DELIVERY REVIEW I like their birria tacos. I would like their beer batter fish tacos but they wrap it in foil, so it's a soggy mess when it arrives. read more

Awesome Mexican restaurant. Came here and ordered the "Sizzzling Molcajete" which consists in carne asada, pollo, ajo shrimp, chorizo, roasted chiles, cactus, avocado, oaxaca cheese, rice, beans, and more. It was delicious and its presentation was superb. The ambiance is great, well decorated and clean. We sat outdoors. The service can be a bit slow and I needed to go inside to call for the server to come help. Management should train their workers to come by more frequently otherwise customers are going to run out of patience... Overall it was great experience except the service, which can be improved with training read more

Horrible experience! Very disappointed with the service, Nö hospitality or whatsoever! Being short staffed is understandable but being rude is unacceptable! People had to walk over to the bartender to ask for their drinks or to call for her attention! People come to eat and unwind , not to be more frustrated! Such an unpleasant experience on a Friday summer night ! read more

Viva Margarita - Dirty - Mexican Near Me - Cliffside Park, New Jersey

This is my first time at this location; I ordered a shrimp burrito, it was lunch time, but the restaurant was not busy at all, I was kind of surprised because this burrito is really good. They have out door seating and my order came really fast, now I'm back at the office and my burrito is warm. So glad I stumbled upon Viva Margarita in Cliffside Park, I will be going back very soon. read more

This was my go to Mexican restaurant but just saw that they raised the prices more than 20% since like last month. We have a restaurant as well and our costs have gone up but 20% increase is just too much. With more options of new Latin cuisines in the area I guess I need to try other places read more

Not authentic Mexican food. In an area that has so many authentic mom and pop Mexican restaurants this place just doesn't cut it. The food wasn't terrible it just wasn't good enough. From the too thick chips and not spicy enough salsa to the pasty black bean and rice mixture in the burritos it's just not worth coming here. Especially given the prices these days. Maybe in North Dakota this place would be OK but not here. read more

Viva Margarita - Classic margarita with tahin rim, and mango frozen margarita with chamoy - Mexican Near Me - Cliffside Park, New Jersey

Great local restaurant for Mexican food. I appreciate and enjoy the complementary chips and salsa. Guacamole appetizer is always great. Tacos (street and California) and fajitas are always good. Margarita flight is a great deal and yummy -- my favorites are plain, passion fruit, and guava. Service is ok -- a little slow, so do not go if you are in a big rush. But, the restaurant has a great ambiance with Mexican music and decor/murals. Definitely a fun and relaxed vibe. There are many daily specials including Margarita Mondays and Taco Tuesdays. So, definitely a good value. Glad to have them in Cliffside Park! read more

On a Monday night, my super large and incredibly noisy family (45 people) descended on Viva Margarita with no reservation. It was chaos! However, the restaurant staff did their very best, and we had a wonderful meal! The food was very fresh and the service was patient. Our waitress deserves a medal!! My family can't thank you enough! read more

The food lacks flavor. This should not be an issue at a Mexican restaurant. Rice and beans are bland, chicken lacks flavor, fajita was overcooked after being asked "how would you like your steak?" and I requested medium. Service is disturbingly slow for the food, but if you're here to drink ¡ÁNDALE! drinks come right away. Impeccably south of the border designed. The place is clean from entrance to bathroom. Nice place for drinks with friends and family, just not worth the trip or wait for the food. read more

Dear VM Management, Cinco de Mayo 2025 was a day we wanted to celebrate at a local Mexican restaurant, & we chose Viva Margarita in Cliffside Park, NJ. As always, the food, drinks, & service were fresh and delicious. The restaurant offers two floors, & we sat on the second floor. There was a live DJ on the first floor playing AWESOME music, but the volume was excessively loud for an indoor event. It was unhealthy for the human ear & made it impossible to converse with our guests. The volume felt more appropriate for an outdoor event. If this is the vibe for 2026 & the years to come, unfortunately, I'll have to seek another venue to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. read more

Decided to come here with my boyfriend to let Viva Margarita redeem its reputation after going to another location previously. I definitely had a way better experience here! The staff was very welcoming and nice once we came in. The hostess took me and my boyfriend's temperatures and seated us. Our waitress was extremely nice and so sweet. She immediately brought out chips and salsa and catered to us whenever we needed and quickly. She also helped recommend things. For drinks we got the Mojave Mojito and Piña Colada. We both LOVED how it tasted and finished it all. It was so flavorful and had a good amount of alcohol that wasn't empowering. For our appetizer we got the guacamole and chips. The guacamole came in such a cool bowl and the serving made it worth the price. Plus it was delicious. For our entrees we got the Fiesta Nachos and Cuban Burrito. I always get the nachos whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant. I would give the nachos a 3/5. The taste was okay and it was nice how they added pineapples and other fruits to give it a sweet kick. I did not like that it seemed liquidy under everything and there were barely any chips. It seemed like a scavenger hunt looking for them. The waitress recommended the Cuban Burrito and it was amazing. My boyfriend really enjoyed it after he put salsa and guac in it. I tried it and I would've preferred getting that too. I would definitely revisit because the staff, food, drinks, and atmosphere was great! read more

The Molcajete was . Staff were really nice :) my family has an amazing time and enjoyed the food!

Ordered BBQ ribs but was told they didn't have any. Ordered from the brunch menu, never got offered the fresh fruit or juice that comes with it. Then at the end of the meal we saw it was supposed to come with so we asked to just get the fruit and juice to go. Waitress says it has to be dining in. So we said... okayyy.... bring it all over then, but with a to go container... Made NO sense. Why couldn't they just package it up for us in the first place? Waste of time bringing it on a plate with a to go container. They also didn't have the green juice we asked for, so we settled with orange. Took forever to get our check.. Just a lot of little frustrating things. Anyway, mixed fajitas were great. Food was delicious. Will likely order delivery from them but not sure about dining in again. read more

We really enjoyed this restaurant. It has plenty of free parking and is beautifully decorated, both inside and out. Upon entering, you've strolled right into Mexico. The decorations are authentic, brightly colored, and perfectly staged throughout the restaurant. From start to finish, we were served by a very friendly server, Jean Pierr. He made sure that we were comfortable and ensured that our to-go orders were brought out right before we left. The complementary chips and salsa were soooooo good. The salsa was so good, that we asked for another helping. The Elote appetizer was delicious and I appreciated how they cut the corn con into three smaller portions, along with sticks in every portion. My drink was served in a large glass, was strong, and had cool colored rim salt. Our entrees were very tasty and my spicy salmon came on a bed of spinach, avocado, and salad. It also came with a side of refried beans, rice, and corn tortillas! I was very impressed and enjoyed every item. You will definitely appreciate this restaurant and everything surrounding you, as you enjoy a flavorful meal. read more

Honest and truly the margaritas are amazing here. The food on the other hand not so much. They bring you chips and salsa once you're seated. The salsa is very tasty, however the chips did not taste that fresh. I'm unsure if they are made in house. I ordered the Mexican corn on the cob and I was unhappy with it. Part of the corn was charred, the seasoning and toppings were also not even throughout (as you can see in the picture) so it was really hard to determine the total flavor profile. For entrees I had a shrimp chimichanga with red sauce and my sister had a chicken fajita. It wasn't horrible but it was definitely lack luster. The chimichanga didn't not have many shrimp in my opinion and was more tortilla than anything. However, the Service was good and our waiter was attentive. The bathroom was also very clean. The margaritas: Viva Berry Passion, Ice Bluecaracha and Black Widow are a MUST! Overall would I come back? Only for the margaritas read more

I love a good Mexican spot. My girlfriends and I came to the Cliffside Park location. I really loved the decor in here. They have an awesome statue of a dia de los muertos woman. I would love to have one in my own apt. Haha. The food was really good. I enjoyed my enchilada. I didn't really like the refried beans. It was on the mushier side. I like it a with a little more texture. And of course the sangria. You can never go wrong with sangria at a Mexican spot! read more

I enjoyed my dinner here last night so much and was surprised. The last time I was here was during Covid and I had eaten outside and didn't like it at all. I'm so angry with myself that I waited so long to come back. Last night I walked into a bright and colorful restaurant and greeted immediately. So happy to find out it was Margarita Monday. What a way to start the night with a delicious frozen pineapple margarita. Service was wonderful. We all had tacos and they were very good. Everything arrived hot, tasty and timely. I sat at the bar on a Monday night. It took 15 minutes for the bartender to notice me. They had a margarita special and took advantage of that. I ordered a burrito and it came out more like a half a burrito. Bartender has a little bit of an attitude as well. Someone had a birthday, and they brought out a really obnoxious and loud siren. It really was ridiculous for a restaurant and bar, to have that kind of irritating noise. I hope the service sucks because of the lack of work force however, the runner from the kitchen brought out food, but no napkins, fork or knife. I work right around the corner but I don't think I'll be back. read more

Came here on a Friday night with a friend around 7:30pm. They don't take reservations but we were seated immediately once we were both present. There were open tables at that hour but I would say between 8-8:30pm was when the crowd rolled in and the indoor tables were all full. There is outdoor seating as well. They told us that dining is limited to 90minutes. They didn't kick us out after 90min but they definitely cleared out our table quick and roamed around our table like vultures. So we got the hint for sure. But there was a group next to us who were there before us and still there when we left so...not sure how the 90min works across the board. But other than that, service was great. All staff members were friendly and accommodating from beginning until end. Also made sure we were taking care of. We ordered guac. Asked for spicy but it wasn't even close to spicy at all. But yummy none the less. More than enough for 2 people! I order the lengua (tongue) street tacos. ($13) Comes with 3 tacos with a side of cut up onion & cilantro mix along with salsa. Lengua are my go to tacos if it's ok the menu. The tacos were flavorful and good. I don't think they were soggy or bland like some reviews stated. Maybe the added salsa helped but overall I was satisfied. It also came with a side or rice and refried beans. For drinks we ordered a spicy margarita on the rocks and then the black widow (I think that's what it's called). Both were alright. Could have been stronger. The black widow wasn't bad but had an interesting flavor. Probably won't order again for it being $16. Overall, it was friendly and tasty. Best Mexican food? Not quite. And a tad pricey but not bad for a local joint. (I compare it to San Diego Mexican food because I'm originally from there). Note: When you order water they give you bottled water. read more

If I could rate 0 stars for management/customer service, I would. My car was damaged in their Cliffside Park parking lot recently. They have rebar exposed with no signage anywhere, and my car was damaged enough for me to file a police report. After reaching out to the manager, Manny Cerritos multiple times, I never heard a response or even an apology. As a frequent customer (the food is average, the only reason I've been here a few times is because they have cheap specials), you'd think the manager would care, but now I am resorting to leaving a horrible review on Yelp. I will never return to this location for that reason alone. If you want Viva Margarita, I'd suggest taking your business to the Hackensack or Edgewater location, you'll receive better customer service and the managers actually care about their customers. read more

The only great thing about this place is the happy hour drink selections which basically means cheap flavored margaritas everything else, not worth it. Came here a bunch of times not because of the food, but because their happy hour drink prices are unbeatable for the surrounding area. This means that you can walk away with a cheap tab and liquored up, if that's what you're looking for. If you're looking for a good place to satisfy your craving for authentic Mexican food, try looking else where. Might I add that the restaurant itself gets pretty busy in the after hours so you might have to wait for a table and the restaurant itself is quite small. I also can't recommend this being a great place for kids during dinner service as most people are liquored up. However with all that being said, mango and peach margaritas, mojitos and if you're hungry for a bite, try the tacos. Leave the kids at home and enjoy a night out on the town with friends, the spouse or anyone 21+. read more

By far my only favorite Mexican restaurant in New Jersey so far. I love the street tacos Al pastor and the chicken quesadilla. The guacamole is hit or miss some days you order non spicy and get it spicy sometimes they don't mash it all the way. My reason for the three stars is that every time I go to dine in the customer service is horrible! Like extremely. There was one time I ate at the bar and that's the only time I had a great experience with customer service. As a Latina I'm just so sadden by the fact that the waiters look upset, depressed and cranky they don't look happy to work there and it shows during the customer service aspect of visiting the restaurant. Which sucks... because honestly aesthetically it's beautiful and food wise compared to their sister location in Edgewater they have better food. Now I usually just order take out to avoid the lack of customer service, they are very pricey small portions but for the street tacos and guacamole and chicken quesadillas I find it useful. Sometimes you just want taco. Anywho I hope they work on their team because a restaurant isn't only food it's also the team they make it or break it. Wish them better because I love the aesthetics and I love how beautiful the vibe is just wish the customer service matched. read more

Drinks are worth more than the food here, as evident by my latest visit. The rice and beans that come on the side were old and had a distinct smell to them. I ordered the vegetarian chorizo alambre meal. The waitress asked me if I was okay with sour cream and cheese, and I said it was all good. To my surprise, when I started to look at my plate, there were chunks of bacon and chicken in it. When I asked about it, she just said that's automatically included. I didn't know a VEGETARIAN meal automatically included meat, and I should be requesting no meat - this is not the case anywhere else. The meal was also 80% onions, which was also uncomfortable to separate. The horchata is very sweet. The chips and salsa are still good. This used to be my go-to when I stayed in the neighborhood, but our relationship has certainly ended. read more
