Vivint was a great security system until you try to cancel when you move and the cameras are no longer working. Just don't do it ... sure their marketing is catchy and their Instagram is fun and makes them feel relatable .. they're not they are a SCAM! Despite paying off the costly equipment and running out the initial 60 month contract for monitoring they won't let you cancel service ... even after selling your home and the new owners taking over the equipment and paying for monitoring. Vivint will continue to siphon money from you despite countless calls emails conversations being told do this one thing and then we will cancel your acct ... it's always one more thing. Then when they've run out of hoops for you to jump through they say you have to cancel in writing even though your acct was a transfer not a cancellation. In the end after months of back and forth you will end up paying them to cancel just to be done. FRAUDULENT company unethical check BBB they have loads of this same type of complaint read more

Vivint is a HORRIBLE COMPANY-- very dishonest. They come to your door and push they are a Utah based company with local support. I used the service for 60 plus months to ride out my contract even though they have terrible customer service and tech support. I called to cancel the service serval times, only to speak to call agents who generally spoke very poor English. When telling them, I am cancelling they would act like they didn't understand, and put me on long call holds, then tell me they have to transfer me to the anther department. Apparently, this department did not exist as you would sit in queue until your phone ran out of battery. They continued to bill me even though they knew my equipment was pulled and not receiving their monitoring service for several months. I called my credit card company to shut down auto pay and file a dispute. They began calling and harassing me that I needed to pay the bill even though they could tell I was not getting their service any longer. The last call I received, I was dealing with a family death and explained that I didn't have time and they just need to cancel the service. I explained that I had canceled several times on a recorded line and to pull those recordings. They even admitted they had the call recording. Even after knowing I was in a family situation, they put me on hold only to come back and try to upsell me to stay. I had to just hang up. They are now sending me to collections for a service I have told them to cancel over and over and over.....SAVE YOURSELF!!! https://www.frontpointsecurity.com/blog/home-alarm-sales-better-business-bureau-issues-warning-on-company-after-name-change read more

A young man representing Vivint trespassed my property by climbing over the chain that is attached to my front picket fence at my driveway. He pounded, not knocked, my door. I ran to my front window and demanded him to leave my property and it took for me to threaten calling a deputy in order for him to comply and he was a real smart-ass and laughed as he climbed over it to leave...I immediately Googled Vivint and contacted the local corporate office which is a joke in itself. They recently have been sued, as it turns out, for misusing customers private credit information. I'm betting the prisoners are running the prison there. DO NOT jeopardize your safety with this company! read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. They rope people into insane contracts, get them to buy a ton of expensive equipment, finance that equipment, and then the equipment never works. after a year of constantly coming out to "fix" the equipment for free, they start to charge you for service visits. I got the system out of fear. I was being stalked and I wanted to feel safe. I signed everywhere they told me to and bought everything they told me too because I was terrified and I trusted them. I moved and wanted to cancel services, and our buyer did not want them (shocker) so for the last year and a half and now for 4 more months I have and will continue to pay for services I can't and wont use. They gave me no options other than paying large sums of money to pay off all the equipment that doesn't works and 50% of the remaining months in my contract. Vivant is a heartless scam. Stay away. read more

Horrible, if you cancel their monitoring service the hardware you have already purchased becomes useless. Worst scam ever.

I entered a contract and have paid for years now. When an issue came up with my AC not communicating with the panel, Vivent rep could NOT fix it. I had to disconnect it. After months of trying to get a credit on my monthly fee to monitor (which included the AC), I was unable - just flat gave up. Now my house was destroyed my Hurricane Milton - no cameras no internet, etc. I called to put a pause on my service (which I am allowed to do according to Contract). It has been months - they are still charging me the monthly fee to monitor despite 3 phone calls to put it on pause. Also - they RAISED The monthly fee without any phone call, warning and despite the monthly contract I entered. WORSE COMPANY EVER. CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS. I could go on and on re: the horrible service I have received from this company. These were just two issues. I would give them a zero if I could. read more

Horrible customer service/support all around. Being lied to by the salesman promising $1300 in compensation for switching from my current provider and never receiving it. Then he lied again saying he never said that even with emailed documentation stating $1300 to be given. If we could leave zero stars we would, they nickel and dime you at every turn even when their system is not working they want to charge you to tell you why its not working correctly, the we tried to cancel they make it very hard to cancel and require a letter and it took us 3 hrs on the phone to get answers on how to cancel then when we did get the letter with all the requirements they don't cancel for 30 days so another months bill, terrible service that doesn't even work well when it is "active" read more

First, they promised us continuous recording and continuous monitoring. Vivint does neither of those things. The price tag on the service they don't provide is quite hefty as well. Second, is ridiculous that they can only fix their equipment by using my cellphone. The account is under my husband's name, phone number, email, and verbal password. My husband does not have a cell phone, so the technician refused to fix their camera that is faulty. The early termination fee is worse than paying off the security hardware. We are stuck paying for faulty equipment until the contract is up. Speak of contract, Vivint swears to be the best service, yet our stuff was still broken into, and wasn't recorded when it was in full view of the camera. I HIGHLY DO NO RECOMMEND anyone use this service. read more

Vivint is the worse. Included in my purchase of the Vivint system was the in-person services of a technician if there was ever a problem with the security system or sensors. I am having a problem with a sensor. I called Vivint and was told I would have to pay $99.00 for a technician to evaluate the issue. Then I was told I would have to buy batteries. Then I was told I would have to troubleshoot the sensor it even though the sensor was positioned in such a way that it was out of my reach. Finally, I was told that a technician would arrive the next day three days at 9:00 am!!!! The first day has passed and, needless to say, no technician arrived. If no technician arrives, will the police arrive if the system is tripped? I know for sure that you do not receive a call as you would with ADT when the system is tripped. I have no confidence in Vivint at all which is exactly what you need when you have a security system. read more

Had service for 4 years 2 months - only discontinued when we moved to rental home. Was advised that not only was equipment under 5 year contract (totally understandable) but service also under 5 year contract. If I could put 0 I would. We received a free system when purchasing solar for our home, it was apparently included in the package. We told the sales person we did not want it as we already had an alarm company in our house. We were told by the sales person that it was free and we did not have to hook up the service, but he said since its free just have it put in and then if we ever wanted to hook up the system it would be there already. I asked all the right questions to make sure we would not be charged down the road and we were told adamantly that there was no contract and no charges. We told the salesperson that we did not want to be charged for a new contract at all, and was reassured multiple times that there was no contract and no future charges. So we went ahead and had them install the "Free System." They stated they needed me to sign stating that the "free system" was installed and again I asked why am I signing, I do not want to be stuck in a contract and again I was reassured that was not the case. Now fast forward 3 years later, they have been trying to bill me for services that I did not ask for nor agree to. When I was told that I signed for the agreement to have services, I stated I did not and to show me my signature on a contract, they produced a contract with my digital signature. I am now being billed for this "Free System" and they shut off me being able to monitor my doorbell and use of the app. This is some shady BS if you ask me and I refuse to pay for something I did not agree to. Beware they are scamming people into contracts. Not happy and refuse to be bullied and harassed into a contract I did not agree or sign for. I would NOT recommend this company! The salesman that showed up my doorstep late one evening I should have known to RUN! He lied from the beginning of them running my credit, I had electric service already but the next morning they had me switched over to another one of their companies they work with when I told them I did not want to, the prices he told me for the monthly cost snd the equipment was also a lie. My bill is high because I pay the company and for the equipment and it also shows up on my credit report as a $4,000 dollar credit loan when the equipment was still high but 1,9000 something dollars. I then only had the service for less then 6 months when the door lock stopped working and they said they would send me a new door for me to replace on my own. They never said anything about shipping back the old broken lock back to them until I notice I have an extra $249 dollar charge and they disabled my services so I couldn't even use the system that I still was paying on the equipment for. I called and they said it was an equipment charge. When I explained I didn't know how to do it they said I had to pay for a technician in the amount of $19.99! I explained how it wasn't even my fault and I only had the equipment for 3 months so why was I being charged to fix and troubleshoot my own appointment so I needed to speak to a supervisor. I was on hold for over 46mins and then the call disconnected. I called back and had to wait over 30 more minutes for the supervisor Liz to come on the line and say the charge is in their agreement and I will have to pay to have their technician come out to fix their broken equipment and don't worry it will be on my bill. God as my witness I have NEVER had such a horrible experience from a company in my entire 40 years of life. I would not tell anyone I love or even an enemy to come and deal with the scams, fraud, lies and horrible customer service. Is the device panel nice, yes. Is the app nice, yes but let you miss a payment or anything is wrong with your account and they wipe away all the access anyway leaving the entire system useless, be careful with these people. My issue is that Vivint has let me down yet again. My installation was in 2023 and not noticed until this weekend by my neighbor that their backyard is part of my backyard camera's capture. It was not noticed by me nor them until this weekend. Due to vivint's policy, to have this adjusted I need to pay the service fee. Regardless of how much time has passed, this should not have been an issue to begin with. The installation technician should have been aware that he placed the angle that violated my neighbor's privacy. I am not trained in this and did not even think to look outside of my backyard to see if anyone's home was within the capture, but it should be a common practice for the installer. Like I stated, this should never have been an issue to begin with but because of the tech's negligence I now have to pay an additional fee to have his error corrected-regardless of the time that has passed Vivint should recognize this error made by their team and not punish your customer! To add to this, the technician who did the installation was extremely unprofessional and engaged in extremely inappropriate conversation with my young teenage son, commenting that with so many legos in his room, he'll "never get laid". Vivint continues to let me down! read more

This company lies about literally EVERYTHING! 5 year contract we didn't know we were signing. 1400 to end the contract before the 5yrs. If you cancel the service they will pretend like you cancelled for a few months and still charge you then start calling you all of sudden ever day only to say oh yea you did cancel then try to offer you more stuff and give you a lecture only to finally say well you have a contract so you can't cancel (and that's how I found out I had a contract) then they said they would waive the late fees if I would start paying again and waive the 99 fee for the service man to come fix the equipment that was easily broken for the longest to begin with from the time it was installed but then after they fixed the equipment and I was about to pay the monthly bill not only did they not waive the late fees but they added the 99 fee for the person to come over and fix the equipment they didn't do a good job installing in the first place so because I'm not giving in and paying 1400 to cancel a phantom contract let alone over 300 they currently want me to pay it'll probably hit my credit but I rather keep fighting them than pay because I hate professional scammers read more

I have been with this company for years and over the last two they have been charging me for someone else account then when they finally see that expect me to pay a past due balance even though they have been over charging me the last two years. Not to mention that when I canceled service in 2015 they continued to charge me for two extra years and never even refunded me and then states since they been over charging me again they will credit 247.06 but still haven't. The last straw is now my door lock is broke and they expect me to wait after troubleshooting for over an hour to send a new lock and then install myself. This is ridiculous and why I use COVE at my other addresses and soon will use for this one as well if they don't get their crap together. Not to mention they took the equipment I paid for out of my rental property and then want me to sign a contract for monitoring in order to replace what they stole. I'm truly over it T Tip for consumers: Find another company over the years they have become unreliable and a rip off with no refund. VIVINT is a scam!!! I'd give a zero star if I could! They took money from us and upgraded us when we were told it would be free because they don't use the old system anymore. Now they can't trace back who did what and there is no record of a conversation being made with us which makes no sense at all when they record all calls! Somebody is lying and covering up something! If you have other choices in your area you should chose something else. Inherited a system from previous owners 12 years ago this year decided to upgrade panel, thermostat and one sensor(~$900 in advance). Technician was polite and nice but spent almost all of the time on his phone. He was not educated on what our current system had and when he left out internal basement sensor was not working, secondary panel was not working, sensor for sliding door was only half replaced and turns out our thermostat is not functioning. I hate that "zero stars" isn't an option with these reviews because they don't even deserve one star. I purchased a Vivint system/service in 2017 when I was in a situation that I felt warranted extra security for my home and family. I paid for the alarm service and had two cameras and a doorbell camera installed. I had issues with the system from the start. The camera only worked occasionally and never worked when I really needed them to, like when my neighbor shot an arrow through my dogs chest and then came into my backyard and yanked the arrow out of her. None of it was recorded because the "system was down". It would have helped my case against him had I had actual footage of him attempting to kill my dog, but luckily I had another neighbor witness the crime. I've had packages stolen from my porch and items stolen from my driveway. Every single time something had happened, the cameras were not working. I have literally never caught any of these instances on camera because the system is unreliable and never worked properly or as promised. I have tried to cancel my service multiple times but was told some ungodly price that I would have to pay to get out of my contract. When I moved in 2020 I was told that if I moved service and had new equipment installed, my contract would not be extended and I would be able to cancel the service once my equipment was paid off. I paid the equipment off in April and called last week to finally cancel the service and was told that I would have to buy out my contract for $747 because I was still under contact for 18 more months. I explicitly told the person I was speaking to that I did not want to pay that and that I would review my contract and call back. On Friday I received an email saying I was going to be charged $747 as a one time payment with no other explanation. I called to tell them I did not authorize that payment but it was "after hours", so I started a chat with Vivint through their website and was told they couldn't help me and that I needed to call and speak to a representative but before I could actually speak to someone, my account was charged $788. $747 to buy out my contract plus another $40 for another month of service! I called back today to request a refund and ask that someone review the recorded calls because I am so sick of being lied to. This company is a scam, uses manipulation and dishonest business tactics to get you stuck in an endless contract that protects them and allows them to keep taking your money but does not hold them to any kind of standard to provided the service you pay for. I have been dealing with the awful company for 5 years now, giving them my money for nothing and they say I have to pay $747 more or keep paying monthly for another year and a half. It's honestly sickening. Stay far, far away! Do not believe a word they say and do not sign any contract with Vivint. The are THE WORST company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Hello, The vivint app is very slow. No matter how good my connection is. Half the time the cameras will not pull up the feed and if they do, there is a good possibility there will be no sound. Playback almost never works. It will either buffer endlessly, play the feed very choppy, or once again no sound. This has been an issue for over 2 years and I'm locked in a 5 year equipment contract. In the contract, we aren't allowed to cancel unless we buy out all the equipment which is thousands of dollars instead of Vivint just coming and taking the equipment back. I can't even cancel the vivint monitoring service and just continue to pay the equipment off seperately. They make you keep the monitoring service as long as you owe on the equipment which is absolutely insane! Imagine financing a car and you pay $200 a month for someone to come do an inspection of the engine for preventative measures. Later, you decide you don't want the car but understand you still have to pay your car payment regardless but you dont want someone to come look at your engine anymore. Then they tell you, as long as you don't own the car, you HAVE to continue to pay for this inspection you don't even want. How insane does that sound? This is a monthly service that is paid seperately from the equipment. Why can I not cancel a service I don't want to use anymore but continue to pay for the equipment? I can assure you everyone I talk to, I steer them very far from Vivint. Whatever money they are making off of me in this monthly monitoring fee, I assure you they are losing in recommendations when others are shopping for a security system. read more

DO NOT HIRE VIVINT as a security system for your home. Customer service is catastrophic, every time when you need to speak with one of this representatives you will feel miserable, they are not at the same page when you ask a question, each one has different explanation and keep transfer you from department to another department. Another negative reviews about Vivint is the force you to keep on file a credit or debit card that you can manage in your account, but you are not able to delete it, if you e=want to delete your card they won't allow you to do to it because it is mandatory you replace for another credit or debit card. Also, if you want to to cancel the service you have to pay a fee for early termination. When I hired Vivint I was in the "grace period" this is a 3 days they offer you in order to make sure you like the service, equipments, etc; but fortunately they gave me 2 months and I decided not to continue with them; and after my first call in order to cancel this was the point when my nightmare started. I spent more than a week trying to cancel my service bacause they want to keep you until your agreement stars and they hang up your phone call, customer service are rude and never call you back, they keep offering you different options to keep the service with them. Keep in mind after your agreement finishes and if you decide not to stay with Vivint, you WON"T be able to use the equipments in other company or use in your house no more, this is way to keep you paying if you want a service., and every time you make a change in your service or account they never send you an email or text. Vivint refuses to refund us for the last 14 months we have paid and say "we never canceled" when clearly we did!!
