My family has been patients here for over 25 years. We have been happy and feel that they have cared for our eyes well. Today however, the service was terrible post exam. Though I understand money is to be made by the purchase of eyewear, a customer should never be bullied into the purchase. I was told by the office manager that if I wasn't purchasing my son's glasses there, I should get the exam somewhere else. This was after harassing me with questions about where I would be purchasing the glasses and letting her know WHY I wasn't purchasing the glasses there. Disappointed to have had such a poor interaction there. Perhaps if a purchase is mandatory part of the appointment, it should be stated at the time of the appointment is scheduled. read more

I went there once for an eye exam. Everything went very well. I ordered contacts and got them shipped to my house. They arrived 1-2 weeks later, which isn't fast but did not cause any inconvenience. The issue I can't get past is that they automatically schedule a follow up appointment, which I imagine will fall on a date that won't work for most employed people. They require you to either go in on that date, reschedule, or risk a $60 fee for not showing up. I've never seen anything like this and I don't understand how it can possibly be legal. CROOKS!!! RUN! DO NOT GO HERE! I have been going to VE for about 4 years now. I used to refer friends here. Since that time, I have personally had a very bad experience here; extreme upcharges on non designer frames and add ons such as scratch resistant coatings, etc. Even with excellent vision insurance coverage, I ended up paying in excess of $400 for my generic glasses. Two co workers have now shared their horrible experience here. Both were basically bamboozled into paying extraordinary amounts of money for things they did not ask for and which were (conveniently) not covered by their vision insurance provider. Neither were told up front that these were extra charges they would have to cover out of pocket. One should have been covered by their health care provider as a medical need and the other was charged for a contact lens exam when they were simply there for their annual eye exam and had gotten GLASSES on the last visit. No one asked if they needed or wanted a Contact lens exam, they just did it. The other co worker was charged $300+ for an eye test which would have been covered 100% by their medical insurance. They also did not tell her that they would be charging her for this as she was also there for her annual eye exam which should have been covered 100% with a $20 copay! CROOKS. I am contacting VSP next, the BBB and advising anyone I come across NOT to come here. You all should try Warby Parker, Zinni or even Costco for Rx glasses. read more

Response was fast from owner.... Hummm but when I asked to speak with manager. I was hung up on. Wow very professional!!!!! Oh plus this office made my husband pay out of pocket for a visit. Then billed the insurance for whole visit. The office still sent a bill saying he owes more money. I asked in person but no one knows. Office is very unprofessional! Asked to speak to office manager because the office didn't call to inform Dr was running late. They will bill you a fee if you miss an appointment but if they are running late oh well. (Like my time is unimportant.) I rushed down from San Jose to make my daughter's appointment at 2:30. They didn't call her back until after 3pm. Now I am going to be late for a different appointment. He is 6 years old, and it was his first appointment. From start to finish, the process was so smooth and even enjoyable! Making an appointment was easy and efficient - you can just text them if you'd like. Check-in was smooth, the exam was thorough and both Dr. Patel and his assistant made it fun for my son. Nope. I waited over a month for my glasses and was never notified that they were ready. I am not really interested in what your "records" say because I never got a call, email, or text. I needed them for a trip and I ended up taking the trip without them. Perhaps your records system also needs an upgrade. I did upgrade the frames, and paid for the upgrade. However, that was irrelevant to this review so I did not share that information. Yet despite your claims about 'respecting patient confidentiality', you went ahead and posted that here. My issue was the lens prescription being too strong. I do not appreciate you posting irrelevant details about my visit. You did not respond to or apologize for the excessive amount of time it took for the glasses, the lack of communication, the condition of the first pair of glasses, or the abrupt service the doctor provided. You were, however, quick to respond with a flimsy defense of poor customer service. Consider all the potential customers reading these bad reviews that see you come back swinging at every person that posted about poor service/product. The message you are putting out is that your office provides substandard service and accepts little to no accountability for it, and will respond defensively if you are unhappy. A suggestion: Instead of spending your time defending your office and sharpshooting unhappy customers, put more of that energy into creating a more positive, customer service-based environment. I took in a prescription and they made lenses to go with that prescription, I got the glasses and couldn't see properly. Visual Edge is great! I saw Dr. Diaz and she was absolutely fantastic. So personable and friendly but more importantly, she is so thorough. She specializes in treating eye issues that are more serious. She was able to diagnose a rather serious eye issue i ended up having with my cornea that no other doctors were able to detect. I knew something was wrong when the vision in my left eye was all blurry. Another doctor said..."oh...just use a few re-wettiing drops." No, I needed antibiotics to heal a rather serious problem. In the past, this place has been good, and Dr. Kovach is knowledgeable. I would have given them 5 stars at that time as others have done here. However, covid (or something) seems to have done them in (or perhaps new, less capable staff have been hired). See one-star review by Gus T, who had a similar experience in the past vs in the present. Frankly, in our opinion, the office staff is seemingly either incompetent or not interested in customer support. (See one-star reviews by IB and Christine H, who can confirm this bad attitude/unprofessional behavior). You cannot talk to anyone unless you drive there and walk in the door. You can only leave messages -- and they are generally not returned, in our experience. We got one text today, June 16, after hounding them, saying, "hey, we need your measurement" -- the same one that was sent to them on May 27. We are still wrestling with them re whether we will (ever) get these glasses, and, of course, we are reporting the situation to our insurance company. Do not go there unless you do not need glasses and just want a glaucoma or retinal test. That information you can get from the doctor on the spot. If you need glasses, we suggest that you look elsewhere, as we will be doing in the future (or even now if those glasses do not show up pretty darn quickly). After seeing this review, someone did call. That person claimed not to have received the measurement but had no explanation why the staff had waited three weeks to let us know it had not been received. Would they have waited a month, 6 months, a year? Obviously, no system in place to ensure quality follow through. That person also said that it would not be possible to get the glasses right away and did not give an estimate for how long it would take. Reached out? Yes, after seeing a negative review. Helped? First off, Dr. Kovac was very informative. He provided me with so much pertinent information regarding lasik eye surgery and made me feel like it was a very feasible surgery to do. After my appointment, I felt valued and cared for! On to the fun part--choosing frames! I was so fortunate to get the lovely Miss Gloria. She too was informative and very patient with me. I can be very indecisive when it come to choosing frames, but not once did she make me feel rushed. Excellent service is so hard to come by these days that when you get it--you don't forget it! Me and my daughter (7 year old) went to this practice for our yearly checkup. We were coming from a different practice as they were out of appointments for the rest of the year. We both have had our last year eye exam results, as well as glasses with which we were overall satisfied. The main reason of the visit was to renew our prescription. We were not expecting a change in vision but were open to getting the doctors opinion. We were seeing the practice during COVID and going through exams wearing masks was itself difficult. Between cleaning the condensation on the lenses, and working with their exam lenses that I found to be unclean - it was difficult examination. Me and my daughter were seen by different doctors, but have had very similar story. We got our prescriptions updated, got our glasses with new prescriptions, and found our vision to be inferior from our existing frames. My daughter could not see properly a few feet away while I started having headaches. We went back asking them to recheck the vision, which many practices do complementary. I was told that we have to first get our glasses checked up to make sure they are correct as per prescription. That costed $70 upfront, and then they did a re-evaluation for which we were again charged $$. Turned out our original prescriptions were correct, and the doctor reverted back to them. It was as if nothing changed but headaches, $$$, and time to deal with them. I reasoned that this is not a great way to deal with customers, and they should not be charging us for re-eval - but was given a blanket answer that this is their policy if you do not buy glasses with them. I found their whole practice to be overly focussed on making money and not caring a bit for customer satisfaction. If they were careful enough to see the original prescriptions and our glasses, this perhaps might have been avoided. We did not have too much time remaining to get our glasses re-worked otherwise I probably have seen another optometry for re-evaluation. Me and my family are not returning back. Thank you read more

I wrote a review approximately a year ago saying how wonderful I thought this business was... Unfortunately I must retract that. The truth is I spent about $2500 and purchased three pairs of glasses. I had nothing but problems with all three pairs of glasses and had to send them back to the lab several times each pair. I was told by the manager, that she was going to give me my very expensive sunglasses for free for all of my inconvenience. This did not happen. I returned one of the pairs of glasses because I needed one pair to wear until I could get another pair. They still got $980 out of me for my sunglasses. The weekend after Thanksgiving I had a stroke, I was unable to speak, drive, my eyesight was very poor in one eye, I was left with a pretty bad case of Bell's palsy. The manager continue to harass me a phone call after phone call about returning my remaining pair of glasses. I finally spoke to her on the phone as well as emailed her letting her know that I would not be able to do anything for at least six months to a year because of my eyesight. I was given credit on two pairs of glasses for the amount that I paid, however they first used my VSP insurance, which was not returned to me. It gets better, while sitting at a restaurant having lunch, this manager walks by and recognizes me and decides to confront me at the restaurant in front of my guest about the glasses... This was pretty much the rudest and most unprofessional behavior ever! I can't even believe she did it. While telling my story to a few neighbors, I have since found out that they also had problems with her and thought she had a nasty attitude! I think it's a real shame that I enjoyed the doctor so much as well as the young man that assisted me with my glasses Alex! The manager of the store is very selfish, rude and unprofessional! Only providing 2 stars since the optician helped my daughter with patience and knowledge. I really wanted to love this place. As a new resident in the area I thought "hey, great reviews...just down the street! I'll support the local business." I was completely wrong. I came in there with nothing but the expectation that the optometrist would provide professional guidance towards me and my daughter's exams. My daughter thankfully had no issues but for me, who needed a new prescription and contact fitting had a terrible experience. He asked if I brought a contact lens box with my sizing and prescription but I said no, thinking "that's why I'm here..I need your professional help". Well he went on trying to search the contact brand I use at Costco, and when we found it he got what he needed. I told him I was currently at -6.5 but that's all the info I had. Well based on my exam, apparently my vision improved and he gave me prescription for -6.0. I accepted it thinking "sure maybe my vision did get better". Usually at these places they'll offer a sample for fit. He should've offered whatever brand he had with the -6.0 to see if I could even see...I may have even purchased contacts with them if he did, but he didn't. So I went to Costco to get my contacts, tried them on and sure enough my vision was blurry! Costco doesn't have a return on lenses so I was stuck with what I bought. I called Visual Edge to get a reexamination based on the findings and they said I'd have to pay another exam fee! Bro, you effed up, not me. You went to school for this, not me and I have to pay again? I already lost money at Costco! I went back and forth with the receptionist (poor thing had to be middle man) while this incompetent optometrist claimed to say that he was just going off the "supposed prescription I showed him". I never brought anything, I just told you my current prescription and you couldn't even deliver. I spent well over $900 at this place out of my HSA and only got my daughter's exam and glasses out of it. Lack and of integrity, customer service and professionalism. Dr. Patel and staff are always so friendly and helpful. I have been going here for years and now my whole family does too. When we go to pick glasses out I feel like the staff always helps you stay within your budget if you have one. When my sister went for her exam she liked a really expensive pair of frames, the staff helped her find a pair that were very similar in a brand that our insurance covered more of. They actually got my prescription wrong twice. When I went back in to request my old prescription this last time, the doctor asked me if I had low blood sugar.
