Had such a great experience last time, had to come back again for lunch and they did not disappoint! Greeted with warm smiles as soon as I walked in and was immediately able to order and pay. The vibes were immaculate! Great music playing and everyone was all smiles. Definitely took advantage of the chips and salsa bar (self serve) and got to try many of their delicious salsas. My food came out pretty quickly and it was delicious! The portions were amazing and I was full before I was halfway done! The bbq flames is what caught my attention. That chicken looks so food be roast by those flames. I had to pull over and try some. To my surprise there was a whole taqueria inside not just bbq chicken. Also had a complete fish and meat market and shopping market. The shopping market had plenty of chips or drinks or desserts to go with your taqueria meal or for later. They also have a bakery treat section. I liked everything I ordered from the pineapple aqua fresca to the chicken quesadilla, whole bbq chicken, the shrimp plate and the beef birria soup. Very nice service and polite and helpful. Husband and I had a lunch date on a Friday at 2pm. Its very clean, bright sunlight in the windows and small fountain inside the restaurant was cute. They have a music box to play songs for $1. I agree with most of the reviews on here. It's definitely on the wrong side of town. This little gem is in a little sketchy strip mall where most businesses are closed, make sure to lock you cars. However, the food here is so delicious. One of the best taquerias in Modesto. Today my husband and I went and this is how it went. He ordered the Menudo, the portion was generous, and so flavorful. They serve it with all the garnishes, oregano, cilantro, onion and lemon, and you have the choice of corn or flour tortillas. 10/10 I ordered the red chilaquiles, these come served with rice and beans, and two fried eggs sitting on top of the chilaquiles. 10/10 We have been here many times and everything we have ordered had always been very delicious. I can't stop thinking about my husbands food, think I will pick some up for to-go for dinner tonight. I like to go here when they have karaoke. The first time I came here, I was THRILLED to see that they offer sopas! (I hope I spelled this correctly. Went here for lunch. I ordered the carnitas flautas with flour tortillas. It came with rice and beans. The flautas were pretty big so I wasn't sure if I could eat them all. They were a little on the burnt side for me but I guess that made them more crispy. The rice and beans had good flavor. Compared to other Taquerias in the area, i've found this to be reliably fast and tasty for the price. Chips fried in house, refried beans were the runny, mushed type (nothing wrong with that, just their style). Enchilada and sauce was great without being too oily. Beef was tasty, tender and had enough fat to stay juicy. Chicken was slightly underwhelming, but at least it wasn't dry and stringy-- it felt healthy and light. This is our FAV Mexican restaurant in Modesto, hands down! I will fight you about this. Their meat is sooo flavorful and we have never been let down! Most places get an order wrong (I'm picky) or forget something after going a few times. Viva taqueria is not like this and the woman (she might be owner or owners wife) is sooo friendly and you can tell she cares about her customers and her job. I stopped here to get some food and ordered Carne Asada fries and a Torta. First thing I see is a guy coming from the back starting to making my fries. He grabbed all my fries with bare hands and toss them in the fryer and wiped his hands on his apron which was covered in whatever food he's made throughout the day on it. . So I asked if he could put on gloves since we're in a pandemic. He then told me that they had no gloves and he had just washed his hands. I just went in for lunch with my coworker. I ordered a bean rice and sour creams burrito only no cheese and understood. I'm allergic to cheese. I drove back to work and open this and completed came all apart !! No rice and cheese added. This is disgusting.
