Friday, 8/7/26 ordered the veal scallopini. This was one of our favorite places in Frankfort but not anymore. Paid over $106 for the two of us and it was vey disappointing. The veal was two 3" long pieces, burnt and crisp on the edges and tough beyond words. The mozzarella on top was not melted and only 3/4" in size. (no exaggeration). The pasta had 7 small slices of mushrooms on top and some shaved parmesan. It had absolutely NO mushroom marsala sauce anywhere on the plate, no seasoning and the pasta was overcooked and unsalted. Thought we just had it wrong so didn't speak up but on the way home, looked up the menu and realized the chef is the one who got it wrong, not us. Won't be back. read more

This is truly authentic Italian cuisine. Every time I have eaten here I love it even more. The ambience is so cool the walls are down with pictures of Ed (ie) the owner and his family in Italy. We brought our 18-month old here while on vacation and 2 small things made our experience dining out here with a toddler very nice. When asked if we'd like a high chair and we said yes, they sprayed and wiped down a highchair that was in PRISTINE condition. Also, when we ordered off the kids menu, our server Julia asked if we'd like for our son's meal to come out first. These two small things made it a good time with a toddler and I'd recommend it to parents of young kids on vacation. Plus the Hugo spritz was delicious. read more

Wow, this was really bad. I don't get Yelp! reviews sometimes - the Cove for example in Leland got 3.8; this place was 4.1. There was no comparison between the two, the Cove had much, much better food and cocktails. Frito Misto was like it had been left for an eternity in a deep fryer with old oil. The salads tasted of lettuce preserver. There was nothing Margharita-like in the "Margharita panini" - it was like off the shelf bread toasted with some odd-tasting chicken, a small tomato slice and... pesto sauce (?)... the only redeeming feature was the gluten free pizza, which wasn't great but not awful. And then the cocktails... someone went nuts with the simple sugar! Sugar bombs all around! My wife's "Italian Courier" was undrinkable - the server amenably swapped it out for a no alcohol Blueberry Lavender something (with a shot of Tito's), which tasted like neither Blueberry nor lavender... Finally, the interior could use a nice touch up... looking a bit tired, which is how I feel having written this review. decent wine list, although the white offerings should have had more Italian options. good service! interestingly , the pasta was disappointing , considerably over cooked and nearly mushy. Frankly, a high quality dry pasta is often a better option for some dishes... the used to provide a bucatini (sp?) option that worked well w the bolognese. at any rate, I cannot grade inflate and imo 3 stars is about right. As an Italian living in west Michigan finding food is challenging. We have some luck with restaurants when going north but frankly not much. Vita Bella reminded me of the Italian grocery store in my hometown. The canolis were great and we took back sandwiches, and other fresh Italian goods. We happen upon Vita Bella on our travels in Michigan. What a delicious surprise of Italian food. Everyone got something different off the menu from Pizza to soup and salad and some sandwiches. Everyone cleaned their plate as we sat outside to enjoy the sunshine and the passers by who were enjoying the lakeside town. The place is quaint and very clean, and clean bathrooms too. The wait staff were fabulous and very knowledgeable and helpful with numerous suggestions of things to do and see in the area. 10 out of 10 read more

Spent two weeks in Northern Michigan this summer and this was the worst meal of the trip, fast food included. Had a 7:30 reservation, no one was event at the front door to seat us until 7:45, took 90 minutes to get our meals and when they arrived, the chicken parm was burned, the ravioli were overcooked and full of water, and chicken on a third dish was refrigerator cold. Waiter argued with us when we complained. The table next to us clearly had party members that were friends with the restaurant staff, they got their food right away. Don't waste your time, go across the street to Stormcloud. read more

Went here Saturday evening for restaurant week. Had been wanting to try it but just never made it. Saw it was restaurant week and made a reservation. It was amazing! We did do the restaurant week menu but will be back to try other items. Wife and I both had the Caeser salad, nice size and delicious, wife had spaghetti, and I had chicken parm. Get the Cavatelli bolognese; it's as good as everyone says! We split the chopped salad and loved the Italian gentleman bourbon drink. Nice to see a non alcoholic rose on the menu when the N/A option is often only beer or kombucha. Wrapped up a beautiful night with the tiramisu, light texture and not too boozy. We (4 of us) went for dinner and liked the open room vibe and the service was excellent. It has a vibrant atmosphere inside and the people were very pleasant. The overall space is extremely noisy and sometimes difficult to have across the table discussion. They were out of a couple brand name menu listed cocktails, but they had suitable replacements for us. We are still not sure what was in the dip that was served with the bread that looked like oatmeal without much taste to it. The other couple said their entree meals were good, but my wife and I found the food to be below average, especially for the price. Came here with the family for the first time for dinner. We sat by the window and ordered a cocktail and a bottle of wine. Our server was accommodating with our two kids. Not 100% it's accurate but was told there's not fries or chicken tenders for kids at dinner time, BUT our server made it happen for our kids. My husband got the seasonal ravioli . He enjoyed it but wished there was more (serving size was more for a first plate vs a meal). I ordered the carbonara, and it was delicious! The pasta is house made downstairs, and you can tell. Was very disappointed with my meal. We have been regular patrons for a long time,with no complaints. Today we made reservations for a family Father's Day dinner. I ordered the special of the day, steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus (cooked medium). It came seared on the outside and super rare inside. It was so tough, I could barely cut it with the (dull) steak knife. It looked like a cheap flank steak! I sent it back and ordered a lasagna instead. We have been here a few times and the food is decent. My favorite is the burrata and of course the pizza. Yet we did stop by on Labor Day weekend and sat outside in the front outdoor patio. This was horrible! The patio tables were absolutely disgusting, they were uneven and so wiggly we had to hold the tables so that we could cut into our food. We took turns holding the tables so we could all eat and not have our food slide off the table. Like I said the food is good but this time you guys really blew it. I mean you know how horrible these tables are and have not replaced or fixed the tables. The waitress came and dropped off our order and when placing it on the table the food almost fell off and all she said was oh no, we are working on getting them replaced. This place is really small inside and the seating is terrible, at least where we were. Service was super slow and the food was mediocre at best. Our waitress was really nice but it took forever to get our drinks and food. When we finally got the food I was underwhelmed. My lasagna was dry and my husband's pizza was wet in the middle. Although, the pizza crust was really good just the rest of it was meh. The charcutier board was a joke, but I did enjoy my Gelato. I saw the bartender making our drinks. It was non stop and she was hustling but they just needed another person helping her, poor thing was all alone. There were a ton of staff around too but they all appeared to be about 13-16 years old, not even joking. I guess considering all the child labor it was pretty good. This place is a great little local spot with a ton of great menu options! It was my first time there and I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to get. I decided on the CAVATELLI BOLOGNESE. We started with appetizers and they were all amazing! Can't chose a favorite because they were all so good! I also got a cup of the Clam Chowder and it was very good! They also have a store that sells some carryouts including high end wine. Very clean. Intimate back room overlooking the bay and open airy front for casual Dining. Horrible service, food not great. And it ended with our waitress telling us the sunset was at 9pm when we asked for our food to go after we waited over an hour for food... the sunset was at 7:42 pm.
