Best thin crust pizza outside NYC. Tastes like Joes New York Pizza but in the northern woods of Michigan! Wonderful staff & owner. Love this place!

The pepperoni was good, the Hawaiian pizza was beyond mid, hella greasy but delectable, service was good and the place was nice and clean. Overall 4 star would give 3.5, some things just shouldn't be on a pizza.

Pizza, pizza, pizza, it's all about the pizza. Yes, this is the best pizza joint in the area, and I'd extend it all the way to Traverse City. We as a party of three ordered three pizza's. One a Detroit style. Two New York thin crust pizza's. OMG so gooooood. I also ordered there chicken wings which were meh! Yes, it saddened me. But, let's go back to the pizza. Upriver, has the secret from great service, in-house music, and exceptional pizzas. Dip a slice in buffalo sauce and it's love at first bite. The 4 stars and not 6 was all about the chicken wings, undercooked and flavorless. But, I don't wanna end a review on a meh note. This place rocks. Service is great, the chef is brilliant and the pizza suburb.

Large New York style: vodka sauce, feta, pepperoni, basil, garlic, and tomatoes.

First time here and I was pleased! Looks a little shotty from the outside but those are the best food places! Fantastic service. One of the owners is in the back making the pizzas and his wife is one of two bartenders. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience. Ask the bartender about her "homemade ginger-ale". We got the Large New York style: vodka sauce, feta, pepperoni, basil, garlic, and tomatoes. It came out to roughly $30. A bit pricey but I'm always willing to spend a little extra to get something that actually tastes good. The pizza was made from scratch and you can tell. Decent dough, I liked the sauce, and the toppings were quality/fresh. It's exceptional for the area and definitely worth giving a try!

Been horrible this yr. Got sick last night chris the main dude least co owner. Was there to. Ashley didn't check it. Yuck got sick. Disgusting

    Detroit Style- yum!

We have been coming up to this area of Michigan for 20 years and are always excited to try new places. The pizza was fantastic. The Detroit style had a crispy, toasty crust with a very generous topping of pepperoni. The salad was also very good with the house dressing. Enough for two of us. People around us were also ordering the pasta- so I'm thinking that was tasty as well. Cute atmosphere and great local live music. Full bar or unlimited soft drinks. Please try it! Friendly staff and clean bathrooms!

Large pep hit the spot. We did take out on a Friday night. Inside looked was a decent crowd at the bar. Garlic knots were okay.

By far the best pizza I've ever had. Get the vodka sauce. Great job guys. Thanks for being patient with my terrible phone ordering skills.

My party suggested we stick around for dinner too, which I wasn't going to object to. I wasn't surprised to hear that we'd have a 35-minute wait on a Saturday. The staff was very accommodating and offered an empty room upstairs to wait and pass the time with some games. We asked if we could order some cocktails, and luckily the answer was yes. We placed an order with the hostess, and she brought those upstairs. Later, when there was a Shirley Temple spill, staff was gracious and whipped up another drink right away. Hospitality deserves five stars alone. What else deserves five stars? The cocktails of course. I had two "hotties," which were perfect with the wintry weather...and smart thinking. Who really wants a cold drink in January? The menu is simple, and much of the food is locally-sourced (huzzah). I vegetarian-ized the Christmas Dinner pizza, and it needed the saltiness/fatiness of the sausage. Still, I'll give points for creativity. Four stars. I get destination vibes from this spot, and I know I'll need to return in the summer months for the most optimal experience...but I was overall impressed with my winter trip. Five stars for Iron Fish Distillery!

I tried the Spring Chicken pizza, and it's easily my new favorite. The combination of lemon olive oil, smoked chicken, and that pesto ricotta soprafina is incredible. We ordered a medium with mushroom, pepperoni, and extra cheese. It did not take long, and it was perfect. Piping hot and traditional pizza (my fav). It's expensive ($25), but it's worth it, and you tend to see higher prices in destination areas. Max was our server, he was great! So great we went back to try their sandwiches last night! I had the BLT and my husband had the Philly. Both were good, we did not add a side. I wouldn't get the BLT again because I would try something more exciting for the price (LOL). Definitely more of a locals place, vibes are immaculate. Started with the pepperoni chips...order these! Gluten free, keto friendly deliciously addicting! I'd order these every time! I had the Salmon burger, and it exceeded my expectations! It's an actually filet of Salmon, no weird patties here. Healthy, fresh tasting, I would order this every time as well! Sweet potato fries had good flavor. Husband ordered pizza and was happy. They have the root beer Friendly's has, which is awesome, because the food at VI is so much better! Service was excellent too! We did inquire about their 4th of July hours, and though they said they were to be open for lunch, they were not. :( I get it, it's a tiny beach town, they can do what they want, but it was a bummer, because the food is special, and because there are so few options. All in all, I wish I was able to try out more of the menu at VI, maybe next time!
