Have been going to Dr. Patel for a few years now and could not be happier. The office is clean and inviting. The entire staff is welcoming and thorough. I typically see Julia when getting routine cleanings, but have had other hygienists as well who are all fantastic. I have had a pretty extensive dental plan that the office has worked with me on scheduling for time purposes, as well as budgeting. I have had zero issues with paying the office only to have to fight tooth and nail (no pun intended) with the insurance company afterwards, which was an experience I had with my previous dentist. I've has procedures from fillings to crowns, all of which have taken care of my issues. Dr Patel is always clear and precise with instructions, and makes sure I am numb if there are any invasive procedures. He takes the time personally to call for follow ups, and just recently I had a tooth chip causing sensitivity. Even though most of the staff was off for Christmas holiday, he got me in today on my lunch break and the hygienist was able to fashion a temporary fix until the doc returns in January. Best dental experience I've ever had. The office and staff are wonderful. The operatories have a sleek and tasteful layout to them. Unlike the operatories at other offices I've been in, the dental equipment is hidden which allows the room to be pleasing to the eye. The office features amenities such as pillows and blankets to ensure you're comfortable. The operartories also have a TV on the ceiling to allow you to distract yourself while getting any work done. Dr. Patel is an amazing doctor, one of the best that I have seen. Upon meeting him, he sat with me and we went through my X-rays and pictures that the staff had taken of my teeth. He was very thorough when showing me and explaining what was going on in the X-rays and pictures. He also explained the course of treatment and answered any questions I had. read more

Advertisement offering cleaning was not contingent that I recall, so they wouldn't do the cleaning, but I still had to pay full price! Shocked to say the least..Gave dental plan, offered no options to help with cost. Also took picture on arrival which I did not like. Found another provider that met all my needs. read more

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DR. NEAL PATEL TO ANYONE. I was involved in an accident on 8/25/22 and was referred to Dr. Neal Patel on an emergency basis to handle a broken front tooth that would require removal of what was left of the tooth and roots, grafting within the bone, making a retainer and inserting of post for the final tooth implant. My first visit was on 8/26/22 and lasted five hours. Dr. Patel started by injecting lidocaine into the roof of my mouth without the benefit of any numbing agent. Considering that I am a new patient to Dr. Patel and I have no history with him, I would have thought that he would have been more careful as to any pain that he may be causing me. However, after my initial flinching, I took a deep breath and was ready to move on. When I flinched during him injecting my mouth without the numbing agent, Dr. Patel looks at me and asked "Did that hurt?" to which I responded "Yes". He was sort of "Oh well". I continued to take deep breaths and focus on getting through the procedure. So the tooth pieces and roots have now been removed and I had to have some bone grafting done to get it prepared for the implant post. The lidocaine had worn off by the time the post was imbedded and he again had to give me additional injections. More flinching on my part. Throughout the five hours I must have had two or three hands (plus tools) in my mouth and never did they think to put Vaseline on the corners of my mouth. Once this procedure was done, the corners of my mouth were so torn it took four days before they healed. He was incredibly rough throughout the entire procedure so much so that the maxillary labial frenulum was torn - and again I had to wait for it to heal and the pain to pass. The retainer that he made for me to wear in public while I am waiting for the final implant tooth was great. However, as he was initially fitting it to my upper teeth, there was a sharp point on one of the edges. As he "shoved" it into place, he cut my gum. Again, I flinch. He asks "hmm, did that hurt?" Again, additional pain. Unfortunately, the button that covers the implant post until the tooth is inserted fell out and I had to return to his office on 10/12/22. The button had been out for six days and the gum tissue had started growing over the open post. Dr. Patel walks in and says "Oh this is going to be easy, I just need to screw it back in". I almost fell out of the chair the pain was so intense. He stops and says with a completely dumbfounded look on his face "does that hurt". I was almost in tears by this point. So again with the injections. Again with the pain. But on top of that he IMMEDIATELY starts screwing in the button again without waiting for the lidocaine to take effect. My reaction made him stop and he then left the room to wait for the injection to take effect. I absolutely hated that I had to make one more trip to his office on 11/2/22 for him to check the implant post and release me so that my dentist could take over my further treatment. Dr. Patel walks in and in a pleasant manner proceeds to take a hard metal instrument and start bouncing it off of the metal post. It is not that it was actually painful but he did like eight or nine times - which by the fourth time, it was reverberating through my skull and was just more than uncomfortable. I had made known my feelings and interactions with Dr. Patel to my regular dentist and several individuals in my dentists' office. So I think some of my comments must have made their way back to Dr. Patel because as I am still in a flat chair position with him standing over me (pretty much at his mercy), he stated "Now, I am sure you will agree that this has been a painless process?" My eyes must have almost popped out of my head because he kind of stepped back and reiterated "Nooooo, you can't tell me that this has been painful to you?" I stated that if he had been in my place in this chair - his outlook would have been vastly different. Got up and left. Upon reflection on his personal physical treatment of me, I would almost classify as sadistic. read more

Extremely disappointed with this dentist. Many hours in the chair, many phone calls regarding incorrect insurance billing, and much expense for dentures and implants. Probably should not have gone to a general dentist. After less than a year, still having problems. Finally saw a prosthedentist who can fix the damage from this dentist's lack of skill with implants and fitting dentures correctly. Very nice man but now I have to pay thousands more to have the proper outcome. read more

This was very disappointing. I don't even feel one star is what your clinic should get. You establishment is not a dental office. This is a sales clinic. The amount of energy put in to separating people from their money is impressive. But not ethical. I will make sure I give a detailed review of your practices on several leading sites. To ensure that others don't get mislead or fall for the overpriced sales. You didn't address one issue I had. I spent three hours in a nearly empty clinic to leave with not one thing taken care of. They had me pay $299 up front before anything was started. I would encourage everyone to keep family and friends from going here as well. I will also post this on facebook. This needs shared as much as possible. Dental care shouldn't be scary to ones budget. read more

I cannot recommend Vitalize Dental, and Dr. Patel, enough. I've been to other dentists who were great in other areas of town; however, I was looking for someone a little closer to home in St. Johns. I had at least 5 people refer me to Dr. Patel - all with compelling stories of why Dr. Patel is the best. I am very happy I listened! Dr. Patel's attention to detail and drive to give the best patient experience is exemplary. I chose to get my Invisalign done, and I couldn't be happier. I had a stubborn tooth that was very crooked. I had received 3 other Invisalign consults over the years, but the 2 years of treatment that were recommended were more than I wanted. However, I decided to go with Dr. Patel because of his experience, and how quickly he would be able to get the case done (only 24 weeks). Additionally, he went above and beyond to work with me, ordering extra trays, etc. Please do not listen to other reviews that talk about cost. Dr. Patel's prices were either the same, or slightly below others in the same area. Dental care, if it is done correctly, should take time and is therefore not cheap. I am not affiliated with the practice. However, I felt the need to address the other poor review, because it is not representative of my experience, or the experience of my friends and neighbors. You will not regret going to Vitalize - they will take very good care of you. read more
