Three days prior to leaving for a week long vacation, my Mom started having some health issues and ended up in ER. It quickly became obvious that I was going to need full-time in-home care for her during my absence. That evening, I made a phone call to Visiting Angels of Livermore. They offered to provide a full no-commitment assessment, and I accepted. The next day, Mr. Keith Beck, Executive Director, came to my home and evaluated Mom's situation and needs. Mr. Beck was on-time, professional, organized and efficient. Following the assessment, we were introduced to a recommended caregiver who, assuming my approval, would be responsible for Mom. She was professional, very conversational with Mom and an experienced caregiver. By the end of the appointments, I was confident that Mom would have good, comforting care while I was gone. I was extremely impressed that Visiting Angels responded so quickly, and was also able to provide and dedicate quality staff in a timely manner. I continued the caregiving services on a part-time basis after I returned home as Mom was still not quite stable. Another caregiver was introduced and assigned. After a couple of weeks of continued part-time care, Mom became much better and I was comfortable with stopping the services. I highly recommend Visiting Angels of Livermore. All of my experiences (and my Mom's) were positive. It is a very well managed business with a reliable, kind, and supportive team: owner, office staff, and caregivers. Thanks to Visiting Angels I was able to enjoy my vacation. I will definitely use them again when and if the need arises. Visiting Angels (Glendale)was a company my father and I were ready to invest in.He has alzheimers /dementia and dealing with lymphoma.He is a retired police officer and It would cost alot for his care (24/7) ,but we had the funds set aside for his care. I know it's costly for home care,but we both agreed that these friendly folks would help us out.Price was not a problem.We made an appointment for the meet and greet home evaluation and get to know our new team members and our assistants.No one showed up at the appointmeant that they promised us in the beginning.I guess that $200,000 set aside for his companionship and round the clock care went down the drain. Although I never met her personally, family members say caregiver Bernice was fantastic. Otherwise i would have given a one star rating. The office is a train wreck. My issue stemmed from them just swooping into my checking account and taking whatever amount of money they felt entitled to without giving me any notice. This happened several times and to this day I haven't seen a single invoice. To make matters worse when i complained about it they sent a text to a family member filled with untruths and inaccuarcies and threats. We wanted to keep Dad at home, and none of us lived in Livermore. So we contracted Visiting Angels to visit with him 3 days a week, in the morning, to make sure everything was OK. It took a while to find the right caregiver, but when we found Sandra it was great. She was the right amount of company and didn't talk too much. He really liked her. She did light housekeeping, ran to the store for him, but mostly just raised his spirits with her cheerful attitude. The office staff was cheerful and helpful as well. When my wife was diagnosed with Alheimer's five years ago I decided to care for her myself. But after a while I realized that I needed an occasional break and looked for agencies that provided that help. Visiting Angels had the highest rating in Livermore so I contacted them. I couldn't have been more pleased with my interaction with their staff. They assigned someone who came twice a week for four hours. My wife loved how friendly and caring the person was. We started this service for my parents and the service was to be provided twice per week for four hours each visit. Visiting Angels was never able to commit to having the same helper come, and we ended up with a different person each time. For the third visit, no one showed up and no one called to let me know. I only found out because a friend had visited my parents and told me there was no helper there. When I called Visiting Angels to complain, they told me someone had been there from 9:30-1:30, which was not true as no one had been there at all. My parents have dementia and so were not aware that their help was not coming. I would not recommend this in home service for anyone who has parents with dementia, because they are not reliable and will not send the same person. People with dementia need to have consistency on their care. read more

Well, here is another review...it is long, but well, I do like to write (LOL!), but I was COMPELLED to write about this company when I was reviewing companies I use and updating reviews I had made. Read on! When it was time to make a decision as to how and what to pursue about care for my parents-at some point, we all may be confronted with this issue, as to: do I find in-home care? A home or residence? -what do I do? I knew my parents were not ready for a facility-they wanted to be home, and while they were capable of taking care of some things, other things were just not practical to expect them to do anymore. Plus, with my dad's beginnings of dementia coming on, I just knew that my mom would not be able to deal with that. They needed medicine reminders, I did not want them driving anymore, and I was getting scared to think of them trying to cook for themselves-or not! What if they forgot to cook, or eat!? I work outside of home and taking care of my family, and the stress of trying to help them, run my home, work, the missed days of work to care for them...I was beside myself and turning into a wreck. I made the phone call to Visiting Angels here in Livermore (where we all live) and the office could not have been more caring, compassionate, understanding, and most of all-KNOWLEDGEABLE about elderly companionship and care. I spoke with THERESA (@Jazzmine-that is how it is spelled!) and she put me on with the owner and director, Keith. Keith has been through the issues I am going through, in fact, that is why he opened Visiting Angels-he knew in his heart that there was something better out there for older peeps who wanted to stay in their home in their golden years. We made an appointment; Keith visited with us (I say visit because it was a genuine visit-he spoke with my folks, not at them, and inquired about what they needed). Mr. Beck was punctual, totally professional, kind, and compassionate. Ok, so I keep using those words...I can't help but use them. I don't know who the one-star rater is, but Jazzmin's description of this office is well, NOT the office I have come to know and love. While I do not know what the attendants earn, or anything about benefits- I DO know that Mr. Beck screens ALL possible caregivers with a full background check and a drug test. Unfortunately, we've needed 24 hour care for the final days of care for both my mother-in-law and my mother. Fortunately we found Visiting Angels and used them both times. Both cases we were working with Hospice, so Visiting Angels sent caregivers experienced with Hospice. The caregivers were so kind and caring and did a wonderful job. There was one that we didn't click with and it was easy to request to not have her return. The others were all wonderful. And in both cases the caregivers were there when our mothers passed and were so kind and compassionate and handled everything so smoothly for us. I wouldn't wish this situation on anyone, but if you are faced with it, I highly recommend Visiting Angels! read more

I have never been so impressed with getting assistance for a loved one. Not only do they provide a quick response but they are sensitive to your needs. It is extremely important to the Visiting Angels that the person they send to your home is compatible with the person needing the care. They follow up and are very compassionate which I really appreciated at such a difficult time. They accommodated all of our needs even when we needed someone to stay over night at the last minute. My name is Kathleen and I am a caregiver. I've been caring for people for about 25 years and I love it. I especially thrive in hospice situations. You could say my calling is to help people die well. I have worked for Visiting Angels for about 3 years now and I would like to share a recent story with you. At the end of 2015, I went on disability due to spinal damage. This past May, I had spinal surgery at UCSF. I thought I was prepared. This is what I do for a living. I was seriously mistaken. I had a severe reaction to narcotics, multiple infections, an ER visit, miscommunications between providers, and an horrific Walmart experience. Unreal ! I was in severe pain & incapable of helping myself. My advocate failed. I cried more tears than I could count. I yelled. I called everyone involved. I begged. Nothing. In desperation, I emailed the owner of Livermore Visiting Angels Keith Beck. Keith sent me a caregiver as long as I needed, at no cost. I was overwhelmed with gratitude. As we all get older, we are faced with tough life choices to care for our parents. As with many of you, we have tried care givers that are not up-to-par. Been there, done that. No agency is perfect. That is the facts. But, when you get an agency that does more than pay lip service to care, then you have a winner. Lots of agencies claim they will assist you and stand by you to help your parents, but Keith Beck and crew actually deliver it. I don't know where our family would be without them. They screen and hire quality people like Rebecca, Julie, Kathy, Chris, Bertha and many others who have assisted us over the last year and a half. They will do everything they can to assist you with whatever stage of life's challenges you face. My grandmother required 24 hour care as she has dementia and was deemed incompetent, the first care giver that was sent let her sleep from 7 pm to 2:30 pm the next day without waking her for medications or food and had someone visit her during the night which was witnessed by a family member. Another caregiver left my grandmother sitting in a urine saturated adult diaper that leaked through the diaper, the absorbent pad and left a puddle in wheel chair. When asked why she didn't change her, the caregiver's response was "She's the boss, she didn't want me to change her" ....obviously my grandmother is unable to care for herself, which is why we hired visiting angels. Finally, a care giver who had been to my grandmother's house several times, left at night and drive through my grandmother's front yard, left tire tracks and running over a bird feeder (on a pole) and this was all caught on camera. We spoke to the owners of the company, and their response was less then sympathetic or apologetic. I would not recommend Visiting Angels to take care of a flea on my dog's backside. They do not follow up or monitor the care their employees are providing, they are simply concerned with getting paid (which is quite a large sum). There were several employees that were outstanding, very caring, compassionate and competent. I truly feel sorry for these women, as they work hard and do a great job, but the company they work for leaves A LOT to be desired. Nicole P. read more

Keith, Kathy, Tamara, Leticia, Sherry, Rebecca and all of the Visiting Angels team were a Godsend when my mom was released from a 10 day hospital stay with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Originally their staying with her was to be temporary, but with each day her condition worsened and she passed away 30 days from the day of her diagnosis. The time that she spent with her Visiting Angels was great. I had no idea that anything like this existed, and God bless the internet that had so many great reviews, as well as people saying great things that were unsolicited. My family couldn't have gotten through the past few weeks without the beautiful caretakers she had...Laqueta, Roberta, Judy, Lady, Crystal...all were fantastic and helped us so much with her. Rebecca...thank you for your diligence and flexibility when I sent panicked emails about needing more help. The peace of mind that we were given while she was in their care was so appreciated! They listen to your needs and find you the care givers that are a right fit for your situation. When they are with my parents, I do not worry. They work extremely hard and they CARE. Visiting Angels helped care for my mother for 2 1/2 years, until just recently when she entered an assisted living facility at age 99 1/2. I had used a couple of other agencies before Visiting Angels but none of them came close to the excellent care Visiting Angels provided to my mother. I cannot recommend Visiting Angels of Livermore highly enough. They took great care to make sure what my mother needed, what her preferences were, and what services could benefit her. There was never any pressure, never any awkwardness. The caregiver assigned to my mom was friendly, dependable and helpful. The caregiver was called on to help my mom dress, bathe, and go for walks (she is blind). The caregiver prepared her lunch and helped her find her programs on TV. It was a great relief to my mind to know that while I was at work, my mom was well taken care of. Her situation changed and Mom moved away from Livermore, but if she had remained we would have continued with Visiting Angels. I do not hesitate to give them the highest ranking. read more

So far so good!! My mother is in upstate NY and previously would not let anyone that was not family in the house. Did not like to have strangers there. Ended up going to nursing facility for rehab, came home and finally agreed to it. Was nervous about it but she did like the Visting angels assigned to her right off the bat!!! They are not nursing aides, or expected to do nursing visits, but to do light housework and to take to drs visits. One big problem for many seniors, is isolation. They are more to also provide a companion care, and my mother needed that most. Unfortunately I live 300 miles from her so this will help to relieve some the isolation she feels. I was there when the angels come in the first week and I have to say, they are kind and attentive. I think we shall do well with them. If there are any changes to this I will rewrite my review. Obviously her assistance is provided by her local Visiting Angels but I could not find a local place to post a review but am very pleased, so far, by the company that I had to post something!!! I live in Kansas City and my Grandmother lived in Livermore CA for many years at an assisted living residence. As there were no other relatives there to help her with things and provide her with options to get out and shop or just take a drive, I engaged the Livermore Visiting Angels to visit her twice a week. They went out on errands and sometimes just to drive through to get something to eat. This arrangement was in place for a couple of years before my Grandmother moved back to Kansas City. During the time that she was visited by their staff, they took great care to work with her preferences for people, places and scheduling. The office staff were great at letting me know if, during their time with her, my Grandmother had mentioned not feeling well or a need for something. I didn't know what to expect when I first signed up with the service, but can now say that, based on my experience with this group, I would not hesitate to use their help again. read more

I cannot say enough about Kathy (who coordinates caregivers), the caregivers themselves, and Marla the Marketing Director! My mom was hospitalized in the past, and we have used them for many transitions home-always with excellent experiences. Recently, my mom was released from the hospital into hospice care at my sister's home. I was visiting from afar. We needed help, and this was obviously a very emotional time. The caregiver coordinator and caregivers were sensitive, experienced (giving us confidence to sleep, etc, which is so valued), and kind. I felt my mother was in excellent and loving care, when it could not be me with her. Kathy was able to arrange nightly assistance quickly, and really was so attentive and responsive. She came to the house, accompanied the newer caregivers, etc. Over the past few times interacting with them, we have grown to love Kathy, Marla and many of the caregivers, like family!
