I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. They have thee WORST service and there customer service is even WORSE. My system has not worked correctly since the install, they have replaced cameras repeatedly and my panel has been replaced. They have installed WiFi repeaters all over my house and still can not keep my cameras operational. I am so over my system being down yet still having to pay my bill with no credits being offered for all my down time. The customer service provided by this company is unlike anything I have ever ever experienced. This company does not care about there service all they care about is your money and that is evident by the way the customer service reps treat you. I just want out of my service and all the equipment taken down, that can't happen because I have a 5 Year contract they will not let me out of. They talked shit about my wife and she could hear them because the dumbass customer service rep did not put her on hold and left the line open. I'm very dissatisfied with the billing department. They are constantly getting my bill wrong. I only mail in payments now. I would not trust them to have my bank account information. As far as the service, I've had 3 false alarms and the last false alarm was after they were supposed to deactivate the faulty censor. I did just get a new sensor in the mail that I have to try and install myself I guess! I appreciate Vivint contacting me to hear my concerns after seeing this complaint. If the people who lived in your house before you move out but keep paying for their account they can remotely unlock your doors, change your thermostat, and get into your house and vivint will do NOTHING ABOUT IT even though they don't live here! If I could give Vivint 0 stars I would, everything about this experience was a nightmare. Even for a 3 day trial, they will drill holes in your wall. If you have a security system, they will remove your cameras and security panel (they will not reinstall what they remove, which was not mentioned by any of the sales, techs, or customer service. So you will need to schedule someone else to come fix what the uninstalled). The installation techs left uncut zipties on the wall, half cut zipties (very sharp) protruding from the walls. They left screws on the floor that my wife stepped on and my one year old picked up and handed to me. The cameras need to be run to an outlet inside the house, which seems ridiculous. The same day of the installation, the panel disconnected from the internet preventing us from arming and disarming the system. After submitting the notice of cancelation twice and complaining about the installation, they sent the same technician out to remove the system. We had issues with ADT but after this Vivint fiasco, we realized what we heard was better by far!! read more

Worst service AND customer service ever! We installed a security system two years ago with cameras and monitoring. When we moved about 1 1/2 years into service, we transferred to our new home and have had nothing but problems since! The doorbell camera is very hit & miss in what it records. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Same with the driveway camera before it quit working altogether. It hasn't worked in several months, and after doing all the trouble shooting it suggests, we STILL couldn't get a tech out to look at it. Instead they want to walk us through it over the phone, as if it isn't THEIR job! Today I got fed up and called to cancel, and I was told I'm still on a FIVE YEAR contract, which I do not recall agreeing to. I asked for a copy to be sent to me and am still waiting. So they tell me we still owe them for half of the agreed monitoring ($1044) and the remaining equipment charges ($1147). I say, "Fine, bill me and cancel my service." These assholes are trying to tell me I CANNOT cancel. How can they force their services on me. I agree I will pay the remainder of the contract but I am not obligated to use their shitty service. I can't even install a new system as long as their shitty one remains! read more

Today some one tried to break into my custom car parked in driveway and lousy camera is not functioning 1 1/2 year old. I am so mad at this time that I called Viviant and there is a 40 minute wait either phone or net. Oh, but when there trying to sell you their product, there on top of you 24/7. I have had my system just over a week and I was really excited about it. The sales pitch was great, I was promised 24/7 coverage and I even decided to get two additional outdoor cameras in addition to the doorbell camera. It was great for about a day and then the problems started. The cameras started going offline. Panel reset after panel reset has not resolved the issue. My WiFi connection was checked and that is good. So far every day one or all of the cameras are not working. The tech has now been to my house multiple times and nothing changes. The panel gets reset but the cameras still don't work. That does not make me feel good or safe. Why am I paying for equipment that doesn't work and that your team isn't able to fix? I feel sad that every day I am disappointed with my system. It's brand new and doesn't work. When I chat or call the only solution they have is to send out a tech that doesn't fix my cameras. I don't want to pay for something that doesn't work within the first week. I just want a system that works to help protect my family. read more

Absolutely the worst. The only good thing about Vivint is one woman at HQ that really did try for the three years of the contract to help. She at least reimbursed some costs. Otherwise nothing ever worked, they were slow responding, they were unable to get my contact list and emergency numbers correct in 36 months of service, there security service came three hours after an emergency happened and the police were not called or did not show up as they were supposed to and all the service men who came out were contractors until 2020 ( almost three years of my service time) and each had a different suggestion which meant each suggested I pay for upgrading. Worst of all, when the local company I hired to start up a new service came in to take out all of Vivint Sensors , cameras, etc--- they showed me immediately that two of the window sensors/devices did not have batteries. Had I had a burglary , the alarm system would not off gone off!!!!!!. DO NOT BUY INTO THEM IN MODESTO, CA . Hire Local Intelliguard on Coffee Road. My experience was MISERABLE with Viviant. The sales manager made untrue promises, then was gone from the company and the company even closed their sales office in my town. Changing the battery in the smoke detector made the alarm go off, so we called Vivint to tell them it was not an emergency, they insisted on sending the Fire Department on a FALSE alarm anyway . They promised outside cameras, never came thru with them . Promised they would change batteries for us as we're elderly and disabled. Nope, not without a high service charge. Then cancellation is a horrible process. They demand you send it to them in writing and give them 30 days and another payment. I would NOT recommend this company. read more

Don't sign with vivint!!! The salesman lied to me twice saying I had NO contract only month to month service. My contract was for 5 years. Installer removed the house door bell from the door bell button so the door bell only rang through their alarm panel. One of the outside cameras quit after three days. The wiring was poor and was shorted out. I canceled my contract with them and went back to my original alarm company. It has been three weeks and I can't get them to pick up their equipment. They have been a no show for three appointments. They won't close my account until their get their equipment back but no one seems to want to pick up the cameras and alarm panel. read more

Would never recommend this company!!! Their equipment sucks and works intermittently. Getting them to come and replace my "smart" thermostat that would defer to 75 degrees in the middle of the night, every night and wouldn't respond to the vivant app was a complete waste of time! The tech came the first time and didn't have a replacement. The second time, Friday before a heat wave, he replaces it, says it will work in 30 minutes after it loads up, he leaves... it never worked! It's 4:30 , Friday night, the weekend is supposed to be 109 degrees and they cannot get ANYONE here until Tuesday! I called Mel's Heating and Air Conditioning. Robert was awesome and came right over and after hearing about my troubles, he charged me the normal rate and even gave me a discount on the thermostat . So I called no help.Ended up paying 2 alarm company's. I do have to say maytronics my old alarm company did lower their price down so I wouldn't have to pay as much become vivid not bye me out. I would never recommend this place. They actually have a great security system but their billing and customer service is horrible. I had moved from my old home in December. I called and said the new owner was taking over my system which they said could be done and that they would cancel my account. They continued to charge me for not 1, 2, 3 months but 4 months. Two times I called their customer service number and both times the person promised me my account was cancelled and that a check was on the way. All the people sound really nice on the phone but I feel like I was lied to twice and that is no way to conduct business. Stay away from Vivint! read more

UNPROFESSIONAL - LOW UPFRONT COSTS WITH HIGH FUTURE COSTS We have not even been a customer for 1 year. Here's my current issues with Vivint. 1) Website automation is a joke. I spent one hour (May-June) trying to update air cond. temp. I finally gave up. Multiple buttons for the different controls in our home. If I updated one thermostat, the other thermostat, defaulted back to the original numbers. Unbelievable. 2) Alarm automatically goes off (tried piggy back on an existing system). At this point, we are reluctant to turn on the alarm, not unless we want to be woken up prematurely in the wee hours of the morning. 3) NOSHOW for "FIX IT" appointments. Yes, more than one apt. has been scheduled and rescheduled. At this point, we have yet to have our issues fixed. The company does not appear to value...time is money. BUYER BE AWARE! I DO NOT recommend Vivint and I would recommend that future customer wait until version 7.0. Several software iterations should give the company time to get all the software kinks out and train their support staff. Buggy software! I normally do not post reviews; however, if I can save another consumer the grief and pain of wasting time and money, I will do it. Looking at the reviews it appears that I am not the only one that is having this problem!!! On last note, we did experience an issue in the past where the customer support person asked me (yes, we were having problems with the camera not coming online) to do something on the panel that jacked up our system and it took days to fix. They if you have an issue even if the issue is over $2.00, won't waive the charges! They also tried to charge me for a security sign, and I told them I am NOT going to pay to advertise your services! Another guy stated that he would not charge me for a sign as I haven't had a new sign in over years and I'm right that this is also an advertisement for them! **DO NOT GET A VIVINT ALARM SYSTEM!!!** My great uncle turns 100 years of age in less than a month and my great aunt is 95 years old. I have Power Of Attorney for them, so I have been consumed with this. My uncle is a double purple heart, combat wounded, bronze star recipient, 100% disabled WWII veteran. My aunt has disabilities related to aging for which, in part, the Vivint Home Security System was installed to assist. This complaint involves faulty equipment and failure to provide services promised by Vivint on 7/26/17, and which have been malfunctioning or in disrepair from the date of installation to today's date of 7/24/19. There have been recurrent, persistent and ultimately interminable problems with operation of the system. These problems include alarm malfunctions, auto-dialing monitoring problems, inoperable door locks that present a danger to my aunt as well as security concerns, climate control malfunctions, alarm siren defects, non-operational security cameras (6 cameras with none working), billing for services not rendered and monthly auto-drafts from my aunt and uncle's bank account even though the system does not work. These problems and failures to repair, correct or make appropriately operational the entire system have been reported to Vivint on numerous occasions and met with no meaningful or effective responses and worse met with rude offensive conduct toward my aunt, uncle, and other family members. This situation has resulted in harmful stress to both my aunt and uncle, but especially to my aunt. Her health has been compromised, she has suffered some hearing impairment from the high volume of the siren going off constantly for no valid cause, the entire neighborhood has been disturbed by the faulty alarm activations, and there have been harassing phone calls to my aunt, along with the financial stress of the unwarranted monthly fees. These incessant problems have been witnessed by neighbors attempting to come to my aunt's aid, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department, amount other parties. There are more instances of equipment malfunctions and Vivint's failure to provide the services as promised and for which they have continued to bill and collect monthly fees. A review of the billing record and payment log from the 7/26/17, the date of installation and onset of system malfunctions, shows withdrawals from my aunt and uncle's bank account in excess of $2,300. The billing amounts varied from month-to-month with no adequate explanation for different charges. The latest description of charges includes "Detective Agencies and Protective Services," ostensibly for sending law enforcement/guard services to the house for false alarms stemming from faulty equipment. Desired resolution * Vivint will refund the full amount of payments made by my aunt and uncle from 7/26/17, through 7/24/19. Vivint will provide and accept a Special Cancellation Agreement upon my aunt and uncle's receipt of a refund in the amount of all documented payments to Vivint. Vivint will schedule a day and time for the removal of all security equipment from the home and make sure removal does not interfere with the operation of remaining telephone, cable tv, or any other electrical/electronis equipment or services at the residence. Vivint will perform these removal services at no charge to my aunt and uncle. Still no response from Vivint. Today, to make matters worse, the alarm panel is off the wall, and hot to the touch. When we called in, the representative transfers us, (with the call being disconnected), to having to call back and go through everything with another representative. That representative asked me to go over to the house and take pictures of the panel, then they could get a technician scheduled. I did exactly what I was asked, only to then be told that they needed additional pictures of the back of the panel! I lost it. I told them that this is beyond absurdity, and that we are not playing anymore games. Vivint has stated that because we threatened legal action, they are refusing to send a technician!! PLEASE DO NOT GET A VIVINT ALARM!!!!! I am looking now for a lawyer, preferably one that will take this case on a contingency. If anyone knows one, please refer!! read more

Terrible service, they con you into getting their system. In very small print it states the contract is for 4 years. The salesman doesn't even mention that you are signing a 4 year contract!! Yet the equipment is only warranted for 4 months. What a major rip off!! Their alarm sensors are stuck on with double sided tape, such a joke their quality leaves a lot to be desired. Trust me as soon as my contract is up all their junky equipment will be going in the garbage where it belongs!!! read more

Well, after 4 days of them trying to install the things he promised would work and him promising to pay $500 towards my ADT cancellation, I have 1/2 a system and a bill from ADT that he refuses to honor. My husband and I just had this system installed in our home. The sales persons Sam was convincing and nice, however, the install was shabby. Motion sensor on one of the doors fell off during the night. The camera was mounted but dangling from the ball joint. Needless to say, we aren't impressed. read more

I have had this service for a year and have had a tech out once or twice a month. I bi weekly have to reset my panel and have to uninstall and reinstall my doorbell each time! The cameras have all been replaced the panel and the repeaters! My house is only 1,700 square feet! The only reason I got the service was so my 4 kids could come in with the keyless entry. Use the doorbell camera instead of answering the door. And for the cameras so I can keep an eye on what's happening at my house. My mother in law lives with me and has dementia. So if I leave to get my kids from school I need have footage if she were to go outside. I DID NOT get my system for the alarm. I can't use it because of my mother in law. They have credited me months of service but said I have to pay till 2022 because I signed a contract! They said they will take the cameras back but I have to continue to pay for the service that I'm not using because of that contract!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! Started out really shaky with the customer service dept and got transferred 4 different times. The experience initially was a disaster. All of our questions and concerns was not answered, everything was frustrating. Morgan got on the phone and addressed all of our concern and made this a Better experience. I have owned the Vivint home security system for about 3 months now and am very satisfied with it. The system is very well automated and integrates nicely with my cell phone app and pc-based web browser. I like the features of doorbell motion sensor/ camera, garage door sensors, ability to turn on/ off lights, control thermostats, and most especially the ability to be able to open/ close my front and garage doors remotely. The only reason that I don't get it a 5-star rating is that when I accidently triggered my alarm by opening the garage door before disarming the system, I ran to the console to type in my security code, and the console locked-up on me, so I had to wait a minute for Vivint to call me, and it took them another couple of minutes to stop my alarm from sounding and reset my console remotely. But, I accidently set off my alarm one other time, and did not have any issues with stopping the alarm with my code, so I will attribute this to a one-time fluke. Overall, I am very satisfied with my system. read more

My alarm system keeps going off, the panel says that the system is being tampered with. master bedroom and other bedroom. No one is tampering with anything. We have called several times, and now it will take them 10 to 17 days to send out 2 new sensors. I hate this system, my husband asked for a tech to come out for this faulty problem, and its about 50 dollars for labor. Its their crap, but we have to pay for the techs labor. Its in the contract. Don't get a vivint system. So for almost 2 wks we will be out of security for a bedroom and master bedroom and then they will credit us for the time the security is not in use. Wow how big of them. I told my husband when the contract ran out that I did not want this system anymore. He disagreed, and now we are locked into this contract for 5 more stinkin yrs. I trust my dogs more than what they can do. Customer service sucks, and they should have sent a tech out to examine all censors on their dime. Not ours. Again, go with some other company. read more

Seniors BEWARE!!! There is a representative for Vivint, Ian Neil, he is a scam artist. He sold my mom, 84 yrs old, a system by telling her that her current company is bankrupt and going out of business, thus scaring her. He pressured her into the system and said he would save her money, he saved her 3.00 per month. He is not truthful. When confronted he continued with his untruths, he also refused to make the situation right by helping us cancel the contract he scammed her into signing. I have been dealing with vivint and their phone reps have been helpful. HOWEVER, when I asked for his manager's name so I could talk to him/her, they said it is unlawful to put me in touch with his supervisor. Ian also told us he has no boss that he is the manager and would not give me his supervisor's name/number. Ian then called me back on tuesday and told me he had cancelled the contract and scheduled a tech to be at her house to "repossess" the equipment. I called Vivint to confirm, they said their sales reps do not have the ability to cancel contracts and schedule a tech. He also did not show up in uniform, the tech had a mini van that had no identification on it saying it represented vivint. when ian came back to the house to explain himself, he had no identification. he was not wearing a vivint shirt and brought some other guy who was not in vivint uniform. I am not done here with this. Ian deserves to be let go for scamming seniors. he said he sold about 12 contracts in her area, unfortunately this is a senior area with only 1 or 2 houses with kids. How many of those 12 did he scam? I want to talk to Ian's supervisor but how do I find one since they claim it's illegal to give me that information. When he walked out, he actually spit his gum into my mom's grass, a little thing but who does that? So disrespectful. read more

Vivint is NOT the way to go. Locked into a 5 year contract with equipment that continually goes on/off line. Support just tries to walk you through all the steps you have already tried before calling. Today I called for support because entire panel is black and not functioning. Support told me I would need about 15 minutes and a Philips screwdriver to fix it. Ummmmm, I'm not a trained tech. On 4th of July fireworks set off directly in front of our side yard camera set bushes on fire.....went to see if camera caught any of it, NO. It was "offline" at the time. Support is very polite and friendly, and they try to help, but the equipment is garbage. I wouldn't even advertise that we have Vivint with a Vivint sign on our front yard. Oh, and all equipment must be plugged into an electrical outlet. They don't tell you that until they come to install. So we have hole with wire/plug coming through wall in a bedroom and dropping from near ceiling down to outlet. Lovely. read more

The worst service I've ever had.. please do not use this company... you will regret just like I have.. first it took them 6 hours to connect my equipment.. he said he had to leave cuz he has another job so he came back the next day... from the start it was a disaster... sales girl was good but they had to bring a bunch of people into the sale because the office didn't have any recognition to their badges number ,to 3 of their employees that's terrible... how does the office not recognize 3 badge numbers, so I scheduled an appointment with them to show me how to work my cameras and they cancel my appointment after I've waited a week for it then I called them back and their customer service is no help and their answer is "its not our fault the technician quit" just reschedule what's the big deal Who has time for so many phone calls? worst part about it my alarm doesn't even work , I leave it on and it doesn't even beep when unlock my door or even walk through my place and it armed. Do not use Vivint home security.... We had a 39 month contract. At the end of the 39 month contract we called as a courtesy to cancel. They informed me that I needed to supply them with a "certificate of cancellation" and that my wife needed to sign it since she signed the contract. They would not provide me with the form ... so I made a nice "Certificate" (suitable for framing) "Hereby notified them of the cancellation". And my wife signed as instructed. About a month later, I got a call from VIVINT(they call me but my wife signed the contract???). The nice gentleman tried numerous times to get me to sign back up... I asked him if he got the signed notice of cancellation... he confirmed that he had and then goes on to tell me that it is not valid until they talk to my wife!!! I told him the nice conversation was over.. and that he and VIVINT have pissed me off, and his attempts to get me to sign up for more service was not working and the contract was canceled..... a month later another Associates called me, this time to tell me they are concerned about the two months past due bill and the that the credit card ending in xxxx didn't go through.... I nicely asked if the received the "certificate of cancellation" and she confirmed... I had to tell her... NEWS FLASH we told the bank not to allow you bill that card......(thankfully, we were one step ahead these crook) I had to explain to her that if VIVINT continues to attempt to bill my wife's credit card I would fill fraud charges... she put me in touch with her stupidvisor, who repeated the company line and went on to say that it was impossible for her to cancel the account, even though they received written notice with out speaking to my wife... I said then why don't you call her??? and then told her again... the account is canceled, the contract expired and if they continued I would post their sleezy tactics on facebook... so... here the post!!!! hope you don't have VIVINT, and if you do..when you can cancel your contract make sure to block them from billing your payment method! We have had Vivint for several years and have always been very happy, recommending them every chance we had. BUT,....since upgrading to the Smart Home, worst move I made. Product is good, but customer service is horrible, and I mean horrible. As we all know, product is only as good as customer service. Unusually long waits, uninformed representatives, just a myriad of problems. I have looked at other security services but none can read Vivint products on our windows, doors, or any of our motion sensors and the internet??? Hello I have a wifi house but Vivint has a problem connecting to our wifi?? really now, amazing my phone and tv work fine as well as all the computers in the house. The doorbell? oh yeah another conversation altogether, let's not go there. So over $2,000 and I am still waiting for good customer service.
