Carniceria and Supermarket Torres Fresh Market Taqueria - 5310 W 25th St, Cicero, IL…read more Visited on October 31, 2024, and was disappointed by the taqueria experience. The service was unorganized and slow, with several staff members crowded behind the counter, seeming to bump into each other and struggling to keep things flowing smoothly. The confusion impacted the quality of service, which could definitely use improvement. I ordered two tacos--one carne asada and one chicharrón in green sauce. The flavors were average, but the portion sizes felt small for the price. They use very small tortillas, which doesn't justify the high cost. I paid $10 for two tacos and a small horchata, which seemed excessive for what I received. This place has potential if they make improvements: better service coordination, reasonable pricing, and larger tortillas for their tacos would make a big difference. As it stands, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

Torres is a great but small supermarket. While it cannot compare to the local Cermak Produce in…read morevariety, it's still a great reliable store with fresh produce and fantastic prices and sales. It's deli and meat dept are small but with a great turnover. The meat is just as fresh and well cut as Cermak Produce. But the best part of Torres is it's tiny indoor taquería run and serviced by an all women staff at the time of this review. Everything is made from scratch and right in front of you (if you like to sit at the counter.) The typical americanized Mexican food is made here (tacos, burritos and the like) with daily and weekly plate and combo specials advertised with large bilingual signs and photos. The only bad thing is if you aren't paying in cash you have to go pay at the customer service counter. For whatever reason, the restaurant itself doesn't have a card swipe. Boo-urns, I say. Parking is kinda a problem. While the small parking lot right next to the store usually fills up during busy peaks not many people are aware that there is another parking lot midway down the block. The problem is not many folks are willing to walk the measly 25 feet of sidewalk to the front door (present company included) so during peak hours the tiny parking lot is a hassle. So if you want to visit a smaller grocery store with amazing prices and grab a bite to eat, Torres is the place to be.

When I first got food from Pete's Market in Oak Park, I was quite impressed. The food was delicious. I liked the set up. I saw they had a lot of variety and appealing options for food. The grocery store is clean and well-organized. The staff have been attentive. I definitely got a family vibe from the store. They even have a dining area. When I ate the baklava there for the first time, it brought light to my eyes and joy to my mouth. I have enjoyed their fruit produce a lot as well. My favorite food from the store has been their fruit produce and their hot food section, but they have a lot of other awesome food as well. I have not been eating a lot of sweets, but their baked goods look delicious. Their veggies also look fantastic. I have gotten celery there that I liked a lot. Pete's Market in Oak Park even has foods I have had trouble finding in other stores, e.g., cans of soy milk. The lamb they have in their hot food section is out of this world. I have not even seen lamb in other grocery stores as part of hot foods/prepared foods. Overall, Pete's Market is one of my favorite grocery stores. I have found myself craving their food multiple times. When I am not there, I have thought about and looked forward to when I could go there again, like a special treat. I would definitely recommend the food here to almost anyone.

No way Ever on any day is it 2 stars. It has a large private parking lot free for customers and also street parking with signs clearly marked. The store isn't a modern sleek design ; that's the complete charm of it: the inside decoration and how well it's maintained is impressive. Has a lot of charm in this store. From the extensive deli made salad items and the large bakery items. You have to try the multi grain fresh croissants., with the tuna salad ! Wow. Coke Zero 12 pk was $9.99 which I'm seeing them at all crazy prices now. They had many deals posted throughout the store: it's well stocked and offers a very international variety to the community. Impressive. Good prices with many items! Nice butcher shop as well. They were friendly and simple check out. Fantastic store to have in the town and offering a lot! I'm definitely going back. It's in my top 2 favorites right now. Located on the NorthEast corner of Cermak & 50th Avenue. Between 49-50.

They use to have a butcher counter and that's now a cooler for cottage cheese and Pillsbury crescent rolls. They use to have a liquor department, that had a security guard checking ID's when you walk in. That's completely gone. Use to have more choices than most now you're lucky to find things in stock. You use to be able to walk in and walk out with a simple sign in of your phone app. That is also gone. Isles are empty all over the place. Many things always out of stock like milk, water, bread and other basics. The meat selection is pretty gross. No idea where they are getting it from but it's not a local farm. Ground beef looks soupy in packages. Chicken is tough and full of veins. Even bagged shrimp is funky. Then they're's the employees. Everyone is running around with carts filling what I can only imagine is online orders. No one working the store for customers. Usually only 1 register open ever and they expect you to use self checkout. Food prices use to be decent. Not real grocer store values but not 7-11 either. You have to really watch for sales but when they happen nothing is in stock and a sign goes up stating that they are out. Seems that expiration dates are very short on food too. Like the meats, fruits and vegetables and baked goods. You have to watch out for that as we've bought many things that are already expired. Big disappointment, they have no local phone number. So if you have an issue with an item, or trying to find out if something is in stock you can't. You have to go in person for everything. It's a nice fairly clean store but the roof is always leaking. Every time there is rain, there are buckets in isles. It's a guarantee. In short, they need to decided if they are a real grocery store or an online retailer. They need to stop changing their model of what they are inside every 6 months. They need to know the communities they are in before popping up. It's the most disconnected business I've ever shopped in. It seems they are just a hub for the online retail market with a side of convenience store.

They have a nice cafe restaurant in front of the store, and many ready made take away food items for visitors and workers at the hospital. That's amazing. The prices are really good as well, which adds even more value . Good prices. Clean environment. Accurately priced items that equal Same at checkout in the computer. So you are not mislead here and pay the price they list it at. I appreciate that, another value. Many supermarkets make the "sales" and all that so tricky ; then the computers aren't accurate to match and you end up paying a lot more than you ever expected. Hard to manage a budget that way. But I didn't find that here. They had very good prices on Eggs, Chicken Drum sticks, Libby's Canned Vegetables. Topi Chico was priced well. I've noticed El Milagro tortilla prices going up, I think the days of 26 cent a dozen are way over. Too bad, it was great while it lasted . Check out was as simple as the shopping, I definitely recommend this store. It's off the Metra train on Oak Park in Berwyn. Lots to do in this area.
