Many of us, in our group, meet up here every few months or so. Beers are cold, food has always been good (great pub burgers for me) and the service has always been good, especially for a large group that just rolls in unannounced. I came here with a group of co-workers for lunch. It was a neat open space with a welcoming atmosphere and a large bar. They looked like they had a pretty great beer menu, but alas we were all on the clock. Service was attentive, and everyone enjoyed the food they ordered -- salads, wraps, and sandwiches. I ordered the chicken avocado sandwich, which was very messy to eat but also quite yummy. I loved their french fries. This would be a really fun spot to watch a game. read more

Absolutely ridiculous wait times. How does lunch on a Wednesday, with only 1 other party in the place, take over an hour for food to come out, when all we got was wraps! Horrifyingly slow service, including almost 20 minutes just to get our drinks. Got our orders wrong as well. Will not be back :( read more

One of the best greek salads I've had. Everything was so fresh and the grilled chicken was SO good. The portion itself is enough for 2 people. I had the chance to visit Niko's tavern Elgin over the weekend for dinner. I arrived and sat at the bar and I'd like to start off this review with the service and drinks. They were wonderful, the beer was cold and reasonably priced and the service was good. The bartenders were engaging and makes you feel at home. They asked if we were hungry and provided us with menus. I did a quick scan of the menu and I went with the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with fries and my buddy went with the steak sandwich. We waited for our food and I was taking in the atmosphere and it wasn't too loud and not too quite it was just right. A+ so far. Then the food arrived shortly after and I took a bite of my fries and they were fresh and crispy. Good job there then I went in for a bite of the wrap and it was terrible. The chicken was under seasoned and the chicken was cut in a way that was just a bit too big to be bite size so it was like a square chunk of Styrofoam with underwhelming buffalo sauce. It wasn't good and I was kinda expecting fried chicken tenders or some type of breaded chicken in the wrap but it was just plain baked or boiled chicken that was not seasoned at all. It was very lackluster and sucked. I asked my buddy how his steak sandwich was and he said it was so dry that he only ate a few pieces of steak and didn't touch the bread cause it was so dry. So when going to Niko's for me the drinks and service were the main show and the food was just not good. read more

If you live anywhere near here and haven't stopped in I have to ask why not.? The previous owners who operated at this location under a different name had issues and lacked experience. That's all been fixed and the two cannot even be compared. The menu is simple but with something for everyone, if you can't find something that sounds great you're probably a vegan. Burgers, chicken, steaks, prime rib, and so much more. Every visit has been spot on cooked the way it was ordered hot and amazingly good. The bar is well stocked with everything including allocated and hard to find bourbons. The drinks are consistent and no short pours. Management is always on site and pays attention to every detail. If you need lunch and a beer or have a family of 10 looking to get together for dinner this is a must try place. You absolutely will not be disappointed. read more

From the get go, we were not greeted AT ALL from anyone. Nobody at the hostess stand, nobody at the bar, nobody on the floor that we could see. We read the entire chalkboard special menu next to hostess stand and when we hadn't been greeted by then, we decided to seat ourselves. We chose a location where we were in plain sight, easily found and we waited patiently for someone to approach us. Another family came in about 4 minutes later and they were greeted right away, server had menus in hand. Then she walked RIGHT PAST US, no greeting, and scurried off to the kitchen. We saw that a bartender had appeared behind the bar; she had about three patrons in front of her. An elderly person walked in, sat down on the other side of us and was greeted within moments. Got his drink order. Received his drink. Server took his order. Still, no greeting for us. The family put in their whole order (5 or 6 people there) and THEN we were greeted with a "I'll just go get you some menus" so then we got menus. Decided what we wanted to eat and drink immediately and our meal included cups of soup. Our drinks came about 8 minutes later (a poured beer and a canned drink from the bar took THAT long!) and then our food didn't come out. We killed time by having our own conversation and then started wondering what had happened to our soups. A whole 45 minutes later, our soups came with our meals. Uh uh. I hate that. And you should too. Soups are just like an appetizer and every server knows that. So now our sandwiches are getting cold and we have to eat our soups before THEY get too cold. We were almost done with our meals before we were asked if everything looked/tasted ok. The family of 6 left. The 3 patrons at the bar now had 4, the elderly person was done eating and had their cheating and a 4 top was now eating some appetizers. Two people on the floor and THIS is slammed to you? Then we flagged our server down and asked for the check. She left without prebussing the table. Then disappeared. 5+ minutes later she came back with a "can I get you another round?" While clearing the plates and bowls. No. We will NOT be back. read more

Decided to go here after my son's kindergarten performance on a Tuesday night. It was okay just not great. Service was OK. The waitress did not notice when she dropped off the appetizers that we did not have any plates. So I got up and took some from another table. We ordered the nachos with ground beef. it was not really seasoned with any Mexican spices, so it tasted like a hamburger to be completely honest. not bad just not really nachos. The BBQ pulled pork sliders were not good. Despite the BBQ sauce the meat was dry and I'm fairly certain a little burned. The BBQ sauce was good. The kids Texas toast grilled cheese had single slice of cheese on it. Way over priced for that. The fries were good. my son's chicken strips were good. The really undesirable part of the night was when a song came on that had clear lyrics that said something like "god damn sh*t" and it was so pronounced the mom at the table next to me, and I both look at each other horrified. Went for lunch. Had the potato skins for an app and they were so good. Came with a side of ranch and sour cream. My boyfriend had the Ruben and I had the sliders. Both were delicious! We stop in here from time to time after riding, and for the most part it's pretty good. A bit overpriced. Love the feel of the atmosphere. I do have issue with the, and yes I know this sounds petty, but with the mashed potatoes they serve with the prime rib. I don't think they're real. I'm pretty sure they're from a box. Or at least the day I was there, they were. And to serve such good prime rib with such lackluster mashed potatoes is a travesty. And that was extremely disappointing. The other negative is the political signs out front. I don't really want to know who they vote for and where they stand on issues and considering now that I do, I'm actually not sure we'll be back at all. Keep the politics at home. Forget driving to the city, check out Niko's Tavern as a local spot for a night out. Great variety of beers on tap and a nice surprise of hard to find whiskeys. Despite a few unfair reviews below, I really like the broad menu selection. There is a wide variety of daily specials. Whether it's their fish fry, Taco Tuesday specials, or prime rib this is a solid place to eat alone or with your family. There's also a down to earth atmosphere and very attentive staff. Pros: Food was quite good! My parents love the chicken finger salad there. The chicken avocado sandwich was solid, chicken was seasoned well and the ranch dressing was really good. Some of the menu items identify which bun is used and they thought it was weird that I asked which this one comes with (bc it didn't say) so I asked for a pretzel bun and they accommodated. All staff were super friendly! Cons: We came on a Wednesday and everything took longer than we would expect. I understand places are short staffed but over 30-min for a bottle of wine (and a water) is much too long. We waited a long time for kids menus and then after that to place our order (which we knew what we wanted within minutes). The whole process seemed long and drawn out with a half full restaurant and little kids at what seems like a kid friendly place. P.S. they have cool big bouncy balls at the entrance... be prepared to pay $1 per ball! But, they were super nice about getting quarters and helping the kids with the machine. read more

I had $16 very average burger, people were friendly, the evening was great and we sat outside. Very comfortable! But then they add a 3% surcharge on a $40 meal for paying with a credit card. Came in here with my son. It was okay. Server was less than attentive(probably because of short staff). Screwed up my son's order, but not once did the server apologize. I still.provided a good tip for him, because I'm guessing he was having a bad day. All he had to do to make it right was a simple, "I'm sorry." This experience was so bad we won't ever go to a Nikkos again. I know that places are understaffed right now but this was ridiculous. There were more empty tables by a 2 to 1 margin and the service still sucked. Food came out cold, couldn't even get a second round of drinks for the table witch turned out ok because of the $8 draft beer. Can't even tell you how incredible this place is, and how clutch for our community. When our Burlington Central Rockets Basketball team advanced to the sectional finals last week the tickets sold out in only minutes. With many students, families and fans stuck without a seat, Frank from Niko's quickly reached out and generously offered to stream the game live on all 18 TVs, including the huge video wall!!! What a great atmosphere with even better food, drinks and service. Don't even get me started on how good the rigatoni is. Got a table pretty quickly on what was a busy night at Niko's. Unfortunately no one ever came to help us. We sat at our table for 20 minutes. Countless servers, and the manager, walked by numerous times. Not one person offered to help. Tried getting the attention of one of the servers. They seemed uninterested in serving us. First time, and the last time, we'll go there. You have one opportunity to make a first impression, and as a relatively new establishment, those first impressions are critical. read more

The wife and I really liked the new layout. The fried pickles were great as an appetizer and there is a good beer/drink selection. We got the Chicken Avocado and the chicken Montana. One with normal fries and the other was sweet potato. Everything was good as well as our service. The mask comments made by others are accurate. This is the first place we've been to where no one is wearing a mask. Depending on your feelings about that it may factor into your decision to visit. read more
