The beef patty had a good sear but wasn't real juicy. Apparently the side of the day changes and today was watermelon which I thought was weird. It wasn't as bad as I thought because, despite everything being served together, the burger and the watermelon remained fairly separated.

Here's what I can tell you... this is the equivalent of the Mediterranean chipotle and it's a stunner. The shawarma, falafel, and all the various toppings like baba ghanoush, hummus, tabouli salad, cucumber yogurt salad, and tahini salad were flavorful, fresh, and a great complement to any of the dishes. The house made baklava was good, though my wife thought it was a little dry for her taste. I loved it. The crew here were also very patient, especially since we had a ton of questions. We'll be back here soon and my wife has already been back several times.

Overall the establishment is clean, and fast service. I have tried the ultimate nachos and they…read morewere pretty filling. They come with chili, cheese, olives, jalapeños, tomatoes, sour cream, and avocado. The soups are ok just a bit water down for my taste, the baked potato soup is ok and not that many potatoes in them. The chicken and dumplings has good flavor but again not that many dumplings. The grilled chicken sandwich is ok but but need a bit more seasoning for my taste. The best salad that is on point is the southwest chicken salad, and their house dressing. Over all a bit over price but good healthy options for lunch.

Hi neighbors. My wife and I had dinner at Elgin Public House downtown on Friday, October 23, and…read morepaid part of the bill with their $50 Groupon. I wanted to share what happened so nobody else gets surprised. The service was cold and rude from the moment we sat down. Not sure where their hostility was coming from. I still tried to enjoy myself since this was literally my birthday dinner. When I presented the Groupon, the server kept telling me there was a restriction "in the terms somewhere," even though the $50 voucher has none. It literally says you can use it any day. They eventually accepted it. Our card was run before we could review the check. Afterward, we found a $13.38 charge labeled "8+ Gratuity (20%)" on a receipt that says "Guest Count: 2." Staff told us the owner requires 20% gratuity on all Groupon orders. That isn't mentioned anywhere in the Groupon terms or on the menu. I'm happy to tip, and I want it to be my choice. See, Grumpy Goat consists of two indoor dining areas and an outdoor seating area within a slightly larger building also that has a locker room, golf shop, and meeting room. The food ranges from pub food, to sandwiches, to flatbreads, to great steaks. Both times, the bar area was louder and people tend to focus on drinks and appetizers there. There's a separate dining room beyond the bar area where full dinners seem more common. Given that my 2 trips were in November and December, don't have a good sense for the outside area. I could just see that there are several tables overlooking the golf course. On certain nights, they have live music. Great variety of drinks, appetizers, sandwiches/burgers, and entrees. Can go inexpensive, or can get a filet mignon and spent a lot. Filling choices. Prices are quite reasonable.
