I was looking for a quick place in Elgin because I was going to see a play downtown. Wasn't sure what I wanted either, but I generally like Greek fast food places. Stopped in for dinner with my wife. I got the cheeseburger special (fries and a drink). I will say it was good, but a bit heavy on the added mustard. Most places go heavier on the ketchup side, but this was mustard heavy. Fries were good. Wife got the Greek chicken. She never finishes her meal so I always get to comment on both dishes. I have to say the Greek chicken was outstanding. Really flavorful. I had her wing, leg and part of the breast. The rice was tender and yummy. Small piece of garlic bread but was also good. Greek potatoes were really good too. I made a mistake. I should have ordered what she had. It was that good. I wish I took a photo, but the food was devoured so quickly. The service was long, but Thats to be expected when you order chicken dishes. Only two other people in the restaurant and both had the Greek chicken as well. I want to go back, but it's too far unless I decide to take on another play in the area. Fast service. Food was always hot and trash. I mainly go for the hotdog specials which is two dogs fries and drink. Their burgers are good especially the mushroom burger. There is a service charge if you use the card but if pay cash you do not have the Cc surcharge. Service very friendly fast and I am very happy with my meals I eaten there. From the outside the building looks very plain but when you come in the restaurant is very clean and they have lots of tables and booths. They serve Pepsi products in the fountain machine and have lemonade and other beverages. My husband ordered the Bacon double cheeseburger, I had a bite and it was amazing! I highly recommend you try one! He ordered the combo which included fries and a drink. I ordered the gyros sandwich and I loved it! The meat was cooked perfectly and they really give you a lot yum and the sauce has more of a sour cream like taste to it and in my opinion it taste better than any other Tzatziki sauces that I have tried so far. We ended our meal with a big piece of Baklava and it was so tasty and delicious and was not dry at all. so amazing! The bathrooms have baby changing tables and there are also high chairs in the dining room. So this is definitely a family friendly restaurant. Been coming here a long time. Food is good mostly, however their prices and proportion are easy out of whack, even in this economy. Regular cheeseburger meal now $13. I would have no problem other than the burger pattie itself is about the size of a regular mcdonald's cheeseburger. They oversize the bun so you think you're getting more. Don't be fooled. Tomatoes are always horrible. Fries good, but cold. You'd think for $13 and prime time at lunch they'd offer hot fries. All their prices are very high. We go here often. It's family owned and both the family and staff is just wonderful. We're never disappointed by the food or the service, which is why it's our go-to. My daughter found Jester's on Google recently when we were taking a road trip to Wisconsin. Stopped for lunch and we really loved everything that we tried. I've been going to Jester's for over 20 years and I always enjoyed it there. They are pleasant there and food usually good. The chicken fingers always had a good beer battered breading, which I thought used to be hand battered, but seemed overlooked a little, so they were kind of dry. Since they always had a good flavor, so I always hoped they would be better the next time. So, today I go in and order two orders of chicken fingers and I see the man putting them in the microwave after he cooks them in the fryer. I ask they about it and the response I got is that they always do this and have always done this. Well, that explanins why they are overcooked and dry and these were exactly the same once I got home. How can a restaurant not know how to cook something so simple as chicken fingers? If I wanted some microwaved food I would have stayed home. Sadly, I will not be back at this restaurant. I'm a jesters repeat customer, these rib tips where just barely edible. I have to try and be fair, I'm from Texas originally so, I'm kind of a bbq snob. I've had the best of the best and these are like what you might feed your puppy. Lol! But, I think for a normal person that doesn't know any better . These tips might be good. I love supporting local businesses so , I will be back. In the past I've gotten the burgers, fish sandwiches and Italian beefs . All on point!
