This store is a straight up God-send for anyone who needs to be gluten free! They have every kind of gluten free product I've ever wanted, including vegan meat and dairy alternatives which are hard to find without gluten in them from my experience at least. They carry Katz, Smart Baking Co, Lakanto, Glutino, Simple Mills, Canyon Bakehouse, Schar, and soooo many more GF companies I couldn't list them all. This store is a hidden gem in the western suburbs. I was looking for a certain Bob's Red Mill product recently and Nutrition Network was the only store that carried it. They were out of stock of the item but they put my name on a list and advised me when it came in. They very cheerfully held it until the weekend. This place has been around since 1987 and I'm amazed at its staying power. I mean, it's a health food store in a run-down strip mall in the far suburbs of Chicago. And, to top it off, it's next to a trailer park. Nutrition Network has a good array of staple vegan items (including tofu, some mockmeats, and so forth) at good prices. Almost everything I saw here is at the same price you'd pay in a traditional supermarket. I bought some brown rice crackers and some spelt bread. While the crackers are available at grocery stores, spelt bread certainly isn't, so I was happy to be able to find it at all. If this place had more vegan goods (how about fresh seitan or Daiya cheese?) and maybe some vegan baked goods from local vendors, I'd give it another star. As it stands, this place is pretty solid. read more

Many years after my frist review and the customer service is still great here! They now have many refrigerated items - milk alternatives, gluten free bread, donuts, waffles and pancakes to name a few. They are just so nice here and there's a great selection! read more

I came here because my co-worker told me about where she got some tea that I had been looking for. Dropped in for tea and ended up shopping with a full grocery cart. Wow, this place is perfect if you're looking for all your organic, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, sugar-free products, and want to save a buck or two. You will find a lot of things you may find at Whole Foods or Mariano's or Trader Joe's but without the hefty cost. For me I don't mind the 30 min drive to come here. They're very friendly and have a lot of fun products. I will definitely be going back to pick up form dairy-free yogurt and my soft drinks, nutrition bars, and eggs. I will be going back shortly to look for some paleo ingredients to do some cooking and baking. I love teas, and they have such a wonderful huge selection. They probably have as many chocolates as Trader Joe's too. Looking forward to another trip for some real food to keep me sane. read more

This place is my go to spot for all my supplement needs, natural remedies and non allergenic foods. They have a pretty solid collection of items with variety and I always feel like they do their best to keep things moderately inexpensive. Lets face it organic and all natural is always going to be the most expensive way to eat but their sales are great. I got a huge jar of pure coconut oil the other day for only 10 dollars and as I've shopped at places like Trader Joes and Whole Foods and gotten less for about the same I consider it a win. My coworker suggested this place since I recently went on a gluten free diet. I am thrilled she told me about it. They have a wonderful selection of gluten free flours that are reasonably priced. They don't cost an arm and a leg like they do at some other stores. I was excited to find Better Batter flour mix for cheaper than they sell it online. I love to shop locally when I have the chance and since I live in the area Nutrition Network is about as local as it gets. First of all, they cater to the gluten free crowd, I am thankfully not Celiac, but for those of you that are, this is a fantastic spot! They have many of the brands Whole Paycheck carries but at a much more reasonable price. Gluten free items include but aren't limited to: chips,crackers,bagels, bread, cereal, cereal bars, pasta, pizza, ready-made meals, and several soups and other convenience items. For those of you that aren't celiac they have other items as well, they carry Tree of Life brand (a smaller local organic company), as well as smaller organic lesser known brands. Although supplements and vitamins comprise about 50% of the floor space, it is interesting that food is actually where most customers seem to be spending their money. They offer small shopping carts (a plus for me when shopping with the kiddo) as well as baskets and plenty of parking. The girls who usually work the front have grown up quite a bit in the years since I started shopping here, but they are very knowledgeable if a bit "teenagery". A previous Yelper mentioned overhearing a conversation about a customer which I found to be a bit alarming. But hey, cut them some slack, they have some growing up to do. Maybe they just need some better customer service training or maybe they are just typical teenagers commiserating about a customer they found off-putting.I personally have never had less than stellar customer service when I've been there, so I can only review for myself. The only minus for this place is the lack of "fresh" options. They do carry eggs, and meat and cheese as well as other dairy. But I wish they could get some produce like potatoes, onions and carrots so I wouldn't have to run to Ultra foods just for that stuff. Love this store.Absolutely, the prices are considerably lower than Whole Foods or other general grocery stores. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly - and willing to offer help during your visit. I have been shopping here for probably 10 years, and I can not find a better alternative for all my family's needs. I lived in Winfield for a number of years and I never knew this store existed. I found it by mistake driving through the parking lot. I am glad I did. They have about everything and not those high priced items you find at Whole Foods. The women that work there are so helpful and are knowledgeable especially Sue. Great place. Beware this place will not allow you to do a even exchange on anything that you've used, even if you were repulsed by the smell. Not 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Fruitful yield along with any other store always allows you to return ANYTHING even if used. The one worker lady was flabbergasted that I even was asking since I used it and had the nerve to say why didn't you smell it first. Oh please. This is a great store with excellent prices and I especially appreciate the many soy-free items. Just about everything I buy is priced $1 to $3 less than at Ultra, Jewel or Dominick's (when those stores carry the identical item). The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the store can sometimes special order an item, so ask if you don't see what you want. If a regularly stocked item is out, they will take your name and phone number and call you when it comes in. They use distinctive stickers on the shelf to point out gluten-free items, which saves lots of time. The store is located in a well maintained strip mall. Winfield is a "bedroom community" suburb which has very low rates of both violent crime and property crime; customers can feel comfortable and safe shopping at Nutrition Network and the surrounding stores any time. I have stopped in this store on and off for years when I'm in the area and have never really solicited help - just shopped for what I needed and left. Today was a different story. I WAS in the area and NEEDED some help to find a few things. The small footprint store had at least 5 workers on the floor and 1 was at the register and the others putting out stock. In short, they need to rethink the words CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE and really understand that small stores need to create an EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE THAT CENTERS ON THE CUSTOMER NOT BUSINESS LOGISTICS. Example: the cashier was on the phone, on hold with the cash register support company, while trying to listen to my question and once her call was again engaged, she decided to walk away and speak with the person on the phone. Now I am not unreasonable. I understand that a cash register is an important device. BUT - again with all the help in the store it was clear that customers were SECOND IN IMPORTANCE. I have created lot of training around Exceptional Customer Service for Fortune 100 companies and I do know thing or two. So my opinion is that you should NOT expect the same level of service you would get at a whole foods, or even a Fruitful Yield for example. read more

Awesome store a mile from my house. I was so excited when they opened and we have been going ever since. The store is located in an upscale mall, that is an easy and out to major roads. Lots of parking ! They carry as much as Whole Foods, without the meat, fish and produce. They have the essentials and they staff makes you feel at home. And if you want some particular item they may not have, they will order it. This is the place to shop for when my vegan friends come in from out of town, or my daughter who is lactose intolerant, to my friend who can't eat gluten. I can serve all of them foods they eat and tolerate. And at Thanksgiving time you can order a free range and organic turkey for your dinner. I've been driving out of my way to patronize Nutrition Network for years, and while I can't fault the store for the selection they carry, and for the fact that they're always adding new items to their inventory, I don't know if I want to continue as their patron. Today, while I was in the store shopping, I heard a sales clerk and a woman in the back room making fun of someone who was making a return. I have dealt with so many very nice, conscientious, and knowledgeable salespeople in the past at this store. Too bad the staff members I overheard today felt it was appropriate to mock a customer. Wise up folks, times are still tough for many! Your customers don't deserve that kind of disrespect when they follow your return procedures and have gotten a bad product. First, it is a pleasant little trailer park across the street, nestled next to the prairie path, that has been around for years and years...with many seniors living there. A judgment about the store because of its proximity to a "trailer park" is rude and pejorative. The store itself is very nice and has expanded in recent years. Okay so I grew up in the area (I am now 32) and I had no idea that this store existed! I have only been in there a couple times, however, I have this to say...it has all the stuff that I want from Whole Foods (well most) and not a bunch of stuff I don't. Which makes it smaller and less overwhelming and also easier to find what I need. And the prices are phenomenal! Whole Foods (while I do love the store) is so expensive in so many things! Not a full service grocery store, so no fresh produce. But they have supplements, frozen and refrigerated food, housewares, ect. Better selection of Paleo foods than Whole Foods. Looks like a new owner has taken over management here, there seems to be an increase in product selection. That's a good thing as it saves driving all over the county to get what you need. Prices are a little higher than some other chains but to be expected for a small shop. I for one am willing to pay a little more for convenience, selection and service. As for returning an item after use? Give me a break! That's a sales tool Walmart uses to break small shops. Who do you think pays for the return, Walmart? I'll bet it it's the manufacturer. They may do it for Walmart (or a similar big chain), but it's a real hassle for a small business. But, it's your money, spend it where you're happy! read more

The only items I wished they carried aside from thier already fantastic selection are fresh produce. That being said, they have the best prices of any natural store around. They also stock a wonderful assortment of homeopathy, skin care, frozen foods, dry goods, laundry and dish soap, children's products, etc...We are thankful to live near this place.
