home. All lies!! This company is a scam! The equipment is garbage, when it stops working they want to try to walk you through the issue over the phone instead of sending out a technician. In the winter I've had the "smart" thermostat stop working and it was freezing in the home until I fought them to send me a new one and still they would not install it. They walked me through it over the phone. In the Sumner I had the thermostat stop working and it was over 100 degrees in my home. The cameras don't always work. You can hardly ever understand who you are talking to in technical support due to their Indian accent. This company preyed on my mother and her age an told her she was receiving "free" equipment for a low monthly fee. They provided her with services she did not need or want. When she tried to cancel they charged her $1000 and still required written cancellation before they would cancel her service but not before they took her money. My first mistake was not reading yelp. My new house had an existing Vivint system so I decided to give them a call and hook it back up. Customer service at that point was great (good job sales)...it's all downhill from there. It took 3 tries to get a tech out to my home. It's a long azz story but my negative review is because: * I was hard credit checked unknowingly (read that fine print like a mother fawker) * It took 7hrs to install the system (there was a glitch or issue w God knows what which caused the long install) * The night it was installed I was alone (hence the reason for a security system, to be safe) and the alarm triggered and I thought someone was breaking in to murder me...Turns out a sensor wasn't secured correctly and fell causing the trigger. Since then I have called customer service too many times. The hold time is redic. And they will not send anyone out to properly secure the sensors. I was told to secure it myself w double sided tape. I cant make this shit up. Why won't I cancel? Cuz they credit checked my ass and drilled holes in my home to place their equipment. Now I won't know if my alarm is triggered due to poor install or a potential murder/burglary. Lucky me. This is my personal experience therefore I would never recommend this company. read more

Would never recommend this company!!! Their equipment sucks and works intermittently. Getting them to come and replace my "smart" thermostat that would defer to 75 degrees in the middle of the night, every night and wouldn't respond to the vivant app was a complete waste of time! The tech came the first time and didn't have a replacement. The second time, Friday before a heat wave, he replaces it,says it will work in 30 minutes after it loads up, he leaves... it never worked! It's 4:30 , Friday night, the weekend is supposed to be 109 degrees and they cannot get ANYONE here until Tuesday! I called Mel's Heating and Air Conditioning. Robert was awesome and came right over and after hearing about my troubles, he charged me the normal rate and even gave me a discount on the thermostat . Moral of story: DO NOT sign any contracts with Vivant!!!!!!!!! They are not EVER going to admit their equipment sucks! New review: So, 4 of the sensors require new batteries, that they do NOT tell you about when you purchase their shitty equipment... the housing is VERY difficult to open, while on the door or window, without breaking or causing it to fall off the wall... my hands are not strong enough to do this without damaging the housing. So, I request an appointment for a service tech. They want $49 just to come out and I have to go buy the batteries (special circle ones)! My experience has been the worst. I had a good security company but this sales person talked his way of having me change. I wish I had never done it and so now I have a mess to clean up. I had an appointment for them to come and get the equipment from 8 am to 12 noon but no one show up and therefore I wasted my entire morning when I could have been doing something else. It's unfortunate, I really, really wanted to like this company. But it's almost impossible. Had SO many issues with my doorbell, which was the main reason I went with this company. At first install, they blew my transformer and blamed it on me. Then when I replaced it the tech came out to fix the doorbell and blew it again!!! So my doorbell didn't work for a good 7 months an they gave me no credit for it. Cameras don't work when they should. I have had packages stolen off my porch multiple times and the doorbell doesn't get it, yet the sun or a cat gets seen on the doorbell. Outdoor camera too, finally got one and it picks up bugs flying but not a 200 lb human. When the doorbell does actually pick up people, it lags for about 30 seconds. So it alerts me that someone is on my porch but I can't see who it is for 30 whole seconds, and by that time the thief is gone. What's the point?? Shoot some days it lags so much that the person ringing my bell leaves because they think I am not home. Again, what's the point of being able to view your porch to talk to someone if they leave before you can speak to them! The app sucks too. Always glitchy and laggy. And the "customer loyalty" department, don't even get me started on them. All the free things for new customers, but existing ones no they have to pay almost 500 bucks for 1 camera to be installed. Suck it Vivant!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting Nest instead. I pay 70 bucks a month basically for the company to monitor but by the time they called the police, their shitty cameras won't have picked up anything anyways, so what difference does it make. I do not like being lied to. Being told that Vivint makes ADT's products and that you are like Apple in that you make the phones but AT & T sales them truly paints a false picture. Being told that only the equipment would be financed for 60 months at a little over $100 and that after it was paid the fee for for monitoring would be for $51 only to find out later that it is really two fees is unacceptable. Never fully disclosed that it's a $6,000 contract for 60 months and only talking about the equipment is unacceptable. Being told I can cancel but I can't cancel is unacceptable. I am flabbergasted to find out that you had to change your name because of selling people a lie and all the lawsuits you have against you. You are targeting people who work hard for their money and care about making sure they feel safe in their own homes. Still having issues with this company. We were supposed to have a credit on our account so we shouldn't have been charged for July but guess what? The credit was never applied so we were charged! I had to call and have them apply the credit so hopefully it was applied correctly and we aren't charged for August. Another issue: the app will tell us the garage door didn't close when we sat and watched it close. I called about this issue and was told to delete the app and then redownload it. Well today it did it again, we left home but had to go back to check to make sure the garage door did indeed close and yes it was closed even though the app was saying it didn't close. I contacted vivant and was told i needed to be home to troubleshoot the issue so since i wasn't home at the time we couldn't do anything. I'll have to call back tomorrow. I regret not canceling when my husband told me to. Update: its September 2019 and we still have issues with the app. It tells us the garage door didn't close even when we watch it fully close.
