Fried Catfish Basket with Cajun Fries

One of my favorite places to eat in New Iberia! Any time I am in town I have to go here. Over the years I've had many things on the menu! Some of my faves are the Fried Catfish Basket, Shrimp Poboy, Hot Dog, Gumbo, Grilled Catfish, Cajun Fries, Chicken Fries, and Sweet Potato Fries all of which are excellent! Make sure you try their honey mustard if you like dipping sauces! The service is great! Everyone is very friendly and accommodating whether you order to go or dine in! There is a drive through for pick up which is great! You can order soft serve ice cream and/or drinks from the window without calling ahead. There is inside and outdoor seating. Inside it is a 50s style diner with a jukebox included! A staple of the community. I always see someone I know when I'm there. If you haven't been, check it out!

This cool little diner was packed when we arrived at lunch time on a Monday. The daily special was a hot dog and fries for $6.50! I ate the two piece dark fried chicken, rice dressing and fried corn on the cob (weird)! My hubs at a 1/2 bbq po boy and fries. All the food was tasty and reasonably priced. The fried corn was odd and tasteless...I would not recommend it. We finished with milkshakes to go and our whole bill was less than $30.

I've been living in New Iberia for close to 4 years now and this is my first time visiting Duffy's. Definitely will Not be the last time. Fried Mushrooms were some of the best I've had in a very long time. Hot, not overly salty, and the oil tasted fresh. My wife really enjoyed her (half)shrimp poboy. I really liked the poboy bread and will likely get one next time we come. My hamburger steak was good. Seasoned well and hot. They let me upgrade from fries to a loaded baked potato ($1.75 upgrade) and it came out very hot. However, I didn't realize they used nacho cheese and when my server (Gabrielle) realized I didn't like it, she immediately replaced it with another using shredded cheese. Overall the service and food was great. We can't wait to come back.

Shrimp basket and crab cake special

Let's start this out by saying, I'm slightly biased. I grew up here and I've eaten at Duffy's so many times I can quote their menu. So why right a review now? Because I finally brought someone here that had never had the food and they agreed that's it's absolutely fantastic. So FINALLY here's my review of the place I'll eat at every time I'm home. This place is landmark to me and I hope it never changes (including that pedal car on the ceiling). I visit here so often because I've never been disappointed by the food or the service or the decor. I can tell my own age by coming here; the decor isn't just old, they're antiques; the people working the counter are no longer my classmates, but their kids. Yet it's still pretty cheap for the great food and experience. $20 for two people this weekend. Thankfully my friend picked up the bill (his gratitude for me sharing this iconic spot with him). Another thing that never changes is that it's always clean, and everyone is always smiling. My favorite thing to order: shrimp basket with fries My second favorite: shrimp basket with onion rings My third favorite: catfish basket with fries I do eat things on the menu other than the shrimp basket BUT I don't live here anymore, so I find myself just going back to it each time I come home. The breading and seasoning are perfect, and you can't beat the price. Insider secret is that the baskets come with a pistolette and I'd rather that fried piece of bread than a poboy. In fact, sometimes I order an extra piece. They always have great specials, too. This weekend, they had the crab cake sandwich. My friend ordered that and thankfully shared so that I can tell you in this review how delicious it was. I would order that again - but I'd have to get a pistolette on the side of course. When I was younger the shakes or ice cream to finish the meal was absolute heaven, though we were too stuffed to indulge this weekend. Last words: eat at Duffy's. Be nice to the staff. Enjoy your trip down memory lane.

Ribs, baked beans and dirty rice were delicious

Duffy is a great location for great food and great service. We had the ribs, baked beans, and dirty rice along with a delicious strawberry shake made with real strawberries. We appreciate their being open on Saturday for lunch when many other nearby restaurants were not. The restaurant had an old fashioned, fun diner atmosphere.

Seafood Gunbo (shrimp & crawfish) and potato salad. Very good.

Down home cooking. Very good. Fresh. Variety is good. Restaurant clean. A bit crowded but since the food is good, I understand why

Food is not at all the same. Really unfortunate. Seems like frozen patties for burgers. Fried chicken had no seasoning.

Walking in is like being transported to a patisserie somewhere in France. You can see the attention to detail in every aspect of the decor. You are greeted with a smile and welcome from the staff. The chocolate cake is--everything you would want in a chocolate cake. It is moist and decadent with an airy chocolate buttercream. The carrot cake feels nostalgic. It's just the right amount of sweet and spice, with golden raisins laced throughout the crumb. It reminded me of something that would come from my grandmother's kitchen. The lemon tea cake is a little slice of heaven. It's slightly more dense with poppy seeds throughout, but it isn't heavy. The flavors here are balanced and the lemon isn't too tart. The ham and cheese croissant is huge and comes with a spicy jack cheese. The components are simple but deliciously executed. The croissant itself is layers of buttery goodness. It's perfect. Now the star of the show for me was the almond croissant. Like the butter croissant, the layers are perfect with a flaky outer; but the addition of the almond topping and powdered sugar makes this a show stopper. I'm already planning my next trip to New Iberia just for this pastry. I'm looking forward to coming back in the evening (at some point) to try their dinner offerings as well.
