I have been going Visual Edge since it opened! The entire staff from doctors to admin to opticians are really knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. Dr. Patel has been my eye doctor for over 15 years. His eye exams are very thorough. When I compare my experience seeing an optometrist at Kaiser versus Visual Edge there is no comparison. I never feel rushed out the door and all of my questions and concerns are always addressed. Dr. Patel is very comprehensive and does a lot of screening tests to ensure your eyes are healthy. After my eye exams I am always approached by the opticians who help me pick out the most appropriate contact lenses and frames. Stay away as far as you can from this place! My prescription was wrong when given to me by Doctor Isabella S. Diaz. I usually buy glasses from Costco but get the prescription from a different location, and unfortunately I picked the wrong place. When I received my glasses from Costco, I noticed that out of my left eye I was seeing blurry. I asked the optometrist at Costco what the problem might be, and they provided some answers but told me to go back to my actual optometrist and if there was a change they would be happy to change the prescription at no cost. Which I did and apparently because I got my glasses at a different location, Visual Edge did not want to help at all and wanted to charge me to get my glasses checked (about $35) and charge me extra to get checked by the doctor (which is a couple hundred dollars). I told them I didn't want my glasses checked, only to see if the doctor actually gave me the right prescription. But even if it's the doctor fault, they will charge you. They also came up with silly answers when I asked why the left eye was seeing blurry: the technician said that my glasses weren't lined up with my pupil, which was insane because I could see through the right just fine, even though she said the right lens was "off". When I told the technician that I could see from the right, she ended up saying that costco optometrists aren't professional or trained, and that probably I was not good in health that maybe I had diabetes! (Even if I got my health checked by an actual doctor last week and results came out excellent). But the message I got from them was that because I DID NOT buy glasses from them, they WILL NOT help me or anyone out. So I ended up going back to Costco optometrist and told them my situation and were happy help me. Where they told me that I did RECEIVE INCORRECT prescription from Visual Edge, I actually needed more prescription on the left eye. read more

I received the best customer service from Visual Edge. I had almost no wait time when I showed up for my appointment. I was quickly taken to that back and had my visual field checked, pressure, and cover test. After the testing was done I was taken to Dr. Diaz exam room. She explained my test result and told me everything looked normal. We went through the exam process and she dialed in my prescription. She told me that there weren't any changes to my prescription and I was handed off to one of techs. They have a great selection of frames everything from something basic all the way up to high end designer. Over all my experience was pleasant and I felt like Dr.Diaz was and authority in her field. read more

The eye doctor is nice and competent. He must be unaware that his staff do not match his capabilities - which is too bad. I just moved to the area. Visited Visual Edge based on info from Yelp. Provided staff with the boxes of my old contacts and just wanted a re-order. They told me it was required to have a check up. I said, "okay, I just need my new contacts quickly as I'm on my last pair". A month later the office staff were still bumbling around with paperwork and a comedy of errors so simple it got embarrassing. Eventually I called my old eye doctor several hours drive away. He had my papers transferred. He couldn't believe it either. He told me they had all the paperwork they needed to complete the order. He mailed my new contacts to me in 3 days. I'd pass on Visual Edge unless you have alot of time, money and patience you feel like squandering. PS...I asked around after my experience and my dog walker told me her mother had a bad experience with this place -that pretty much matched my experience. read more

Been coming here ever since the board started getting fuzzy back in the good old days of high school. That was when Dr. Brown told me the story of my extreme nearsightedness. And when I say story, I literally mean he tells you a detailed story about your eyes and how they've developed their inevitable problems. Dr. Brown is super friendly, very thorough, and a funny man to see if you've got the time. I feel as though he's a big hit with the kiddos that come in. If you're not so much into story time and prefer someone more to the point, Dr. Patel is an excellent choice. Dr. Patel is also a nice and friendly man that gets the job done well. You really can't go wrong with anyone here. It really just depends on what type of personality you prefer. The rest of the staff is friendly and very helpful with everything from making appointments to choosing frames. Speaking of frames, they do have a pretty good selection of frames and sunglasses. They are a bit on the pricier side but, if you've got insurance, prices aren't too bad. Overall, Visual Edge is a great place for any and all eye problems. This place is horrible! Dr did an exam on my daughter and the contact lens prescription that I was given doesn't work! I had to wait a couple of months to fill prescription bc she still had some from before. When she put contacts on she said her right eye hurt. When I called they said it was "normal" for a new prescription and that she would get used to them. I waited another month and realized that my daughter was only wearing her glasses so I asked her about her contacts and she said they never got better. Called office and they want to charge me another $70 for an eye exam. So now I have to pay bc the dr made a mistake ? read more

So incredibly frustrated with the office staff! I made my appointment online last week for my eye exam. They never called me so when I called this morning they didn't have it in their calendar at all. So, they put me on schedule for today at 3:30pm. I leave work early, rush home to get my glasses and come in and they say that my appointment is not today... its next week. And it's not only next week, but it's at 10:45 a.m. and not 3:30 like I originally scheduled! I work a very non-flexible job and 5year old twins. So, I have to attempt to do appointments in the late afternoon. When I tell the office staff that that won't work and that I need late afternoon... They tell me they have nothing available for at least 2 weeks. I told them to just forget it and I will find another doctor to start going to! All I got was, "Okay bye!". I swear, customer service is completely LOST on this provider and their staff! EDIT after owner's (Peter K.) comments: I DID call and schedule an appointment for TODAY at 3:30pm which your front office staff did NOT schedule correctly! And from your lack of even trying or attempting to make me a "happy customer", it just confirms your staff's lack of customer service skills. (Add in the rudeness of your office staff with their snide "Okay bye!" which was totally uncalled for and RUDE.) I am planning on following up this with VSP for the absolute ZERO assistance for your staff to take responsibility for their lack of actions. You have now lost a LARGE family of patients. read more

I happened to find this office online. I was looking for a dr to send my cousin to. He needed an urgent appointment for some eye abrasions. He was worried that the office was going to be less than helpful and thorough since he had Medi-Cal. The office was great. They made an appointment right away and were extremely friendly. Worst service I've ever received first they try to bill me for calling a day ahead to cancel! When it says call 24 hours ahead to cancel which I did! Then when I rescheduled for another day! I've been going to Dr. Patel since I was 6-7 (I'm 31 now) and when I moved out of the area the hardest part was accepting I needed a new eye doctor. He is THE BEST ever & you will not regret choosing him. The team is amazing and he is undoubtedly the most caring and genuine eye doctor there is. Dr Kovach is great but his opticians are among the pushiest people I've ever met. They push you to upgrade your frames even when you insist you're happy with what you have. They push you to try new technology you've already tried that didn't work for you. They push you to upgrade lense material. They push you to upgrade coatings and on and on. I have been coming here for about 10 years. Until my last visit I've been very happy there. They have a new girl with straight long hair that has the personality of a stump. She was very matter of fact and had no idea how to treat loyal customers. As a business owner myself I would be alarmed to find I had an employee that was so discourteous to my customers. I tried to explain my insurance to her but she didn't want to hear it. I then tried to explain what type of glasses I would like and she cut me off and told me here you go these are your choices. The final straw was when she handed me the price and had the wrong insurance info on it because she wouldn't listen to me. I excused myself and walked out of the door. My family spends about 4k a year on glasses and I will be spending that money elsewhere. On a different note I did give it 2 stars as I feel the Dr's here are wonderful and have had nothing but great experiences with my interactions with each one of them. read more

I've been a patient with visual edge for many years and had always had good experiences. Every time I had bought contacts with them they always assured me that if I didn't use all of my contacts and the boxes were unopened I could return them. Today I went in to do a post-LASIK check up and I took two unopened boxes of contacts I never used to return them, after some hassle they said they could give me a credit, however the credit was half the price of what I paid for them, I still decided to return them since now I have no use for them but I was left with a really bad impression since they didn't follow what they normally say. read more

The eye Dr. did a fine job..but the office workers made a $200 mistake on my bill. My wife and me were both at the office at the same time and here bill reflected the wrong charges per our coverage (VSP), I had to bring it to there attention. The office goes to fast in filling in your charges based on your coverage and you never see the coverage sheet they are working off, verry sloppy with MY money. After three weeks still do not have my glasses and when asked a schedual they gave me and answere that my glasses were taking extra time because they were glass lenses...my wife had hers and they were also glass??? When I asked for them to call they said they would they left the desk, which had a phone, and returned to say that the order is still not complete. I said that was not the answere I was looking for but a date when this would be completed. A second person said she would try to get that answere and re-call for me only to inform me that the place is closed! There was five people working at the front desk but poor service. read more

I'd like to recognize and share my appreciation to Dr. Diaz of Visual Edge. This was my first time seeing her and she was extremely thorough. She took her time and did what you want all Dr's to do, really examine and ask thoughtful questions relating to your appointment All these years I thought my eyes were watering because of allergies and dry eye and I would need to apply drops.. Which is right I do have dry eye but she saw that my tear ducts were blocked and cleared them and provided me with a two week regimen. My eyes have not watered nearly as much as what I was living with for several years. Thank you so much Dr. Diaz.
