Be careful! The contract has the price of the equipment which you are expected to pay for either over time or out right!!! More importantly, the price of the equipment is very very high overpriced, and you are purchasing it. I rather pay for ring or another security system and save a $1000 dollars... literally. This company is a sabotaging scandal, I agreed to install the security system at a reasonable price. The guy came out installed and orientated me on the operations of such. My main concern was at night--which the screen display didn't function as I projected it to, so the next day 'all within a timely manner' I called the company and informed them, hey this doesn't display as I thought 'it was blurred at night' I don't want it. The salesman explicitly stated 'no charge would be applied, I am still within the agreement of the return policy and no monthly bill would accumulate. A month after that a bill came, harassing texts and 'they failed to process my cancellation of service and return in a timely manner and think I am going to pay them....yeah right!!!! And they are still charging me as if I got the dam useless equipment...these people are crazy! read more

I have the same complaints as everyone else. The service doesn't function properly, and the customer service is awful. Based on the other comments, I expect some generic "we're sorry, contact us" reply from Vivint here. We have contacted them, hence the comment about terrible customer service. I was optimistic to come across a company offering more modern home security. I wanted to be able to--not only monitor my activity from anywhere, but also--interact with my system while away. I gave vivint a shot over ADT. Upon first coming out, the tech did half the job and said he'd come back later to finish the rest. We discussed where I wanted my touch screen display. I found him drilling a hole in my living room wall, right next to the TV. When asking why he's drilling there, he said that's where I wanted to put the screen. I said we just agreed to put it next to the kitchen! On top of that, he drilled for my door lock and installed it upside down. I try to unlock the door using my app, and it locks... I actually cannot unlock it... it only locks. I had to get a locksmith for $260 to fix it. He comes back a week later to 'finish the job.' Says I'm just here to do the garage... we don't have any Doorbell cameras... but don't worry. Vivint will reach out to you to schedule that install.' Vivint had no idea I had even ordered the Doorbell camera! After waiting for over a week, I reached out to vivint... not the other way around. For 30 minutes I was on the phone, talking with (no exaggeration) 5 reps. They finally found when I initially ordered the camera and said the earliest they could install it was valentine's day anywhere from 4p-8p. I work nights, so I had to take off in order to make sure I didn't miss my appointment... not to mention ruining any shot of spending the holiday on the one day of each week I can see my girlfriend. They killed my whole day waiting around for a phone call saying they're on the way. I finally get a call at 4pm saying 'do you already have your Doorbell camera?' I'm like... is this a joke? I don't know what kind of bozo company they're running here... how do they still not know that 1- I ordered it... And 2-That I haven't received it?! They call saying umm.... we don't have any Doorbell cameras... the earliest we can do is sometime in March. I swear to Jesus Christ, if I'd have known it would've been anything like this, I would've just used ADT. I read negative reviews online, but like to remain objective and keep an open mind. I gave vivint the benefit of the doubt... it's been about 2 weeks, and they already have me frustrated to my wit's end. So, if you're like me, listen when I tell you... yes, there probably are many people who never have issues and think everything's great... but there are waaaaay too many people who have legitimate complaints! I should've listened to my gut. This is the worst service experience I've had, and they don't do anything to try to make amends. At least the cable companies offer you a discount. I feel compelled to write this review to (hopefully) save people the aggravation of this companies horrible business practice. First, I was asked to sign a contract and a copy of that would be sent to my email....somehow (cough cough) this didnt happen. The day before installation, I called and advised that if I didnt see the contract, I was cancelling - it miraculously appeared immediately after that threat. I was told by the salesperson that the only contract period was for the equipment charges, but I could cancel service at any time. I found this to be a lie when I finally saw the contract - you are committed to a 5 year obligation. In Maryland, you have 3 days to cancel; I truly believe they were stalling to let me see the contract until this period was over. Even if this wasnt the case, the salesperson blatantly lied. Be careful! and read all reviews prior to engaging with these people. Bonus joke - they claim the owners are Mormon and would never lie.....Mormons dont act this way ! read more

A little runt representing this company came to my door today, asking for my wife by name. I asked what he wanted and he finally said something about security systems. I told him we were covered, not in the market for that or anything else. He persisted so I closed the door and walked away. He banged on the door yelling when will my wife be home. As if I can't speak for us. He threatened that he will be back. I told him to go several times. I walked again and he rang the bell a few more times and left. If this gross punk returns I will call the police for bothering us. If I have to personally remove him from our property, that too will be done. read more

I was with this company for 5 years. I had a 3 year contract and just went with month to month for the other 2 years. There was never an issue with the system, just not the best technical services. I was renovating and had to remove one of the door sensors. We called prior to removal for directions and approval, we called when the project was completed. We followed technical support's direction and thought everything was fine. When I set the alarm to run to the store, when I returned my neighbors informed me the alarm went off and the police arrived. The technical support gave us incorrect instructions for reset. I've had incorrect direction from the team more than once...but nothing that caused a false alarm. I noticed one day, the motion detectors stopped working. I called in for a technical team member to come out. I was told it would be $79. I told them since I was month to month, I wanted to end my contract. They agreed to send someone out for no charge. They tech changed the motion sensor. The company called me to offer $5 less a month if I agreed to sign on for another 3 yrs with unlimited visits from the technician visits. I agreed. After thinking about it over night, I sent called and followed up with an email stating, I have changed my mind and would like to continue with the month to month as I've had previously (I thought this would by me some time while shopping for a new company). I noticed they didn't charge me for 1 month , which they had done some years ago. I thought it was a credit for all the drama I'd had with them recently. It wasn't until I had loss my phone line due to a storm. I called to inform them of this. That is when I discovered, they stated they received a letter stating to end my services. I was very specific in my letter that I wanted to CONTINUE with the services that I had prior to the new agreement, which was month to month. It's not the best company. Last year, I saw reps drive up in a neighbor's drive way (with him on the porch) to do a turn-around. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy...not that I have any. read more

BLUF: Complaint about being harassed by an employee of yours after repeatedly being told "I'm not interested" and to "leave my property please", more than 5 or 6 times. More: One of your sales representatives - Evan Kelly, employee badge ID #106801 - kept trying to sell me on your smart home product (even though he'd always start out with "i promise im not trying to sell you anything", yet his badge said "Sales Representative"), even though repeatedly being told that i wasn't interested, "no thanks", "please leave my property", and continually trying to end the conversation...he kept pushing. This culminated with me telling him, again atleast 3 or 4 times, to "GET THE F- - - OFF MY PROPERTY NOW!". Still, nothing, he continued to persist. I informed him that had we been in Texas, that would be considered trespassing and would not have been a favorable outcome for him. Also, that in the state of MD, repeatedly being told to leave a personal property of any kind, and not, can carry jail time (up to a minimum 90 days for the first offense and up to $500 fine). Guess he finally got the picture because he left my house. http://law.justia.com/codes/maryland/2010/criminal-law/title-6/subtitle-4 that is the MD law code for trespassing, which a number of these applied to him as far as me telling him to leave repeatedly and not adhering. Buyer Beware!!! My family was approached by a Vivint Sales rep Thursday evening, July 18th. The salesman, Josh Coen, used aggressive and unethical tactics to try their system. We were offered items (that later found could not be delivered), incomplete install, not provided a notice of cancellation, and false contract pricing. Before leaving he left us with a pamphlet detailing products offered and referral cards.He blacked out (with a pen) the corporate number, and stated we should contact him directly with any questions. After calling Josh to cancel the service because of the incomplete install the following day, he was very persistent in offering more products (which he stated would be delivered in two weeks) and discounted price, which I would have to wait until he received an approval from corporate (which he stated would take a few days). I asked for all of this in writing and he stated he did not have my email address (even though an email was required to setup service). I inquired again about the period to cancel because the technician stated 3 days,which conflicted with what he stated. Josh, confirmed i HAD 30 DAYS to cancel. Fast forward a week and half later, I call Josh back to follow-up on the delivery of the products and new contract price, and the conversation is as if it was taken place for the first time. He did not recall anything from our previous conversation, at that point I opted to cancel. He then stated, I was outside of the cancellation period and proceeded to offer a corporate number (which he blacked out in the pamphlet and we did not have, until now). After several phone calls to corporate, our contract cancellation was denied...even after a representative stated it was an option after an inspection. I later found out work orders were altered, misinformation was provided and the sales representative would would not be reprimanded. read more

I have had a technician at my home about four times due to non working cameras. I was told to send a written notice to cancel and remove the panels out of my walls and send them back. When their system was installed they took my existing system with them. I called the company to ask for my panels back that I paid for and was told they threw them away. Their rates are so much higher than other home security systems and their sales people lie. First off they came knocking on our door at 8pm to sell us their product. We had been looking for a security system so we thought why not. The sales guy said the contract was for 2 years...beware it is for "5". He told me that I'd been selected to be a promotional home and went on to explain that they were basically going to give me all the equipment for free. All I'd have to do is pay them $79 a month, which barely covers the cost they pay for your panel's connection to a mobile network and tell all my neighbors about the great service. He also added "Don't tell anyone because they'll be jealous." He told me that, because I'd been selected to receive this extra special promotional pricing, I had to have all the bells and whistles. This is motion detectors, CO2 detectors, glass break sensors, and automatic locks. After the sales guy left, I called Vivint sales and got quoted the same price, $79, for all these services. It wasn't a promotional price and I was told that I could pick and choose the services I wanted.
