The restaurant was clean and while we were in line there was a staff member wiping every table, even tables that were already cleaned. !Nice Job! That was a great first impression. The menu is small. When I thought of waffle sandwiches, my mind ran away with ideas. None of which wear on the menu. Reason for 3 stars- The food: Garlic Waffle fries are good, but don't go well with ketchup and ours where sorts dry. The Monti Cristo was more like a ham sandwich on super crispy waffle, dusted in powdered sugar. The waffle was almost too hard. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The Hot Hot Chicken Sandwich only tasted the pickle and the seasoning they used to make it Hot. Also the waffle was super crunchy. Was really messy as well. I feel like the waffle should be softer if using it for sandwiches and the flavors aren't what people would expect.

Can I say AMAZING?! I have heard great things about this place so I had to see for myself. Great customer service. The food came out very quickly. It was also fresh and hot. I was concerned that the waffle was going to be soggy but it was actually a crispy firm waffle sandwich. All the options were hard to choose from but I ordered the dirty bird which consisted of chicken with sausage gravy. A really delicious sandwich. I am dying to try more! I would not blame anyone for coming to this establishment everyday.

Viva la waffle lived up to all my waffle sandwich joint place hype FOR SURE!! For one, this place has the cutest atmosphere, nice music, nice new parking lot, and a drive through (how awesome is that??). I went dine inside for the full experience and I am so glad I did. The inside looks so new and Kennedi was super helpful while I was trying to pick between "the great boudin sandwich" & "the hot hot sandwich". I went with the Hot Hot & it was delicious! At first it wasn't too hot, but it eventually turned HOT HOT lol. Make sure you get a drink with your order because you'll need it with this sandwich! I also was extremely surprised on how fast it was made. I ordered my food, turned around and found myself a seat, and 1 minute later she called my order. Both the waffle and chicken were so fresh tasting! The pickles and ranch add the best touch ( I also added syrup)! Check this place out!!

Life is full of circles, I've tried them since they were operating out of a food truck. Definitely happy to see them upgrade to a brick and mortar and operating at optimal with very little wait. Everything is pretty good, theres a little for everyone, sweet or savory. Check them out! Check @eatinglafayette on Instagram and Facebook for more Lafayette food things!

Always drove by and said to myself, "I really need to try that place out." Well, today I did it, tried Viva LA Waffle. I am glad I did because the food is fantastic. The service is first rate, very friendly. You will not be disappointed. Give it a try and you will go back for more. I will be back for sure.

Then I discovered Five Mile Eatery, and it has quickly become one of my favorite places in town. I am absolutely addicted to their vegan Caesar salad. It's fresh, flavorful, satisfying, and proof that vegan food can be anything but boring. The menu is thoughtfully crafted with organic, seasonal ingredients, and it's refreshing to find a place that truly caters to plant-based eaters. I know some people comment on the prices, but organic, high-quality ingredients cost more, and that's something many people don't realize. Personally, I don't mind paying a little extra for healthy choices and food made with quality ingredients. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is welcoming, the desserts are excellent, and the staff always make me feel at home. If you're vegan, vegetarian, or simply looking for a healthier meal option, Five Mile Eatery is a gem. Lafayette is lucky to have it!

I ordered the Co-op Burger, which came on a house-made sweet potato bun that was actually really good. The Angus beef patty was cooked well done, just how I like it. It also came with lettuce, mustard, house ketchup, and basil mayo. Personally, I could've done without the house ketchup and would've preferred regular ketchup. The basil mayo was not a good match, I think regular mayo would have complemented the burger much better. I also asked to leave off the pickles and red onion. I added an over-hard egg, which was cooked perfectly. On the side, I ordered the yogurt, but unfortunately, I couldn't eat it. It tasted like spoiled sour cream, so that was definitely a disappointment. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming, although the seating area felt a little too cramped. It was lunchtime, so I understand that it was busy. One thing I didn't like was the lack of any signs directing customers with call-in or online orders. It wasn't clear where those orders should be picked up. I ended up standing by the cooler, which put me in the walkway of food being delivered and the cooler for beverages. I was also concerned about the food handling. The employee bringing out food and drinks kept playing with her hair because it was constantly falling in her face, then continued handling customers' orders. The person making the coffee also had her hair down. In my opinion, anyone preparing or serving food should have their hair secured and wear gloves when appropriate. Parking was probably the biggest inconvenience. Nearly every surrounding business has signs stating "Parking for customers only," which makes finding a place to park difficult.

I'm not sure who my assigned waitress was. One took my order and brought me drinks then worked the other side of the restaurant for a while. As I watched my food cook, the hash browns were done first and then sat for about 5 minutes until the eggs were done. Some other waitress refilled my coffee while the food sat. Eventually the toast was added and then the plate sat. As I finished my second coffee watching my food sit, I made eye contact with the original waitress she decided to grab the plate and bring it to me. If I had to guess, the hash browns came off the griddle 12-13 minutes ago and the eggs probably 6-7 minutes ago. The eggs were cooled off in my first bite. I tasted an egg shell. A third waitress continually came over and apologized and checked on me. She brought me my bill. I won't stop coming to Waffle House's, but I really hope this one figures out what they're doing wrong.

This cafe is simple but sooooo nostalgic, from the years of untouched decor to the down home vibes, this what Louisiana culture is all about, I love that there are so many folks that frequent this cafe that still speak the cajun french I grew up with and the food is off the chart and there's no doubt the kitchen loves dishing out traditional cajun cuisine, after all these years this place still has the magic. The pork chop was cooked perfectly. It was juicy, incredibly tender, and honestly tender enough to cut with a fork. It had a great char from the grill that added so much flavor, and the pickled peppers on top cut through the richness of the pork perfectly. The dirty rice underneath reminded me of my mom's rice dressing and soaked up all the juices from the chop. It was one of the best pork chop dishes I've had. My wife ordered the smoke fried chicken, and it was also excellent. The crust was crispy while the chicken stayed juicy and flavorful. The sweet potato biscuits were light and delicious, and the pepper honey tied everything together nicely. For my taste, it leaned just a little on the sweet side, but it was still a very enjoyable dish. My daughter ordered the Social Cheeseburger with just meat and cheese. She loved it, and I was impressed too. Even with such a simple order, the burger was juicy, well seasoned, and served on a fantastic bun. She and my wife both could not stop talking about the hand cut fries. They were crispy, perfectly seasoned, and some of the best fries we've had in a while.
